September 28-29, 2020:
Author notes:
Hello, everyone! I hope you are doing great!
So, next chapter is here, more training sequence, but this time from the point of view of the rest of the group. It's not much, but it's to advance the story.
No soundtrack for today, since I was SO TIRED at work, and it's already Tuesday here.
Hope you like it!
Chapter 39: The Mage's Training.
It's been two days since the group arrived at the Library and started their training. While Alan was training with Master David, the rest of the group was learning for their own needs, getting stronger and better spells.
It was 10 A.M. inside of the Library, while outside it was still night on the same day they entered, as time inside pass way faster than on the outside. Thankfully, the lights inside the Library were more than enough to simulate daylight, and they dim to simulate night when the time is right.
The Dark Magician Girl Kristal was walking by the large hallways full of books and magic spheres that were in the place, admiring all of them. Some mages from the Library were floating, placing some books on the shelves, while others were writing some new books, seemingly getting info from a strange window-like device attached to some black box. Alan told them that was a computer, although the screen was more advanced to some he had seen before (he is from the 2001-2005 era, flat screens weren't that common). To say he was excited to see those was to say the least. He was very glad to see something he could relate to.
She kept walking by the hallways, until she reached another one of the many, MANY saloons full of books. However, unlike the other hallways, this place only had one mage in it…someone she knew.
The Dark Magician Duncan, with his mage clothes on, was floating in the air, his purple aura surrounding his body, while he was sitting in a meditation pose, with both hands raised a little, moving his fingers. Around him were a couple of books and three orbs of different colors orbiting around him. The pages from the books were moving on their own, although they were doing so while Duncan moved his fingers. He had his eyes closed, so he wasn't reading them…at least not with his eyes.
"Good morning, Master Duncan." Expressed Kristal, as she entered the room.
The mage opened his eyes, as he slowly turned to face his young apprentice.
"Ah, Kristal, good to see you." Said Duncan, as she slowly began to descent, and relaxed himself, as he stood on the floor. The books that were floating around him closed themselves and landed on the table close to him, and the orbs did the same. Kristal looked at this with intrigue.
"What were you doing, Master?" Asked the blondie girl with interest. "Seems you were deep in though."
"I was reading those books." Said Duncan to his student.
"Reading? But you had your eyes closed. And they were three of them!"
"Ah, that is some of the skill you learn after a while. We read with our Mind's Eye."
"Our Mind's Eye?"
"Yes. Once you have enough magic power and knowledge, you will be able to use your magic and open your Mind's Eye. With that, you'll be able to read several books at the same time. It also is a better way to sense energy, other than Aura Detection."
"Ohhh! When can we learn about that?"
"You are actually ready to learn it. However, it will take the rest of your days in here. We need to learn some spells while also train to increase our magic auras in some way. Have you learned something new, Kristal?"
"A couple of spells from another world, and managed to increase my aura pool by a half. It's something."
"Well done, Kristal. Now, it is good that you came, as I was going to get to Strum, since he was trying to create some amulets for us."
"Amulets?" asked Kristal.
Duncan smiled, and then he pointed to one of the books he was reading. The book itself began to float to his hands, and then the pages moved on their own.
"This is a book from another world, but it seems it is even more distant than others." Said Duncan. "It shows a kind of magical tree completely different to anything we know before. And by the looks of it, this book is only a small fragment of something called 'The Clair Bible', a collection of books of manuscripts that seems to be the memories of an all-powerful deity from another galaxy or something."
"Memories?" asked Kristal in confusion.
"Makes sense: an immortal being will have large amounts of knowledge. If they can separate them and create books from them, the amount of knowledge they have could even rival this Library, if not more."
"You think so, Master?"
"It could be. Anyway, this book is only a copy. Seems many historians made copies to keep the knowledge, and some thousands of years ago, those books reached a world that the Library appeared then, and got them to preserve in here."
"Ohhhh, Interesting! And what does it say?"
"Well, these spells seem to work by 'calling' the energy of one demon lord, and they will allow you to use their powers."
"…that is not good."
"Indeed. However, there is a way to transform those spells into Materia, so it will only depend on your energy. They will be weaker, yes, but will depend on the user's magic power, not by how their demon lords gave you."
"Oh, that sounds better."
"Indeed. However, what Strum is searching is a way to replicate these charms." Said Duncan, showing Kristal the book, where she read the name of the items.
"Demon's Blood Talisman? Those doesn't sound good."
