Author Comment: Thank you Guest for the wonderful review. I'm glad you liked it so far. As for Spyro Blood Father, it will officially be revealed at the end of this Arc. I hope you will like the story as it goes forward.
Spyro and his two small companions approached the portal leading to the Spooky Swamp. The young purple dragon watched the name of the portal, "The name of that place is… not that good," he looked at the two.
"Agreed," Zoe replied at the name. It was a weak one.
Sparx nodded and buzzed that they were a lot of weak name for the different realms and locations in the realms he visited.
The three went into the portal and reached the other side.
Chapter 39: The Beast Of The Swamp
Once they reached the other side of the portal, they landed on the ground. The location was indeed as its name said, a swamp. There were a few houses that looked like suspended lanterns on the partially foggy place. Not only that, but also a castle at the middle of the location, surrounded by a large swamp. He noticed a few creatures with a long tail with a light coming out of their long tail. They were running away and entering in the lamp houses and closed the door.
Spyro approached one of them and knocked, "Hello."
"W-what is it?" the habitant asked as he lightly opened the door, "A- A dragon."
"Yes. I'm a young dragon. Anyway, did you meet a human over here?" the youngling asked.
"Y-yeah," the Firefly replied, "Two of them. One of them was captured by the Rhynocs and the other is-"
A loud cry echoed in the realm. The door was immediately closed, "The beast!"
"Do you know where the other one is? Maybe it's attack by the beast. I'll take care of it!" Spyro quickly said as he raised his chest, "I'm a hero."
The door opened and the habitant pointed at the right, "T-there."
The young dragon gazed to his right and saw a large swamp.
"H-human here t-too," he added before closing the door for good.
"I'll take care of it," the purple dragon went at the scene where something suspicious came on.
He rushed to the large swamp with the dragonfly and the fairy. He quickly closed the distance and when he reached it, he looked around. He saw Handel at the front door of the swamp. He looked left and right.
"Handel! Are you okay?" the dragon asked.
"Spyro!" he waved at the dragon happily as if he forgot the problem.
"Why are you here?" Zoe asked.
Handel gasped and looked around, remembering it, "A beast is in the swamp. A beast made by Beast Keeper long ago! I don't know how to stop it!"
"R-really?" the youngling looked in the water. He noticed that there was something swimming under the water. He saw a large shadow. He quickly jumped back when it slowly came towards the surface. He held the ground when the thing came out.
The youngling saw the beast outside and opened its large mouth. He quickly dashed on the side and avoided getting crushed by it. The beast ignored the human and attacked the purple dragon again, who quickly rushed on the side.
Spyro panted loudly as his legs shook for a few seconds. He waited for the youngling, waiting to get out of the swamp.
"That crocodile thing beast," Handel explained a little.
The dragon could guess what it looked like and prepared to deal with it.
The beast came out again and looked at the young dragon, water dripping from its muzzle. It was a large humanoid black alligator beast with many eyes on the side of the muzzle, large claws on their hands. It had a large scaly torso. At the center of it, there was something shining out of it, "Purple dragon identified! Priority intruder must be eliminated!"
Spyro gulped when he jumped on the side, avoiding getting turned into a pancake, "It can talk?"
Handel yelled just after the dragon, "That thing can talk?"
Sparx flew by the side of his friend while Zoe took some distance as she observed the beast.
The purple dragon quickly dashed at the side as he avoided the attacks of the beast. It tried to crush him with its hands and cut him in pieces with his claws. The youngling jumped in the air as the claws passed above and under him. He continued and rolled on the ground at the next attack. He turned on the side and dashed.
The beast opened its mouth and prepared to fire a blast at the purple dragon. The youngling jumped in the air and flapped his wings like he was mad as the explosion went just under him. He landed on the ground and an explosion happened near him. He was sent in the air and rolled on the ground. His back hit on a rock and painfully grunted. He used his strength to get back on his feet. He saw another blast of energy coming at him and dodged it at the last second.
"Purple dragon must be eliminated!"
Handel knew his friend was in trouble. He searched in his pocket for a gadget. He took out a small rock. He threw it with everything he got. It hit the back of the beast. Suddenly, there was an enormous explosion on the back.
