I don't own Sailor Moon, nor did I create it. Naoko Takeuchi created Sailor Moon, this is just my alternate universe version, a sort of "If I created Sailor Moon" story...

CHAPTER 40: HOW I SPENT MY SUMMER VACATION #11

GIRL'S DAY FOR THE BLONDES

JULY 22, 1987

So do you have any plans today? Ikuko Tsukino asked her daughter Usagi, as she served her a plate of pancakes with sausage links.

I'm not sure yet, Usagi Tsukino said, as she buttered her pancakes.

You're not hanging out with lover boy today? Shingo Tsukino, Usagi's younger brother, asked, as he poured syrup on his pancakes.

Jerry has to work today, Usagi said. I may stop in to say hi, but other than that, I really don't have plans.

I noticed you do see a lot of him on his days off, Ikuko said.

Tell me about it, Shingo said. When he's not working, the two of you are practically Siamese twins.

I do spend a lot of time with him, Usagi said. I guess it's because I love him.

That you do, Ikuko said.

As she finished breakfast, Usagi took a quick shower. When she finished and dried off, she wrapped a towel around her body, and went from the bathroom to her bedroom. As she went to her room, the phone rang, and since he was the person closest to it, Shingo answered the phone. A minute later, he came upstairs, and knocked on Usagi's bedroom door. "Hey sis," Shingo said "phone for you."

"Tell Jerry I'll call him in a few minutes," Usagi said.

"It's not Jerry," Shingo said. "Not unless Jerry sounds like a girl with an English accent when he's on the phone."

"Tell Mina I'll call her back in a few minutes," Usagi said.

"Yeah, that's her name," Shingo said. "And judging from her accent, I'd be willing to bet she's from Liverpool."

"Just tell Mina I just got out of the shower, and I'll call her back after I get dressed," Usagi said.

"Okay," Shingo said.

Usagi got dressed, she put on a pink tube top, slim cut capri length faded blue jeans(which were almost white) with the hem cuffed just below the knee, and white leather sandals. She then came back downstairs, accompanied by her cat, Luna. "There's something different about you today," Luna said. "I almost didn't recognize you without Jerry attached to your hip."

"Not you, too," Usagi said. "Shingo's pretty much required by the kid brother union to give me flack about my new boyfriend, but I'm the only girl who gets it from her cat."

"I wouldn't say that," Luna said. "Artemis sometimes teases Mina about her boyfriend."

"Speaking of Mina," Usagi said, "I'm going to call her back just as soon as I make your breakfast.

"Just Meow Mix today," Luna said. "No cream."

"Is something wrong?" Usagi asked. "You usually get it with cream."

"I just don't feel like having cream this morning," Luna said, as Usagi filled her food dish with Meow Mix, and filled her water dish with fresh water.

"You really like this stuff, don't you?" Usagi asked.

"It really is so good us cats ask for it by name," Luna said.

"That's just a slogan," Usagi said. "I'd be willing to guess they called it that because meow is a word people associate with cats. Same with 9 Lives, they named it after that saying, that cats have nine lives. On that note, I'm going to call Mina."

Usagi picked up the phone, and dialed Mina's number. "Hello," Mina Aino said, when she picked up the phone.

"Hey Mina," Usagi said.

"Hi Usagi," Mina said. "You know, we were starting to get a little worried about you."

"What do you mean?" Usagi asked.

"We haven't seen all that much of you lately," Mina said. "Word around the campfire is you've been spending all your time with a certain boy who rides a certain Italian made Harley-Davidson motorcycle."

"You mean Jerry?" Usagi asked.

"So that's his name," Mina said.

"Why do I have this feeling the only reason you're not busting my balls at the moment is because I'm female?" Usagi asked.

"I'm your friend," Mina said. "It's my job to give you a hard time. And speaking of busting balls, we need to have a get-together, with the whole team, including Jerry. He doesn't get off easy just because he's the current love of your life."

"Just do me one favor," Usagi said. "Just make sure we don't cross the line like we did with John."

"We already planned Jerry's initiation," Mina said. "If you don't have any plans today, I'll fill you in."

"He works every day this week through Friday," Usagi said.

"We were planning on doing it over the weekend anyways," Mina said.

"So what did you have in mind for today anyways?"

"Not sure," Mina said. "Wanna hang out?"

"You're not training with John today?" Usagi asked.