"I know, however, these talismans are able to increase your mana pool considerably with no effort."
"That is good!"
"However…those talismans work only by calling the power of those demon lords, and from what I can understand, they have no power on this world."
"So…what can we do?"
"Like I said, Strum is working on it, and it seems he found a way. I was finishing those books, but I think I will go and visit him to see what he has been researching."
"I see. So, before we go and see Master Strum, is there any spell that is interesting in this book?"
"There are many spells, and some are extremely powerful. However, they are so powerful that you will only be able to use it once, and it seems you will only be able to learn one, since it take time to do so. We need to learn all that we can in one week, so only going for one spell is useless."
"What kind of spells there are?"
"Look for yourself."
Kristal eyed the book her master gave her, and began reading it. Her eyes widen a little as she keeps reading them.
"Wow. There are some really high level spells." Said the Dark Magician Girl with surprise.
"Seems this tome is only for high level spells." Commented Duncan. "I learned one of them, but will leave the rest for later. I need to seek more that we could be use."
"I understand."
"Good. So, Kristal, want to go with me to seek Strum?"
"Of course!" exclaimed Kristal, setting the book on the table.
"Good. Then let's go. He must have something by now."
With that, both mages began walking toward the other exit of the room, to seek the other Master. As Kristal and Duncan left the room through the north door, a third person, who was hiding behind the south door, entered the room quietly, and slowly reached the books Master Duncan was reading, especially the ones with those 'strange spells' that needed a 'demonic' force in the past, but now the spells depend completely on the user, thanks to Materia.
After reading it, Kuarzo smiled maliciously.
"Dragon Slave, eh? … It will be fun…"
After walking for a few minutes, both Kristal and Duncan arrived to another room, similar to the one they were in. However, this wasn't alone…as it was filled with people.
The room had a white glow that they noticed even before entering the room. Inside it, they noticed that there were 4 people they knew, and other 6 mages that were inside it…and some were floating in the air.
The six mages were forming a circle, and on between their hands was an orb of white energy, that emitted an energy beam that connected to each other, forming a six-point star. They also were chanting some strange language. Inside the star, was Master Strum in the middle, with some sphere of energy in between his hands. In front of him was Sapphire, with her eyes closed and an another energy orb in between her hands, and it seems that hers was transferring energy to the one that Strum had in his hands.
The last two were Vivian and Iridia, but they were on the opposite side of the room, looking the events happening. They saw Kristal and Duncan arrive and waved their hands to say hi, but signaled them to not talk, which they obeyed.
After a few more minutes, the orb between Sapphire's hands disappeared, and the one on Strum's hand began to glow even brighter. The six-pointed star formed by the six mages disappeared, and the energy orbs in their hands shoot into the ceiling, before descending fast and hitting the orb in Strum's hands. This last orb increased in brightness, before reducing its intensity. All of the mages and Sapphire began descending to the ground, as the orb in Strum's hands disappeared…and revealed a blue stone, with an emblem of an inverted triangle with a sphere in the center inside it.
"Perfect! We have another one." Expressed Strum, as he looked at the stone in his hands. "Thanks for your help, Miss Sapphire."
"I'm glad I could help." Said the Maiden of the Aqua, before looking behind Strum and seeing the newcomers. "Oh, Miss Kristal, Master Duncan! Good to see you both!"
The mage turned back to look at the people the princess of the ocean was talking too.
"Ah, you arrived just in time, old friend." Commented Strum, showing him the stone in his hands. "We got them."
"Oh? So you managed to create one of those 'Demon's Blood Talismans'?" asked Duncan with intrigue.
"Indeed, friend. I read how these items work and get to learn mostly their composition. These books had information of them, but I also get the notes of other mages that have studied them, and finally I managed to make some workable Talismans."
"How did you managed to circumvent the need of using the power of a demon lord from another galaxy?" asked Duncan in confusion.
"Simply: I used the next best thing." He said, as he pointed to Sapphire, who showed them a small shard of crystal on her hand.
It was one of the Crystal Shards they took from the Water Temple.
"A Crystal Shard?" asked Kristal with confusion.
"Exactly." Said Strum with pride. "We obviously don't have, nor want, a demon lord to use its powers, so we use the next best thing: The Crystals themselves."
"Exactly!" expressed Sapphire, as Vivian and Iridia got closer to the group. "Using the power of the Crystals Shards, we can call on their power, and Master Strum though we could use that as amplifiers."
