The Alpha Female

Epilogue

4 Years Later…

Bella slept peacefully that morning, the morning sunlight gently filtering into her bedroom from the window. She sighed in her sleep as she settled down more, lightly tugging the covers up her body to ward off the cold she felt. The sound of the bedroom door creaking open slowly didn't disturb her, nor did the light patter of feet heading her way. Soon, something fuzzy tickled her nose, causing her to twitch her nose in her sleep, a frown etched on her face, though she didn't wake up. A small giggle followed her actions before the fuzzy thing tickled her nose again, this time effectively waking the brunette up.

Opening her chocolate brown eyes, Bella frowned as she sat up, looking to the side to see what exactly had woken her up. Her frown turned into a smile as she looked down into the face of her four-year-old son, Ethan.

Ethan Armani Black was the apple of his father's eye, and a complete mama's boy. He was the spitting image of his father, from his eyes to the cute smile on his face. His hair had a slight curl in it that he got from his mother, but other than that, his features were that of Jacob. He was also an adventurous little boy and he gave not only Jacob and Bella, but the Pack trouble when he decided to go off on an adventure of some sort. But it didn't matter, because the little boy was loved by everyone everywhere he went. Sometimes Bella couldn't believe that she had given birth to him only four months after conceiving him, nor could she believe she had almost lost him. But here he was four years later, the sweetest and happiest bundle of joy that she had ever had.

Ethan smiled at his mother while holding his stuffed wolf toy before greeting, "Morning, mommy."

"Good morning, my sweet," Bella replied before gently taking Ethan under his arms and lifting him to sit on hers and Jacob's bed. Once the boy was comfortably settled between her and her still sleeping husband, she asked, "What are you doing up so early?"

"I'm hungry," Ethan answered simply.

Bella chuckled and nodded before saying, "Okay, I'll go make breakfast now. You wake up your father for me, okay?"

Ethan nodded. "Okay mommy."

Bella got out of bed and put on her house robe before leaving the bedroom and heading to the kitchen. After washing her hands, she pulled out the necessary ingredients to make eggs, bacon, sausage, hash browns, and waffles. She could finally use her new waffle maker! Soon she was bustling around making a delicious breakfast for her and her family. Of course, she made twice as much for her husband's large appetite. Once she was done, she went back to her room to get her son and husband for breakfast, wondering why they hadn't come for breakfast yet. Entering her room again, she smiled at seeing that rather than wake Jacob up, Ethan had snuggled up to him and had fallen back asleep.

Shaking her head, she walked over to Jacob and gently shook him saying, "Jake, wake up."

Jacob groaned in his sleep before opening his eyes to look up at his wife. Smiling he said, "Morning Bells."

He looked to his side to see his son sleeping against him, causing him to chuckle. Sitting up, he picked up Ethan and gently jostled him saying, "Wake up, buddy. It's breakfast time."

Ethan opened his eyes and rubbed the sleepily before saying, "Morning daddy. Breakfast time."

Jacob and Bella laughed before exiting the bedroom with their son, Jacob and Ethan making a stop by the bathroom first before joining Bella at the table to eat. Soon the three of them were enjoying breakfast and talking, Ethan thoroughly enjoying his mother's waffles. Halfway through breakfast, a knock sounded at the door. Jumping from his seat Ethan shouted, "I got it!"

He ran to the door and after struggling with the lock a bit, opened the door to reveal Embry and Quil. Smiling at their guests, Ethan shouted happily, "Uncle Embry! Uncle Quil!"

"Hi, little man," Quil greeted as he picked the little boy up, lightly throwing him in the air and catching him, Ethan squealing in delight.

Embry smiled as he stepped inside, greeting Jacob and Bella as he did. He and Quil joined the couple at the table and settled down, Ethan sitting on Quil's lap as he returned to eating his breakfast. Jacob smiled as he asked, "So what brings you guys here?"

Quil and Embry looked at each other before saying, "Paul is calling a Pack meeting."

Bella raised an eyebrow. "A Pack meeting? You guys haven't had one of those in a while. What could he possibly be wanting to call one for, and without Jake's permission?"

"I don't know, but he's only calling one for the men; Leah isn't included."

"What?" Jacob said in confusion.

"Yeah, I thought it was weird, too," Embry said. "But he is and he wants to meet with us on First Beach at eleven."

