Whatever It Takes
Chapter Fifty Seven
Karin groaned, leaning over the couch as she enviously watched Sasuke practically run around the house preparing everything now that winter was over and they had just entered spring. The days were getting warmer which was a relief for her as seeing all that snow depressed her, but damn if it didn't detour Sasuke in the slightest. He was supposed to be further along in his pregnancy than her, nearing his end soon, but he was freaking moving like there was nothing wrong with him. You had to look really hard to tell that he was pregnant the way he wore clothes too big for him. At most he looked like he had just gained a few pounds.
Sasuke did a lot for a pregnant person, claiming that it was his right as Itachi's husband. Itachi also had to stop him from going outside to train with that sword of his. Karin shook her head, poor Itachi had his hands full not only with the work he had to complete but following his pregnant husband around and making sure that he didn't injure himself.
Karin envied Sasuke to the point that she secretly wished he would get injured just so he'd be forced to sit down and stay put like she had to.
Sasuke looked as perfect as he always did==no actually he definitely looked even better. One could even say glowy and radiant. Even more beautiful if that was even possible. Karin blinked, staring at Sasuke who had paused to read some documents. His hair, his skin, everything about him was shining more than ever before. His nails were trimmed so nicely and well kept. His skin looked flawless, soft, and like a sin. She had to stop herself from drooling at the smile on his stupid face. What the hell was his secret! Karin rolled over. She was so huge she could hardly move freely anymore. She felt overly bloated, sweaty, and disgusting. She couldn't even look at her feet; soon she was sure she'd lose all mobility.
Later that evening she brought up this complaint to Sasuke when he sat beside her, murmuring about how full he felt after having finished dinner. Sasuke simply blinked at her like he was confused with what she was talking about. Talk about adorably clueless.
"Where's Itachi?" She asked with a deep sigh.
"He's washing the dishes. He wouldn't even let me help him," Sasuke pouted.
"Hey what are you complaining about, if anything how are you not ready to die with how far along you are," She hissed at him, "I'm in so much pain I feel like I'm a bloated water balloon that is about to pop!" She tugged at her hair. "I look so ugly compared to you," She patted her belly, letting her shirt ride up to show the huge bulge of it. Sasuke moved closer to her to have a look.
"Karin, why haven't you been taking care of yourself," Sasuke asked, noticing a few stretched marks over her large belly. She looked a bit bigger than Naruto had looked…was that even normal? She was so big that maybe her skin looked so irritated with the angry stretch marks that littered her belly.
"I can't okay, It hurts," She cried, covering her face with her hands.
"I'll give you some of that lotion Itachi got me, Suigetsu should rub it on your belly, it will definitely make you feel better," Sasuke offered. "If anything you should have him help you with everything now,"
"That idiot wouldn't keep his hands off since the baby started to kick that it annoyed me, I don't know if I am ready for that again," She huffed, looking away defiantly. While it had been cute and nice that Suigetsu liked to feel the baby, she hated how much he wanted to do it.
"Trust, it will definitely make you feel better. Or you could have one of the ladies help you." Sasuke suggested. "It really is convenient when you get help with showering and self-maintenance at this stage of pregnancy."
"I guess they have offered to make it easier, yeah I'll ask them." Karin nodded, making her decision. She could remember nearly slipping in the bath and how awkward it was already. She hated this so much. Sasuke was lucky he had his husband.
"Okay," Sasuke said. He smiled when Itachi came over to him. "Itachi, can you get Karin some of that lotion you rub on my belly?" Sasuke asked, reaching for him to help him stand up again.
"Yeah," Itachi said, moving his arms around Sasuke to keep him from bouncing all over the place once he was on his feet. "Gentle otouto, you're very pregnant remember," Itachi whispered softly into his ear, gently rubbing his back. Sasuke shivered against him, nudging him so they could go to their room.
"Karin, we will see you tomorrow, try to get some sleep," Sasuke called back.
"Yeah yeah," Karin rolled her eyes. Yes, Sasuke was so freaking lucky to have Itachi. The man was so sickingly devoted to him. "Must be nice," she muttered, and then smiled softly. She was strangely happy that Sasuke had found happiness. Although she had been in love with him once, and even cursed anyone taking him from her, she quickly realized that seeing Sasuke happy meant a lot more to her than he being her's.
Now she had another thing in mind, and that was finding her very own Itachi to call her own. But where to find someone so perfect like that…?
One in a million for sure, Sasuke was just lucky.
A few weeks later, Sasuke suppressed a small whine, his back hurt like it hadn't before- no, everything hurt. He was done. They were in the middle of spring now and the weather had become a lot warmer than before. Sasuke felt like he had been pregnant forever at this point. For the past few days he had not left the bed and had found himself either napping or going to the bathroom. But motivation to do anything else had completely left him.
He wasn't even as big as he remembered Naruto being, he was sure and he had nothing else to compare to, but he still felt huge. He felt like he wasn't himself at this point. Like his body wasn't even his own. Sasuke sighed, shifting in bed to try and get more comfortable. When would he give birth? It was really uncomfortably painful to be in his body right now. Silently he closed his eyes and remained still with a pillow to support his back as he tried to relieve some of the pressure on his abdomen.
"Itachi!" He finally called in his internal distress, harshly hissing at how frustrating his body was to him at the moment.
His beloved husband had left all of their work to Genma and Hayate when Kimimaro had mentioned that Sasuke was nearing his end. Itachi had instructed Genma and Hayate that unless it was an emergency they should be able to handle most things. Itachi had worked them hard in order to make sure that the two men would be capable and handle things for him in Sasuke's final days of being pregnant. He was worried and wanted to have his full attention on Sasuke.
Sasuke was thankful that Itachi was able to think ahead. He had been a little to focus on running around to actually think about what giving birth would mean. He had kind of blocked the image of Naruto giving birth but right now it was wrecking fear in him.
Coming into the room, Itachi walked over to Sasuke's side and placed his hand over his tummy, running his fingers over it in gentle motions. Sasuke sighed in relief, melting at his touch, "Don't worry my love, our baby will be here soon." Itachi kissed Sasuke's lips, and then his forehead.
