Chapter 39

Callie woke up on Christmas morning and was extremely nervous. Aria was coming over and spending some of the day with her, Arizona, and Lucia. Their lunch had turned out to be… ok. There was some awkward silence. No one knew what to say to the other. It had been years since the Torres women had talked to one another. Thank goodness for Arizona who tried so hard to ease some of the tension. It was easier for her to talk to Aria because she literally knew nothing about the other woman other than the fact that she did not want to lose Daddy's money in their parents divorce. Arizona tried to put that bit of information to the side in her mind and just talk to Aria and try to get a conversation going. By the end of lunch some of the tension had been cleared, but it was still an awkward goodbye as Aria had to go with the promise to see one another on Christmas day before she spent Christmas evening at a company Christmas party.

Arizona's eyes fluttered opened and saw that Callie was sat up in the bed with a nervous look on her face. 'Calliope, today is going to be fine. We are going to be together and that is the most important thing. If Aria says or does anything that is inappropriate, I'm sure your mom will say something or ask her to leave. I'll step in if I need to. It will be ok.' she said rubbing up and down Callie's arm.

Callie turned and wrapped her arms around Arizona. 'It's just surreal, you know? A few years ago, she acted completely different. She called me names. She said I was living in sin. She was standing right behind my father when he called the Priest on me. And now, she's having lunch with us…together. Not only am I married to you, I'm pregnant with your children. Two huge things that she would not have accepted before. I just… I'm hesitant. What if it's all a front? What if she's not being genuine?'

Arizona hugged her closer to her body. 'I understand what you are saying Baby, but like you said, she had lunch with us and you said that she initiated conversation with you. She walked into that restroom. I think she wants to make up for her behavior. Of course, I cannot speak for her. I just feel like she is trying to mend the bridges she burned. If she is not genuine, then we have nothing to do with her. Nothing really changes. We still have your mom. We have our friends. If she is genuine then we just add another person to our life. Someone who supports our life and loves us and our children.'

'You always know what to say to make me feel better. Thank you. I'm not so nervous anymore.' Callie said.

Arizona leaned over and kissed the side of Callie's head. 'I always want you to feel good Calliope. If I can use my words to help you feel better, I will do that.' Arizona shifted so that she was face to face with her wife. 'If I have to use my mouth to make you feel better, I am more than willing to do that too.' she said kissing Callie deeply on the lips. She dragged her tongue against Callie's lip. Callie poked her tongue out so that they were lightly touching. Arizona said and did all the right things to get her in the mood instantly. Arizona laid them down on the bed again and started kneading her breast. 'We have to be really quiet Calliope. I don't want your mom to come in to see what all the noise is about. Can you be quiet while I make you come?'

Callie nodded. She was going to be quiet. Arizona worked her up to the point of no return. Not that it took much. Arizona returned her attention to Callie's lips while continuing to massage her chest. Callie moaned as Arizona started pinching her nipple through her shirt. Arizona pulled back. 'Calliope, you have to be quiet or I'm stopping. You don't want that do you?

'Sorry, it just feels so good. I'll be quiet.' Callie said pulling Arizona back in for a kiss.

Arizona moved her hand to Callie's sleep shorts and slipped her hand inside. Her fingers ran through Callie's abundant wetness. She started making slow circles with two fingers. She lifted Callie's shirt with her other hand exposing her nipples. She took one in her mouth and ran her tongue over the peak with a flattened tongue before flicking it back and forth as fast as she could. Callie inhaled deeply. It all felt so good. Arizona stopped making circles on Callie's clit and slid down further and inside the Latina's hot depths. Callie gripped the sheets and opened her mouth in a silent scream. Arizona switched sides and starting giving Callie's other nipple equal attention. She moved her fingers in and out at a steady pace. She let go of Callie's nipples and held herself up on one hand. She started thrusting harder into Callie's center adding her hip. Callie's backed arched off the bed. It was getting harder and harder to keep quiet. Arizona was making her feel incredible and she had always been a vocal person in bed.