"Yep!" Exclaimed Vivian. "We already made a couple with some Wind Crystals, and now we are making some with the Water Crystals. And it works!"
Duncan just chucked a little, causing everyone to look at him in confusion.
"Man, Alan was right: we DO rely so much on our crystals." Commented Duncan, causing everyone to laugh nervously.
"To be fair, they do the same thing." Expressed Strum. "If what he told us is true, humans on his world rely so much in some strange substance for their technology. What was it called?"
"Petroleum, also known as fuel."
"Yeah, that. He told us their civilization rely so much on that stuff it's causing some problems with their ecosystem. Seems that is normal for civilizations: use something in excess until that starts causing problems."
"Yeah, but they are like 6 billion people on his world. We DON'T have those numbers, and yet we have caused 2 ecological catastrophes on this world and probably will reach a third one. We DO rely so much in our Crystals."
"That is true…but that is why we'll have to stop the destruction of the Crystals." Said Strum, showing him the new stone. "And hope with these ones we can do something."
"Wow." Said Kristal, as she looked at the stone. "I can feel so much magical energy from it."
"Well, it's a Crystal Shard." Said Iridia. "Master Strum and Miss Sapphire used their powers to excite the Crystal Shard and then keep it like that when forming the magic stone. With this, we can increase our mana pool and use so many other spells at once."
"Neat! So…what will be its name? We won't use that 'Demon's Blood Talisman' thing, right?"
"Of course not!" exclaimed Strum, giving it a though. "Crystallum Talisman… Yeah, I'll give them that name."
"Really? Just Crystal Talisman?" asked Duncan.
"Well… it's a Talisman…made of a Crystal Shard, so…makes sense."
"He does have a point." Said Sapphire, laughing nervously.
"Anyway." Duncan started, looking at the stones that Strum has created. "So you will work on more, right?"
"Exactly!" Strum answered. "To create one of these, it's takes half a day if I do it alone, but 2 hours if I have the help from one of the Sages. However, I can't keep all the Sages in here. They need to train too, so I only ask for a couple of hours to make some Talismans, then I do the rest myself."
"I understand." Said Duncan. "Alright, we'll leave you alone, so you can continue with the creation of the Talismans, but don't forget to learn some spells too."
"Don't worry, old friend. I will learn some more spells myself."
"Very well. Kristal, let's go."
"Yes, Master." The blondie answered, as she and the older man began to walk out of the room, as the rest just wave them.
Meanwhile, in another room full of books, the Sage of Lightning Rubina, the Kuriboh Castanea, and the White Dragon Girl Dinara, were all sitting around a table, reading some books on their own, trying to learn some new spells or attacks. Unlike the rest of the mages, two of the three girls in this room had so much trouble learning new things, as they didn't know what to do.
Dinara, however, since she was also a Spellcaster, had it easier to do so. Right now, she was reading a book named "Pokemon: Dragon Elements", where it showed several attacks from the Dragon-Type Pokemon in the Pokemon World, at least the one they got some information from. As she read it, Dinara kind of got the hang out of it.
"Dragon Claw…Dragon Pulse…Dragon Tail?" Dinara read out loud, not knowing what to think. "Some moves are ok, but I don't understand the Dragon Tail thing… I attack with my tail? Maybe I could try some of them…"
"Meh, it's better than what I am reading." Said Castanea, as she read another book named Pokemon: Physical Techniques. "There are so little moves I can do since I don't have an elemental aura."
"What if you just copy the move but WITHOUT the elemental aura?" Dinara inquired, causing Castanea to think out loud.
"Meh, I guess that could work." Said the Kuriboh, wondering what to do. "What do you think, Rubina?"
However, the redhead Oni catgirl didn't answered, causing Dinara and Castanea to look at each other in confusion.
"You ok, Rubina?" asked Dinara.
"Yo, girl! You ok?" questioned Castanea.
Rubina didn't say anything, as her eyes were focused on the book she was reading: Pokemon, Lightning Moves. She stood still for a few seconds…before she collapsed on the table, her eyes turned into swirls as she blabbered in confusion.
"Waaaahhh, me don't understan a thinc!" exclaimed Rubina in confusion, causing both girls to laugh nervously.
"You do know how to read…right?" asked Castanea, arching an eyebrow.
"Yar, Rubina knows to read, but thiz iz hard to get!"