They were sure Sasuke would give birth any day now but none of them were sure as to what day. Kimimaro had been diligent in making sure that Itachi got Sasuke vitamins and the best foods, meeting all of Sasuke's cravings and keeping both him and the baby healthy. Not that Sasuke wanted to eat anything at the moment. He was in too much pain to care about anything really.
"I know, but it hurts." Sasuke groaned.
"Where?" Itachi asked.
"Here," Sasuke signaled to his sides, and towards the center of his belly, huffing as another ripple of pain hit him. So far the pain was more of an annoyance than it was too painful. Still, it was starting to really hurt and leave him breathless with the shock of it. "The pain seems to come and go, but it's starting to really hurt niisan."
"I think you're in labor," Itachi said, realizing the signs. Sasuke's eyes widened, Itachi smiled reassuringly, "Our baby is going to be born in a matter of hours," he happily said. Sasuke reached for his hand, a scared look crossing his face. Now? So suddenly? No way, shouldn't he have gotten a bigger warning or something that would let him know that he would be in labor! Sasuke was thinking that it would hit him more obviously when his baby would be coming, he had not expected it to be this suddenly…
"Niisan, I'm scared," he whispered, his hand tightly holding Itachi's.
"Hey now, I'm here. We will get through this together." Itachi said, squeezing Sasuke's hand in return. Sasuke nodded, settling back into the bed and closing his eyes at his discomfort. Itachi continued to gently massage his belly, leaning his head close to Sasuke's. Sasuke turned his head to face him, brushing their noses together, and sighed. He was safe here with Itachi, despite his worry.
Soon their child would be born.
It was both exciting and scary all at once.
Karin was glaring at Suigetsu. They were in the living room because Karin was feeling irritated because she was finding it hard to move. She was even huger than before! Bigger than even Sasuke who was now at the end of his pregnancy. She had heard that he would give birth any day now. A part of her had hoped Sasuke would blow up at the end of it. Get even bigger than her and she would have laughed at his stupidly handsome face.
Damn It, why was she so big? She couldn't get up on her own at all now much less breathe comfortably. She blamed this on Suigetsu who was trying his best to massage her aching feet but doing a terrible job at it. If anything it was infuriating her to no end. "I hate you so much you know! I never would be experiencing this if it wasn't for you," she groused.
"I know, I'm sorry," Suigetsu sobbed. He had given up trying to disagree with her. He didn't want to argue with this crazy woman. If he even tried she would cry and he prefer that she'd be angry with him instead.
"Here you are Karin, something sweet and cool for you," Kurenai said sweetly as she handed Karin some fruit. Karin smiled at her gratefully, taking the fruit from her and munched on it. Kurenai shot Suigetsu a pitying look before she made her way back to the kitchen.
Suigetsu wanted to cry.
When would this nightmare be over!
It was much later that day and the pain had only gotten worse. Sasuke was now feeling a bit feverish with it. Taking a deep breath, Sasuke allowed Itachi to lift him from the bed. His legs shook a bit, and his body protested, but his back felt a slight relief at the change of angle. Itachi smiled softly at him, rubbing his back as he held him close against his chest.
This was taking too long.
Sasuke wanted it to be over already. Through the start of his labor he had his clothes changed and had been checked a few times to see how he was doing. With the anticipation of his child being born within the next hour or so, they had decided it was time to prepare the bed. Sasuke had not wanted to go to the medical room or anywhere else to give birth, and had already chosen that he wanted to do it from the safety of the bedroom that he shared with Itachi.
With that decision, they needed to make sure that the bed could be easily set and prepared for the birth, and then the afterbirth. They wanted Sasuke to be as comfortable as possible. Kimimaro was still left in pure amazement that Sasuke was about to give birth. He was a man after all. Of course, that amazement was easily overcome with the disbelief at the fact that Itachi would not be leaving Sasuke's side for even a second.
In his experience, men didn't usually want to be part of the birthing process. Much less actually care to see what happened during the birth. Some mothers preferred that their man just held their hand and didn't really get involved. That was not Itachi and Sasuke.
Sasuke claimed that he wanted Itachi to be very involved with making sure that their child would be born safely. He didn't seem to want anyone holding his hand. Yet, that was not how he at the moment presented himself, clinging tightly to Itachi and all. Kimimaro had to wonder if Sasuke would be able to be strong enough to not hold Itachi's hand through the birth.
Finishing the birthing set up, Itachi slowly guided Sasuke back onto the bed. Sasuke huffed as he sat down and scooted back only to find that it was difficult to actually move his body all that much. Itachi climbed slightly on the bed next to him, and gently lifted him and set him up against the pillows that had been set for him. Sasuke shifted around until he was breathless but comfortable, and then pouted up at Itachi. Itachi leaned in to kiss his sweaty forehead, whispering something that caused Sasuke to sigh gently and relax as he closed his eyes. Kimimaro smiled as Itachi began to rub Sasuke's belly.
Kimimaro decided to leave them to their moment together, as he was sure Sasuke needed it. "Juugo, let's gather everything that Sasuke is going to need for when it's time to give birth," he said to his giant boyfriend. Juugo glanced at both Itachi and Sasuke before nodding, and following Kimimaro out of the room.
Jin was bored out of his mind. His parents were busy and they seemed to be acting strange all they long. They told him to stay in his room and play, but he wanted to be with them. Pouting at having to stay put the small child dropped back on his bed.
This day was the worse!
He had been looking forward to going out to the promised picnic his dad and papa Juugo said they would go on today. It seemed uncle Itachi needed them for something though. He knew he had to be patient and be good like his dad had asked of him, but he was also sad. He knew that his uncle Itachi was an important person and sometimes needed his parents, but he had been looking forward to spending the day with them.
Suddenly he perked up when he heard a noise outside of his bedroom and got up to take a look.
Slightly opening the door to peek out of his room, he noted that his dad was there talking with Deidara and Sasori. His little heart picked up speed as all three ran off to somewhere. The look on the grown-ups faces seemed to be panicked or scared of something. What was going on…where they in danger of something?
Quickly closing the door to his room, he rushed to his bed and snuck under his covers, praying for his parents to come and get him soon. He prayed that they would all be safe and that nothing bad was happening.
When grown-ups did weird things and looked scared, he couldn't help but to think that something bad was happening.
