Disorder results in light of the Dark Mark's destruction. Though the Ministry fleet continues to engage DA forces, they no longer possess that fighting spirit they once had. A few more Ministry cruisers beyond the Prince go down before Captain Ogden assumes command and orders a retreat. To make matters worse, a majority of the Ministry's greatest commanders were either aboard the Prince or the Dark Mark.
With no clear chain of command laid out by Voldemort it will take the Ministry a while to recover from this devastating defeat, a turning point in the Second Wizarding War.
From this point, many of the Ministry leaders, Admiral Sawbridge and Admiral Loxias among them, will break off from the mainstream Ministry fleet as rogue warlords. The loss of the Dark Lord also directly affects his Hands. Ginny Weasley, for one, has been stripped of her powers and is lost with no clear direction . . . while Romilda Vane will declare herself Morgana and attempt to rebuild the legacy of the Death Eaters.
The war is far from one. Nevertheless, the rebels located on the Forbidden Forest celebrate what is sure to stand in history as one of their most notorious victories against the Ministry.
Surrounded by the centaurs, Hagrid, Percy, and Hedwig watch as the image of the Dark Mark vanishes from the sky, in a fiery explosion.
Percy. They did it.
Hermione, whose wound is being nursed by Ron, looks over. She watches the sky, already aware that Harry has survived and that their father and the Dark Lord are both dead.
Ron. I'm sure Harry wasn't on that thing when it blew.
Hermione. He wasn't. I can feel it.
Ron. You love him.
Hermione looks at him. He smiles.
Don't you?
Hermione. Yes.
Ron. All right. I understand. Fine. When he comes back, I won't get in the way.
Hermione. What are you talking about?
Hermione begins to understand. She laughs.
Oh, no. No. It's not like that at all. He's my brother.
Ron looks away in surprise. They kiss. Then they both grin and kiss again.
Enter Firenze.
Firenze. Teleíose. O efiáltis teleíose.
Far off, two centaurs blow horns to announce a celebration.
However, before this, Harry lays James's body into the flames, cremating him. He mourns for James Potter, the father he barely knew.
Harry. I burn his armor and with it the name of Severus Snape. May the name of James Potter be a light that guides the Aurors for generations to come.
Across the galaxy, there are fireworks.
On West Ham, people are seen cheering, as brooms fly around.
On Surrey, all of the citizens cheer, though possibly more for the death of Golgomath than of Voldemort.
In Great Hangleton, every citizen - human and house-elf - cheer.
House-Elf. We is free!
On London, everyone cheers outside the home of the Ministry Headquarters and where Hogwarts Castle once stood. Some rebellious citizens push over the statue of the late politician Tom Riddle. It is temporary, however, as command of the Ministry has fallen to the Grand Vizier Augustus Rookwood and the Department of Mysteries head Bellatrix Lestrange. Their actions taken to restore order will be swift and often fatal.
And in the Forbidden Forest, the soldiers of Dumbledore's Army gather to celebrate with the centaurs.
Centaurs. [in Ancient Greek] Freedom, we got freedom;
And now that we can be free,
Come on and celebrate.
Power, we got power;
And now that we can be free,
It's time to celebrate.
Celebrate the freedom;
Celebrate the power;
Celebrate the glory;
Celebrate the love.
Power, we got power;
And now that we can be free,
It's time to celebrate.
*Celebrate the light; (Freedom!)
Celebrate the might; (Power!)
Celebrate the fight; (Glory!)
Celebrate the love.
Celebrate the love.
Celebrate the love.
Glory, we found glory.
The power showed us the light,
And now we all live free.
Celebrate the light; (Freedom!)
Celebrate the might; (Power!)
Celebrate the fight; (Glory!)
Celebrate the love.
Celebrate the love.
Celebrate the love.
Celebrate the love.
During the celebration, Ron and Dean run at each other and hug. Percy dances with Hedwig.
Hagrid. [growls]
Hagrid hugs Ron, then Dean.
As Harry arrives for the celebration, he is pulled into an embrace by Hermione. He is thereafter hugged by Ron.
Harry moves through his gathered allies. He shakes hands with Neville, and the two embrace.
Dean. [to Harry] I am, er, sorry about your father, Harry.
Harry. It's all right, Dean. In the end, he died as the man he was. An Auror.
Ron and Hermione embrace.
Gornuk pats Sallow on the shoulder as the two pass each other.
Neville and Hagrid shake hands.
Firenze dances with Hedwig, then hugs her.
Harry looks out on the sidelines. He sees the ghosts of Sirius Black and Albus Dumbledore.
Enter the ghost of James Potter.
The ghost is younger than James when he died: He has messy black hair, hazel eyes with round glasses, handsome features, and an athletic build, wearing the brown robes of an Auror Master.
Percy walks over to Harry.
Percy. Pardon me, Master Harry, but may I ask why you are staring into the darkness? What are you looking at?
Harry. Not what, Percy, who. Don't you see them? Three comrades in arms: Sirius Black, Master Albus, and James Potter.
Percy. My photoreceptors must be malfunctioning, sir. I don't see anything.
Harry. But they're here. Their fire is back in the universe. Let it burn high and bright, to be seen by friend and foe. The Aurors have returned.
Hermione looks over and sees the spirits, recognizing the youngest as the ghost of her birth father.
James glances at his new form. Then he smiles proudly at his children.
The ghost of Sirius looks at James, proud once more of his old friend. Then he sets his hand on Albus's shoulder.
Also present among the spirits are that the recently deceased Silas Crump and his beloved Eloise Mintumble.
Eloise. Those are the centaurs singing. They celebrate the death of the Dark Lord.
Silas. Then the battle of the Forbidden Forest . . .
Eloise. Has been won. Our fight is at its end.
Silas glances at his new form.
We are luminous beings and always have been. True love can never be denied.
Amidst the centaurs' music, Silas also hears in his mind's eye the music of the Weird Sisters, the song played during his first meeting with Eloise.
The pub.
Silas. I know. But there is no need to return there.
Eloise. There never was.
Silas and Eloise move forth and board a train on to the next life.
Everyone ― dead or alive ― smile or laugh.
As Harry said, the Aurors have indeed returned.
Exit all.