"So you don't understand what the book says?" asked Dinara.
"Yaar… Rubina doesn't understand!" exclaimed the Lighting Sage, punching the table…and breaking it.
"Oh boy…" said Castanea, before thinking a little. "Let's get some help."
"Oh, I understand." Said Dinara. "We should ask one of the mages in here to show us how to do those spells so we can do them ourselves."
"Oh, an example, eh?"
"Exactly."
"Thatz could work!" exclaimed Rubina, before grabbing both Dinara and Castanea. "Letz go, friendz!"
"W-wait!" exclaimed Dinara.
"Not the hair!" Castanea exclaimed, as Rubina pulled her from her fur.
But the Sage didn't hear them, and so she run out of the room, to look for a Spellcaster to ask them to show her some lighting spells.
Master and apprentice were walking by another set of hallways, passing by several mages who were reading and placing books and scrolls on the bookshelves. After a few more minutes, the two arrived a door.
"I can feel Steve's energy in here… along with another one." Said Kristal. "…I think it's with that red headed mage, master David's apprentice."
"Ah, Hinoka, right?" asked Duncan with intrigue. "Yeah, I can feel their energy too…and seems they were training or something."
"Seems like. So, shall we get in?"
"Sure."
Duncan and Kristal approached the door and with a movement of their hands, the door opened, allowing them to enter. The place was a dome, similar to the one Alan and David were using to train, so they thought this was also another training room. As the doors closed behind them, both saw someone flying over their heads and crashing on the wall behind them, before falling to the ground. They recognize him as the other apprentice of Master Duncan.
"So… how is the training coming, Steve?" asked Kristal, looking at the fallen figure of her friend.
"…help…me…" Steve mumbled, as he tried to get up, but failed and fell on the ground again. This gained the ire of a certain red head.
"Come on! Stand up! Aren't you a man?!"
Kristal and Duncan turned to look at the center of the room to see Hinoka, with her mage clothes intact, and holding her halberd weapon on her right hand.
"Oh, hey, Master Duncan, Miss Kristal." Said Hinoka, changing her tone when she saw them.
"You been training with Steve all this time?" asked Duncan with surprise.
"Yeah, just a little training."
"…help…" Steve whined. Trying to move a little.
"Eh… Hinoka…" Kristal started, laughing nervously. "I think you are going so hard against him. Don't you think you need to back down a little with the intense training?"
"Not a chance!" Exclaimed Hinoka, almost showing her anger. "The idiot asked me to teach him something, and when I had my back against him, he then squeezed my breasts from behind."
"Oh…" said Kristal, as she looked at Steve, who was still on the ground, with disdain. "You pervert."
"It…was…an accident…" said Steve, trying to prove his innocence.
"Riiiight…"
"I really don't care if he wants to do pervert stuff with me." Said Hinoka, as she smiled maliciously. "However, if he wants to, he will have to SUFFER the consequences!"
"Oh?"
"Yeah! So, because he squeezed my breasts, I decided to make him pay… by train him seriously."
"It has been a nightmare!" exclaimed Steve, as he tried to stand up. "I have been training for 14 hours straight! No rest or food! She keeps attacking me with third level spells CONSTANTLY! I had no rest!"
"Oh, quit being a baby!" exclaimed Hinoka in anger. "You are crying for training 14 hours straight? Are you less of a man than the human?!"
"Wait, what?" asked Kristal in confusion. "What is Alan doing?"
"Worried about your boyfriend?" asked Hinoka with malice, causing Kristal to blush intensely.
"H-He is NOT my boyfriend!"
"Then why did he call you 'Kristal-chan' back then?"
"Wait, what?!" asked Steve in surprise. Duncan arched an eyebrow with intrigue, and Kristal's face turned into a tomato.
"I-IT'S NOT LIKE THAT! We are not a couple!"
"Then a trio with your sister? He called her 'Kuarzo-chan' too."
"WHAT?!" asked Steve in surprise. Duncan's eyebrows raised a little more…and Kristal seem like she was about to burst.
"NOT LIKE THAT!"
"Sure, whatever." Said Hinoka, seeing as her little teasing was getting a little out of hand. "Anyway, what I meant is that the human named Alan has been training with Master David, and his first session of training was one of 36 hours, where he got hit over and over by Master David's powerful attacks. If you think my attacks are hard, you just wait to get Master David's!"
"What? 36 hours? Without sleep or rest?" asked Steve in confusion and surprise.
