Rose found herself slowly drinking the bottle which tasted of Sweet Berry juice or something. Right beside her, Caden had already drank a blue bottle and was halfway done with a green one. And when he finished he had a cute and funny looking smile on his face.
Once Rose finished her drink however, she felt her cheeks warm up. There was a tickle in her throat and her stomache felt bubbly. She placed the now empty bottle aside and reached for a bottle with purple liquid. Suddenly she felt something rise in her throat.
"*burup* Pardon me."
She said, embarrassed. "Okay that hit the spot, I'm starting to feel a little better." She said. At that Caden placed down a new empty bottle.
"Well that's good, but keep going. This stuff will perk you up." Caden said, drinking a pink bottle.
Rose reached for a bottle that contained a purple liquid. Before she drank, she sighed.
"I'm sorry Caden, I didn't mean to drag you into this. I just feel so lost. I just want to find my family is all. I miss them."
Caden sighed and replied. "Well, the fight wasn't your fault. It happens."
Rose shrugged, "I should have done something. But I have no idea where they went. I mean, why didn't they get to the bunker? I-I tried to get out. What if we're far far away from them. What if someone or something has them, if they're de-"
"Rose!" Caden placed both his big hands on her shoulders. Rose looked right into his big teal eyes, which were full of concern and yet gentle.
"Rose, listen to me. It's gonna be alright. We'll get the hell's out of here and you will be reunited with your family. And if you want, I'll stay right with you to make sure it happens." He let go, and resumed his drinking.
Rose was touched by this, and she drew the bottle upon her lips. It's taste reminded her of milk and sugar but felt strong and almost heated. And it smelled like lavender. Once she was done, she felt her face get even redder. Her head almost felt dizzy as if she was spinning. She looked to Caden and said.
"Thank you,Caden. People may think your d-different but I think you are soo kind."
"Hey Rose, gotta question, why are you so fixed on reuniting with your family?"
Rose put down a a full bottle of green liquid before answering. "B-because their my family. Okay well, not biologically, but I love them. I have to know if their okay."
Caden set down his drink of Red. "Wait-wait what do you mean, Biologically?"
Rose shrugged, "I'm adopted."
At that Cadens eyebrows raised. "Whoa really?"
Rose took a sip of the stinging sweet drink and said.
"Yeah, my mom died when I was a kid and my dad just, disappeared. I met them at a church, they took me in and loved me like I was their own. We moved to the now destroyed Village and now here I am."
She glanced at him and saw his eyes had glanced to the floor in thought.
"Wow I, uh. I'm really sorry. I didn't know."
Rose shrugged and down downed half of a the green bottle.
"Wait, so how old are you?" Caden looked to her with genuine curiosity.
Rose felt her face feel hot before she answered. "Nineteen, what about you?"
Cadens eyes widened, "Twenty-seven. Sooo, heh, you're technically an adult now huh?"
"Not quite."
"Well, you kinda are."
"Hey Caden, I know this is kinda out of nowhere but how did you vgt that small gap between your two front teeth?"
Caden gave a small smile, showing the gap between his front teeth. "Eh it's a family trait. My grandfather on my dads side had it, he got it from his grandmother. So it passed down to me."
"Huh, well like it. It brings out your character." Rose smiled and was about to finish the rest of her drink when he continued.
"Rose, let's run away together!"
She looked at him in surprise. "What?"
"Just us, we can get away from all this. You're technically an adult and both our colonies think we're dead. We can go, just go, and find a nice hidden place where no one will find us. Build ourselves a small home and make a garden. Or mabey even a tower."
Rose stared at him blankly, her head felt like she was twirling. She sighed. "Who me? A milkmaid? I ain't worth *burup*! Pardon."
Caden looked at her with a wiggly smile.
"What? Of course I'd want to start anew with you. I mean, you're kind, caring, and you're cute."
At that Rose blushed. Caden went on. "Matter of fact, if I didn't know better, I'd say you are a Mary Sue."
Suddenly Rose felt an emotional shatter, she slowly turned her head towards him.
"Whoa, excuse me?" She hissed, suddenly feeling a surge of burning anger in her chest and throat.
"Well I was uh, just saying..." Caden tried to explain.
"Caden, now you listen to me. I like you, but I am absolutely not a 'Mary Sue'." She said the last part with venom in her voice.
"I was just saying, if I didn't know any better..."
"I know, but you have no idea what a 'Mary Sue' actually is. I do. Mary Sue is one of those little pretty girls that I wanted to be. For instance..."
"Oh boy," Caden commented.
"There was this girl in the Village that I used to know. I remember her name was Hannah, not gonna lie, she was always nice and sweet. Nice to every Villager and creature, she was that girl that had blonde hair that was also dyed in orange and blue. She had a blue dress and orange stockings. One blue and one green eye. She had a large chest and a big booty too. She happens to be the Village Headmans daughter, and all the boys would bend head over heels for her."
"Okay calm down..."
"She accidentally stole my crush Bax. Stupid name..." Rose finished the green bottle. Caden had finished an orange bottle.
"Well, his loss, you're beautiful. I uh, I-"
Rose looked and saw Caden wobbling on his chair trying to keep balance. He suddenly leaned over to her, his face right next to hers. To Rose's shock he kissed her on the cheek and drew back.
"Thank you I had a great night." He said before leaning back and falling out of his chair, he crashed down on the floor and lay motionless. Rose looked down at him, her face still in surprise. Her head was dizzy and she felt like her whole body shake as if she was spinning.
"C-caden are y-you alright?" Her vision was blurry and slow, she a wave of nausea as she felt her whole body go numb. She could just barely feel herself falling off her own chair. Then the room went black.