Nightfall had come and everyone was ready to call it a night. Kurenai had just made it back into the kitchen to join the other ladies for a cup of tea when Deidara suddenly burst in. "We need some boiled water now Kurenai, and Yakumo, you get me iced water. Anko, I need blankets, and towel, lots of towels now! Bring them to the lords' bedroom!" With that the frazzled blond rushed out the door. He seemed to be screaming at the top of his head, barking orders to anyone that he could spot.
"What's going on?" Anko asked, pissed that she was being asked to do something just as she had just sat down to eat.
"Who knows, but we should do as he says. He did say the lords needed it," Kurenai sighed, moving to place some water to boil.
"Ice water, should I just grab fresh water and place ice on it?" Yakumo was confused.
"I guess," Kurenai said, not sure how much water she needed to boil, but decided to go ahead and boil a bucket full. Yakumo wheeled a small cart near her that would help them carry the water. Getting the water to the second floor would be a challenge.
In the time that the water boiled, Anko finished shoveling her food into her mouth and went to go find the requested blankets and towels. When everything was ready all three walked close to the stairs, thinking about how they were going to carry everything. That was when Ikou and Hanawa came and helped them all get everything to the second floor. As a team of two and two they carefully brought the water up the stairs.
They all flinched, startled when they heard lord Sasuke scream. Juugo opened the door slightly when they knocked urgently, their expressions were shocked and scared, wondering even more what was going on. Juugo of course blocked their view from anything that was happening, his face set in a tight glare that told them he wouldn't allow them to come too close.
Juugo reached for the towels and blankets before rushing back inside, closing the door in their faces. They were not allowed to see what was going on. Ikou and Hanawa glanced at each other and quickly understood what was happening. They settled the water buckets on the floor. Their panic had now turned into anticipation, was this really happening now?
"You guys should go," Ikou said, turning to the ladies. That was when Deidara stepped out, reaching to take the boiling water first when he spotted it on the floor. The blond dragged it inside, and closed the door once more. The same happened with the cold water, when several more screams sounded from Lord Sasuke.
"Wait, what is going on, why is Lord Sasuke screaming like that!" Anko and Kurenai both demanded, anger and concern clear in their face. "He sounds like he's being killed, why is Lord Sasuke screaming like that!"
"Where is Lord Itachi!" Yakumo had fear painted all over her face.
Another scream ripped out of Sasuke, making the women jump to attention. They wanted to go in there and help him, make sure that he was alright and safe. Their Lord Sasuke might be a bit of a brat, but they loved him! He didn't deserve to be in pain like that.
"WHAT IS GOING ON!" Anko demanded.
"Settle down ladies," Asuma said as he walked over to them. He was carrying more blankets and towels. "Lord Sasuke is just fine, lord Itachi is there with him." Even as he said that, hearing Sasuke cry out once more in pain really didn't appease them.
"Why is Lord Sasuke screaming like that, Lord Itachi would never allow that!" Yakumo snapped, at this point all three women had tears in their eyes as they stood there, helpless, and wanting to help their lord. The three of them looked like they wanted to claw down the door that kept them from knowing what was happening inside. Anko moved to try and open it, only to find it locked.
Fuck!
"More towels!" The door suddenly opened to show Deidara once more. Anko jumped back in shock. The blond was sweating, and looking panicked as Asuma rushed to hand over the towels. The door was shortly slammed closed once more. Asuma sighed, and rubbed his forehead in concern, before turning to everyone else. Noting how on edge everyone seemed, he tried to think of a way to get them all to calm down.
"Hey why don't we go and have some tea or something," Asuma offered, smiling sweetly at everyone. The men nodded, thinking it was a great idea but the women bristled, they were not happy with what he had just offered.
Kurenai was filled with disbelief that Asuma can think of only relaxing when their Lord Sasuke was screaming in pain. She walked over to him and slapped him, seething at him. This seemed to catch Asuma off guard but found himself unable to protest when he saw how hurt and scared Kurenai's adorably stubborn face looked. This woman, how had he not noticed her before, she was stunning…
"How dare you think we will leave here without knowing what is wrong with Lord Sasuke! What if he needs our help and you think tea is the answer!"
"He's fine!" Asuma tried to reason, reaching for her hand. She snatched her hand away from him, crossing her arms as she scowled. "He really is," Asuma tried once more. "He's with Lord Itachi, and you know he would never allow any harm to come to him."
"He really is with lord Itachi, he's alright." Ikou tried to help.
More screaming followed, along with some cursing. The men found that the women weren't budging, and Anko looked like she was close to killing someone if something was not done soon. The more Sasuke agonized inside, the more the women were determined to stand their ground. Sasori, Genma and Hayate joined them then, bringing more towels. The door opened once more to hand off some of the messy towels to Sasori, and the fresh ones were taken from him.
Anko was done!
She turned and started to demand, "Fuck you guys, what the hell is going-" but her words fell short when they heard the sound of a baby's cry. She paused. Looking towards the door curiously and confused. The other two women were similarly apprehensive and confused as well.
Asuma, Ikou, Hanawa, and Genma all sighed in relief. "I think it was a success," Genma murmured and the men cheered, throwing around congratulations while shaking hands and hugging each other. For them, the heir to their lords had just been born. It was a day full of pure happiness that warmed their hearts.
Deidara stepped out, shakily he grinned with a thumbs up before leaving to find Sasori, glad that everything had gone alright. Half an hour later and with the cries of the baby settled, Juugo and Kimimaro walked out as well, carrying more dirtied towels, bed sheets, and blankets. Both men looked frazzled, but their expressions were filled with joy and relief.
"How is Lord Sasuke, and the baby?" Asuma was quick to ask the two softly smiling men.
"They are both healthy and safe." Kimimaro happily announced, "Our lords have a beautiful baby boy. Both are now resting."
Happy to hear the news the men started to follow Kimimaro and Juugo, thinking that a few celebratory drinks were in order. They would personally congratulate their lords later. On their way they let Karin and Suigetsu, who were in the living room, know about the good news. Karin exclaimed with shock while Suigetsu did a celebratory dance.
"What….what is going on?" Anko wondered, feeling completely confused over everything. Their lords…had a baby?
"I have no idea," Kurenai walked over to the door and knocked. "But I want to find out!"