"Yes. And also, a 4 hour sleep before they continued training."
"Woa! That is too little sleep! How can he sleep so little before training again?"
"Because he is…special." Said Hinoka with malice. "He is perseverant, and doesn't give up, and because of that, he is becoming even more powerful than ever! I can see why you girls like him so much. He is…interesting."
Kristal's eyebrow twitched a little. The way the redhead said THAT made her kind of…wary that she will want to do something else.
'If she is also falling for him, then I swear I will-!'
"Anyway." Said Hinoka, making some movements with her body to release the tension of her muscles. "I still want to fight, but that mage is no good to. He has been lacking in his training."
"I do agree." Said Duncan, releasing a sigh, before looking at his young male apprentice. "Steve. It seems I will have to use all of my time on this library to get you in form again. While you have been training, it was far less than the rest. You need more training."
"Y-yes, master…" said Steve, as he just sighed in resignation.
"Well then…" said Kristal, as she took a step forward, facing Hinoka. "Mind if I fight in his place?"
"Oh? You want to fight me?" asked the redhead mage with intrigue.
"Of course! After all, it's a little training, and I need to see if what I have learned works."
"Haha! I like you, girl!" expressed Hinoka, before holding her halberd with both hands. "Then come! Let's fight!"
Kristal walked forward before stopping. She made some body movements to warm-up, before summoning her magician staff. She smiled, as she looked at the redhead with determination.
"Alright, ready!" exclaimed Kristal.
"Excellent! Let us begin!" exclaimed Hinoka, as she pointed her halberd towards Kristal. "SUMMON: FLAME BEAST!"
From the tip of her mage halberd, a ring of fire formed, and from it, emerged a wolf of fire. It roared for a few seconds, before it jumped towards Kristal at high speeds. The Dark Magician Girl just smiled, as she formed an orb of water in front of her staff.
"WATERGA!"
The orb of water shoot towards the Fire beast like a comet. The wolf of flames, instinctively, opened its mouth and engulfed the orb of water in one go, before continuing approaching Kristal at high speeds. The beat jumped towards the blondie mage, and was about to bite her…but then the water spell inside him exploded, disintegrating the beast and filling the arena with at least 5 centimeters of water.
Hinoka smiled, before she raised her left arm. Almost immediately, several bubbles of water formed around her, floating around her body, Kristal looked at this with some confusion…before Hinoka extended her left arm towards her.
"SUITON! MIZU FUSEN NO JUTSU!" (Water Style: Water Balloon Technique)
The bubbles suddenly became projectiles and were send towards Kristal at high speeds. The Dark Magician Girl looked at this with surprise, but immediately reacted with a spell on her own.
"MAGICAL HATS!" exclaimed Kristal, as suddenly a large magician hat covered her and divided in four, hiding her from the attack.
The hundreds of bubbles impacted on the middle two hats, bursting them immediately before continuing their direction and crashing on a wall, that also had the same 'shield' like the one Alan and David were training into. The two hats that were destroyed by that attack didn't had anything inside. The attack failed.
From one of the two left hats, Kristal emerged, poking her head over the top of the hat, that opened to let her see outside.
"What were those techniques? I have never seen those before!" Kristal said in surprise.
"These are the spells from another world, blondie!" exclaimed Hinoka. "Techniques and attacks, we all have them on this library! Some of them we had to get by exchanging some info from the Library, but it was worth it. Some of them use some other kind of Aura energy, but we modified them and made our own version so we can use them with our Aura. Surprised?"
"Yeah, I am." Said Kristal, as she jumped from the hat, looking at Hinoka with determination. "Although this makes me more excited. Come! Show me some more of those spells!"
"Gladly!" Exclaimed Hinoka, before tossing her halberd in the air, confusing Kristal. However, that was only a distraction, as Hinoka immediately formed an orb of darkness in her hands, that grew in size before pushing both hands forward, releasing it towards Kristal. "SHADOW BALL!"
A fast and powerful orb of darkness flew towards Kristal. It was as powerful as a Hadoken, and was moving fast. The Dark Magician Girl saw this and reacted by jumping into the air, evading the orb of darkness. In the air, Kristal raised her staff and formed three orbs of ice energy, before tossing them towards her opponent down below.
"TRIPLE BLIZZAGA!"
Three orbs of ice energy flew fast towards Hinoka down below, spinning over themselves as they flew fast. However, Hinoka was ready, as she caught her halberd-staff and spun it over her head, before hitting the floor…creating some flames.
