The final act. I hope you're ready for it.

Episode 39: Grand Finale/ Gabriel's Song

With Day & Night ending, the crowd gave their applause, if they weren't enjoying their food. At one table, a Xenomorph and a Predator were having an eating contest against each other, only for both of them to get outshined by Stitch and his cousins.

"Hey Mickey, I was wondering something," Gabriel said. "How do you guys handle more 'mature' properties like Alien?"

"Oh, we have strict rules in place so that certain content is kept out of the main part of the Magical World," Mickey explained. "So you don't have to worry about blood and gore if that's what you were wondering."

"Good to hear," Gabriel said. "I was a bit worried about a few of our audience members tonight, to be honest." He let out a sigh and grabbed his mic. "Alright, wish me luck." Going out onto the stage, the raven smiled as he looked out into the crowd. "Hey everyone, are you ready for the final act?"

The crowd cheered, but then went quiet as all the power in the building suddenly went out. Gabriel reached into his pocket and pulled out his phone, turning on the light to see what was up. "Horace, what happened to the power?"

"I dunno, boss," Horace called. "It looks like something's interfering with it. The whole block is out from the looks of it."

"I guess someone forgot to pay the electric bill," Pete laughed

"Uh, I can't see anything in here," a guest complained.

"Is the show over now?" another asked.

"I guess we should go," said a voice.

Gabriel looked out into the audience, his face falling before he shook his head and shouted, "Don't leave your seats yet! The show can- no, the show WILL go on! Jasiri, Brooklyn, Kairi, you ready?"

"I hope this works," Kairi called from her table with the other Keyblade Wielders.

"I trust you," Brooklyn nodded, giving a thumbs up.

Jasiri smiled from the crowd. "We're all behind you, Gabriel."

The raven nodded, taking a deep breath before reaching down and putting on his headphones. He raised his wings up, the sound of an orchestra warming up magically arising around him. With a flick of his wrist, a conductor's baton appeared in his hand, tapping the air a quieting the sound. Blue, red, and green particles floated around the air, with a white ball appearing in front of Gabriel that illuminated his face.

Tossing the ball to Jasiri, the hyena caught it in her mouth, a spectral drum set appearing before her. She started to play out a tune while Gabriel summoned another ball. Tossing it to Kairi, she caught it as well, creating a bass guitar similar in style to her Keyblade that she also began to play. Brooklyn caught a ball that was thrown his way as well, becoming an electric guitar with a sleek black finish.

Gabriel took a ball for himself, creating a keytar with purple in color with a star pattern. "A one, two, three, four!" And the music began, with the four friends playing, sending out magic that slowly started to liven up the room.

You close your eyes so tight that you cannot see a thing

Although the world outside is brighter than you think

Stuck in the shadows are the souls that have been lost

I'll tear the dark away with a single light of thought

The lights around Gabriel floated over to the tables, bringing light back to the audience as the song continued.

If your lost and confused wandering through a dream

And like a shooting star tears are falling down your face

I'll try to make a sound I'm sure that you can hear

To wipe your tears away and only bring you cheer

Gabriel smiled as he looked to Jasiri, remembering the times that the two were there for each other.

Singing and painting of a past that we can't change

Seven colors in the rainbow

My brush will point where we go

So let me see your smile!

A rainbow of colors shoots out around Gabriel, forming the Mickey Mouse symbol behind him before bursting out into the crowd.

With the wish we have in hand

I know that we can make a stand

To rise up and overcome our worst nights

Gabriel and Kairi duet together on the chorus, the scenery around them changing to Destiny Islands.

Hand to hand, star to star

Connecting us with all our hearts

Together we'll light up the night!

Shooting stars fall around them as the song goes into the next verse.

Though in the darkness is an abyss that goes so deep

If I just dive right in, I'll find my way to you

Feeling so lonely all that you can do is run

Moving on through the maze that is this thing called life

The lighting dims a bit as Gabriel thinks back to everyone that he's helped in the Magical World.

Look left, and then look right

We're turned around back at the start

But I know we'll find a way out

And with the strength in me now

Someday we'll be back together!

Gabriel and Jasiri share a look that shows how they'll overcome whatever is thrown at them.

With the wish we have in hand

I know that we can make a stand

To rise up and overcome our worst nights

Gabriel and Brooklyn duet next, the scenery becoming a rooftop in New York City during a midnight concert.

Eyes to eyes, dance and rejoice

As we all sing out with our voice

So let's party on until the morning sunrise!

As the bridge starts, Gabriel uses his magic to alter the song, adding his own flavor to the mix. He then changed his keytar into a guitar and played out he solo, his unique sound bringing power back to building and changing the main room into a dance floor.

If you reach out in your dreams know

I'll be there to take your hand

And I'll hold on tight forever

Our bond cannot be severed

So let me see your smile!

