Ch.57
I must have fallen asleep on the chair. When I wake up, its morning. I hear the doorknob jiggle ind in walks the governor. "You stay away from me, you selfish prick!" I run as far away from him as I can.
"I told you I'd be back. I need to blow off some steam anyways." the governor grins taking off his belt. "No! I won't let you touch me again!" I scream throwing anything I can get my hands on.
"I figured you might be against it." the governor laughs scratching the back of his head. "Why me, though. Can't you jack off by yourself?" I spit angrily at him as he continues to laugh.
Then the governor's whole demeaner changes, and he catches me by my throat. "You're going to take it whether you like it or not." he clenches his teeth and throws me down on the bed.
The governor zipties my hands and feet to either side of the headboard after stripping me of what's left of my clothes. He's gonna make sure that I don't fight him like last time. After taking off his pants, he forces himself on me.
I cry for it all to stop, but it continues. I sob until the governor finishes inside me. He was very harsh this time. He didn't talk or tease much except the occational 'just take it' and 'deal with it, slut'.
How am I supposed to deal with this? This is the second time I've been raped by the same person. Why does it have to be me? I continue crying strapped to the bed bare naked for the next round.
"Where is Daryl? He should be coming for me any minute now. I can't believe my group would abandon me like this. "God dammit, Daryl, you better be coming back for me." I growl trying to keep myself together. More sobs fill the room once again as I try to drift off to sleep.
A , I wake up to a big commotion below me. Footsteps clatter up the stairs in a hurry. It better be the rescue squad, I swear. "You. Where is she? Tell me. Now!" I hear Daryl says distinctly to the guard outside my door.
"Mae, you in there? Answer." he calls through the door. "Daryl, I'm in here!" I shout so that he could here me. My luck's finally starting to change. I knew Daryl would come for me. It was just a matter of time.
"Don't move! Shoot to kill!" the man outside my door commands. "Enough with this shit." Merle says puting a bullet in the man. "Check his pockets for keys." he growls crouching down to look for keys.
"You find any?" Merle asks and Daryl responds with a 'no' while searching the pockets for a set of keys. "All right. Time to break it down. Stand back." Merle says cocking his gun to shoot at the doorknob. The door swings open and in come the brothers.
"Mae!" Daryl exclaims staring at me from across the room."Where are the others?" I ask panicked. He did this didn't he?! I'll kill him for this!" Daryl states running over to me ignoring my question.
"Merle, dont look." he says trying to shield my body from lingering eyes. "Daryl, where are they?!" I ask again more firmly as he slits my hand ties. "They're waiting outside. Let's hurry." Daryl finally says grunting at me covering my pathetic self from Merle.
"Hot damn! You got yourself nice rack." Merle screeches eying my naked body. "I told you not to look, dammit!" Daryl yells shoving his brother backwards. "Hey. When there's a naked lady, I gotta look. You know me. How 'bout we share?" Merle grins trying to catch another glimpse of me.
"Go to hell, asshole!" I shout at Merle. "All right, all right. I'll turn around. Don't get your panties in a bunch. Oh wait, you don't have any. Here they are." he laughs turning around and picking up my panties off the floor.
"You sick bastard. You're just as bad." I huff blowing the hair out of my face. "Hey! I ain't raped no one. And that's the truth." Merle retaliates pointing a finger at me with an offended look on his face. "Turn around!" we both shout for him to turn back around.
"Come on. Let's get you up and dressed." Daryl says looking around for my what's left of my clothes. "You son of a bitch. Took you long enough." I slap Daryl right across the face before crushing him in my embrace. He seemed shocked at first. "I love you, too." Daryl says giving me a wet kiss while hugging my naked body.
"All right. Forever burned into my brain. Hm-mmm. Damn, brother, you got yourself a fine lookin' lady." Merle laughs rubbing his hands together and licking his lips. "Shut up and turn around." Daryl growls angrily pushing me behind him.
"All right. Just had to take another peek. But now that we got your girl, let's go." Merle gestures to the door. "I'd like my underwear back now." I say staring at the wod in between his fingers. "Uh-uh. You gotta come out and get them." he teases me. "Give me those." Daryl grabs the undies out of his brother's hand.