"He has the day off from work," Mina said, "so he's working with Molly. I'll fill you in on that when I pick you up."

"So what are we going to do, anyways?" Usagi asked.

"Not sure yet," Mina said. "We'll go to my house, and go from there. I'm about to leave, so I'll be there in a few minutes."

"See you when you get here," Usagi said.

A few minutes later, Mina pulled up in front of Usagi's house, driving a 1965 Volkswagen Kharmann Ghia convertible in black. When Usagi saw her car pull up, she went outside to greet her. "You ready to go?" Mina asked.

"Yeah," Usagi said, getting into the passenger seat."

"I'll fill you in on John and Molly when we get back to my house," Mina said. "Actually, Artemis and I will tell you."

They drove back to Mina's house, and when they got there, they went to her bedroom, where Artemis was sitting on the bed. "Hi Usagi," Artemis said. "Did Mina tell you what's going on between John and Molly?"

'"She told me you saw what happened," Usagi said.

"A couple days ago," Artemis said, "I went over to John's house. I had to ask him a question, and I also wanted to check up on Armstrong. I should explain that he told me once that if his window was open, Luna or I can just go on in. Anyways, I get to his house, I run into Armstrong, he says he's doing a quick patrol of Tri City Park, and the window's open. I should also mention that Molly's car was in the driveway. Anyways, I go up to the window and go in, let's just say it's not a question of what he was doing, but who."

"I don't get it," Usagi said.

"Let's just sat John knows Molly in the Biblical sense," Mina said.

"You mean, they were...?" Usagi said, making a circle with the thumb and index finger of her left hand, and moving the index finger of her left hand in and out of the circle.

"I got out of Dodge before either of them knew I was there," Artemis said. "I came back later, after Molly left, and told him I walked in on him and Molly, and asked if they were doing what I thought the were doing, and he said yes, they were."

At that moment, a cat was on the ledge outside Mina's window meowing, so Mina went to the window to check. She opened the blinds, and saw Armstrong sitting on the ledge. "Hi Armstrong," she said, as she opened the window and let the kitten in. "What are you doing here, anyways?"

"Miss Molly came over," Armstrong said. "Gōrudenhōku asked if I could give the two of them some privacy for about an hour or so."

"I'll give you three guesses what they're doing," Usagi said.

"I only need one," Mina said. "Is it what they do in those movies in that little curtained off room in the back of the video store you have to be 18 to go into?"

"That would be my first guess as well," Usagi said.

"What are Gōrudenhōku and Miss Molly doing, anyways?" Armstrong asked.

"Your mother and I will tell you about it when you're older," Artemis said.

"I realize you're from the future," Mina said, "but in this time, he'd prefer it if you called him John, and not Gōrudenhōku."

"Okay Miss Mina," Armstrong said.

"You don't have to be so formal," Artemis said.

"Anyways, dad," Armstrong said, "I'm going to do a patrol in Tri City Park, do you want to come?"

"Sure," Artemis said. "I have a feeling Mina and Usagi are going to do some girl things, and I don't really want to hang around for that. Besides, I don't care much for the smell of nail polish."

"What makes you think we're going to do our nails?" Usagi asked.

"Neither of you have polish on your toenails," Armstrong said. "Let's go dad, I don't care much for the smell of nail polish either."

"What the heck," Mina said, after the cats left. "Why don't we do our nails?"

"I was thinking of doing mine," Usagi said. "Problem is, I want to match my toes to my fingers, and I don't know if you have the same color I'm wearing on my fingers."

"You can always take the polish off your fingernails," Mina said, handing Usagi a bottle of acetone and a bag of cotton balls. "Besides, I wanted to try a new shade of polish on you."

"What color did you have in mind?" Usagi asked.

"This," Mina said, showing Usagi a bottle of nail polish that was bright red, with hints of fuchsia. "It's from a small company out of La Habra, the company's called Lorac for Fingers and Toes."

"That looks cute," Usagi said. "What's that shade called, anyways?"

"Strawberry Fields Forever," Mina said.

"I'm guessing Carol likes the Beatles," Usagi said, as she removed the polish from her fingernails.

"How did you know the owner's name is Carol?" Mina asked.

"Because Lorac is Carol spelled backwards," Usagi said.