"That doesn't leave us much time."

Jacob shoveled in the rest of his breakfast before going to put on some clothes and brush his teeth. Five minutes later, Jacob was ready to go and gave Bella a kiss on her lips, then Ethan a kiss on his head before telling them he'd see them later. Once he was gone with his best friends, Bella couldn't help but laugh as she shook her head.

Ethan frowned and asked, "What's so funny, mommy?"

Bella looked down at her son and answered, "Oh, nothing honey. Just that it's funny how your father and his friends can't figure out why Paul doesn't want Leah involved in their meeting. Now come on, let's go get dressed. We're visiting Grandpa Charlie today."

"Grandpa Charlie!" Ethan exclaimed before running down the hall to his bedroom.

Bella followed him to help him pick some clothes and put them on, all the while wondering when her husband would realize that Paul was obviously planning on proposing to Leah and wanted his brothers' help. Oh well, he'd figure it out soon enough.

Charlie sat at his kitchen table with Ethan, the two of them playing a game of checkers while Bella prepared lunch for them to eat. She decided to make one of her son's favorite meals, grilled cheeses sandwiches and tomato soup, though he always managed to get soup all over his face. Just as she finished grilling the last sandwich, she smiled hearing Ethan shout, "I won!"

Turning she ruffled her son's hair saying, "I'm so proud of you, baby."

"Yes, he did a great job beating me," Charlie told her, winking at her to let her know he'd let his grandson win.

Bella smiled and nodded in return before setting the plate of grilled cheeses on the table before turning back to the stove to ladle tomato soup into bowls for them to eat out of. Soon the three of them were eating lunch, father and daughter conversing while Ethan hummed to himself as he ate his favorite meal. Charlie was actually asking his daughter on lady advice as he had met a woman in Port Angeles one day and the two of them had hit it off well, talking to each other and getting to know one another until the woman (named Abagail) asked him out on a date for this coming weekend. Bella was amused seeing her father was already a nervous wreck before the date, but decided to indulge him in advice, as well as try to ease his worries. Her father hadn't hopped back into the dating scene for so long, he probably didn't know what to do, but she'd help steer him correctly.

Just as they were wrapping up lunch, a knock sounded on the door before it opened and Jacob's voice called out, "Hello?"

"In here, daddy!" Ethan called back.

Jacob walked into the kitchen, greeting Charlie as he did while kissing the top of Ethan's head and Bella's cheek. Looking at what their meal had been, he asked, "Do I get a grilled cheese sandwich?"

"You'll have to make it yourself," Bella told him with a smile.

"Oh, come on Bells. You make the best ones and you know I can't cook."

"Liar, you know how to a bit now. And I know darn well you know how to make a grilled cheese sandwich."

"But yours are better."

"No."

"Please Bells?" Jacob gave her his puppy dog eyes for good measure.

Bella felt herself cracking and eventually sighed, standing up from her seat saying, "Alright, fine. I'll make you three, but you owe me."

Jacob wrapped his arms around his wife and held her close saying, "Thanks honey. And don't worry, I'll make up for it real good later tonight."

There was a seductive note behind Jacob's voice when he said that, causing Bella to blush and a slight thrill of pleasure to run down her spine. She knew exactly how her husband planned on making it up to her, and she couldn't say she wasn't looking forward to it.

"Hey! Not in front of the kid," Charlie admonished them, placing his hands over Ethan's ears who looked at him in confusion.

Laughing Jacob looked at his son and asked, "Ethan, do you want to stay with Grandpa Charlie or Grandpa Billy tonight?"

Ethan thought about it for a moment before asking, "Can I stay with them both?"

"Sure, I'll just have to pack a bag to stay at Billy's," Charlie answered, grinning when his grandson cheered happily, the boy's parents laughing as he did.

Suddenly Jacob stiffened around her, causing Bella to frown and asked, "What is it, Jake?"

Jacob was silent for a moment, his nostrils flaring as he took whiff of the air before murmuring, "Vampire."

Chocolate brown eyes widened in shock, Bella asking, "What? Who?"

"It's-"

Before Jacob could finish, a knock sounded on the door, causing them to look towards it. Ethan jumped from his seat, saying he'd get it before running for the front door. Bella tried to stop her son, but it was too late, as he was already turning the knob and opening the door. Looking up at the person in the doorway, he asked, "Who are you?"