Inside in their bedroom, Sasuke had been cleaned and lightly redressed in comfortable sweats and an opened button up white shirt. He was comfortably settled over soft pillows and warm blankets, gently holding his newborn son. Sasuke smiled at him. Despite being exhausted he was glowing with joy as he held his son close to his bare chest, keeping the small body warm against him. The tiny baby was silently sleeping, and Sasuke found himself counting the fingers on each of his hands, the toes on his little feet, the tuff of raven hair on his head, and the soft still slightly redden pale skin. He was unable to believe that he and Itachi had created such a perfect being.
Itachi smiled softly at the sight, taking a seat beside Sasuke now that everything was settled, and kissed his forehead, "You did so well Sasuke, I'm so proud." He praised, and reached to caress his son's cheek. He too was unable to believe that the child was real. That this was their son, and yet at the same time he felt pride and joy just knowing he was here, and he was real. "How are you feeling?" he asked as he once more turned his attentions to his husband.
"A bit tired, but very happy," Sasuke sighed, moving to lean against Itachi. "Maybe sleepy too," he muttered, closing his eyes.
Itachi wanted to tell Sasuke to rest and that he will take their baby to his basinet, but he could see that his husband was not done bonding with their son. For now, he just watched over both of them. That was when suddenly there was a knock at the door. Sasuke groaned softly, reluctant to let Itachi move away from him. Itachi kissed his forehead and cheek as he helped him to settle down against his pillow. Sasuke glared at the door, before looking down at his son again, smiling.
Itachi flinched when the door was knocked more urgently, and wondered if something had happened as he finally opened the door. On the other side three slightly pissed off women were standing, looking very much like an unmovable force. "Kurenai, Anko, Yakumo, what can I do for you?" he asked them, raising an eyebrow at them.
"Nothing! We just want to know what has happened to Lord Sasuke," Kurenai barked, althought deep inside she felt relief to know that Lord Itachi really was in there with Lord Sasuke. Deep inside she still held on to the belief that Lord Itachi would never hurt Lord Sasuke. Yet she couldn't get the screams out of her head.
"Lord Itachi, you didn't hurt lord Sasuke did you?" Yakumo asked, tears in her eyes. While she too believed that he wouldn't, she couldn't help but ask after all that she had heard.
"We want to see lord Sasuke!" Anko on the other hand was not playing any games and got to the point.
Itachi frowned, but opened the door fully enough for them to walk inside. He could see that they were concerned about his husband. It seemed that they were not going to go away unless they got to see him. The women felt relief at being allowed entrance and bowed their heads as they entered, their eyes quickly scanning the room.
It was warm inside, and felt utterly safe in such a strange way. They quickly noted that Sasuke was in the bed settled around several plush pillows, and soft looking blankets covered him as he held what was clearly a new born in his arms. The tiny little thing was bundled in a white soft looking blanket and it seemed to be sleeping soundly against Sasuke's chest.
The women slowly approached, awed at the sight. Sasuke blinked at them, wondering what was wrong for a second before recalling that men shouldn't be able to have children and they probably wanted an explanation.
"Sasuke, it seems Kurenai, Anko, and Yakumo were worried about you," Itachi spoke, making the women jump a little. He chuckled at their reaction. It wasn't that they were scared, so much as completely curious about his son.
"I'm fine, just a bit tired after everything," Sasuke answered with a tired smile.
"Is…is it real?" Anko asked.
"What?" Sasuke asked with a slight frown.
"Oh…ah the baby," She shifted where she stood, obviously not knowing what else to do.
"Yes, of course. He's mine and Itachi's son." Sasuke smiled at the cautious women. They obviously wanted to ask how it was possible, but that was not something Sasuke exactly wanted to explain. It seemed like they weren't going to ask either, which was smart as they were seeing that the child was real and all. Instead, he decided to let them get some of their curiosity sated and said, "You're welcomed to get a closer look."
With that the women flocked over closer, gushing over the small baby. The baby wiggled, making a few sounds at having his cheeks and little hands touched in different directions. "Aww, I think he's getting angry," Kurenai giggled when the baby made an angry sound and seemed to move away from their touch and closer to Sasuke.
"He's like you already lord Sasuke," Yakumo joked making the ladies all giggle.
"He looks like lord Sasuke too," Kurenai said. She could see both Sasuke and Itachi in the baby if she was being honest.
"Have you named him already?" Anko asked.
"His name is Daiichi," Sasuke said, and suddenly yawned. His baby did as well, the little thing nuzzling closer into Sasuke's chest as he did. Noticing how tired their lord was they decided it was time to leave. They smiled at the way Itachi didn't once stop being on alert while they were around his husband and son. The women bid their goodbyes and walked out of the room, softly closing the door. Itachi walked over and made sure to lock it before going back to Sasuke.
Sasuke smiled sleepily at him and reached for him.
Itachi leaned in to kiss him, and once more climbed into bed with him. Sasuke leaned against Itachi, falling into a light sleep. Itachi found himself unable to sleep as he kept watch over his husband and son as both of them slept.
"Welcome to the world, Daiichi," He whispered as he smiled at his son.
Sasuke awoke, feeling comfortable, warm and sore all at the same time. He could feel he was surrounded by the familiarity of his soft pillows and covers, but as he felt around, he found that his husband was nowhere near his reach. "Itachi," he softly called, opening his eyes fully and letting them run red when he was met by the darkness of their bedroom. Once he was able to see he found that his husband was sitting on the edge of the bed looking over the basinet that held their newborn. He smiled, trying to reach for him again.
Itachi turned at the sound of his husband calling for him, and moved closer to him. He pressed a kiss to Sasuke's forehead, gently running his fingers over his sides and asking him how he was feeling. When Sasuke said fine and that he wanted to see their baby Itachi moved to get the new born and gently handed the calm child to his birth giver.
"He's so beautiful," Sasuke murmured, kissing his son's soft cheek.
"Yes he is," Itachi agreed.
Their son was now two day's old, but neither of them could bare to part too long from him. Itachi knew he would have to go back to his work soon, but for now he decided that he wanted to remain with his husband and son as much as possible.
