Patchwork Road

Chapter summary: For a spy in a foreign territory, an information exchange is highly unfavourable, at least according to Natasha.
47. Extensive
Question after question flies, in both ways, but Natasha is not sure whether the Avengers have gotten the better part of the whole of it. Backgrounds, histories, opinions, perceptions, characteristics, jobs, even hobbies – they're all asked, and answered, and deflected back to the questioners, and sometimes evaded.
Now the Avengers know that Laufey is the High Monarch of Jötunheim – or Ýmirheim, as the natives name it – which are composed of mostly separate fiefdoms, that… they… are Loki's mother, that Loki is not even Loki but Loptr, that… Loptr… is? Was?… one of a pair of twins, that the jötnar – or "Children of Ýmir," or "milaðen," as Laufey says it – are naturally adapted to extreme cold climates and lands. But they also cannot withhold most of the stories they ever heard from… Loptr, including all… his? Their?… hatred towards Asgard and Jotunheim and everyone that populates both realms.
And worse for someone who has ruthlessly and rigorously been moulded into the best spy since early childhood, she cannot prevent the information from leaking, or prepare something – any plan, anything – to counter those questions.
She feels bare.
Worse: she feels trapped, too.
