These two extras of Mayu are set before the summer villa arc, so a day before.

"... It's been… A long time. We haven't met for to years… No. To be exact, it's been more than two years…" Mayuko stared at Hatori with a mixture of different feelings that she wouldn't dare show on her face. She wondered if what Shigure said was true, if she should trust that man of all people, but when she looked at his face she knew something had changed. "This shop… hasn't changed at all…"

"It seems you have… In some ways… Hatori… kun…" Mayuko thought back to their first meeting. "You're not even wearing a suit."

"Sorry.." Hatori said after a moment of silent and Mayuko turned around. Calm down! Calm down! She thought to herself.

"Ah! Sorry! I was just surprised…" His eyes were softer… compared to the last time they met. Maybe… "Uwa! I really had a fright! I thought I was dreaming! Shigure was here just now, we talked quite a bit…"

She paused and thought about what Shigure said to her before. 'It seems that Hatori is falling in love again. She doesn't look anything like Kana, you already know her…. Minami… Honda Minami…' Mayuko froze, feeling conflicted, feeling an emotion she hadn't felt in a long time. Not since.

"I came… To retrieve the book Shigure ordered for me.." Hatori said snapping her out of her thoughts.

"EH?! That book is yours!" She yelled surprised.

"... Didn't Shigure say?" Hatori asked.

'He did not mention it… Not a single word… It was on purpose… That guy did it on purpose…' Mayuko thought to herself and she could feel her angry rising up. "Actually… that book will arrive tomorrow…"

"It's like this? Shigure told me today… He's babbling again… Really… that guy." Hatori muttered.

'He purposely set us up! That horrible guy…' Mayuko thought.

"No choice… I will have to come again tomorrow." Mayuko's head shot up at Hatori's response. "No. No need! There's no need! I can send it to you! I know your house address.. Besides, you are busy, right?"

Hatori paused. "No.. It's okay. I can come by myself…. See you then." He turned around and took a step away.

"Hatori-kun!" Mayuko yelled without thinking. "... Ah! Ah, nothing.. .See you tomorrow…"

"YEs. I came too suddenly today… Sorry…" He then left. She paused for a moment and ran up the stairs to grab her phone only to pause right as she went to grab her phone.

'It's summer holidays now, if I call Shigure-s house the kids might suspect something…! That idiot! He doesn't have a cell phone, now I can't reprimand him…' Mayuko released a deep sigh and laid down on the ground like a starfish. "... Really… What is he thinking… Gave me a fright…" She said to herself.

'Hatori-kun, in some ways he's still like before, with a vague disposition. That's why people misunderstand and thinks he's 'scary'... "You've moved on, that's great!" I didn't say it. Darn… this is horrible…' She released another sigh. 'His eyes….' She covered her face with her hand and felt something rise up in her deep inside, that she immediately kept down. 'Honestly… what's wrong with me… How could I be…'

Before she knew it, the day seemed to go by faster than ever. She woke up early that morning to help around the bookstore. "In the end I didn't manage to contact Shigure... ' She thought to herself.

"This is the book Shigure ordered. Mayuko! This one!" Her mother said and she placed the book in her hand. "... Mayuko why don't you marry Shigure-san?"

"ENOUGH~OF~IT~" She said annoyed. She hated this subject. "I've said a lot of times before, I have already broken up with Shigure."

"But you've already passed the ripe age for marriage, if you don't settle down now…"

"When it's time to settle down I will, leave me alone!"

"Then you should at least attend some match making meetings! I'm really worried about you! Your father has been hospitalized… If we both leave the world, you'll be left all alone…" Her mother cried.

'Hm… Parents using tears as a weapon is really sneazy… Won't he be discharged tomorrow…' The door creaked open.

"Welcome." Her mother said happily, no tears in sight.

"SO YOU WERE PRETENDING!" She yelled until she noticed who was at the door. "... Eh. Hatori-kun!"

"... Am I disturbing?"

"Ah! Mayuko! So you are in a new relationship…" Her mother said with a happy smile on her face. "This is the book you ordered! Thank you for coming!"

"GET OUT! WHATEVER IT IS, GO OUT FIRST! DON'T ASK, JUST GO!" Mayuko yelled pushing Hatori with the large book. They continued to move away until they made it to a bridge.

".. And so? Why do we have to go here? It's directly opposite of the area I parked my car." Hatori said calmly.

"... Secret!" Mayuko said and showed him the book. "Women have a lot of secrets! Aren't men like that too? Here, your boo take it."

"I don't understand what you re talking about, but you looked pretty distressed." Hatori said and took the book. "But I suppose you must be right, women do have secrets too, just as much as men."

Mayuko paused and looked up at Hatori, who was flipping through the pages. She felt a wave of sadness hit her as he matched her eyes. "Is something bothering you?" Mayuko asked.