"Um, I need a shirt." I tell Daryl after covering myself from Merle's peeping eyes. He looks at his brother, then takes his own shirt off to give to me. He must not want me to wear his brother's shirt. Good. I don't want to anyways.
"Give me your shirt." Daryl commands of his brother after it's safe for him to turn around. "What?" Merle questions looking at us stupidly. "Your shirt. You have two. Give me one." Daryl growls. "Fine. Here." Merle says throwing his overshirt at him.
"Ho-whoa. What are you doing?" Merle whines watching Daryl rip the sleeves off the shirt. "Making it my own." he responds putting it on over his bare chest. "If I would've known you was gonna do that I would have given you my other one." Merle continues whining about his torn shirt.
My tanktop got ripped up, so Daryl gives me his shirt to wear. It smells like him. Boy have I missed his scent. We run back down the stairs killing anyone who gets in our path. From the look on Daryl's face, there's definitely gonna be a war. I guarantee it.
Outside, we meet back up with Rick and the others. "Mae! I was so worried." Maggie states crushing me in a hug. "Ladies, we don't have time for this. Let's go." Rick states ushering us to move. ."Sorry, Rick." Maggie and I both apologize while rushing forward.
"They're all at the arena. This way." Merle states rushing past a bus. "You're not going anywhere with us." Rick grumbles. "Rick, please." I say trying to get his attention on the current situation.
"Do you really wanna do this now? Merle gripes running up to a wall. "Come on. We gotta go." Daryl ushers us all through the hole his brother made in the outside wall. "A little help would be nice." Merle shouts repeatedly bashing the skull of a walker coming up on us.
We found our way into the woods after we left Woodbury with everyone in tow including this new girl with a samurai sword. I have to admit she comes in style with a sword like that, but I still dont know her.
"Rick, who the hell is this?" I ask scoffing at the newcomer. I'm welcomed with a sneer of her own."She's the person that led us to you guys." Rick states eying this new girl running up on a walker. Rick then walks up to the samurai lady with a frown on his face.
"And where the hell were you earlier when we needed you, huh?" he asks the woman. "I had business elsewhere." she states clenching her sword in her hands. "Yeah, I bet you did." Merle huffs running at another walker. She gives him the evil eye.
Once we reach a car parked along the side of the road, Glenn and the samurai lady both point their weapons at the sight of Merle trailing behind us. "What the hell is he doing here!" the woman seethes.
"I know we have a problem, but..." Rick trails off seeing their reaction. He doesn't want him to come along either. He made that clear earlier, I can't blame him, though, after everything that's happened. We still need to work something out.
Glenn is full of rage right now. I can't really interject. I have no reason to. I think badly of Merle as well and don't want him living with us, but Daryl says otherwise. It's not my decision.
Somehow, the conversation turns to Andrea, of all people. I still think she's a bitch for betraying us. Not only did she live in Woodbury, but she was sleeping with the governor as well.
This hole situation makes me mad just to think of anything that has to deal with Woodbury and that governor bastard. Daryl notices me ball my fists up about ready to blow. So he puts his hand on mine to calm me down.
Merle rambles on about how Andrea and the new woman know each other. Saying they were close to death when they found them. All of a sudden, Rick does the one thing everyone was thinking about doing. He knocks him over the head with his gun.
I stare at Merle's motionless body on the ground as everyone else keeps throwing scenarios after another in this fight over him living at the prison with us. Glenn even goes as far as to portray Merle out to be a rapist.
I let out a little chuckle. I know this isn't the time, but I can't believe someone would say that about him. Daryl notices, then, the chuckle coming out of my mouth. "Oh, don't you start that." he grumbles at me getting pissed.
"Sorry, babe. Just thinking how I said the same thing earlier." I apologize sheepishly. "He ain't a rapist! Merle knows how the governor thinks. we could use him." Daryl states trying to calm down.
"No? Well, his buddy is. Remember what happened to Mae? To Maggie?" Glenn interjects staring into my terrified and angry face. "Yeah, don't remind me." Daryl grumbles looking away.
"Besides, they ain't buddies no more. Not after last night." Daryl huffs glaring at Glenn. It's time for Rick to intervene. "There's no way Merle's gonna live there without putting everyone at each other's throats." He states looking around at everyone.
Daryl tries one last attempt to get Rick to let Merle stay with the group saying he's blood. That ticked off Glenn, though, because he turned around with a remark of his own, and Merle is not a part of that.