Bella quickly rounded the corner only to stop dead in her tracks as she stared at the person in her father's doorway. This person, or rather vampire, that she hadn't seen in years, the one she had once considered her best friend with her pixie cut hairstyle and stylish clothes and round golden eyes on her youthful face; it was Alice Cullen.

Alice stared back at Bella before smiling saying, "Hello Bella."

"Ethan, go back to dad," Bella said while still looking at Alice.

Ethan, picking up on the tension coming off his mother, nodded and ran back to the kitchen where his grandfather was, smiling as his father ruffled his hair on his way to be with his mother. Once her son was back with Charlie, Bella looked at Alice and said, "Outside."

Alice nodded and stepped back out in the open, Bella and Jacob following her outside. Once Jacob had closed the door behind him, he quickly turned on the pixie and asked, "What the hell are you doing here?"

"I just wanted to come and see Bella and see how she was fairing," Alice answered. "My intentions here are honest."

Bella sighed before saying, "Alice, I closed that chapter in my life that involved you and your family. I thought I made it clear for you to stay away from me then, and it is still enforced now. I don't want anything more to do with you guys. I'm done with you all, and I'm happy now. Please go away."

Alice looked hurt by the brunette's words. "But Bella, I miss you! We all do! I know we put you through some tough situations because of Edward, but you're still family to us. Please, I miss you. I miss my best friend."

"Alice, I—ow!" Bella tensed as Alice placed her hands on her arms, her skin feeling like it was burning before wrenching herself from the vampire. Looking at her arms, she saw that it was singed, burned from where Alice had touched her.

Jacob saw these burns as well before turning to glare at Alice. Stepping up to her he said, "Bella is done with you and your family. She has a family, a husband and child and she's happy. She made it clear four years ago she wanted nothing more to do with you or vampires in general anymore, and she meant it. Now get out and don't come back."

Alice looked back at Bella for a moment before nodding and walking back to her yellow Porsche. Before getting back in it, she turned to Bella saying, "You're still my sister, Bella. Take care."

With that, the pixie-like vampire got back into her car and drove away.

Turning back to his wife, Jacob asked, "Are you alright?"

Bella, who was still looking at her arms, said softly, "Jake, it's like…it's like when I was the Alpha Female. A vampire's touch only burned me when that happened to me."

Looking up at her husband, she asked, "You don't think…?"

Jacob looked into her chocolate brown eyes, only to see them hazel like they would be when she half-phased and her cheekbones more pronounced. Surprised by what he saw, he said, "I don't think Anais actually retracted the power of the Alpha Female from you. Even though we don't really deal with Cold Ones anymore, I think she wants you to keep it because you handled it so well."

Bella thought about it for a moment before smiling asking, though not expecting an answer, "Then who am I to reject her gift?"

Jacob chuckled and hugged his wife, kissing her sweet lips before saying, "I love you, Alpha Female."

"I love you too, Alpha," Bella replied with a smile.

"Mommy, daddy, are you guys done kissing now?" Ethan's voice asked, cutting into their moment.

Laughing, Jacob turned to see his son on the porch looking at them. Walking over to him, he lifted him up and said, "Yes, and now it's time for the Ethan-plane!"

Jacob took off in a run, holding Ethan in the air and running in circles in Charlie's yard, Ethan squealing and laughing with his arms held out like an airplane while Jacob made engine noises. Bella smiled and shook her head as she watched her son and husband playing together, loving to see them interacting and Jacob being an amazing father.

Taking a moment, she took out her phone and opened the camera, turning the camera to face her so she could look at her face. Like Jacob had seen, she had her Alpha Female eyes and cheekbones, though she could see them beginning to recede. Smiling to herself, Bella couldn't help but thank Anais for leaving her to be the Alpha Female. Her transformation, as unexpected and scary as it was, helped to shape her self-esteem and bring out the confidence in herself that she didn't think she had, as well as shape her into the person she was today. It had been a journey, but one she would take all over again. She did wonder what would happen in the future, but for now she was happy and would gladly help the Pack by her husband's side.

After all, a Pack's Alpha always needed his mate by his side, and she'd gladly fill that role. She was the Alpha Female and she'd continue to wear that title proudly.
