I'm leaning towards keeping this story going a little while longer before starting a new one. What kind of other stories of the DP characters would you guys be interested in reading? I was thinking about going back to the end of book three and starting from there and doing something idk yet, like I did with this story, but I'm open to ideas!
Also, what do you guys think happened with Tess and Elijah? I'm curious to hear your guys' theories.
I tried to jump up to run to Tess but Derek held me firmly in place as Elijah left Ashe and Jeremy and walked over to her.
"I'm so sorry we woke you up," he said. "You really need sleep."
"I'm fine EJ," she said as she sat up.
Elijah flinched as she did, his nerves were fried. He sat beside her and put his arm around her to make himself relax.
"I think Chloe's going to explode if you don't say hi," Elijah said to her.
Tess smiled at me, "Hi sweetie."
"Hi," I felt so much relief seeing her smile. If something that was really bad had happened, she wouldn't be smiling.
Ashe finished with Jeremy's wounds and sat him up. She handed him a small towel to dry the tears off his face. The nurse brought over mugs of the tea, handing one to each of us and to Tess. She gave Emma a bowl instead of a mug. We all gave the drink a try besides Emma. She wasn't about to drink it like a dog. It wasn't bad really, the taste was very very subtle it mostly tasted like plain.
"Do you really have to wait until morning to help her?" Jeremy asked. "Can't you fix her leg now? She's in pain."
"We could," Elijah answered. "But I assumed she would want some time to rest first."
Emma shook her head, she wanted it over with now. Elijah nodded, hugged Tess, then he and Ashe left with Emma. They didn't want to do this in front of everyone.
"Are you all alright?" Tess asked us as she joined us on Emma's bed. Jeremy came over too and grabbed my good hand, holding it tightly. He was scared for Emma.
"Her parents were insane," I answered. "But we're fine."
Tess chuckled, "Aren't all parents a little crazy?"
"What was Elijah talking about on the phone?" I asked unable to wait any longer.
Tess gestured to the side of her stomach where her shirt was all bumpy. There were some bandages under her shirt covering her side.
"I had a little accident, it's fine."
"What was the accident?" I asked.
Derek's whole body tensed when he saw the outline of the bandages. His fear of a hurt baby returning.
Tess waved it off looking embarrassed, "Don't worry about it." She turned the attention to Jeremy. "What happened with you and Emma? Something seems off, you didn't go with her."
Jeremy looked down at the sheets, "I don't think I had experienced true werewolf level anger yet, so when I did, I didn't control it at all. I just let it out and screamed at her until she was bawling her eyes out."
Tess was in motherly mode now. She was determined to learn and fix.
"What made you so angry?" She asked.
"A guy from her pack claimed she was his mate and she was temporarily settling for me. He was ecstatic that she was back so he could be with her."
"And what did she say about it? Did she say it was true?"
Jeremy sighed, "I never gave her a chance to say two words."
"Well then here's what you need to do," Tess said. "You need to shush your lips next time she's human and give her all the time in the worlds to say everything and anything she wants to say. Let her get upset, get angry, defend herself, explain herself, everything. You got to shout anything you wanted at her, now its her turn to say what she needs to say."
Jeremy nodded picking at the sheet he stared at, "Sounds fair."
"Good," she smiled and grabbed his hand giving it a gently tug. "Come here."
She pulled Jeremy into a hug. When Jeremy was released from the hug, Derek spoke up.
"When will they be back?" Derek asked.
"It'll be a few hours I bet. They're not as skilled and fast as Matt. We should probably get some sleep instead of waiting for them."
Tess got up and went to the front door to flip the light switch. We all want to our beds except Derek like I had predicted. He was staying glued to me.
As we laid there drifting off to sleep and listening to the sound of the crackling fire, I whispered to Derek.
"You can't freak out again. You proved before against V that you can help Tess, you won't hurt her."
Derek, eyes halfway open, whispered back, "Things are different this time, she's injured already."
Derek gently kissed my cheek and the two of us let exhaustion take over and pull us into deep sleeps.
Morning eventually came, sunshine beamed right into my face through a window I hadn't noticed the night before. I yawned and looked around; everyone was still sleeping except Elijah. He was standing at the metal tables working on something.
I slipped out of the bed without waking Derek and walked over to him.
"Morning," I said to him, keeping my voice down.
"Hey," he said. "How's your hand?"
He set down the stuff in his hands and guided me back to the fireplace where we wouldn't have to be so quiet.
"It's fine, I guess. It hurts to move it though, something got me deep."
"You said that you got bitten by the werewolf, right?"
I nodded.
Elijah sighed, "How do you feel?"
I shrugged, "Normal. Nothing wolfy yet."
"Good," he said putting the pot of water on a hook over the fire. "You don't need to go through all that stuff again. Though I'm worried about your vampiric side, there's less holding it back now. You need to tell me if you feel anything weird."
I saw an opportunity, "If you tell me what happened."
Elijah bit his lip, "Chloe she's embarrassed."
"And I wouldn't be embarrassed by bloodlust?" I countered. "Elijah you said no secrets."
He sighed. "Alright fine but after she's awake. I'm not telling without her knowing."
That sounded fair to me.
"How did it go with Emma?" I asked.
Elijah added the remaining plants and herbs to the boiling water.
"She's fixed up and sleeping," he said. Gesturing over to her bed. "She'll be out for a while; I gave her the strongest pain killers I had. It's going to take her a while to bounce back from that bad of a broken arm but she'll make it."
"Good. I knew you could fix it."
Footsteps approached, I turned around to see Derek joining us.
"Where can we get showers and new clothes?" Derek asked.
"I put your guys' suitcases and backpacks from my car under your beds last night," Elijah said and gestured to a door. "There's a shower in that room."
Derek squeezed my shoulder, "Don't go anywhere please."
I smiled reassuringly and nodded. Derek went back to the bed and grabbed a new change of clothes before going to the shower. I bet I needed one too.
My stomach growled, "What's for breakfast besides healing tea?"
Elijah smiled, "I knew you kids would be hungry after all you did yesterday. Breakfast is on its way."
