Holly Potter sighed as she looked at her companion besides her.

"Are you sure this will work?" she asked, tired of everything around her. This was her last chance at happiness.

"You have my word. I wouldn't tell this to you without being sure." the dark cloak being said sincerly.

"I know. I know. The only person I trust at all is you Death. Funny how things turned out." she said and squaring her shoulders, she nodded towards him, "I'm ready."

"You deserve so much more than these weak-willed humans." he said, "Your new life will be one where you control everything. I promise."

Holly smiled as she picked up her belongings and made her way to the Department of Mysteries. Its been a while since he was there, but she would never forget the Death Veil. Funny how it had taken away her one chance of a family and now it would be her gateway to another one.

From the moment Holly had entered the Magical world, she learned everything she could about it. It was a bit hard at first as Ron wanted to play games all the times, and when Hermione joined, she would shove information towards her. She had to find times to herself, where they weren't always there.

She always got top marks in all her classes, except Potions for obvious reasons, much to Hermione's anger and Ron's jealousy and perhaps that was suppose to be her first clue that they weren't really friends, but she had turned a blind eye to it, like many things. And that had what led to their downfall after the war.

Contrary to what people believed, Holly didn't want to become an Auror but a Healer. Healing people with a potion or a wave of a wand had always fascinated her and it was what prompt her to ask Madame Poppy for lessons. She even bought medical books that she would read in her free time.

But no, she was the Girl-Who-Lived, and now Woman-Who-Conquered, so she had to do what society had dictated for her to do. Or get married and pop out as much children as she could. Her so called friends thought the same way and that was when she fully realized that she was also the Girl-Who-Lived to them, not their friend Holly.

Only Neville and Luna had been on her side, the blonde being the one to tell her to go travel for a bit to clear her head. So she packed everything she owned up, including her money since the goblins were still angry, and left for the Asian countries because she knew the first place people would start looked for her would be an English speaking country.

Holly had never regretted it, because she had discovered a completely new and different variety of magic from these magical communities. There were a different variety of occupations a person could have, from beast tamer, to array master and her personal favorite an alchemist, which were more like pharmacist. Alchemist created solid pills instead of potions . They still made potions, which were called elixirs, but instead of those that were for health reasons, they could also help you gain magical strength or even physical strength.

It was something she had never expected and immediately began buying books on the subjects that interested her. During her early months there, she had bumped into a kind looking lady while she was looking for herbs. The lady was also looking for herbs and they had stricken up a conversation,

The lady, Hua Meng, was apparently an alchemist and offered to teach her everything she knew. Holly had no reason to disregard the invitation since she was still hiding from those in Britain and agreed. It was one of the best decisions she had made, as she had learnt a lot of things from the reclusive lady, even martial arts. Holly kept up with her non-magical medical education by enrolling into a university and for seven years she had lived a peaceful life.

It was during these years that Holly had discovered that her teacher was actually a famous alchemist who had rejected every offer for an apprenticeship and much older than her actual appearance. Hua Meng confessed that she had already knew of her identity, but felt suffocated by the depression surrounding her and took her in. It helped that Holly was a genuine student, instead of others who only wanted to brag to others about being taught by the famous Hua Meng.

Holly understood and they bonded even further on over their hated fame.

Once she learned everything she could (Time-Turners were a blessing her teacher had) and graduated with a medical license, she had bid her teacher farewell and went off to explore the world. Holly planned on opening her own medical clinic where both magical and non-magical means would be used to best help people. Before that though, she was going to see the sights a bit, believing that the magical communities' search for her had died down.

Unfortunately, it hadn't. The first place she was found in was Greece. She was welcomed and even invited to live there, which she almost accepted, but they kept asking her to solve problems for her. From wards, to finding a cat. Holly packed up and went to France and then America and it kept happening. Britain had also heard about her and began demanding that she return.

So she returned...

...and holed herself up in Potter Manor.

Holly had been fed up with everything in her life. She just wanted to open a clinic and live her life, what right did these people have in giving her a list of who would be her husband?! She had sacrificed her entire life and they still wanted more. She though it would be different in other magical communities', but it wasn't.

It was all the same.

And then Death came and ironically, he was far more kinder to her than any of them were.

Since she had become, the Master of Death, a title she didn't want, she could apparently call him whenever she wanted. The first time he had appeared, she was drunk, so she told him all of her problems and drunkenly asked if he had a solution.

Surprisingly he had.

Rebirth.

Holly could be reborn into a different world, one where she would probably be needed, but she could set the conditions of her life early on. She would have all of her magic and her possessions too and a chance to carve out her own life with her hands. He would try to bring her into a loving couple, but didn't know what would happen in the future, but she didn't mind. She would have her magic and her stuff with her. She wouldn't be ignorant like she was in this life.

