Swire was right.
Two terrorists were standing right next to the corpse of a security guard in the hallway that led to the backstage, blood still dripping down their blades.
But just as Swire and Lin Ye stare at them, so do the killers towards the two newcomers.
When the terrorists begin approaching them, Lin Ye takes a deep breath and steps forward, shielding Swire with his body.
"What're you doing?", Swire stares at Lin Ye in shock.
"What do you think?"
"Are you seriously going to fight them? Oh, please, you're just a medic. Don't be a fool." She says, "Let me do it."
Lin Ye raises an eyebrow.
Despite her brave words, Swire could barely stand straight on her own. Her face, pale from blood loss.
If she really had the strength, she wouldn't have waited until now
He shakes his head inwardly.
Even though he lacked a weapon, he still had his wave leaping strike. Well, he hadn't tried it without a weapon yet, but he was left with no choice.
"Just leave it to me." Lin Ye pats his chest confidently, "I may be a doctor, but I know how to fight. Watch me."
He stares ahead at the two approaching targets.
Even though he's probably the weakest doctor in Rhodes Island, if it's just one versus two, he might stand a chance. After all, Yato had been training him for two months, not to mention having fought countless times in Nightingale's dream.
But… this was reality. If he dies here, it's really over.
Lin Ye gulps.
He keeps repeating to himself to stay calm. Those two men were just terrorists. They were nothing when compared to Sarkaz warriors. If he can use wave leaping strike, he can do it.
I can do it!
The two terrorists suddenly rush toward him.
Come on!
{Rhodes Island's Psychologist}
Skadi, help me!
Lin Ye shouts for help in his heart. He tried to find that familiar scent of the sea, but he can't feel anything.
Suddenly, someone violently yanks him back.
Whaaat?!
He knows that it was Swire, and as expected, Swire was running toward the two men with a big red "canister."
"Ha!"
She swings the canister at the head of one of the terrorists.
The two men had been aiming for Lin Ye, so Swire's sudden intervention managed to catch them off guard. They had never expected Swire to be able to fight with those wounds, let alone in such an aggressive manner.
The terrorist who Swire was aiming at tries to block the canister, but Swire proves to be surprisingly fast.
Bang*
Not a word came out of the terrorist's mouth before his brain was smashed to bits.
Everyone is shocked.
But Swire doesn't stop there.
With the momentum from the previous swing, she bashes the other terrorist's head.
Lin Ye stares at her in shock, how she managed to wield such a weapon so skillfully was beyond him.
When the two terrorists are dead, Swire throws the fire extinguisher aside and pants.
In the meantime, Lin Ye just stared at her in shock. He wanted to help, but before he could do anything, the two terrorists were already dead.
"Hey, why are you looking at me like that?" Swire glances at him.
"I, uh, was thinking you're way too aggressive.", Lin Ye spills the beans.
"That's aggressive? Are you stupid?" She sounds annoyed, "Wait, no, you ARE stupid. You're just a medic. Why would you be so reckless? Do you really want to die?"
"But you're injured. By the way, where did you get that fire extinguisher?"
"There", she points behind Lin Ye, "You didn't see?"
Lin Ye turns around and finds a cabinet. Seeing that there was another fire extinguisher inside, he takes it out without a second thought.
"What-" Swire grunts weakly, "Just focus on protecting yourself and leave the fighting to me. Even though I'm hurt, I can still do my job."
"I can help you."
"I get it," She says slowly, "but this is Lungmen, and I'm its superintendent."
The Swire in front of him looks completely different from the Swire he met a few minutes ago. It's like a gentle cat turned into a fierce tiger.
After resting for a bit, Swire straightens up and grabs her fire extinguisher. She stills, carefully listening to their surroundings.
"It's too quiet."
"Quiet?"
"Um, I can't hear anything." She says softly, "I think it's over."
She looks a bit distraught, but she quickly takes hold of her emotion.
"They will pay for this."
She sets off towards the backstage with her fire extinguisher. After a moment's pause, Lin Ye quickly follows after her.
{Rhodes Island's Psychologist}
The door was half-shut, and there's no sound inside.
Lin Ye and Swire didn't know if there was anyone left backstage right now. If there was any, they should have already heard the fighting.
When Swire moves to enter, Lin Ye grabs her shoulder, shaking his head. Then, he stays close to the wall and inches toward the door.
At that moment, he picks up the thick scent of blood.
He frowns and leans closer toward the small opening between the door and its frame.
He can see a pile of corpses. There were security guards and actors, but no terrorists.
He pushes the door open slightly and waits for a moment.
When nothing happens, he pushes the door open and steps inside with Swire.
Swire squats down and checks the bodies.
"They died half an hour ago."
"Did those two do this?" He asks.
She shakes her head, "No way. They were slightly better than thugs. There's no way they could have beaten Master Walker's guards… Wait, where is Master Walker?"
Lin Ye looks around and sees a piece of paper next to the bodies. He picks it up.
"Ursus must pay for their sins..."
"I see.", Swire stands up, "I heard that Master Walker had been preparing a controversial play about the Infected. If I remember correctly, the play described the Infected as sinners punished by the gods and that they deserved death."
"Is that why they're here?"
She nods.
Even though there is a reason behind the attack, Lin Ye still can't forgive those terrorists for what they have done.
"They weren't killed." He frowns, "Some of them don't have any wounds on their bodies."
"What do you mean?"
"I think they were poisoned."
"What-"
Clap* *Clap* *Clap*
Lin Ye and Swire turn toward the sound.
"As expected, Sir Swire, you didn't run away."
Walson appears from behind the door, followed by the two masked men with flaming blades.
