Eyal stepped back into the room dressed in sweatpants. Taking a seat a few inches away from Ziva, he looked at everything, but her. He wasn't sure where you begin with. The hardest part wasn't showing her, it was explaining everything to her.
Alex's gaze fell on him. 'Talking usually means moving ones mouth.'
Eyal sucked on his teeth, running a hand through his hair. 'Don't know where to start.'
'Let her ask the questions. It will be a lot easier and less confusing for her.' Alex slid off the couch making her way towards the fire escape. 'I will let you two talk, I am going with Nathan.'
'Gee thanks.' Eyal scoffed.
Alex didn't want to intrude in their conversation. This was something they needed to work out and understand. Ziva might not know what she was really getting into, but Eyal did. Trotting down the street, she paused for a moment. To get to Nathan's place she needed to pass by Gibbs. Last time she checked the clock, it was around 7pm. 'Should still be awake right?' Cutting through the small section of woods, she appeared in the backyard of Gibbs. To her surprise, Tim and Tony were there. She couldn't see Gibbs, but his scent was recent. Taking another whiff of the air, she was relieved to find Lisa not at home. 'Finally a day she's isn't here.' Breaking from the tree line, she trotted over to the men.
Tim was the first to spot her. "Well look who showed up."
Tony glanced over his shoulder, gesturing at the grill. "Must have smelt the meat."
Alex growled, nipping him on the ankle. 'It sure as hell wasn't to see you.' Allowing Tim to scratch her head, she glanced around. Gibbs was no where to be seen. 'Where is this man.'
"Boss your girlfriend is here!" Tony yelled.
Alex restrained herself from reacting. The man didn't need to know, she understood his words. 'First chance I get, I am biting you in the ass.'
Gibbs walked out, with two beers in his hand and a look of concern. "Lisa?" Seeing no one, he looked at Tony. The agent was pointing a finger down. His eyes fell on the she-wolf, staring up at him. "Luna, out roaming again?"
'You can say that.' Walking closer to him, she took a sniff once more. His scent reigniting the flame that had died down. He no longer smelled of Lisa, but of old spice and saw dust. Leaning up against his leg, she allowed his hand to stroke her ear. 'Whatcha making?' Jumping up on her hind legs, she placed her paws on the side of the grill. He was flipping around some steaks, and by the smell of them just about done. 'I hope one of those are for me.'
Gibbs took a swing of his beer, closing the grills lid. "You are lucky I made an extra one."
"I thought the extra one was for me?"
Alex froze at the sound of his voice. What the hell was he doing here? Time seemed to have slowed down as she turned to face the owner of said voice. 'Elston?'
'Hello love.' Elston grinned, stepping out of the house. He handed Gibbs a plate, before reaching out to pet her. To everyone's surprise she snapped at his reaching hand. "Whoa."
Gibbs frowned, glancing from Alex to Elston. "What was that?"
Elston shrugged. "Must not want to be petted."
Gibbs wasn't having it. Luna was growling loudly, her eyes fixated on him. "Luna." She didn't move a muscle, in fact she seemed to be stalking him. "Hey!" He reached for her collar, just as she lunged forward. "Luna, heel!"
'What the fuck are you doing here?!' Alex snarled, trying as hard as she could to break free of her hold. 'You have nothing to do here! No reason of being here!'
Gibbs groaned at the tug she gave his shoulder. "Dammit Luna!" She stood on her hind legs, snapping at nothing, but the air. "A little help would be nice!" Tony and Tim jumped from their seats. Tony rushing to help Gibbs, while Tim rushed for a chain.
"Hurry up McGee!" Tony yelled, struggling to keep a hold.
Once the chain was hooked onto her collar, they quickly tied her up against a tree. Gibbs stayed by her side, attempting to calm her down. "Elston leave."
The man growled lowly, just enough for Alex to catch. "Of course." Grabbing his coat, he quickly left.
Alex watched him, until he was no longer visible. Yet she could still hear him, he was heading for the woods. Alex growled, straining against the chain. 'Let me go!' Getting no response from her team, she dropped to the ground. 'Nathan.'
'Alex? What is it?'
'Eslton was here.'