"Well, Carol does like the Beatles," Mina said. "In fact, this particular shade is from her Fab Four collection. Every shade is named after a Beatles song. I've only seen a couple shades so far, Strawberry Fields Forever and Yellow Submarine, which is a bright yellow with bits of aquamarine glitter. Anyways, once you get the polish off your fingernails, I'll do your nails, then do my own."

"You don't want me to do your nails?" Usagi asked.

"I prefer to do my own," Mina said.

After Usagi removed the polish from her fingernails, Mina did her nails. First, she put on a base coat, followed by a coat of Strawberry Fields Forever, followed by a topcoat. After Usagi was finished, Mina did her own nails. "Maybe you can skip my toes," Usagi said. "I don't really want to paint them right now, I kind of like how they look unpainted."

"Fine with me," Mina said. "Adam likes it better when my toes are natural, anyways."

After about 10-15 minutes, their nails were dry. "So what do you want to do next?" Usagi asked.

"Did you bring your bathing suit?" Mina asked. "I was thinking of going to the waterslides."

"No," Usagi said. "We can stop by my house to pick my suit up."

"That'll work," Mina said.

Mina grabbed a swimsuit from her drawer, and put it in a small duffel bag, along with a towel, a skirt for a cover up, and a pair of white leather flip-flops. They went to Usagi's house, where her mom was making herself a cup of hot tea. Hi mom, Usagi said. Mina and I are going to the waterslides, I just came home to grab a swimsuit.

Okay, Ikuko said. Who did your nails? she asked, noticing the new polish on Usagi's fingernails.

Mina did, Usagi asked. Why do you ask?

I like that color, Ikuko said.

It's called Strawberry Fields Forever, Usagi said. I'll ask Mina where she got it.

Okay, Ikuko said. Have fun at the waterslides.

Usagi went upstairs to her room, and grabbed a bathing suit, a towel, and a pair of black leather flip-flops, and put them in a gym bag. As she was grabbing her stuff, Luna came into the room. "Hey Luna," Usagi said.

"Hi Usagi," Luna said. "Where are you going today since Jerry's working?"

"Hanging with Mina today," Usagi said. "We're going to the waterslides today."

"I don't suppose either she or Artemis told you about John and Molly, did they?" Luna asked.

"They told me," Usagi said. "In fact, when I got over to Mina's house, they were about to do it again."

"How would you know that?" Luna asked.

"As soon as I got there," Usagi said, "Armstrong came over, and said Molly was there, and asked him to give them some privacy for about an hour. I didn't realize it took that long."

"From what I hear, it doesn't," Luna said. "But if you count everything they do before actually getting down and dirty, and getting dressed afterwards, it does take close to an hour. Of course, that's just what I heard it is for humans. Of course for us cats, it's not that much different, except we don't deal with beds or clothes, and there's no kissing involved."

"I guess stuff like that would be different for cats," Usagi said. "Anyways, I'm gonna go, I'll see you later."

"See you later," Luna said.

Usagi went back to Mina's car, and tossed her gym bag in the trunk, along with Mina's bag. Mina drove to Imperial Highway, and turned left, toward La Habra.
"Wasn't Camelot the other way?" Usagi asked.

"We're not going to Camelot," Mina said. "Sorry I didn't say anything before, but we're going to Showboat, in Puente Hills."

"You don't like Camelot?" Usagi asked.

"That's not it," Mina said. "The waterslides at Camelot are those fiberglass tubes."

"You don't like those?" Usagi asked.

"That's not it," Mina said. "I should have told you all this before, but I suffer from claustrophobia. I don't do all that well with small enclosed spaces."

"You do okay in the shelter when we have meetings," Usagi said. "That's a small enclosed space."

"I can handle Rae's fallout shelter," Mina said. "It sleeps 10, so it's not that small a space. And I can see the exit, so I know I'm not trapped in there. Anyways, I went on one of those fiberglass tube waterslides once, and by the time I got out, I was practically on the verge of a nervous breakdown. That's what I like about the ones at Showboat, they're open air flumes, they aren't a problem. I can handle theaters, like going to a movie or show, or sports arenas for concerts or sports, because it's a pretty big space, even if it's enclosed. I've been to Disneyland a couple times, the only rides I have a problem with there are the submarines and Casey Junior Circus Train, but only the cages. I know you can see outside, but they lock you in, and last time I got locked in, it felt like I was trapped."

