Kyouya wakes in increments. Even without opening his eyes, he can tell the dirty cement is splattered in his own blood. The cold leeches into his bones, locking his joints and making him numb.
Kyouya opens his eyes and finds Mukuro standing near the window, looking out at something. The injury on his face is gone now, maybe covered in an illusion or simply healed.
Kyouya sits up.
Mukuro turns to look at him and stares. "I checked your pulse."
Kyouya stands up.
Mukuro backs away and his expression twists into a humourless smile, muscles twitching like he's barely holding back from a snarl instead. "I didn't want to use this now, but I guess I have no choice."
Mukuro pulls a gun out from inside his jacket, checks the revolver is loaded, and then shoots himself in the head.
Mukuro opens Kyouya's eyes, his new body somehow -terrifyingly- free of any injuries. He sucks in a breath, finds his own body now slumped on the ground and-
A screen pops up.
[Possession: level 1
You do not have a high enough level to possess this person.]
Mukuro snaps back into his own body and sit upright with a jerk, immediately checking for threats, but Kyouya drops and doesn't get back up. Mukuro reaches up to check the place where he was shot because maybe the possession bullet was…
There is a long string of text on Mukuro's wrist.
Mukuro scrambles up to his feet, looking around for another Mist user. What the hell is this? Who's strong enough to do this to him without even leaving a trace? Is it Kyouya, with his rising from the dead trick?
Something flickers in front of him, glitching in and out of existence until it finally settles into a pale blue screen. There's a little warning in fine print at the right bottom edge of the screen, informing Mukuro that he has a pirated copy and to please purchase the original.
Mukuro's eyes flicker over the screen and when he looks at the small map-thing in the corner for too long, the screen changes to show an enlarged version.
A purple dot in the middle is apparently Mukuro, the violet dot is a passed out Kyouya and the figure legend says the black line is a Night flame portal.
Mukuro pulls a covering of Mist flames over him right before it opens wide enough for a Vendicare prison guard to step through. Mukuro doesn't hesitate, he just runs, grabbing Ken and Chikusa from an outer room along the way with illusionary vines.
Mukuro lays low for the next few weeks.
Initially, he ordered for the best fighters in Namimori middle school to be beaten up, to attract the Decimo's attention and mostly to see if Mukuro and his minions could actually fight the best.
If Ken or Chikusa had trouble, Mukuro would have stepped in to see if the person had active flames stronger than him, and if that happened, they would have pulled back and retreated.
Surely the Vongola didn't take him so seriously? Mukuro hadn't even been causing that much trouble, certainly didn't involve too many people in it. It's a small middle school in a small town, what the hell called such a powerful Mist over to mess with Mukuro's head!?
He keeps seeing those blue screens everywhere, but he doesn't know if the Mist is following him or if it's one of Trident Shamal's mosquitoes that gave him this sickness.
Mukuro drags a hand through his hair and floods his body with a burst of his own Mist flames, like he'd been doing systematically ever since he first read that screen. It's supposed to purge any foreign flames, but he hasn't felt anything but his own in the first place, and the screens are still here.
The screen first appeared when Mukuro stepped into Kyouya's body. The screens themselves are self-explanatory. Literally.
It was easy to call up the menu again and he coasted through everything, eagerly taking in all of the skills popping up, and even taking the time to read through the terms and conditions.
It could have been a trap, but where would it have led Mukuro, what was the end goal? The Skylark has something to do with the screens, but is it a weapon or something else?
Mukuro needs to study this more.