'Where? Did he hurt you?!'
'No, no. I am fine.' She was anxiously waiting for Gibbs to take the chain off. Having silver in your body really did suck sometimes. 'He was at Gibbs. What the hell was he doing here?!'
'Alex calm down, I am on my way. Do you know where he went to?'
'Just heard him head into the woods.'
'Alright, stay put.'
Alex scoffed, like she had a choice.
"You calmed down?" Gibbs unclipped the chain off, holding her close to him. His hand running up and down her chest.
Tony dropped into his chair, taking a drink of his beer. "Is it me or is she getting stronger?"
"No, she is defiantly getting stronger." Tim mumbled, rolling his shoulder. "But, what I don't get is her reaction to Elston. She used to be overprotective of him."
Tony hummed, pointing a finger at Gibbs. "Yeah, but he was here with Gibbs. Having him close to the boss man, must have triggered her."
Alex nudged into Gibbs, ensuring herself he was indeed fine. Of course, her moment had to be ruin just then. A deep howl broke from woods. A warning. Alex froze listening to the message behind the howl. 'Nathan?'
'Yeah?'
'How far are you?'
'Eight minutes out.'
Alex glanced over her shoulder to find multiple pairs or glowing eyes. 'Make it four.' Nathan's growl echoed through her head. Alex looked around for anything that can help her. Anything that can slow them down. But first she needed to get Gibbs and the team safely inside. Grabbing Gibbs arm in her mouth, she tugged him towards the house. 'Get inside.'
Gibbs frowned, pulling his arm away from her. "What?"
Alex spotted could hear the wolves getting closer. 'Get inside all of you!' Seeing no movement from either of them, she crouched down snarling. Snapping her teeth inches from his leg, Gibbs jumped back. 'That's it! Get back!'
"Luna!" Gibbs yelled, jumping back once more. "What the hell is wrong with you?!"
"Uh, b-boss." Tim stuttered. Everyone stopped, glancing at the pack of wolves approaching. "I think that might be what she is trying to say."
"What?" Tony asked, reaching for his gun.
Gibbs grabbed both agents by their jackets, pulling them into the house. "To get the hell inside." Seeing Alex facing the pack, he called for her.
'Close the door.' Alex crouched down, clawing at the ground. Tossing her head back, she released a loud howl. She was staking her claim for the humans. They were her pack and this was her territory. Only then did the pack stop in their tracks, low growls coming from each one.
"Luna!" Gibbs made a move to reach for her, he was pulled back in by Tony. "What is she doing?"
Tim shut the sliding door, locking it. "She is standing her ground. You remembered what Matt's sister said? To her we are her pack. She is defending her pack."
"She is going to get killed!" Gibbs yelled.
'Gee thanks for the vote of confidence.' Alex scoffed.
'Humans will never feel anything, but fear and hatred for our kind.'
Alex looked up to see Elston at the front of the pack. 'What are you doing Elston?'
'Isn't it obvious.' Elston said. 'I am getting rid of one problem.'
'Problem? What problem?' Alex was at a lost. This territory didn't belong to him. He had no say in what goes here.
Elston took a step forward, his eyes landing on Gibbs. 'You know exactly what problem.'
Following his line of sight, she snarled back at him. 'You go anywhere near him and I will tear your fucken throat out!'
'Oh, well I am not planning on killing him love.' Elston gave a wolfish grin, taking a step back. 'They are.'
A large grey wolf broke from the pack, running towards her. Alex braced herself for the impact, as he slammed into her chest, sending them both tumbling to the ground. Hitting her back against the outdoor table, she bit back her yelp. Regaining her whit's quickly, she pushed herself up. Circling each other, Alex looked for any weaknesses. He was much larger than her and heavier. Using her slimer size to her advantage, Alex dodged his next attempts. Waiting for the right moment he would leave his most vuarnable spot open. When the wolf rushed towards her, Alex crouched down, leaping up just as he did. Her jaws clenched down on his throat, crushing his windpipe. The wolf fell to the ground lifeless.
Standing over the dead animal, she growled at Elston. 'Is that it?'
Elston's eyes flared with rage. 'Go!'