"Does anyone else know about this?" Usagi asked.

"No," Mina said. "I'm kind of embarrassed, having a silly little fear like that."

"It's not silly," Usagi said. "Phobias are serious business. And you shouldn't be embarrassed or ashamed, either. Everyone has something they're afraid of. For me, it's spiders. Anyways, I really don't like the slides at Camelot myself. I like being in the open, in the sunlight when I'm on a waterslide. Besides, they're next door to Malibu Grand Prix, I may wanna go there and do a few laps on the track."

"We may do that afterwards," Mina said.

They went to Showboat in Puente Hills, where they paid for their sessions on the waterslides, and went to change. The two of them ended up wearing matching swimsuits, bikinis with strapless tops, the only difference being Usagi's was pink, while Mina's was yellow. They went on the waterslides, first briefly rinsing themselves off in the shower.

After the waterslides, they wanted to ride the race cars at Malibu Grand Prix, but were denied, due to their choice of footwear, as flip-flops were considered a safety hazard. They thought about playing miniature golf or playing some games in the arcade, but decided on something else. They ended up going back over the hill, back to Orange County. "You hungry?" Mina asked. "It's just about time for lunch."

"Yeah I'm hungry," Usagi said.

"Where do you want to go for lunch?" Mina asked.

"Ever hear of a place called Tommy's?" Usagi asked, as Mina turned onto Fullerton Road, heading back towards La Habra.

"I love that place!" Mina said. "Back during spring break, my mum had some business to take care of in Los Angeles, and she took me. She'd been there before, she took me there for lunch. Their chili burgers are so good."

"I was thinking that would be a good place," Usagi said. "Jerry took me there a couple times. It's real easy to get to, turn right on Whittier, and it's in the shopping center on Whittier and Idaho, kitty-corner from La Habra High."

"I know where that is," Mina said. "I pass by there every so often when I have to pick my mum up from work."

"Where does your mom work?" Usagi asked.

"Mitsubishi Bank," Mina said. "It's on Whittier and Beach."

"You ever meet Sharon, the head teller?" Usagi asked.

"Once or twice," Mina said.

"She's Jerry's mom," Usagi said.

"No way," Mina said. "I met her a couple times, but never knew she was Jerry's mom. Of course, I don't know Jerry all that well."

"None of you know him all that well," Usagi said. "Yet."

"But we will, at least once school starts back up in September," Mina said, as she turned onto Idaho, and turned left into the shopping center, She pulled into a parking space next to Tommy's, where she and Usagi went in to eat. "I'll have a cheeseburger with no pickles, chili cheese fries, and a large Pepsi."

"I'll have a cheeseburger," Usagi said, "chili cheese fries, and a large Dr Pepper."

"So how did you meet Jerry, anyways?" Mina asked.

"His uncle went to high school with my mom," Usagi said. "Back on July 4, my mom and I went out for breakfast, his uncle took his mom, his sister, and him out for breakfast, we just happened to end up at the same restaurant. His uncle recognized my mom, and invited us to eat with them. Turns out Jerry's had a crush on me since he first moved here, but this was the first time he's had the courage to talk to me. After breakfast, we went somewhere to talk. We ended up at this walking track in La Habra, he made up some corny but cute poem about me, all the things he loved about me. The last line was that he wasn't sure if he loved my lips, so I kissed him. It was the first time I'd kissed him, in fact, it was his first kiss. But when we kissed, it felt like I'd kissed him a million times before. And about a week after I started dating him, I had my princess dream again."

"Your princess dream?" Mina asked.

"I thought I mentioned something about it to you guys before," Usagi said. "For about a year before I became Sailor Moon, I occasionally had a dream about a princess who lived in a palace on the Moon. The princess was in love with a handsome prince, and she also had a talking black cat as an advisor. I could never see their faces, but for some reason, I always knew I was the princess. And like I said, about a week after I began dating Jerry, I had the dream again, and was awoken by two realizations: first, this was more than a dream, it was a memory of my past life as Princess Serenity. Second, I realized the identity of the prince, it was Jerry. No wonder he had a crush on me."

"What do you mean by that?" Mina asked.