"DIN'S FIRE!"
A dome of flames surrounded Hinoka for a few seconds. The three ice spells from Kristal impacted on the dome of fire, exploding on contact, but doing no damage. After a second, the dome of flames expanded in all directions, and it hit Kristal, although it didn't cause any damage, just felt the heat wave hitting her. Kristal fell on her feet, looking at Hinoka with determination.
'Will be hard to catch her off guard with all those spells.' She though. 'Seems I am the one that gets surprised everytime, as I don't know what those spells look. Once she uses them, I know how to react…but how many spells does she have?'
"Don't let her overwhelm you, Kristal."
Suddenly, Duncan's voice sounded on her mind, as she turned to look back at him.
"Master Duncan?" Though Kristal, responding to him telepathically.
"She knows many spells we don't, but that doesn't mean she can overwhelm you." Said Duncan in her mind. "She also doesn't know what kind of spells you do know, so you can surprise her."
"I know, Master. However, she does know what my spells look, so they can't surprise her. I need to think of something."
"I already know what to do. You need to use a spell that she wouldn't expect. You need to…"
"…Use her own spells." Though Kristal, smiling a little. "And I know what to do. Thanks, Master."
"Good luck, Kristal."
Kristal stood up and looked at Hinoka, who smiled, seeing her determination.
"So you have a plan, eh?" Asked Hinoka. "Alright! Let's see what you can do!"
"Here I go! HASTEGA!"
Kristal's body was surrounded by a golden aura for a second, as an illusion of a clock appeared in front of her, accelerating, before disappearing. Without thinking twice, Kristal began to run towards Hinoka, who was already prepared for that.
"GREEN ELEMENT: AEROSAUCER!" exclaimed Hinoka, as she created an orb of green energy from the tip of her halberd, only to release two blade disks of razor-sharp green air that flew towards Kristal at high speeds.
The Dark Magician Girl saw the blades coming for her, but thanks to her Haste spell, she could see them coming a little slower that what they normally should move, so she managed to evade them, only managing to cut part of her left 'sleeve' and her right cheek, as they continued flying backwards. At that moment, Kristal's aura flared up.
"DARK BURNING!" Exclaimed the blondie mage, releasing from her staff a large orb of dark energy. However, her enemy was ready.
"WHITE ELEMENT: PHOTONBEAM!" Hinoka exclaimed, as an orb of white energy formed in front of her arm, before releasing a powerful beam of white energy.
Both attacks meet in the center and fought for supremacy. However, after a few seconds, both attacks expended all of their energy and released one final explosion of energy, creating a dust cloud. Hinoka looked at the dust cloud, and while she could wait for the dust to clear, she didn't want to wait.
"MARS PSYENERGY: CYCLE BEAM!" Exclaimed Hinoka, before summoning a beam of fire energy that flew towards the dust cloud.
The Fire Beam entered the cloud, hoping it will hit the female Spellcaster in there. However, the moment it entered the dust cloud, the cloud itself disappeared, and revealed Kristal…surrounded by a wall of rainbow energy, that the beam of fire just hit. Hinoka's eyes opened in surprise, knowing what spell it was, as Kristal smiled.
"SACRED BARRIER MIRROR FORCE!" The blondie exclaimed, as the wall of rainbow energy exploded, sending a shockwave towards Hinoka, who acted in response.
"LIGHT SCREEN!" She exclaimed, as a translucent wall formed in front of her.
The shockwave hit the light wall, but it was stronger than it, so the wall was destroyed, the shockwave hitting the busty redhead, pushing her backwards. However, since the Light Screen wall resisted the bulk of the shockwave, it didn't hurt her that much. Still, it left her exposed to Kristal's next attack, one that Hinoka saw…as a sphere of darkness in between her hands.
"SHADOW BALL!"
"Wait, WHAT?!"
Kristal released the orb of darkness from her hands, and it flew very fast towards Hinoka, who was still shaken from the past shockwave. She raised her halberd and tried to use it to protect herself, but it was no use, as the fast but powerful orb of darkness hit her in the stomach, sending her flying backwards, losing her halberd in the process. The redhead mage crashed on the ground, feeling pain on her body, as Kristal got on guard, just in case the redhead attacked again.
"Ow…that hurt." Said Hinoka, as she slowly got on her feet, and walked towards Kristal. "Ok, I give. You are really strong, blondie. Way more than your companion."
