When Fitz let himself in Olivia's house, she was sitting in the rocking chair with Karen. He wished he was having his own dream. This was real. Olivia didn't look up at him.

"Now I know why you agreed to adopt Karen. I couldn't figure out why you agreed to raise a baby when you are barely keeping your head above water. Student loans, mortgage, new career and a baby that you adopted without a husband. I thought you were being a good friend. Now I know you adopted Karen to clear your conscience. Why didn't you tell me Livvie?

"It's not important."

"You have a kid that you brought into this world."

"That girl was given up for adoption at birth. I am not her mom. Her parents are Jake and his ex-wife."

"I want to know everything that you haven't told me about your prom date."

"Jake told you everything."

"I want to hear your story."

"Fine, I was pregnant when he dumped me. Two months. He left me for Abby Whelan. They married the summer after graduation. I moved to DC with my mom and waited until the baby was adopted to start college. Jake and Abby came to DC. We finalized the adoption. They moved to DC when Jake graduated college. She was a stay at home mom and they were in the middle of a divorce. I started my first teaching job, and their daughter is a student in my class. Amelia doesn't know I'm her birthmother and I'd like to keep it that way.

"You weren't going to tell me this?"

"No, it's not relevant to our marriage. We have Karen, and we will have the triplets and twins. Let's not bring Jake, Abby and their child into our marriage."

"Okay. It's your choice. I won't ask you about Amelia again."

"Thank you."

"I'm glad Angela is pregnant. She can finally be happy with another guy."

"Yeah, that's great. I think we should move to Vermont when you finish your degree next year."

"Okay, we can do that."
