Bail out
"CHEERS BITCHES!" Beca shouted as the group of people she was with all held out their shot glasses before downing the tequila shot.
Beca was out at a club with some of the cast and crew for the new DC movie that she did the soundtrack for. They had just wrapped up production and all headed to a bar in town. After the last shot, Beca decided to not drink anymore as she still needed to get home. So, after twenty minutes of just chatting and being in countless photos and videos, she said her byes and headed towards her car. She got into her car and started it up before heading home.
She was about twenty minutes from her house when all of a sudden blue and red lights flashed from behind her.
"Shit." She said as she pulled over to the side of the road.
The officer pulled out the breathalyzer and asked her to blow .14 was her blood and alcohol level. The officer put her in cuffs and took her towards the station. She sat in the cell for a full twenty minutes before an officer approached her.
"Alright Beca, you can make your one call now." The female officer said opening the cell.
Beca got up slowly regretting having to make this call. She knew that when she called her girlfriend it was going to bad news for her. She felt sicker than ever thinking how Stacie was going to react.
She reached the phone taking a breath before dialing up Stacie's number.
"God help me." She mumbled as the phone started ringing.
After the fourth ring Stacie picked up.
"Hello?" Stacie said in a sleepy voice.
"Stace." Beca said hesitantly.
"Baby?" Stacie asked as she checked the I.d and time "Whose phone are you using? Why aren't you home yet? It's almost 4am."
"I umm need you to bail me out. I got pulled over for drinking and driving." Beca said.
Stacie was quiet for a few "Which station?"
"The one on hawk ave." Beca said quietly.
Stacie sighed "Be there in twenty." Stacie said sharply.
The line went dead and Beca slowly made it back to the cell. She sat down and started to think about her impending doom. She's known Stacie since she was twelve and she knew Stacie was one of the most forgiving, nice and loving people you'd ever meet, which is why when Stacie used the sharp tone, Beca knew she was in for it.
Twenty-five minutes later the same female officer came to the cell "You're free to go Beca."
"I'm so fucked." Beca said as she got up and followed the officer. Beca didn't know which was better at this point, staying in the cell or going home with Stacie. She was handed all her belongings before walking out to the main lobby where Stacie was standing with her arms crossed. She was still wearing her sleeping shorts with a hoodie and had her hair in a sloppy bun. Her face had an expression of pure anger and annoyance. In all the years of knowing each other Beca had never seen Stacie wear such an expression. That expression made Beca worry that much more for what she was in for.
Beca was about to open her mouth and apologize when Stacie held out her hand.
"Don't, I don't want to hear it. Just be quiet and get in the god dam car. Your car can be retrieved tomorrow, or today shall I say when we wake up." Stacie said in the same sharp tone as she headed towards her car.
Beca simply nodded and walked behind Stacie feeling ten times worse. Beca just wanted to apologize and let Stacie know how much she regretted this.
The car ride back room not one word was said. It was pure silence with Stacie not even looking in Beca's direction once. Beca would glance over at Stacie every now and then just hoping her girlfriend would say something. After the fairly quick twenty-minute drive, thankfully there were no other cars on the road due to the time, they arrived at their house. Stacie got out without a word as did Beca.
This silent treatment was really starting to get to Beca. Stacie would always talk, laugh and joke around so her being so quiet worried Beca. The way Stacie didn't say nothing or scream, and shout was unsettling, all she did was have an angry expression. Beca just wanted to make things better but didn't know how when her girlfriend won't even talk or acknowledge her presence.
When Beca walked into the house she noticed that Stacie had went straight to their room. She entered to find Stacie in bed with her back towards the door and closet. Beca carefully made her way towards the closet to grab some sleeping clothes. Once she changed, she carefully made her way out of the room and went towards the kitchen. She grabbed a bottle of Gatorade and sat down on the counter with a sigh.
"What do I do?" She asked herself quietly.
Part of her wanted to crawl into that bed and wrap her arms around Stacie and go to sleep, while the other half wanted to keep her distance to avoid triggering anything. All of this made Beca get lost in her mind making her think about hundreds of different scenarios. The scenarios ranged from maybe Stacie just needed space and she'll be fine in the morning, all the way to Beca thinking this meant Stacie would break things off. Beca knew this was unlikely but the doubt started to creep in slowly.
Thirty minutes later Beca feels someone shaking her. She lifts her head up and looks to her side.
"Oh sorry, I must have just dozed off." Beca says looking at Stacie.
"You think?" Stacie rolls her eyes before grabbing the bottle of Gatorade and putting it in the fridge "Now come to bed." Stacie says as she walks away.
Beca walked into the room and stopped at her side.
"Are you sure you want me to sleep with you?" Beca asked.
"What kind of question is that?" Stacie asked back.
"I mean you haven't said a word to me or even looked at me. Then you just crawl in bed when we get here, I just don't know if you want me around." Beca said sadly.
"Of course, I didn't say a word Beca. Obviously, I didn't look at you. What the fuck do you expect when you call me at nearly four in the dam morning to tell me I need to bail your ass out? Bail you out for such a stupid reason may I add." Stacie said angrily.
She took a deep breath and calmed herself.
"Look Beca, all you had to do was call me and I would have gladly picked you up. Emily would have picked you up. Hell, even my sister or mom would have picked your ass up. But what do you do? You decided to hop in your car and risk everything. Do you realize how much it sucks for your girlfriend to get arrested for drunk driving? How angry that makes me?" Stacie said.
Beca shook her head "I'm sorry Stace, I'm sorry for everything."
"This isn't about apologizing to me Beca. You want to know why I'm so fucking pissed at you?" Stacie asked.
Beca nodded and looked at Stacie.
"I'm pissed because what if you crashed? What if you hit something or worse, someone? What if you feel asleep at the wheel and rammed that car against a barrier? Do you realize I could have lost you? My girlfriend of five years. My best friend of twelve years. The love of my life and the women I want to start a family with." Stacie said a bit choked up at the thought "Then what huh? How do you think I would feel if that happened? How do you think our families would feel? Our friends? We would have lost you Beca. For such a dumb fucking reason."
"I'm sorry for making you go through this. I know it won't do much, but I just want to apologize for everything." Beca said.
Stacie sighed "I know you are Beca, but a simple apology isn't just going to make things better."
Beca nodded "Are we still ok? Like you still want to be with me, right?" Beca asked a bit hesitant.
"Of course, I do. If I didn't then I would have left, you in that cell." Stacie said before patting the bed "Now get in bed, I'm exhausted."
Beca got in and turned off the lights. Stacie wrapped her arms around Beca and pulled her close.
"Just because I'm pissed doesn't mean I love you any less. It doesn't mean I don't want to be with you. Don't ever think that ok?" Stacie said.
Beca nodded "Ok."
"Just promise me you won't ever do this again or get into a car with a drunk driver." Stacie said.
"I promise you. I won't ever let something like this happen again." Beca said.
"Good because I need you in my life." Stacie said.
"Same here." Beca responded.