"Do not underestimate Steve." Kristal answered. "He is strong…when he is not lazy."
"H-hey!" exclaimed the named one, who was already healed a little.
"It was a fun battle…" Hinoka said, ignoring Steve's words. "And I was surprised that you managed to use that Shadow Ball! Did you learn it in a book?"
"No, not at all." Kristal answered. "I actually learned it during the battle."
"What? How?! That attack is a 'Ghost-type' attack! You needed some sort of Ghost energy!"
"Not really." Said Duncan, as he walked towards the two females. "That attack had some Shadow-like energies, so I suspected we, as Shadow Aura users, could use it with ease."
"Ohhh, I see." Said Hinoka. "I forgot you had Shadow-Auras. Still, learn that attack during battle…are you some sort of genius?"
"Nah! I don't think so." Said Kristal, laughing nervously.
"Anyway, it was a good battle. Thanks for fighting me, girl. Let me repay you by teaching you some other spells."
"That sounds great! I will search for Kuarzo, since I want her to learn some spells too."
"Sure! Go get your sister, and I will wait for you here."
"Great!"
"Well, you girls have fun." Said Duncan, calling their attention. "I will take Steve to another room and train him rigorously."
"Master…you are not serious, right?" asked Steve.
"I am serious. I am disappointed in your lack of motivation during training. We need to do some serious training."
"That sounds…terrible…I don't know if I can-"
"Master Duncan, I need to talk to you."
The 4 mages turned to look to the entrance of the room, and saw that on the door was none other than David, walking towards them.
"Master David." Said Duncan with surprise. "What can I help you?"
"I need to request something for you and your friend Master Strum." Said David, as he stood in front of Duncan and the rest.
"And that is?"
"I request for you to stay here one more week."
Duncan raised his eyebrows in surprise, as did the rest of the young mages.
"May I ask why?" the Dark Magician questioned.
"I would like to train the human Alan for more time, to unlock his potential." Said David, completely serious. "Do not worry: a week here is a day outside, so you will only be here two days in total, but train for two weeks. That will be our limit, as our time in this world is just about to end, and we need to jump to another world for a few days."
"Did you find something with Alan?" asked Duncan, while Kristal walked to stay on his side, very interested in David's words.
"The Keyblade Champion is…intriguing. He is learning new powers and techniques very fast. I think with one more week he could be as strong as you."
"What?!" asked Steve with surprise. "As strong as Master Duncan?"
"Yes. That is the power of a Keyblade Champion. I wish to train him more."
"Very well." Said Duncan. "I will talk with Strum about this, but if you believe Alan will become even stronger with little training, then so be it. After all, this is the best place to be to train: a place to train more in less time."
"Excellent, then I will return to our training. I wish you good luck, to you all."
And with that, David began to walk away, leaving a very confused group.
What kind of power is Alan showing that the Master of this Ancient Library wants to unlock?
The training on the Ancient Library…continues.

Author Notes:
AND DONE! Man, this chapter was fun to make when I wrote it like 3 weeks ago. I hope you liked it.
So, I hope you all caught the references from other animes and games in here. If not, I will name them here:
-The Clair Bible and the Demon's Blood Talismans are from the anime/manga/novel series named Slayers. There are other references in here too.
-During the battle between Kristal and Hinoka, I used spells from other series, not only Yu-Gi-Oh! and Final Fantasy, including: Chrono Cross (the ones that say 'Color Energy' before the spell), Naruto (The one in japanese), Golden Sun (the ones that had 'Psyenergy' in their name), Pokemon, and an online game that I forgot it's name. Since the Library has been in many worlds during the last thousands of years, it's normal they learned and modifided some techniques from other worlds, even if they are hard to get, like the Naruto ones.
Steve is a powerful mage, but he is also a lazy one. He can get stronger fast, but he normally lacks in training, hence why he isn't stronger by now. Also his pervert antics, while being limited now, are still present, as they are part of his personality.
So, everyone is getting stronger on their own merits. The training will last for at least 2 more episodes, so I hope you are liking this, even if it's slow.
Also, I have to announce that, for the month of November, I will post one chapter every week, as I did before, as it will be one year since I posted the remake of my fanfic in here, so expect more on those days. After that, I will see if I can continue like that, or return to the one chapter per 2 weeks.
Anyway, hope you liked it, and see ya in two weeks!
See ya!