"When he first laid eyes on me," Usagi said, "he didn't realize it at the time, but it triggered a memory of his past life, where he and I were lovers. Turns out, the same night I realized that my princess dream was actually a memory of my past life, he had a similar dream, which he had been having for a while himself. Like in my dream, he always knew the prince in his dream was himself, but the same night I realized the prince in my dream was him, he realized the princess in his dream was me. And he also told me that the first time I kissed him was his first kiss, but when my lips touched his, he said it felt familiar, like he and I had kissed a million times before."

"You two did kiss a million times before," Mina said. "Just not in this life."

"Right," Usagi said. "When he somehow got the nerve to talk to me back on the Fourth of July, my gut told me I had to hang out with him. It didn't make a lick of sense, but my gut told me all the pieces would fall into place in their own time. And when he recited that corny but sweet poem he composed in his head, and got to the last line, I just had to have him love my lips. So I kissed him, and the rest is history."

"What was history?" Sharon Husted asked, as she, Cecily Aino, Caryn Frehley, and a blonde haired woman who appeared to be in her early 30s, entered. "I heard you talk about kissing a boy, so I'm assuming you're talking about my son."

"Oh hi, Jerry's mom," Usagi said. "John's mom, and Mina's mom."

"What about me?" the younger blonde asked. "I'm somebody's mom."

"Hi Liz," Mina said. '

"Hi Mina," Liz Wolf said. "I don't suppose the girl with you is the girl who's supposedly dating Sharon's son."

"Guilty as charged," Usagi said. "I'm Usagi Tsukino."

"And I'm Elizabeth Wolf," Liz said. "But you can call me Liz, everyone else does. Anyways, I believe you met my daughter once."

"I did?" Usagi asked.

"Liz's daughter is friends with Jerry's sister," Mina said.

"Debra mentioned you coming over to see Jerry one morning when my daughter was spending the night over," Liz said. "She said you told her and Debra you were his girlfriend."

"People seem to be surprised Jerry's dating a girl like me," Usagi said.

"Some people are surprised he's dating any girl," Sharon said. "Don't get me wrong, he's my son, and I love him, but he's not exactly all that great with the ladies."

"He did seem a little nervous around me at first," Usagi said. "but he warmed up quickly. But to be honest, I think part of the reason I like him is that he's not like the other boys at school."

"Definitely marches to his own beat," Mina said.

"But that's what I love about him," Usagi said.

"By the way," Liz said, "the bank's having a get-together at Black Angus this coming Saturday. It's for families, so Jerry knows he's invited. Anyways, Usagi, you're invited as well."

"And remind him I've saved him a flier," Sharon said. "Whenever we have a get-together, I make up fliers, I inject humor in them. Jerry's collected them ever since I started making them 6 years ago. Anyways, remind him that it's at 6:00."

"I'd love to go," Usagi said.

Later on, after they finished lunch, Mina and Usagi went back to Placentia. "I've never been to Black Angus before," Mina said.

"It's nice," Usagi said. "It's a steakhouse, kind of fancy, but not too fancy. You've been to Sizzler, haven't you?"

"Yes," Mina said.

"It's slightly more fancy than Sizzler," Usagi said. "Except Black Angus doesn't have a salad bar."

As they were driving back home, they decided to stop in to Tower Records, where Usagi's boyfriend Jerry was working. When they got there, he had just gotten off break, and was working the counter on the video side, where he was watching The 400 Blows on the store's VCR. "Of course, your boyfriend's watching Truffaut," Mina said.

"I happen to like this movie," Jerry said. "Anyways, what are you girls doing here anyways?"

"You mean, besides seeing you?" Usagi asked.

"And remind you about Black Angus on Saturday," Mina added.

"I'll pick the flier up from my mom this week," Jerry said.

"We ran into your mum at lunch," Mina said. "She was with my mum, Caryn, and Liz. They told us about Black Angus, and your mom said she already mailed you a copy of the flier."

"Hopefully there's a couple ladies from the La Mirada branch who show up," Jerry said. "My mom started these so-called "flier parties" back in 1981, when she worked at the La Mirada branch, and brought it over when she came back to the La Habra branch a couple years ago. Tell you what, though. The gang from La Mirada, they were a fun bunch of people to hang out with."

"We're gonna go," Usagi said, as she gave Jerry a kiss. "But we'll see you."

"I love you," Jerry said.

"I love you," Usagi said.

The girls left, and went back to Mina's house. "I guess we can hang out here for the rest of the afternoon," Mina said.

"Sure," Usagi said.