So she took his offer of a new life and without a second though, walked through the Death Veil.

Shen Yanxiao and Shen Yanli were two young orphan girls that were apart of the Vermillion Bird Clan, one of the five great clan in the Long Xuan Empire. They were born to Shen Yu, the handsome and unparalleled genius of the Vermillion clan and Wen Ya, the number one beauty of the Long Xuan Empire, with an unknown background.

Its believed that any child of these two amazing people who be even more so incredible. And in a way, they were.

Shen Yanli, the younger twin and eighth youngest miss, previously known as Holly Potter, had gained full consciousness when she was about two years old. She knew she wouldn't remember everything once she was conceived as a child's mind didn't mature that fast, but her memories had been integrating themselves into her new mind and body and she had remembered who she was previous before turning three.

Although she didn't remember much about her earlier days, she did know that she had a twin sister, dead parents and she had undergone something alongside her sister. She didn't know what it was, but had a feeling that it had to do with the seals on her body. They were powerful seals that restricted her access to her magic, but thankfully not all of it.

Unfortunately, her sister wasn't so lucky, as instead of having five seals like her, she had seven. Yanli didn't know where these seals came from, but she knew her sister would have a hard time in this world without power. She could already tell from snippets of conversations that this world followed a Might makes Right philosophy. Regardless of what though, she was going to make sure to remove at least two of those seals.

Yanli loved her sister though, as they were the only ones that could trust the other and stay with the other. Their father was a prodigy and the favorite son and thus people had many expectations of them. Many of their so-called family members even eyeing them dark intentions, she always made sure her sister would stay away from them. They stayed in their own courtyard that was pretty far and secluded from the rest of the clan and she planned on using that to their advantage.

She did have to admit that her sister Yanxiao was a bit odd at times. Well, not odd, more like she knew a lot more than she was letting on, like her. She always stuck close to her and was sometimes down right possessive of her and as someone who craved familial love, Yanli simply returned. You would never find either of them alone and sometimes she could help but wonder if she was a reincarnate too. Not that it would bother her, they were sisters now.

Even if she had a weird stealing problem.

Then came when they were to present themselves to see their potential as cultivators. Yanli knew as she and her sister had no parents, they had no protection, so lying low was the key. So when it was her turn, she made sure to hold back as much as she could and was satisfied when people muttered about her having very small potential.

Her sister on the other hand, was a cripple, unable to produce any spiritual energy whatsoever. People laughed, mocking how could the daughters of a genius have turn out the way they did and Yanli could only old her sister's hand tightly, holding her head up high. She was very close to removing the seals but not just yet, so for now she'll have to protect her sister.

"Do not worry sister. We'll find a way to make you cultivate." she said determinedly to her sister, who looked at her in pure bewilderment.

"If you leave me, people won't bully you." Yanxiao said softly, but she shook her head.

"We're sister, family, twins. If they mess with one of us, then they mess with the both of us." she smiled and was a bit startled when the older twin had tears threatening to fall from eyes, which she quickly covered with a hug.

"I will not forget your kindness...sister." Yanxiao smiled and Yanli grinned, knowing that whatever the future brought them, they would handle it together.

Unknown to Yanli at the time, her sister Shen Yanxiao was also a reincarnate who had recovered her memories about the same time as she did.

In her previous life, Yanxiao was an unparallelly godly thief who had died at the age of 18. She was almost three when she had recovered her full memories and surprisingly she was reborn in another world, also named Yanxiao.

This time, however, she had a family in the form of Yanli, her twin. For Yanxiao, who had never had familial connections before and no one to care for her, had clung to the warmth her sister had brought her. Her parents might be dead in this life as well and the rest of her clan family members distant, but Yanli's presence was a balm to her lonely soul.

So you can understand why she felt as if she would lose that one thread of warmth when it was revealed she couldn't cultivate, but her sister surprised her again, when instead of mocking her with the others, she just gently held her hand and yelled at everyone there.

Her younger sister, her twin sister, had stood by her side when everyone else had abandoned her.

As someone who was abandoned many times and used and discarded in her previous life, her sister's declaration and actions had brought tears to her normally stoic face. No one had ever stood by her before, had never gave her such happiness.

So she promised herself right then and there, that even if the heavens wanted to take her sister away from her, she wouldn't agree and fight all those who oppose her. Those who were kind to her, she would repay a thousand times.

No one would ever hurt her little sister for as long as she drew breath!

And then she found out the most shocking secret-

"You're a reincarnate too!?" the twins exclaimed and then burst into laughter a couple weeks after their presentation. Yanli loved to draw and when Yanxiao offhandedly mentioned it looked like the drawing she saw in manga, only for her sister to saw she liked Dragonball, did they realize what they were talking about.