Gabriel held a hand out to Jasiri, the raven jumping down off the stage and letting his magic levitate himself and his friends into the air as they played on.

With the wish we have in hand

I know that we can make a stand

To rise up and overcome our worst nights

Soon the magic reached out to others, letting them float as everyone started dancing, much to Pete's disbelief.

There's no mistaking what we see

Our future's shining magically

So come on let's laugh right from the depths of our hearts!

Gabriel passed his instrument over to Mickey as he grabbed Jasiri, the hyena changing into her anthropomorphic form so they could properly dance together.

Only when the moment's right

A single spark inside ignites

I pray that my song will give you power

Everyone's hearts beat together as lights shone near their chests, rising up into the air and shining above them like stars.

For if you only just believe

We can accomplish anything

Your world view won't remain so narrow

I promise that I'll be your hero!

Singing the last line, Gabriel let the music play out, returning to the stage with Jasiri as they danced together, ending in the two sharing as kiss as the raven dipped his girlfriend. The audience cheered for the performance, returning to their seats as the magic wore off. Pete, however, was fuming mad, stomping onto the stage and grabbing Gabriel by the collar of his shirt.

"I thought I told you that you couldn't have any characters helping you out for any of your acts," Pete said angerly.

Gabriel just smiled, not threatened at all. "Technically, I didn't get any help from a character. My Fantasia magic can compel people to sing, dance, and play music, but that all comes from me and my imagination. If anything, this counts as audience participation, as I was the only one performing with my magic."

Pete growled. "Well, that's still cheating in my book, so I won the bet."

"Not so fast, Pete!" Mickey called, coming out on stage with his friends. "Gabriel followed your rules, even when you were trying to sabotage him!"

"The audience participating isn't against the rules," Minnie pointed out.

"Either way, I'm not giving up this place," Pete stammered.

"Oh I think you will," came a Scottish voice. Scrooge McDuck appeared on the stage, using his cane to make Pete let go of Gabriel. "Now then, if I'm understanding this right, this fella here is giving you all some trouble. Well then, I hereby fire him from ownership of this establishment."

"WHAT!?" everyone gasped.

"After that major blackout you caused, the city's going to be looking for someone to blame for he damages," Scrooge said. "And if they find out it was from this establishment, then the owner is going to be fined heavily."

Pete sweated a bit. "But I couldn't possible afford a lawsuit like that!"

"Then best be signing over the place to someone that can," Scrooge said, holding out a pen and paper. Pete quickly signed the document, then ran out of the place as fast as possible. "Now then, as the owner of the House of Mouse, I believe that there are a few changes that should be put in place."

"Oh great, this'll be just like last time," Donald sighed.

In a surprising move, Scrooge handed over the deed to the building to Mickey. "This place should belong to its namesake, correct? Consider the House of Mouse officially yours, Mickey."

"Oh boy!" Mickey cheered, the others joining in. "Looks like our days of dealing with Pete here are over!"

"Of course, you'll still be a part of the McDuck corporation, so I expect great things from you," Scrooge commented.

"And there's the other shoe," Daisy rolled her eyes.

"I've never worked for a millionaire before," Goofy said.

"He's a gazillionaire now, Goofy," Gabriel said. He then slapped his forehead in realization. "Oh shoot! We've still gotta sign off the show! Mike, take it away!"

"Tonight's show is sponsored by McDuck Adventures!" Mike announced. "Feeling that life is like a hurricane? Head on down to Duckburg for a one in a lifetime adventure with the richest duck in the world. From race cars, lasers, and aero planes, this trip to anywhere in the world is sure to be a duck-blur. The McDuck corporation is not responsible for any danger right behind you or strangers out to find you. Injuries caused before, during, or after crashes are not covered by trip expenses."

"Well, I hope you all enjoyed the show," Gabriel said, waving to the crowd. "I know I sure did. We'll see you next time at the new-managed House of Mouse!"

Author's Note

This chapter was so fun to write! The song that Gabriel performs is "Starmarker" by the Japanese band KANA-BOON, which serves as the second opening for season 5 of the anime "My Hero Academia." I used the short version of the song in the first chapter of this story, and now I revised my lyrics for the full version in this chapter. It captures Gabriel's personality well and what I would call his main theme.

As for the ending, Scrooge did buy out the House of Mouse once, but that episode had him way out of character compared to how he usually acts. In this one, since he's based on his more recent Ducktales 2017 version, he's a lot nicer and gives Mickey the deed to the club. Now they can put on the show how they want with Pete messing them up!

I'll give a thank you to everyone that commented or lent a character and story prompt to this story. I don't think it would have turned out the same without you guys.

Next Time: the epilogue. Let's see where everyone ended up after this magical night!