The beast felt on the ground. Gray smoke came out of its back. It groaned, "Adjusting. Another threat identified," the beast stood up and faced at the human.
The boy gulped as he waved at it.
"Spyro!" Zoe went by the side of his friend, "The chest. There is a crystal inside of it. You have to break it!" she pointed at the source of light on the chest.
The purple dragon couldn't see it as the beast wasn't facing him. Still, he decided to charge. It was his chance. He went on the offensive. He jumped in the air and landed on the back of the beast. He climbed with his claws. It was somehow easy. There were so many things he could grab.
"Intruder on Aligus Beast!" the beast declared as it began to debate.
Handel decided it was time to bail out of the small island and jumped in the swamp, quickly swimming away. Once he was at the other side, he searched for any of his secret gadget to help his friend, but got nothing that wouldn't hurt the dragon.
Spyro yelped as he held on with his life. Sparx was whipped away by the dragon tail by accident.
"Sorry Spaaaaarx!" Spyro cried when he was sent in the air and spun around. He felt on the ground brutally and rolled a few times.
The purple dragon tried to stand up on his feet. He felt weak for a few seconds and was on the ground. He saw the beast coming at him.
"Prepare for elimination," Aligus said as it prepared to turn the dragon in a pancake. Its hand came down.
"Noooooo!"
Spyro was suddenly grabbed by someone and rolled on the ground. He heard a heartbeat for some reason. He looked on which chest he was, "N…Nestor!"
Nestor held the youngling.
The Peace Keepers flew towards the beast and tackled it with everything they got. They avoided the claws and blast coming at him.
"More dragons detected! Elimination begins!" the beast declared.
Nestor hugged the purple dragon and grunted, "You are in so much trouble Spyro!" he poked the snout of the child.
Spyro saw on the side Flame, who watched the battle going on against the beast. He huffed when his dad hugged him in relief with Astor landed on the side. The purple dragon was a little nervous as the old dragon seemed ready to hit his head.
The other adult dragons were handling the beast avoided the blast coming at them.
"The chest! It's the weakness!" Zoe told them.
"Agreed," Agent Zero said as he checked if Handel was alright.
"Time to break this beast!" Titan charged as he avoided the claws coming at him.
Bruno quietly whined as they had to destroy another beast made by their ancestors, but it was for the best. He charged with the other dragons.
Bubba was slapped away and disappeared in the swamp. He quickly came out and dodged another attack coming at him.
Magnus landed on the muzzle of the beast and smashed an eye with his fist. He dodged the counter attack and jumped back. He saw something opening on the back of the beast and it fired a few beams at him. He yelped and flew away. He dodged a few of them, but some hit his back and exploded a few times. The brown dragon felt on the ground. He painfully whined as he crashed. He stood up and grumbled, "He hit hard."
His Peace Keeper leader aimed at the chest with his axe, ready to break whatever the weakness was. His instinct agreed with the fairy and the human. It was definitely one.
Tronto passed in front of him and went to the weakness. When he saw the hand coming to protect it, the dragon flew upward. His knives were ready and slashed another of the eye and destroyed it. Bruno did the same on the other side.
As the beast was preoccupied, Titan went in the chest and charged to hit whatever created the light.
Something came out of it and fired a blast at him. He was sent outside and felt in the swamp. He came out and quickly swum away back to the surface, "He has something to protect his weakness!" he coughed and smoke came out of his nostrils as he said that.
Gunnar nodded as he charged. He saw claws coming at him and prepared to go around it.
Zandor cards floated in the air and the spun together, "Shield!"
A magic shield blocked the attack going to Gunnar and the next one.
The green dragon flew forward. He saw the shield cracking after the third one as he went in the chest of the beast. He ran towards the source of light when he saw the defensive system activated. He avoided the laser beams coming at him and a few mores. With a few punched, he destroyed those system and went closer to the center of the beast. He stopped when he saw what it was.
"Last line damaged!" the beast said. It sounded a little like it panicked.