Two dark colored wolves charged at the she-wolf. She was thrown off by who to watch, when both wolves slammed into her at once. Alex laid on her back, clawing, biting and kicking which ever one she could make contact with. Using her back legs, she threw the lightest one off her. The largest of both, took that second of distraction to bite down on her neck. Alex yelped, feeling his canine break the skin. Followed by roar when another bite came down on her side. She didn't have to look, to know it was the other mutt. She couldn't move, not without risking her throat being ripped out. Just as she thought this was it. This was how she died; all hell broke loose. Well, more like all heaven broke loose. Echos of the shots ringed out. A loud roar echoing just after the shots. The wolves on her being torn off. One by a bullet, the other by a dark shadow. Forcing herself up, she exhaled at seeing Nathan's pack chasing off Elston's pack. Eyal and Nathan fighting off a few that attempted going after Gibbs. As for Gibb's he and the team were currently shooting into the woods, scaring them off. Well, they thought they were scaring them off.
Nathan trotted over to her, checking over her wounds. Gently licking off the blood. 'Alright?'
Alex nuzzled into his chest, sighing softly. 'I am now.'
'And them?'
Looking over to her team, she chuckled at the look of confusion. 'They seem alright, probably just tired of the constant wolf attacks.'
'I don't blame them.' Nathan laughed. 'But they are safe.'
'Thank you, for you know saving me.' Alex whispered, nipping at his ear. 'Although I had it all under control.'
Nathan bit back the sudden urge to laugh. 'Did you now?'
'Because from what we saw, you were on your last breath.' Eyal walked over to them, dodging the swipe of her paw.
'I was just waiting for my moment.' Alex grumbled, hiding her face in Nathan's neck.
Eyal gave her a slight head bump. 'All that matters is that you and them are alive. You held yourself like any alpha would. Protecting their pack until the last moment. Consider this a win for all of us.'
'Thank you.' Looking over at gibbs and the others, she was able to breath easy. They were safe and unharmed, all of th- 'Eyal where is Ziva?'
Sensing her panic, he was quick to put her at ease. 'She is safe. My pack is watching her round the clock.'
'How did the talk go?'
'What talk?' Nathan asked.
Eyal sat down, raising his head and straightening his back. 'I told Ziva about me.'
Nathan gapped at the older wolf. 'Everything?' Eyal nodded. 'Why?'
'Besides the fact that Ziva is the one, she is carrying my pups.'
Nathan was silent for a moment. He kept his gaze on Eyal, as if trying to uncover something. Alex watched them both. If she was being honest, she was worried. It wasn't uncommon for a wolf to despise the idea of a human carrying a wolf pup. Many didn't think humans were worthy in bringing a wolf into this world. She had heard stories of packs killing the mother and child. Suddenly Nathan gave Eyal a slight bow of the head.
'What just happened?' Alex frowned, looking from one to the other.
Nathan leaned down, licking her muzzle. 'Nothing you should be worried about. But, to put you at ease it was just a common thing between male alphas.'
Okay, now she was just even more confused. 'What?'
'We are both alphas.' Nathan began. 'We each have our own packs.'
'Ziva is mine, but she also belongs to your pack.' Eyal added. 'Which means she also belongs to Nathan's pack.'
'And you are my mate.' Nathan said. 'So, we have agreed on one solution.'
'What?'
'Gibbs and his team will be protected at all times by both of us.' Nathan explained. 'Your pack is now ours and yours.'
To say she was speechless was an understatement. She would have expected anything, but that. Nathan of all should want nothing to do with Gibbs, let alone allow him into the pack. Any male would see Gibbs as a threat, someone they needed far away from their mate. Yet he was willing to keep him safe. For her. Leaning into him, she nuzzled into his chest. What did she ever do to get a mate like him?
'You might want to go check on them.' Nathan nodded his head towards the team. 'From what I caught, they called animal control. Us and the packs will be heading back. See you later?'
Alex nodded. 'Yes, just finish here and I will catch up with you.' Bidding them both a goodbye, she made her way to Gibbs. The man had calm since the whole wolf attack. His heart beat was at a normal rate and his breathing was even. Standing on her hind legs, she placed her paws on his shoulder. 'You good? Any deathly injuries I should be worried about?'