It was helpful that Genma and Hayate had assured him that everything was running smoothly. Even so, Itachi still went out of his way to check just to be sure as well as make meals for Sasuke. He had also learned from Kimimaro how to prepare the bottle of milk for Daiichi. Although, most of the time, Sasuke would take care of feeding their son. It was strange, but something that Kyuubi had mentioned in passing, that Sasuke would be able to breast feed their baby, because Naruto was able to. Just because it didn't look like they had breast or whatever didn't mean they didn't produce it.
Itachi found himself actually fascinated by the sight of it.
Sasuke turned to Itachi once more, "I want a shower," he murmured. Itachi had not allowed him to shower any time after the birth, wanting to keep him warm after the birthing but Sasuke was starting to feel the need for one. He was also feeling a lot more confident that he'll be able to stand on his own.
"Yeah, okay." Itachi said.
Sasuke grinned, letting Itachi take their son. He threw off the covers and made his way to their bathroom happy that he wasn't as shaky as before and was able to walk by himself. Sasuke left the door open as he stripped down and turned on the water. Itachi shook his head at Sasuke's energy, and settled Daiichi back in his bassinet. Their son shifted a bit, but other than blinking up at him owlishly, didn't make much of a fuss.
Itachi kissed his cheek and then moved to open the curtains, letting the morning sun light the room. He then pulled off the bed sheets and covers, exchanging them for fresh clean ones. By the time Sasuke was done showering their bed was ready for him once again. He walked into the bedroom with nothing but a towel wrapped around his waist while he used a smaller one to dry his hair.
He walked closer to Itachi, allowing him to take over on drying his hair. Before either of them knew it they were kissing, devouring each other's faces, their bodies writhing against each other. Sasuke's arms were already around Itachi's neck, pulling him in closer but it was Itachi that had to pull back and stop them from going too far.
Sasuke groaned, softly whispering that he wanted.
"You just gave birth, I highly doubt your body is ready for any of that," Itachi chuckled. Sasuke rolled his eyes.
"I already checked myself, It looks like it's healing just fine." Sasuke said, turning around to show Itachi.
Itachi moved closer to him, nibbling over his neck as he whispered, "I love you Sasuke, but you and I are going to have to be patient."
"But Itachi," Sasuke pouted at him. Itachi smirked, leading him to the closet instead. Sasuke laughed, shaking his head. He knew he shouldn't be tempting Itachi, because he was right, he was still not healed and was sore. But the need was there and Sasuke found himself hating having to wait.
Still, he did like the lingering touches, and the way Itachi helped him dress. The way Itachi doted on him and picked him up before bringing him to bed where he immediately noted that their bed sheets had been changed. Clean and fresh. Perfect.
It just made him want Itachi that much more.
And they couldn't even fool around a bit at all. Neither of them really knew how to stop once things got started and that was why they couldn't risk it. Itachi peeked at their son, finding the small little one still wide awake and looking around. Daiichi blinked when he saw his father. Itachi smiled as he gently picked him up, bringing him over to Sasuke. The baby made small happy sounds at being back in his papa's arms.
"I'm going to go get you breakfast, please be good."
"I'm always good niisan," Sasuke huffed as he leaned back comfortably with his son. Itachi kissed him once more before he left. Sasuke waited until Itachi was out of the room before turning to his son and saying, "Your daddy is such a worry wart you know that," he smiled when his son just blinked up at him. "…I guess that is because he loves us so much." Sasuke whispered offering his finger to his son who took it in his strong little grip. When Daiichi yawned, Sasuke began to gently hum at him. That was when there was a knock at his door.
Sasuke blinked, thinking that it was odd before calling for the person to come in.
The door opened and showed that Juugo was there helping Karin keep her balance. The woman looked like she was struggling just to keep herself upright. One second she looked like she was mad but her expression lit up when she spotted Sasuke and his baby. "Oh my God, it's true!" she gasped. It was two days now that she heard the baby had been born but she had yet to see him. She had been getting impatient seeing as she'd only see Itachi walking back and forth from the kitchen and back to the bedroom.
Speaking of which, Sasuke's bedroom was warm, nice, and comforting. She felt her mood gently settle at the atmosphere in the room.
"Sorry Lord Sasuke, she really wanted to see you and the baby," Juugo explained.
"That's alright Juugo, you can let her in," Sasuke said, relaxing once more against his pillows. Karin waddled over to him and Sasuke had to wince at the sight. She was completely breathless by the time that she reached the bed and had to take a seat. "Have you had Kimimaro check you Karin, you look like you're really struggling." Sasuke said with concern.
"I have, I even asked him if it was possible for this baby to come yet and he said that it still wasn't time," Karin sobbed. "I hate Suigetsu for this!"
"Just hold on a bit longer," Sasuke said. "You'll see what a relief it is once you've given birth."
"Was…was it painful?" She asked, looking a bit nervous. Her eyes settled over the baby that was sleeping in Sasuke's arms.
"Very…but you know what, Naruto was right. It's worth it," Sasuke said, turning to look at his son. Karin looked like she had a hard time believing him. "When you your baby everything becomes worth it," Sasuke murmured.
"I just want this baby out already," She groaned.
That was when Itachi entered the bedroom, holding a tray with Sasuke's breakfast. Itachi moved to settle the tray on the nightstand. Suigetsu was right behind him. He frowned when he spotted Karin. "Karin, you're supposed to be in bed! Kimimaro said that it was too dangerous for you to be walking around with how huge you are."
Everyone froze, dreading Suigetsu's words.
"What did you just call me," Karin slowly and deliberately asked.
Suigetsu only then realized his mistake, "I uh…you're dainty and delicate, we need to make sure that you don't fall over and break…"
"YOU ASSHOLE!" Karin was not having it, as she started to yell, struggling to get off the bed as she wanted to murder Suigetsu. Itachi gasped when he noted that she was moving too carelessly and moved to catch her before she fell off the bed. Karin cried out, startled and devastated as she realized that she could have fallen and hurt her baby.
She started to cry, clinging onto Itachi who himself wasn't sure what to do. Daiichi was startled by her cries and started eto cry as well.
"Is she okay?" Sasuke asked, shifting to carefully try and get off the bed and reach them. Itachi turned to him.