Gunnar ignored that as he watched the thing. It was a red gem that shined with a beautiful light. It looked like it was a priceless gem. It had many symbols on it. He didn't understand it. It wasn't important for a Peace Keeper like him. He had one mission. He punched it with everything he had. The gem cracked. He painfully grunted as he shook his hand, "Another one!" he let out a war cry and punched it another time with everything he had. His fist hit the gem and broke into pieces.
The gems shattered with little bit of light around him and they felt on the ground. The light disappeared as he grumbled, "Such a beautifuuuuuuul-" he realised that the beast was falling down. He quickly flew back where he came from and exit before the beast felt on its back.
The beast was now floating on the surface, lifeless. The castle on the island had been damaged when it felt on it before sliding in the water.
Bruno took off his hat, "And another beast has been slayed. Maybe it was one of pop creation, down forever."
Bubba nodded, "And it's horrible they used our craft against us," he cracked his bones.
The dragons turned their attention towards their child.
Spyro was still in the arms of his Carpenter father, "Nestor. I'm okay. You can let me go now," he lightly blushed as everyone was watching.
"Okay," he released him.
The youngling couldn't take more than a step before he was wacked on his head by Astor.
"That is for not listening to your fathers Spyro," the mauve dragon warned him, waving his cane.
He took that warning seriously and didn't argue.
"Thanks for saving me Spyro," Handel said as he approached the purple dragon, "I would have been a g-gun- gone without you. Do you know where Sis is?"
"No. I don't know. She asked me to save you. She was captured somewhere," he replied.
"She said she was smart and was captured!" the boy smiled at that small victory, but it turned into great worrisome because his sister was in trouble, "We have to help her."
"She told me she doesn't know where she is," the youngling replied. He put his hand on his chest, "But I can- Ouch!" he was wacked on his head.
"Spyro," Astor warned him.
"S-sorry," the youngling whined quietly before he replied, "But-"
"You are not alone Spyro," Magnus told him as he hit his chest.
As he remembered that, he turned towards the young red dragon. He asked, "Are you going to attack me again? I am a real dragon."
Flame bowed down, "I'm sorry. I thought you were a creation of The Sorceress! I was so sure I was the last dragon," he looked in the eyes of Spyro, "But I'm not. I was wrong."
The other child was taken aback and didn't know what to say.
"You should accept his apology Spyro," Nestor whispered to him.
He thought about it. It was true that he was certain that he was the last one. In the end, Flame was a dragon just like him, "Of course. You're a dragon. You didn't want to do something evil."
Sparx was relieved that his friend accepted his apology.
"Thanks, and sorry again. I… I should have believed you were a real dragon. Mom told me you were a real dragon," the youngling apologised again.
"We should move on. We have more eggs to find," Titan cut the mood as he spread his wings.
"We have to save my siblings," Spyro jumped and painfully grumbled. The pain wasn't gone.
Nestor grabbed him, "You have to rest for a while. Let them handle your siblings. You need to heal," he replied.
Flame declared, "I'll go forward. You can catch up to us," the red dragon said.
The leader of the Artisan Dragons looked at Astor, "The four of us will stay behind," he replied.
"I'll stay with you too. I can teleport the eggs," Zoe said.
"Fine by me," the green dragon replied.
Spyro grumbled as he wanted to help, but he had to admit it hurt a little too much for now. He watched the eight dragons flying away with the two humans and Flame. He was put on the ground and pat on the head.
His dad had a relieved smile, "I'm so glad you're okay Spyro."
The purple dragon gazed at the side, "I had to go dad. I had to help them. I'm their big brother."
Astor chuckled, "And we came here to save you and find the eggs," he sat on the ground, "You need to rest."
"Astor is right. Your punishment will come once we are back home," Nestor concluded.
"Dammit."
Sparx told him that he had to expect it. He added quietly that he should be proud of doing the right thing.
"It won't be as bad as last time," the Carpenter crossed his arms, "But we will need to handle Ignitus later."
The youngling nodded and rested on the ground. He put his head on the lap of his father. He closed his eyes and took a nap. He hoped he would be better soon and continued to save his siblings. He couldn't go on for now.
AC: This is the end of this chapter.
Next: Sergeant Bird.
The eight dragons and Flame split from the humans as they got the communicating device. The dragons found a prisoner and a bear named Moneybag.
