HA you thought I forgot about my earlier plot with the spring snowstorm! Nay! Or maybe you didn't think that... idk what goes on in your brain ;P

Anyway enjoy the return of the dead crops!

Entry 40

I might have to take yet another hiatus from working on my ideas… looks like it's time for me to be "Model Viking Hiccup" again.

Fall has rolled around earlier than usual, and with that, we have to get what we can out of our crops before it gets too cold. And that's a problem, of course, because they were already stunted to begin with.

My dad has estimated we can let them grow for maybe one more week before it'll get too close to deadly temperatures. And now, he's once again super stressed out, and I want to try and do whatever I can to minimize my role in his anxiety. Berk is already strained enough as it is… it doesn't need me coming in and making things worse.

Well, looks like that week of extra growing time was just wishful thinking. We woke up this morning to a fine layer of frost on the ground, and need to get to work on harvesting as soon as possible to save the plants.

Once it was all done and gathered into a pile, we could see just how serious of a problem this is going to be. There's about half of the normal amount of crop, and what's there wasn't quite ready for harvest. It's edible, of course, but smaller and not as nutritious. Add onto that the lesser amount and I can tell this is going to be one heck of a winter. Not just because everyone else is going to be in a bad mood, but because my DAD is going to be in a bad mood… I simply can't WAIT for all that…

Until next time…