"Stay in bed Sasuke, she'll be fine. I'll have Kimimaro check her. Juugo can you take her to the medical room?" Itachi asked. Juugo quickly moved to pick her up, gently cradling Karin who was still crying loudly. Suigetsu snapped out of his shock and followed them. Itachi then moved to help Sasuke stand. He knew he'd want to make sure his cousin was really alright.
Itachi took their son and gently calmed him down as Sasuke moved to pull on his shoes and a sweater. Itachi followed him out as the two of them went to the medical room.
As they reached the medical ward they could hear Karin complaining of pain. Kimimaro looked worried. "Is she okay?" Sasuke asked.
"She's physically okay, she's not injured. But she's gone into a bit of shock and she's hit labor. She will be giving birth in a few hours." Kimimaro explained, "I'm afraid of her mental state over this. It might not be a happy birth." Kimimaro moved to collect everything that he will need. He had already sent Suigetsu and Juugo out to collect some towels, blankets, and at least boiling water.
"Let me talk to her," Sasuke urged, wanting to be there for his cousin. He turned to his son when he heard him begin to cry. The constant screaming seemed to have agitated him again. "Oh Daiichi," he said, not wanting to leave his son.
"It's fine Sasuke, be there for Karin. I'll take care of our son." Itachi said, kissing his cheek. Sasuke nodded. "I forgot his bottle so I'll go get it and come back okay," Itachi said as he left the room with Daiichi whimpering.
Sasuke walked over to Karin, reaching for her hand. "It's okay Karin. It's going to be okay."
Karin turned her tear stained face to Sasuke, her lip still wobbling, "Sasuke, I was so careless just now, I could have fallen and killed my baby…if Ita-itachi had not been there," She cried more, unable to finish that sentence. "Sasuke I don't want my baby to die!"
"It's okay, have trust that Kimimaro will make sure your baby will make it through" Sasuke said, rubbing her back.
"Sasuke my baby is being born premature. It was not supposed to be this way. This is all my fault," she sobbed.
"Hush, you will be just fine okay! Have some faith in yourself." Sasuke urged. "Neither of you is injured, it will be okay. Be strong."
"It hurts,"
"That's normal, you're giving birth. It's normal for it to hurt," Sasuke said.
Karin looked at him now for support, "Okay, okay but you have to let me know what is not normal." She begged, closing her eyes as another sharp painful cramp racked through her body. Sasuke sighed, holding her hand, assuring her it was normal.
Soon enough, Kurenai, Anko, and Yakumo where in there helping Kimimaro with what would be a very long and shocking birth.
Outside of the delivery room Suigetsu stood in front of the door, waiting. He refused to sit, already berating himself that it was his fault that she was now in there, giving birth way before she should have been. He couldn't help but to think that he was the worst person in the world. Itachi had tried to tell him that there was no use blaming himself. That he needed to get ready to help Karin now that their child would be here.
But nothing was getting through to him.
Itachi sat in the bench that had been placed outside, holding his son gently to burp him as he had just finished his bottle of milk. Daiichi spit up a bit, but other than that he looked like a sleepy and comfortable baby. Itachi gently wrapped him in his blanket to make sure he remained warm and cradled him in his arms.
Itachi lost himself in watching his son breathe that he was actually a little startled when Suigetsu moved to take a seat next to him. "How do you do it Itachi? How can you be so calm. Even when it was Sasuke the one that was giving birth…"
"I wasn't exactly calm, I was scared as well. I just had to be strong and not let Sasuke know that. I need him to be able to rely on me. It wouldn't do for both of us to be panicking in that fear." Itachi explained. "The thing is that I am sure that Sasuke can be strong by himself, even if he was scared he'd do what he can to succeed despite that fear, but sometimes it's nice to be able to rely on someone and I want to be that for Sasuke. I want him to be able to lean on me," Itachi turned to look at Suigetsu who looked like he was ready to put himself down once more.
"I've been so angry with Karin lately I had been getting frustrated with all her demands. I just stupidly said the wrong things to get her angry and now she's here."
"Karin and you fight a lot, I will give you that. You shouldn't have said what you did, true, but what are you going to do now to make it right?"
Suigetsu didn't even have to think about it as he said with determination, "I'll be there for her and the baby."
The next few hours had Suigetsu pacing back and forth, only jumping when the screaming started. With the women coming and running back and forth to get what was needed, there was no doubt that Karin was now giving birth. It wouldn't be long now.
Suigetsu was nervous. He was soon going to be a father.
His head turned towards Itachi and Daiichi when he heard the baby begin to cry. Itachi had been so patient with his baby. Suigetsu was actually in awe to see him leave a few times to change a diaper and make another bottle of milk for his son. The hours had been entertaining to watch Itachi fuss over Daiichi.
Suigetsu had even noticed how Daiichi calmed easily when Itachi ran his fingers over his hair or small back. Even just when Itachi would talk to him the baby seemed to turn his head and listen to his father, calming down. But now it seemed like the baby was even more restless. Suigetsu had watched Itachi check his diaper, even tried to feed him but nothing seemed to be calming him down.
Itachi of course simply held him, but it was bothering Suigetsu who was becoming concerned with his cries. Daiichi would calm but looked like he was unhappy and he'd cry once more.
"What's wrong? Is something wrong with him?" Suigetsu finally asked. Itachi looked up at him with a raised eyebrow.
"Daiichi is fine," Itachi assured.
"Then why is he crying, is he hurt, why won't he eat if he's hungry…did he poop himself…?" Suigetsu was tugging at his hair now looking panicked.
Itachi gave him a look, "Calm down, Daiichi is missing Sasuke that's all," Itachi explained.
"What?"
"He wants his papa. I'm sure that he's hungry to, but something tells me he wants to be breastfed." Itachi answered. His son was whimpering, looking up at him with watery eyes. Itachi offered him his finger and it seemed to settle him for now.
"How can you tell that's what he wants?"
Itachi blinked at that. There was no real way that he knew what his son wanted. It was just a feeling. "Because he's my son," Itachi said instead making Suigetsu gap at him. His gaze went from Itachi to Daiichi who was tightly holding on to his father's fingers with a scrunched up little face. It looked like he wanted to cry again.
"I'm sorry Daiichi, I made your papa go away to deal with my problems," the white haired man cried, dropping down to his knees. That caused Daiichi to start crying.