"I am fine." Her on the other hand was a bloody mess. "You are going to need stiches and a shower."
'Unless you want pink hair, I am not getting in the shower.' Alex grumbled.
"What now?" Tony asked. "With the dead ones I mean."
Gibbs ran his hands through his hair. His backyard was a bloody mess. Dead wolves scattered throughout the yard. "Animal control will take care of it."
"Is it me or have we suddenly been attracting more wolves since we got Luna." Tim stated. "I mean when have we even seen a wolf around here before her."
"Let's not forget about the fact that were-"
"Dino-Zo." Gibbs sapped, just as two officers arrived. "Enough of that."
"Agent Gibbs?"
"Yes."
The officers gawked at the dead animals.
"Holy shit what happened here?" The youngest of the two, walked from wolf to wolf. Taking pictures and writing notes down. "The call said it was a wolf attack. This looks like a massacre."
"A pack of them came rushing at us. I shot a few." Gibbs gave the cliff notes, getting everything else out. "Must have smelt the meat."
"Sir, this one has his throat ripped out." The kid pointed out. "You do that to?"
"No, that was our team mate." Tony jumped in gesturing to the wolf sitting by Gibbs. "She fought some off."
The oldest raised a brow, pointing his finger at the Alex. "That's a wolf."
'No shit Sherlock.' Alex snorted. 'Why can't they ever just look at me and say wow look at the shiny coat. Or lovely eyes. Or how about a beautiful colors. Instead they always stated the obvious.'
The officers had decided to move the dead wolves into the woods. Allow nature to do it things with the body. Alex was glad they decided on that route, it will allow Elston and his pack to mourn them. It was well past midnight. She knew she had told Nathan she would go see him, but she was exhausted.
'Nathan?'
'Yeah?'
'Would it bother you too much if I head back to Ziva's?'
'Of course not. Get some rest, I am not home either way.'
Alex frowned. 'Where are you?'
'The pack and I are patrolling. I have two standing guard near Gibbs home.'
'Thank you.'
A slight pause. 'Anything for you.'
Alex made her way back to Ziva's apartment. On her way there, she kept going over old memories. Lingering on one, more specifically on something Matt said to her. He was sure Derek would refuse her and Elston's mating. Regardless of Derek having already given his blessing at the run. But why? Elston and Derek were close friends back then. It was Derek that had suggested the mating in the first place. So, what was that about. What did he do that pissed Derek off so much?
'I can smell them all over you.'
She felt the hair on her back raise. He really needed to stop popping out. 'You looking for more?'
Elston chuckled, taking a step back. 'Just checking to see if you are okay.'
'Okay?' Alex laughed. 'You had three of your pack mates attack me, had it not been for Gibbs, Eyal and Nathan I would have been dead!'
'They weren't going to hurt you.' Elston scoffed. 'It was just to hold you down, never to harm you.'
'Yeah, well tell that to my bleeding throat.' She stopped three blocks away from Ziva's place. There was no way in hell, she was going to let him anywhere near her. 'You need to leave. Nathan is still looking for you and for once I will happily help him.'
'Why are you so bent on protecting that human?' Elston snapped. 'He is not one of us and he will never be one of us. He is nothing to you, but a rejected mate! What does it matter if he is removed?'
Alex growled lowly. 'Jethro is not a rejected mate. He is my mate, so is Nathan. You go near any of them again and I will forget the friendship we once had.'
Elston wouldn't admit it, but those words stung him. Still, he wasn't about to stop now. Not until he had what he wanted. 'You should know Alex. I don't give up easily.'
'You might as well start now.' Both wolves turned, spotting a snow-white wolf. 'You already lost Elston.'
'Derek, always a pleasure seeing you.' Elston growled.
Derek stood between him and Alex, baring his teeth to the alpha. 'Can't say the same. Now, unless you want a repeat of what happened last time, I suggest you leave. Now.'
Elston was able to say a word, as growls were heard around them. Derek had come with his pack. Not happy with having to flee, he locked eyes with the she-wolf. 'This isn't over. I always get what's rightfully mine.'