"No?"

"What's wrong? Hatori-kun, I've felt since yesterday… You… seem to be different…"

"There's nothing wrong with my health."

"I don't mean your health. But healthy is a good thing of course. How should put it.. You don't look like you are in extreme bliss…" 'Just like that time…' "You don' emit a 'happiness' aura…" 'Kana and you have ended… You've going someone new right? But what…'

"... I don't know what you are trying to say.. But, the happiness you said… it's totally unrelated to me…"

She froze. "What… Are you talking about? Hatori-kun, what did you just say?"

'You are not lying, right? He is still… being persistent… I don't care… I don't care anymore! There is already something I want… There is no use thinking of him all the time! I want to search for my own happiness too! It's useless..'

"You're lying, right? The sky is so blue. The water in the river is sparkling. Everyone is laughing so happily… But.. you were lying to me, right? You did not obtain happiness.. You were lying to me weren't you?! If it's like that, I won't believe! I won't believe it anymore!"

"You are talking nonsense…" He said.

"Whatever!... Whatever! It… doesn't matter anymore…" She could feel the tears start to build in her eyes. She thought… that after all this time… Her hope.. .Was that she could help him.. That she'd be the one to free him.. To make him happy… But even though he's changed… He still doesn't have that same look… That look that he gave Kana.. Even though he's changed… It made her heart ache… Mayuko let out a loud sob feeling a mixture of emotions run through her. She couldn't help but feel like she's wasted her entire life, searching for something she couldn't reach.

She continued to cry, ignoring the stares from people around her, feeling hopeless, lonely and disgusted with herself. She should be happy for him, but instead she's jealous of her own student, jealous that she couldn't be like Kana, that she chased someone who would never…

She felt a weight on her head and looked up. Hatori stared at her with a sad look on his face, for once she could see his emotions clearly. He placed his hands on her cheeks and wiped away her tears. "I'm sorry." He said and she looked at him confused. She couldn't understand what he had to be sorry for. He paused for a moment. "I'm sorry that I never noticed before, when I was with Kana, how you felt about me… How just being around us was enough to fill you with loneliness and anger towards yourself…"

Mayuko felt her eyes widened. "I wish I could tell you everything, about what happened, about our family but I can't…" His eyes were filled with loss. "I'm sorry you've spent so much time falling for someone like me, when you should've been enjoying your own life."

"You shouldn't apologize for that." Mayuko said and felt her anger rise. "It was my decision! It wasn't yours! If you noticed my feeling then you should've just rejected me! Why did you even come here?!" She knew she was lashing out at him, all of her anger all these years just seemed to explode out of her. She pushed his hands away from her, her tears still falling. She placed a hard on her heart. "I don't regret loving you Hatori! So don't apologize for something you can't control! All I wanted for you was to be happy, but instead you look lost instead! Why aren't you spending time with that girl you love instead of bothering me!"

"Love…" He whispered and looked at her with conflicted. "I don't… I can't… I won't…" He ran his hand through his air, for once she saw Hatori look so weak and confused and she felt her anger evaporate.

"How can you ask for me to enjoy my life and love someone else, when you can't even do that for yourself?" She asked weakly and she saw a flash on pain in his eyes. Mayuko held her breath for a moment and courageously spoke her next words. "Honda Minami, that's who you can't accept your feelings for."

His eyes shot towards hers for a second and then drifted away. He neither confirmed nor denied it.

"Why? Why her?" She asked him and he looked up at the sky.

"I didn't know, at first…" He said, almost too quietly for her to hear. "I thought that it was because she was different… So I just hoped the feelings would fade away, I believed that I didn't deserve to feel these feelings for another person, because I already hurt someone I cared for so much." He paused. "But then, they never did. Everything I heard about her caught my attention, whenever she felt nervous or sad, I hoped I would be able to help her grow from it. But instead it seems like it's the opposite…"

He had a helpless look on his face for a moment, it would've been easy to miss if she wasn't staring at him. "Instead she helps me with my problems, she offers her support to everyone, yet no one gives it to her." His eyes turned distant, loss. "It feels like I'm trapped in a room without an exit, no matter what I say, I'll never be able to help her. Yet everything she says helps me…"

"Secrets that I can't get her to express, feelings that I desperately want to know…" They locked eye contact. "So, I wonder if I've just lost this battle, if I can't help her, than someone more suitable will… How can I project my own feelings onto her, when I can't even find out why some days she looks like she's untouchable by everyone around her. I can't help but wonder if I'm just being selfish, that the 'happiness' you were talking about is something that I don't deserve."

He paused.