"Suigetsu,"
The white haired man jumped at the sound of his name and turned around to see Sasuke glaring at him. "Sasuke, what…"
"Go in there and meet your babies, now!" Sasuke snapped. This caused Suigetsu to get up and run to the delivery room, glad that he was finally able to go inside. Daiichi's cries settled when he heard his papa and was now looking up at him. Sasuke smiled and moved to take his son into his arms.
"Babies?" Itachi asked.
"Yeah, it took so long because Karin had…"
"TWINS!"
Followed by Suigetsu's scream were the cries of two startled babies. Karin started screaming, telling Suigetsu off.
"She had twin girls," Sasuke said, smiling when he noted that his son was determingly still holding his daddy's finger while he nuzzled into his chest. "Let's go to our bedroom, I'll feed Daiichi there. I'm kind of tired after all that." Sasuke groaned. Itachi stood, with no choice but to follow closely pressed to Sasuke as his son refused to let go.
Once in their bedroom, Sasuke laid down as he fed Daiichi. Itachi waited until both were asleep to move Daiichi to his crib and then laid next to Sasuke for a short nap. He knew his son would sleep for a few hours and he'd have to be ready to get up and check on him.
Two days later Sasuke smirked when he saw Suigetsu who was strapped with two crying baby girls. Karin was thankfully doing fine and was currently resting. Because their children cried a lot, Suigetsu was forced into the living room to try and calm them down.
"Why is Daiichi so calm? Itachi didn't have all these trouble getting him to calm down when he cried." Suigetsu cried.
"Daiichi has always been a calm baby, even when he hadn't been born." Sasuke proudly said.
"Okay, stop showing off," Suigetsu glared at Sasuke, hating how easy things seemed to be going for him. He was really having a hard time with his girls. He had checked that they had their diapers clean, that they were fed, and that they were comfortable. He just couldn't understand why they kept crying. Placing down the one he had been carrying into the portable bassinet with her sister he despaired as they cried louder.
Sasuke shifted over to have a look at them, gently shifting Daiichi so he could take a look at the crying girls. The first time Daiichi had seen them crying he had started to cry as well, but now he just watched. Although the two girls were twins, one had Karin's fiery red hair and had been named Erza. The other twin had Suigetsu's white hair and was named Anju. "Have you tried talking to them calmly?" Sasuke asked.
Suigetsu shook his head, gently rocking the bassinet. "No, do you think it will help?"
"Yeah why not, Itachi and I always talk to Daiichi, I'm not sure if he can understand us but it seems to calm him down," Sasuke explained. "Although before that, before he had been born we used to talk to him as well."
"I tried to do that but Karin would just get mad." Suigetsu sighed, "Hey there, please don't cry so much daddy is trying his best." Suigetsu started to speak to his daughters. The girls seemed to perk up at the sound of his voice, their eyes opening to look up at him and their cries quieting down to slight hic cups and whimpers. "Oh my god it's working, Sasuke look it's working."
"I can see that Suigetsu, calm down." Sasuke narrowed his eyes when he saw that the girls scrunched up their little faces and looked uncomfortable. "Suigetsu when you fed them did you help burp them?" Sasuke asked.
"Huh, what do you mean?"
"Really," Sasuke sighed, "Pick up your one of them and set her down like this," he said while demonstrating with Daiichi who simply started to suckle on his little fist. Suigetsu did so and gasped when his daughter threw up all over him.
"What the hell." He groaned.
"Oh yeah, you might want to place a little blanket to protect your clothes," Sasuke chuckled and brought Daiichi up, "Right my love, uncle Suigetsu is so silly huh," Sasuke pressed a kiss to his son's nose since he simply blinked at him. Sasuke pulled his little hand out of his mouth and cradled him in his arms.
Suigetsu shot Sasuke a glare but felt relief as one of his daughters let out a yawn. He quickly moved to get the other one and burped her as well. Both of them already looked much more comfortable. "Isn't it weird that you seem like such a good mommy Sasuke?"
"It's not weird, I have a son now," Sasuke said.
"True." Suigetsu sighed, watching how Erza and Anju started to fall asleep. "I guess I'm just bad at it, I can't seem to take care of my girls at all." He dropped his head down.
"You're trying and that's more than enough Suigetsu. Itachi and I also make mistakes and we don't one hundred percent know everything that Daiichi wants, but we know him for four days so far. As it goes we will learn more about him." Sasuke patted his friends back. "For now all they really will do is poop, eat, and sleep, just relax and try to keep them safe."
"You're right," Suigetsu could already feel some of the stress melting at the sight of his sleeping daughters. He had to remember to burp them, he had to remember to make sure they weer clean and comfortable. It was new, because usually he cared only for himself. That's probably the hardest part that he didn't know what he was always doing.
But he was trying.
One day at a time, and he would get better.
"Oh, Daiichi is asleep," Sasuke whispered, smiling at his son's sleeping face.
"Hey come to think about it, what is that thing over there?" Suigetsu asked in a whisper, pointing to the large rectangle that had been placed in the middle of the living room, just above the fire place.
"Ah, that's called a television, Kurenai said we should get some," Sasuke said.
"What's it used for?" Suigetsu asked.
"I don't know," Sasuke shrugged.
"Well can't we get Kurenai to explain it?"
"Didn't you hear?" Sasuke got up, "She's out on a date with Asuma,"
"What…" Suigetsu looked shocked.
"Yeah," Sasuke waved goodbye to Suigetsu, "I'm going to go take a nap in Itachi's office,"
"Dude he's working," Suigetsu called back. Sasuke made a motion that he didn't care and went on his way. "He's rude, but he knows his stuff I guess," Suigetsu whispered to his daughers, gently caressing their little cheeks. He had not taken much time to actually look at them because of Karin screaming and cursing him, but now that they were sleeping and calm he couldn't help but think that his daughters were beautiful.
And he had helped make them.
Pride swelled into his chest as he smiled at them. "Please grow up healthy and happy, that's all I really want from you two," He whispered, unable to look away from them. For now, he would enjoy the peace. He just knew that the moment Karin woke up it would be gone.
Jin was so happy and in awe as he looked at the baby in his uncle Sasuke's arms. He was so cute and tiny. He was scared to come close to him.
"It's okay Jin, you can look at the baby," His father encouraged.
