Hi everyone! Sorry for the long absence, I really don't have a excuse other than not being able to decide what to do next. I have two requests; which I promise I will get to next; I promise.
So this is a Halloween one-shot, and half the credit goes to A true oncer. It's some Swanbeliever Halloween after the finale battle. So, enjoy. And Happy Halloween. This is also my third attempt at posting this one-shot, I tried twice yesterday. It would say that it was posted, but never would show up.
I do not own OUAT or it's characters just my imagination.
Chapter 214: Our first real Halloween.
Henry steps out of the yellow bug, crossing his arms up on the roof, as his mom stands a couple feet away from the car "So… what are we doing out here?" he asks with a chuckle. They were out near a field, with the chilly fall air around them. Ever since his mom won the final battle against Gideon, she always going out of her way to make everything and anything special.
Emma turns around to look at her son, glad in her famous red leather jacket, with a hoodie layered underneath with a fitted cap on. "We're picking pumpkins kid" she laughs, as if it should be obvious.
Henry looks around, like he must be missing something "Um mom… there is no pumpkins here" he says, motioning around, obviously confused.
"Well not yet" Emma says, raising a eyebrow, almost daring him a bit.
Henry shakes his head, sticking his hands into his coat pockets, walking around to stand next to her "You do know we can always go to Peters pumpkin patch…"
"He won't have any like this" Emma smirks big, as she raises her hand, using magic, this was a first for her.
Henry steps back as he sees something popping out of the ground, the vine. Within seconds, it's growing out, and long with a few pumpkins popping up, then growing rapidly "Let me know when" she tells him excitedly.
Henry laughs watching "You do know, you don't have to do this…"
"I know" Emma nods, as she focuses "but this will be the first time since New York we'll actually get to celebrate Halloween, for real, no threats… just a real Halloween, and that is worth making it special" she smiles at him.
Henry gives her a closed mouth smile back; he knew she wasn't going to give up on that one. So, he watches the pumpkins plump up and turn orange, all three different shapes and sizes as the grow. "Stop" he says, as all three get to the right size and shape, all three are good sizes. Not crazy, unrealistic big, but impressive none the less. "Those are perfect."
Emma smiles, lowering her hands, putting a arm around her son "Alright, load them up kid" she teases, as if he was doing all the work. She rubs his back, right below the neck, then goes and opens the trunk, then she and Henry head over to the vine, and unattached them.
A hour later Killian comes into the home he and Henry had picked out for them and Emma when they were in Camelot. He steps inside, taking off his jacket, hanging it on the hook, and moves into the house, finding his wife and her son in the kitchen, music playing as they dig into pumpkins "What do you guys got there?" he asks, walking over to Emma kissing her cheek as he wraps a arm around her waist.
"We're carving pumpkins" Emma smiles, "It's a Halloween thing here."
"Aye I see, I see them around on people's porches and what not" Killian smiles, looking into the pumpkin Emma was working on.
"And it's pretty fun…" Henry chuckles, as he brings out a handful of pumpkins guts and he puts it into the bucket that sat on the table.
"And where did you get them? I didn't see any quite this large when I drove past that Peter's" Killian ask the pair, making the pair laugh.
"They're not from Peter's" Henry smirks at Emma "Mom… decided to try her magic out, by growing some out in the field."
Emma sticks her tongue out at Henry "Just thought I'd give it a try… it didn't hurt anyone."
Killian smirks "Well, that is good to hear, since I am a cop and all…"
Emma laughs "Yeah, yeah" she waves him off "the point is though, I technically haven't used my magic in a while, I needed to do a little something."
Henry laughs "It's been nice though, things actually feel… normal now. Like, New York normal, when we didn't have our memories back."
Emma smiles "Yeah, it is nice huh?" she nods "It's crazy to think this our first Halloween since that… wow, we really did never stop did we?"
Henry shakes his head "But we get to make up for it now. For everything."
Killian smiles, placing a hand on the lower part of Emma's back "And there will be many like this to come love" he says, kissing her cheek.
Henry bites his lip, watching them, it still sometimes grosses him out seeing them kiss.
Emma spots the look on his face "It's just a kiss on the cheek kid…"
"I know… still kinda weird" Henry shrugs.
"We're married now lad; it'll be happening more" Killian smirks at him.
Henry rolls his eyes, then continues with the pumpkin.
The next night, Henry sets the finale pumpkin onto the top step of the house, as Emma works on lightening them, as they get ready for the trick or treaters.
"Anything else mom?" Henry asks, as fixes the string of lights on the railing of the steps.
"Just go get the hot chocolate" Emma smiles "We have the candy, our blankets."
"Got it" Henry smiles, as he nods to head back into the front door of the house.
Emma grins, as she puts on her hat, Henry had talked her into wearing costumes to pass out the candy. He dressed as Woody, and she was Jessie. After everything, she couldn't say no to this. Emma sets the thicker blanket down to sit on, and she does so, setting the bowl onto the step by her feet, as she hears the front door close.
Henry sits down next to her, and passes her a travel mug "Here you go" he smiles, as she takes the mug. "You think we will get trick-or-treaters?"
Emma nods "I don't see why not" she shrugs "they all seem excited when I was out earlier" she says, sipping her hot chocolate. "Can I ask you something kid?"
"Of course, mom."
Emma sighs, wrapping both hands around the mug "When… you brought me here, and we sat on your castle. Did you know what the final battle was? Cause, you said I'd fight the final battle."
Henry shakes his head, turning his head towards her "I thought it was breaking the curse… I had no idea."
Emma nods "I was just curious… I never remember seeing anything like that in the book."
"I wonder if… when my book was written, if they even knew of the legacy, if anybody did."
"Fiona did" Emma chuckles "but she thought it was Rumple…" she says, putting a arm around Henry now. "It doesn't matter now though… I was just curious."
Henry leans into her some "It doesn't, you won. And you did what you where meant to do, fight off the darkest of them all."
Emma smiles "I did, but you were the real hero, you saved me."
Henry sits straight again, as kids could be seen coming from the right "Cause true love concurs all" he smiles, as a group of kids start calling out trick-or-treat to them.
Again, Happy Halloween to you all. Got a couple requests that will be coming your way, so stay tuned. Until next time…