Yanli smiled, "That explains so much! I'm so glad I'm not the only one."

"Neither am I." Yanxiao said, "I was called Yanxiao in my previous life, you?"

"I was British, so no." the younger twin shook her head and Yanxiao raised an eyebrow in surprise.

"It must have been hard adjusting here."

"Not really. I lived in China for almost ten years." Yanli shrugged, "Say does this mean...?" she trailed off, pointing between the two of them and Yanxiao couldn't help but pinch her checks.

"That was that life this is this life. We're still sisters and still family." she said, bring the young girl into a hug, "It just means we have more to our advantage now." she said, "Your warning about the rest of the clan makes much more sense now."

Due to her cripple status and the fact that her sister chose to stand by her, they were quickly neglected, but it didn't hinder her, or Yanli. The girls quickly adapted, with Yanli making a make shift kitchen with the help of her magic and Yanxiao stealing anything they needed.

Yanli had also placed wards that kept everyone else from remembering them and ignoring them completely and had told her sister that they didn't want any attention from the rest of the clan, so they should keep a low profile.

"Oh now that the secrets are revealed, I need to tell you about the seals on our bodies." Yanli said, settling down on the floor.

Yanxiao looked startled, "Seals?! Is that why I can't cultivate?"

"Yes. You have seven seals on you and I have five. They are the same type of seals, but mine was incomplete, which is why I can cultivate. On our presentation day, I help a lot of my power back so I'd be underestimated." she explained.

"Can you remove my seals?" Yanxiao asked and her sister nodded. "How?"

"In my previous life, I was training to be a doctor, but I was also a witch. Yes the whole magic is real kind of thing." she nodded at her sister's bewildered look, "I can remove the first two now as they are what is stopping you from cultivating, but I don't know how to remove the rest or I would have done it to my own."

Yanxiao listened to everything, nodding at her sister's explanation, "We need to keep our strength a secret. If I remember correctly, there is a school that we'll be going to once we're older after reaching a certain cultivation level."

"You're right. We'll have to be at level 6 and then choose if we want to use magic or douqi." Yanli agreed, "I want to see if we can use both though as they have their disadvantages and advantages."

"I'll sneak into the library and get as many books as I can. Can you make copies?" Yanxiao asked and her sister nodded, "Good. You'll make copies and then I'll return them."

Yanli nodded, "But let me first remove the first two seals so we can cultivate."

Yanxiao smiled as she agreed, touched that her sister would wait for to start cultivating before she started her own.

From then own, the two girls had worked hard in their training and completely transformed their courtyard. It had a more modern look to it inside, which Yanli had used expansion runes in the rooms. The kitchens were full furnished and they even had a swimming pool!

Yanli had created a garden for her herbs and Yanxiao had stolen everything her sister needed, as she still wanted to purse her dream of becoming a doctor, even in this world. The pills and elixirs she had created were sold at the action house owned by the Qilin clan, which raked them a lot of money.

Both girls had been separate from the rest of the clan and had become a forgotten memory. The only person whom they were close to were their grandfather, who had to hide his visits and their older cousin Shen Siyu, who was genuinely kind to them. Although they didn't need any money because of Yanxiao theft and Yanli's pills, he still gave them their monthly allowance. Siyu came whenever he could and absolutely loved their food.

Their cultivation was very fast and they would have reached rank 6 much sooner had they had less things to focus on i.e., their lively hood and getting more information about the new world they were in. However they had managed to reach the 6th rank and as they were debating as to what they should about the different paths they should follow, did Yanxiao hear a voice.

"You can cultivate both douqi and magic."

"Who said that?" she asked, looking around.

"Sister?" Yanli asked worriedly.

"I heard someone say something." she explained.

"Stop looking around. I'm within your body." the voice, a cold male voice, said.

Yanxiao was a bit startled, "Inside my body? How the hell did you get there?"

And that was how both girls had met Xiu, a devil as he called himself. He wouldn't tell them much about himself, but he had signed a contract with the older twin who was his host, which had him help them with their training. With him, they had improved leaps and bounds.

By the time the girls were thirteen, they did not only shine in beauty but in strength as well. They each exceled in different things, Yanli in medicine in magic and Yanxiao was more of a jack of all trades. Their bond had deepened over the years and thanks to the wards, no one truly bothered them.

Their grandfather was quite proud of them. He had told them about calling over a sage from God's domain to help in awakening the Vermillion bird and wanted them to go and see if one of them could bond with it. He also told them that they would be enrolling into the Holy Roland School and would let them come out of hiding.

They girls exchanged a look and grinned. No matter what happened, they would always have each other.

End of chapter. Hope you enjoyed!