"Fine. We fend for ourselves." Daryl grunts pulling me with him toward his brother. "Hey, you can't take her." Maggie shouts in our direction. "Says who?" Daryl scoffs stopping to look at Maggie. "Says me. You can't force her." she states glaring back at him.
"Hold on, guys. Daryl, you can't really mean that." I say releasing myself from his intense grip. "I'm dead serious. No Merle, no me." Daryl grumbles at me getting pissed. "I'm sorry, guys. I stick with Daryl." I tell the group before running over to the brothers.
"So, you decide to come back, huh?" Daryl huffs looking me over.
"Why?" I ask walking briskly ignoring Daryl's question. "What?" he huffs. "Why leave. That's our home. We have to go home." I question grumbling myself. "Because...Rick didn't want Merle living there. And I'm not leaving without him." Daryl growls at me.
"That's our home, Daryl. We can't just take off." I state getting upset. "Fine. Go with them. See if I care." he grunts walking away again. "You can't be serious. The prison is our home." I gripe watching him walk away. "I said no!" Daryl screams at me.
"Look, as much as I despise Merle right now, I don't want to leave our group. They are family, and..." I try to change his mind but he interrupts me mid sentence."Merle's family, too! Like I said, If he goes, I go. I'm not leaving him again. If you want to stay, that's your choice." Daryl yells glaring at me.
"You don't mean that, do you? After all you did to save me. You're willing to give me up?" I question sniffling a little. When Daryl doesn't say anything, I stiffen up. "Ho-whoa. Let's not fight over me. I'm flattered..." Merle inerupts us, but Daryl and I both yell at him to stay out of it.
"Why are you fighting me?! I saved your sorry ass! If it wasn't for me, you'd still be there! Or would you rather have that mother fucker have his hands all over you?!" Daryl yells grabbing me by the arms.
I slap Daryl across the face again at that last statement. "Shut up! You're such a jerk! I thought you abandoned me! Twice!" I cry running to the nearest decent sized tree. I sob leaning up against the tree in front of me.
Daryl realized what he had said to me and instantly felt sorry. "Mae, I would never abandon you. I promise you that." he says walking up to me and holding me from behind. I push him away, though, and he hugs me again as I cry.
After a few minutes, I place my hands on top of Daryl's as he kisses my neck to make up for our fight. "I'm sorry, babe. I didn't mean it." he says softly rocking me in his arms. I let out a laugh as he tickles my sides and turn my head to give him a kiss.
"Why didn't you stay, anyways?" Daryl asks curious. "I told you I'd always be with you, didn't I? I love you." I state staring into his blue eyes. At that he kisses me again and I'm filled with his love for me.
"You two wanna make out some more, or can we go?" Merle interrupts urging us to move along before we are found. We haven't made it that far away from the town we broke out of. So we should keep moving.
After a while, I listen to Daryl and Merle fight over who's right about where we are. "I'm getting tired of their bickering. I'm exhausted and need to rest. "Would you two just shut up and keep moving." I sigh at them getting their attention.
"Yes, m'am." Merle winks at me, but I ignore him. "Merle, don't even start. I'm not dealing with your shit." I sigh walking ahead of him. "What? What I do?" he asks laughing it off.
"You're the whole reason we were in this mess to begin with. So don't start. Go." I huff pointing at Merle to keep walking. "What crawled up her ass?" Merle asks his brother jokingly. "You have no idea what she's been through. So cut the bullshit." Daryl growls catching up to me.
"Hey, can we talk?" Daryl asks grabbing my arm. "About what?" I ask seriously concerned. "About what happened back in Woodbury." he stops me in my tracks. "I don't wanna talk about it." I say pulling my arm away.
"Mae, you need to talk about it." he growls starting to get pissed. "I said I don't want to. At least not while he's around." I yell aggravated that Merle's here."Then can we talk when we get back?" Daryl asks me seriously. "Fine." I say releasing the heavy lump in my throat. "Just don't get mad if I don't wanna talk then either." I say straightening my shirt.
A few minutes later, we hear a noise in the distance. "Hey, you guys hear that?" Daryl asks making us stop. "What now?" I sigh exhausted. "Yeah, two animals getting wild." Merle says raising his eyebrows at me. I try to ignore him.