"How can I lay down my burdens, my baggage, when she can't even do the same for herself?" He placed a small, sad smile on his face. "So how am I supposed to feel happy and loved, when the person I care for is always suffering?" His smile faded. "I realized this, when I saw you, when I thought about the things you went through because of me. How your stuck and unable to feel happiness, because I'm unhappy… That's why I apologized."

Mayuko felt at a loss, it was the first time she had ever heard him express his feelings and speak that much. Mayuko stared up at him, at the man she had an unrequited love for over two years, a part of her wanted him to feel hurt for all of the things that she went through because of him… Yet another part knew that she would always care for him.

"How does she feel about you?" She asked him.

"I'm not sure, if I would try to say that she loves me, then I would just be protecting my own feelings onto her. I can't read her mind… I can't even understand who she is and why she's in pain, let alone those feelings." He said.

"Then, how do you feel?"

He froze for a second and looked at her with lost and sad eyes. He hesitated and there was a long moment of silence. "I… I love her… I only want her to be happy, even if it isn't with me… I just want her-"

"To be free." Mayuko said at the same time and there was silence.

Mayuko continued. "You love them so much that you're willing to do anything, just with the hopes that they'll find happiness. That even though they keep secrets, that they're broken and lost, you'll always try to help them and hope that one day you'll be able to unlock those secrets." She voiced sadly, the look in his eyes was enough to show that she was right. "There's nothing wrong with loving someone, even if it hurts even if your sad, you're simply happy that you were able to care for them."

Mayuko felt a sad smile on her face. "It seems like… you like this girl… even more…" She said to him. "I wish I could give you the answers that you need, but I can't." She felt a stinge of pain hit her heart, but she sent him a heartfelt smile. "But I think you've found true love, and I hope that you never let go of her."

His eyes widened slightly. Mayuko placed her hand forward and with a second of hesitation he took her hand. "I hope you find happiness." She whispered to him as tears fell down her bloodshot eyes. It hurt but-

"I hope you find happiness." He said and she looked up at him and noticed a soft, true smile on his face. "I truly do." It was enough to make her heartache.

It hurts.

She returned the smile tearly. "Goodbye Hatori." She whispered.

"Goodbye, Mayuko." He said to her and they walked back to the bookstore where Mayuko waved goodbye to him.

It hurts.

She saw Shigure's number pop up on her phone but ignored it as she saw Hatori drive away.

"Even though I wasn't sure how long it would take to heal, but I knew it wouldn't be as long as five or ten years…" She looked over at her scissors and took a snip from her hair. "But, I'll cut my hair short.. And-" Her phone buzzed and she saw a message and felt her final tear fall as she looked outside, it was a beautiful day.

Thank you Mayu. -Hatori

"And he will start calling me 'Mayu' again… On the sunny day, both of us will go out together… This is something that will happen later… not a long time from now…"

It hurts but-

She loved him.

She had to learn to let go.

Mayuko felt some of the tension wave over her.

It took over two years but…

She let go of Kana and Hatori.

And lived with the belief that the new chapter of her life will be filled with happiness.

A/N: So I wanted to give Mayu some piece and I wanted to use this as a way to move forward. For both of them to move forward, from Kana and Hatori's past relationship and Mayu's feelings. As someone who has only had many, unrequited love (world's smallest violin plays sadly), I wanted to write from Mayu's perspective because she is an important character. I was deciding whether or not to put this later on, but I decided to do them back to back.

Explaining Mayu: So the emotion that she kept trying to push back that I hinted throughout the story was jealously. She was disgusted that she would feel jealous of one of her own students and that she shouldn't be allowed to feel selfish or upset that she couldn't help save Hatori. But as she was listening to Hatori talk about his feelings towards Minami, he helped her understand that it was alright for her to let go of her feelings. That she wanted to move on with her life. I didn't add Shigure talking with Mayu at the end, because her letting go of Shigure is one of the says that shows that she wants to move on and won't continue looking back at the past.

Explaining Hatori: So obviously Hatori is a pretty smart guy, so he would be able to tell that something was 'off' about Minami. I wanted to express that he was afraid of loving someone again and that he finally vocalized his option in the story. He has baggage and he feels guilty that Minami can help him, all of the Sohmas, but no one can help her. That's why he agreed with Mayu and said the "Women have secrets, men do too." (paraphrasing).

Minami and Hatori: Although they aren't affectionate with each other, they gain an emotional relationship with each other foremost and shows that their love won't just fade away. They realize that the other has feelings for each other, but they're both unsure about how much they care about each other. Minami and Hatori both mirror each other, both have abandonment issues and are both misunderstood by those around them. I think that might be why their pairing just goes really well.

Minami and Hatori both love each other, but they just don't want to accept their own feelings because of the fear of rejection and misunderstanding.

I had no idea how this was going to be written, I just write from my head quickly. So I hoped you enjoyed a mixture of Mayuko's POV and Hatori's POV~
