Laufey is the name of the newcomer giant, a full head-and-shoulders shorter than the dubious host of the Avengers. But, despite the lack of height advantage, the slimness of the said newcomer and the closeness that… he? She? It? They?… has with the host, the said host – Vrelkki – clearly defers to Laufey in lots of things.
Laufey is the monarch of this land, Vrelkki said.
Right now, though,… she?… doesn't seem quite like a leader of any sort, let alone of the barbaric frost giants that Loki rarely talked about. At least it's that way, in Darcy's opinion. Laufey is currently so very busy playing with a drowsy Loki's fingers as he – apparently automatically – nurses from the other breast.
Laufey is behaving like a new mum presented with her long-awaited baby, in fact. The huge giant even thanks her heartily when she offers to tell not-so-secret but funny stories about life with Loki and his adoptive kids.
If this is how a monarch behaves, she can see, then, how some of the ancient monarchies persisted even if they were small and weak-looking by military standard.
The people would fight for such a wholesome, approachable public figure; no questions asked, no push needed.