"If you sit down for a bit I'll let you hold him," Sasuke offered the small child. Jin lit up. He quickly sat down on the medical bed and watched in awe as uncle Sasuke placed the baby in his arms. He was instructed to hold his little head and back gently.
"Whoa, what's his name?" the five year old asked, doing his best to be very careful.
"His name is Daiichi," Sasuke said.
Kimimaro then started to examine Sasuke to make sure that everything was alright with him. All the while Jin was distracted, looking at Daiichi's sleeping face. He gasped when his little eyes began to open, dark and endless just like his uncle Sasuke and Itachi. Daiichi was just so cute. "Hi, I'm Jin," he whispered, offering his finger to the baby.
When Daiichi took it, Jin decided that this kid would be his brother!
When he met Erza and Anju he was more than happy to make them his sisters.
Four months after Daiichi's birth, Itachi had a meeting and Sasuke had decided to join him. He and Sasuke had decided that his parents should know about Daiichi and let them be part of his life. The two had parted ways momentarily as Sasuke didn't want everyone to know about Daiichi yet. The meeting involved Itachi's parents, some of his uncles and aunts seeing as it in concern to their community and renovations. Itachi left Sasuke in the lobby, telling him that he will be back soon.
Once the meeting was over, he was able to talk to his parents and mentioned his son to them.
"Wait, what?"
"Sasuke and I have a son, we would like for you to meet him," Itachi said. "They are in the lobby right now, let's go," Itachi wanted to get to his husband and son as soon as possible. The meeting had already been a lot longer than anticipated. Sasuke might be bored out of his mind. As they reached the lobby with some skepticism, Madara and Izuna both jumped when they heard baby laughter.
When they came into the lobby they gasped when they saw Sasuke with a small baby in his arms. The child was smiling up at Sasuke, reaching for his face as he lay on Sasuke's chest. Sasuke of course was lying over the couch making faces at his son. Every time the child caught the expressions he would let out a fit of giggles that were simply adorable.
"Oh look Daddy is back," Sasuke said, smiling when he saw Itachi.
"Da da da da," The baby babbled looking around. Sasuke sat up and turned Daiichi to face who had come into the room. Immediately the baby's eyes lit up at the sight of his father and started to reach for him with slight unintelligible baby noises.
"Daiichi, are you having fun," Itachi asked reaching for his son who immediately buried his face into his chest. Itachi sat next to Sasuke and then turned to look at his parents.
"Wait, that child, he looks just like you" Madara said, stating the obvious. Izuna on the other hand was silent, making math in her head.
"If that baby is yours that means that you were planning on having it before you even came here!" She exclaimed. "Who's the mother?"
"I am," Sasuke scowled. The idea of anyone else claiming his son didn't bode well with him. Izuna had to take a seat. Although Itachi had already tried to explain that it was his and Sasuke's son she really couldn't wrap her head around what they were trying to say to her.
"Alright, enough joking around, how did you two get the baby?" Madara asked.
Itachi sighed, and told his parents the whole story. The two of them looked like they didn't believe anything that he had just said. "Either way, if you believe us or not, Daiichi is our son and as his grandparents we want you to be a part of his life…Just please behave yourself dad, he is my son to raise not yours." Itachi stated.
Madara and Izuna look at each other briefly before looking at the new young family. There was no denying that Daiichi was Sasuke's baby, with that spiky hair of his, and he even had his eyes. As for everything else it was hard to really differentiate the difference of Sasuke and Itachi seeing as the two were brothers. Of course the child would have the same eye color and similar hair color as both his parents—if Sasuke and Itachi were his parents.
"Alright, I have no idea what you get out of telling us that Sasuke and you are his real parents, but we believe you." Izuna said.
"Really mom," Itachi deadpanned.
"Whatever makes you happy," She smiled at him.
Itachi decided not to argue with her. "Alright," he said.
"Now, let me get a better look at my grandson," She stood and made her way over to scoop the child into her arms. "Come to grandma baby!" Daiichi froze, watching her closely. There was something familiar about her. She started to coo and make baby talk towards him, pinching his little cheeks, but it wasn't until she kissed his cheek that he started to cry and push her face away, reaching for his parents.
"That's not how you greet a baby," Madara said, taking Daiichi. Daiichi paused in his crying to look at him, but remained tense. "Hello, I'm your grandpa, Nice to meet -uck" Daiichi wasn't having it. He ended up grabbing Madara's hair and pulling hard. His little expression was teary and angry as he tried to make the man let him go.
Itachi sighed, standing up to reach for his son. Daiichi immediately let go of Madara's hair in favor of reaching for his daddy. "Mom, dad, both of you are a little too much," he said. Daiichi's little hands fisted into Itachi's clothes, refusing to let go as he glared at his grandparents.
"What are you talking about, you're just making him be a shy baby by not letting him be around more people," Izuna huffed, "Come here Daiichi sweet heart," she said, reaching for him. Daiichi shook his head, burying his face into Itachi's neck and refusing to let go of his daddy.
"No I think it's just you, he does just fine with the staff at our home," Itachi said.
"Maybe it's because we're new faces, soon he'll get used to us," Madara muttered, crossing his arms. Sasuke started to laugh. "Why are you laughing brat," Madara hissed.
"Because you two are terrible with kids, how did you even raise Itachi?" Sasuke asked moving to stand next to Itachi.
"We did our best," Madara said after a moment of hesitation.
"We'll get better," Izuna sighed.
"Just be gentle, Daiichi is a smart baby." Sasuke said.
Even so, Daiichi refused to release Itachi or give his grandparents a second shot. After telling Madara and Izuna that they could come over to visit them, both of them started to head home. There was just one more stop they wanted to make. That was to pick up a gold baby bracelet with Daiichi's name on it. Sasuke placed it on Daiichi's little hand, making the baby look at it with curiosity.
"It's perfect," Itachi said, ruffling his son's hair.
"It's because our baby is perfect niisan," Sasuke said. Itachi chuckled, leaning in to kiss him.
"I love you Sasuke, with all my heart,"
"I love you too Itachi," Sasuke grinned.
In a way this could easily be the end, but I want to add a little more
After all, what will Naruto and the others think about Sasuke having a baby. And that's even if Sasuke going to let them know lol
XD See you guys.