'I'm so close Arizona. It feels amazing.'

'You want to come Calliope?' Arizona whispered into her ear.

'Yesss.' Callie hissed.

'Then come. Come Calliope. Come all over me.' Arizona said kissing Callie deeply again. Callie's hips bucked off of the bed. She was seeing stars. Her cries were muffled into Arizona's mouth. Arizona slowed her fingers and pulled them out slowly allowing Callie to calm down. She sucked the fingers into her mouth savoring the flavor of Callie in the morning. 'God, you taste so good, Calliope.'

Callie was still recovering and had her eyes closed. 'Oh my goodness, Arizona. That was absolutely incredible. Exactly what I needed to calm my nerves.'

Arizona kissed her wife and hopped up out of the bed. 'I'm so glad that you enjoyed. I have something for you.'

'That wasn't it?' Callie asked.

'No silly. I have an actual gift for you.' Arizona returned to the bed and held out a small box.

Callie took the box into her hands and opened it carefully. When she lifted the lid, she gasped. 'Oh Arizona. This is so beautiful. I love it! Will you put it on me?'

It was a bracelet that had little charms on it. 'Of course my love. Did you see the charms? Each one means something. There is a 17 charm because our first impromptu date was on February 17 and of course we got married on September 17. There is a rainbow because that was the password when we went to that circus lounge. There is a little Christmas tree because that's when you proposed. And finally we have a little pink bottle and a little blue bottle for our children.' Arizona explained as she attached the bracelet.

'It's perfect. Thank you. I have something for you too. It's in my bag. Hang on.' Callie got off the bed and made her way over to her suitcase.

She returned with a slightly larger box. 'I hope you like it.'

Arizona reached out and took the box. She tore into the paper and inside was the most amazing necklace she had ever seen. 'Calliope, this is gorgeous. Oh my God, it's so beautiful. Put it on me!' She quickly spun so that Callie could clip the necklace around her neck. It was a simple gold chain, but the intricate pendant with the bright blue gem in it was stunning. 'I'm never taking it off.' Arizona leaned forward and pressed a kiss to Callie's lips. 'Merry Christmas Calliope.' she said resting her forehead on Callie's.

'Merry Christmas Arizona.'

After getting ready for the day, the couple made their way downstairs. Callie's nerves returned slightly, but she had Arizona by her side and knew everything was going to be ok.

Lucia was already in the kitchen working hard to prepare Christmas dinner. She was chopping enough vegetables to feed an army instead of a small dinner with her daughters. 'Mami, who are you feeding?' Callie asked seeing the mountains of food lining the countertops.

'I got a little carried away Mija. I am nervous. I cook when I'm nervous, you know this.' Lucia said looking up.

'Do you need any help with anything?' Arizona asked. She knew that she was going to have to act as a buffer again. She wanted her wife to have a relationship with her sister again. She hoped that everything was going to be ok today.

'If you don't mind, girls, would you start cooking some of the celery and onions for the dressing? I also have to get the green beans started for the casserole.' Lucia said.

The women nodded and got started on preparing the meal. They were in a good groove when the doorbell rang a few hours later. Lucia dropped her knife onto the counter. 'She's here.' she said. She was both very excited and nervous. She went to the front door and opened it. Aria was standing there shifting from foot to foot.

'Merry Christmas Mami.' Aria said.

'Merry Christmas Mija, come inside. We are finishing up the cooking now. I hope you are hungry.' Lucia stepped to the side to allow Aria into the house.

'Si, Mami. I am very hungry and I missed your cooking so much.' she said as they started towards the kitchen.

Callie and Arizona were standing at the counter having a quiet conversation between themselves. Callie smiled at her wife and leaned down and kissed her as Aria and Lucia walked into the kitchen.

'Not in the kitchen, girls.' Lucia laughed.

Callie pulled back still smiling at her wife. She turned her head and saw that Aria was looking slightly uncomfortable. 'Hey Aria. Merry Christmas.'