"There it is again. It sounds like a baby." Daryl keeps an eye out for walkers. "Oh, come on. That there's the sound of a couple of coons making love, sweet, love. Know what I mean?" Merle laughs doing the thrusting motion at me.
"You wish, asshole." I huff turning away from Merle. "Damn right, I do. After what I seen earlier. Hm-mmm." he continues flirting with me. "Hey! Knock it off. This is serious."Daryl yells at his brother.
"Let's go rescue that baby." I say quickly following Daryl to a bypass where people are trapped. It was definitely a baby crying. "We have to help them." I say wincing at the glare in my eyes. "Let's go." Daryl responds grabbing hold of me.
We rid the place of walkers in no time without much of Merle's help. We could have used more help, but it is what it is. Merle's an asshole. I open the passenger side door to see if the mother and baby is okay.
"M'am, are you okay? Is the baby hurt?" I ask the woman. She's speaking in spanish as the baby continues crying. I can't understand her. Noticing how scared she is, I close the door to leave her be.
Then Merle starts scavenging the backseat for supplies. "Merle, get out of there. Don't take anything." I say glaring at him. "Daryl, get him out." I urge for Daryl to get his brother out of the car.
"Get out of the car." Daryl says pointing his crossbow at Merle. "Now I know you're not talking to me, brother." Merle sighs looking back. "Get out." Daryl repeats. "Boy, does she have you whipped." he continues making Daryl out to be my bitch.
"Shut up." Daryl growls at his brother insulting him. "Go! Get out of here! Hurry!" I say to the family while Daryl's dealing with his brother. The men quickly get in the car yelling what I can assume is profanities un spanish.
"What the hell is wrong with you? They need that stuff more than we do." I yell at Merle as the family takes off. "The hell they do. The least they could do is show us some gratitude." he yells back to my face.
"Shut up, Merle! Just shut up!" I yell catching my breath. "You seem more bitchy lately." Merle says eying me. "No shit, Sherlock. I was being held hostage while you were running around doing your lackey chores." I growl walking away from him.
We continue along our path back to who knows where. Once again the brothers are fighting. Their fighting is all over the place. From Merle trying to steal supplies from those people to leaving him to die back in Atlanta.
"You know what? I bet you didn't tell your buddy, Rick, that we were planning on robbing that camp blind." Merle spits at Daryl. "What? For real?" I ask out of shock. "That was the plan at first..." Daryl explains but I interrupt him.
"I can't believe you. Were you ever gonna tell me? I thought we were close." I screech at their deceit. "Hold on there, missy. That was before you came along." Merle speaks up, but I shush him with my hand.
"Yes, that was the plan, but..." Daryl starts. "But what? Tell me." I finish. "It didn't happen. That's just it." he continues to explain. "What is? Why didn't you actually go through with it then, huh?" I tear up at how upset I am thinking that he would steal from us.
Daryl doesn't answer me. "Hey, hold up. He was planning on taking you with him." Merle speaks up on Daryl's behalf. "Really?" I stop what I'm doing to stare at Daryl with tearful eyes.
"Yeah, I was. I thought about it for a long time." Daryl states. "He was in love with you from the very start. He didn't know it yet, but it was there." Merle explains while laughing.
"You sure as hell didn't show it." I respond placing my hands on my hips and pursing my lips. "The point is that it didn't happen. I thought about what it would have done to you and everyone else." Daryl says to me.
"Yeah, it didn't cause I wasn't there to help you." Merle exclaims angrily at Daryl. "And I bet it was all your idea, wasn't it?" I say pointing to Merle. "So what? I was just gonna take what I can and leave. Who knows, maybe get some pussy first." he flails angrily.
"Is that why you kept following her" Daryl asks angrily. "Hell, yeah. I hadn't had any for a long ass time and neither have you. I thought maybe we could, uh, have a three-way some time." Merle laughs explaining his reasons.
"Why you..." Daryl grabs Merle by the shirt as he gets ready to punch. "Don't tell me you didn't think about it. Look at her. She was all over you. It was just a matter of time." Merle states laughing at how mad he's making his brother.
"I would never share anything with you. Especially not her." Daryl exclaims pointing at me. "So you admit you wanted her all to yourself. It was only a matter of time before someone got to her. You were just too stupid and nice to initiate anything." Merle says fixing his tank.