'Um... Merry Christmas Callie. Arizona.' she said shifting from foot to foot again. The tension was back.

Arizona wrapped her arm around Callie to remind her wife that she was there for her if anything went wrong. 'Merry Christmas Aria. I'm glad that you could join us today.' Aria nodded awkwardly.

'Calliope, Arizona, mijas, why don't you take Aria into the living room and catch up. I will finish preparing the food.' Lucia suggested.

The trio sat down in the living room and did not know how to begin a conversation. They all opened their mouths to speak, but no words would come out. Finally Callie had enough. 'Alright Aria, let's hear it.'

'What?' Aria asked.

'Let's hear how me and Arizona are living in sin and marriage is between a man and a woman and blah blah blah, what you and Daddy were preaching years ago to me.' Callie didn't want to be upset, but she couldn't hold it in any longer. Arizona reached over and grabbed her hand.

'I…uh…I…' Aria stuttered

'Do you know how much it hurt me to have my family turn their back on me? Do you know how it felt when my own sister would not talk to me because I happened to like women? It hurt! I'm still hurt.' Callie's voice was rising with each word coming out of her mouth.

'Callie…I'm sorry. I'm trying here.' Aria said.

'Trying…trying she says. Aria, you didn't know what to do when I kissed Arizona in the kitchen just a few minutes ago. You looked like you wanted to run right back out the door. How are you trying exactly? I'm going to kiss my wife. She's my WIFE!'

'Calliope, honey. Try to calm down…for the twins. For me.' Arizona said rubbing circles on the back of Callie's hand.

Callie took a deep breath. 'I am the same person that I was growing up. I did not change. I was always attracted to women. I just never acted on it until college. We got along great up until then. I don't understand how that should change the relationship that we had.'

'You're right Callie. It shouldn't have. I was right out of high school and when Daddy said that he was cutting you off, I got scared. It's a stupid excuse. I liked having money. I liked the lifestyle I could have with the money. I didn't want to lose that. I have been a shitty sister and I am so so sorry. I don't even know where to start to try to make it up to you. I feel so guilty about the decisions that I made. I have picked up the phone so many times to call you. To call Mami. I was ashamed. I didn't feel like you would forgive me and I'm still not sure if you truly do forgive me for how I acted. I want to get to know you again. I want to get to know Arizona. I want to be an aunt to your kids. If you'll allow me to be in your life.' Aria said.

'I would like that Aria, but you understand that I am hesitant to allow you back in my life. If you are truly sorry, it will take time to trust your intentions. I have to think about my kids and my wife also. I have to know that you are going to accept them as a big part of my life. I am not going to allow you in my life, my home, or anything if you do not treat them as family. Can you confidently say that you accept them?' Callie asked.

'I want to. I…'

'No, not I want to. Can you accept my wife and children as your sister in law and niece and nephew? It's as simple as that. Yes or no.' Callie said looking directly into Aria's eyes.

Arizona shifted her eyes from her wife to Aria. She was ready to step in for Callie, but Callie was doing an incredible job in standing her ground.

'Yes. Yes I can.' Aria answered finally.

'Good.' Callie said as she stood up. 'Now give me a hug.'

The sisters embraced after years of separation. Callie really missed having her sister to talk to. She was still hesitant, but as long as Aria kept her word, than she hoped this was a new beginning for the sisters. She missed the family unit that they once were. Now if only her father would change the way he thought. Callie and Aria pulled back from their hug.

'You too Arizona. Get up here.' Aria said turning to the blonde. Arizona stood and hugged her sister in law. 'I'm so sorry it took so long for us to meet. I am so sorry.' Arizona hugged the other woman a little tighter to let her know she could be forgiven.

Lucia walked into the living room seeing the two women embracing. The smile on her face said it all. She was getting her daughter back. She cleared her throat. The women let go and turned to the older Latina. 'The food is ready Mijas. Let's eat.'

What do you think? Do you think Aria is being genuine? Time will tell... Thank you all for reading and reviewing. I appreciate the support as always.
