"No, no, no, Cassie, get back there with that!" Caroline exclaimed as she chased her two-year-old daughter around the house. The little blonde toddler giggled and ran her chubby little legs around the corner, only to be caught by her daddy.
Klaus swung his daughter into his arms and held her upside down, gently taking the glass figurine out of her hand to set it on the table. Cassie giggled even harder at being held upside down.
Caroline and Klaus shared a look of exhaustion, but also content at their lives and their little family they've built.
After Caroline's mental health started improving and her relationship with Klaus mended, she ended up pregnant again. Not that either Klaus or Caroline minded because they knew they wanted two or three kids—all only a few years apart.
Well, they got their wish.
Cassandra Bonnie Mikaelson was born on August 26th, 2017, only eighteen months after Elizabeth was born.
And then Josefine Elena Mikaelson was born only eleven months after that on July 19th, 2018.
Of course, the girls go by Lizzie, Cassie, and Josie. And they are inseparable.
And adored by their older sister Hope, who will be turning thirteen in the beginning of December.
"Are we all packed?" Caroline narrowed her eyes when she noticed Lizzie walk in the kitchen with Josie following her like she always does, the older sister reaching the top of the counter for a bag of cookies.
The three- (and a half)-year-old just slowly backed out of the kitchen, gently tugging at her sister's sleeve. "On it, mommy!" Lizzie squealed as she ran towards her room.
The Mikaelsons—and that means all of the Mikaelsons—were invited to New Orleans to witness the marriage of Davina Claire and Kaleb Westphall.
"About bloody time," Kol muttered when he received his "save-the-date" invitation last year.
Bonnie had chuckled from the place on the couch with their newborn daughter, Jessica Lauren Mikaelson, who was born on August 3rd, 2018.
Meanwhile, Rebekah and Matt had two more boys: Adrian Niklaus, born on February 21st, 2017; and Zachary Elijah, born on May 3rd, 2018.
Damon and Elena, who were also invited to Kaleb and Davina's wedding, had another girl: Danielle Gray— Gray for Grayson, after Elena's father—born on May 11th, 2017.
And of course, Jenna and Alaric welcomed their miracle on December 19th, 2016. They named her Miranda Summer Saltzman. Miranda, in honor of Jenna's late sister; and Summer, as in Sommers, Jenna's maiden name.
Jeremy and Anna, Tyler and Olivia, Katherine and Elijah, and Finn and Sage had no more kids within the last three-and-a-half years.
Brooke Gilbert and Lukas and Maya Lockwood were three years old, along with Lizzie, Nate and Stefanie. The six of them were the best of friends, along with Lydia and Jonathan.
Sophia and Hayden are almost five years old, and they love being the oldest of their little cousins—as Hope, Emma, Chris and Tate were off in their own world most of the time, with them being so much older. Katherine and Elijah have been talking about having another baby once the twins turn five. Elijah wants a big family, but Katherine would settle for three kids, and they don't want their last baby to be so far apart from the twins.
Klaus helped Caroline carry the suitcases out of their house, where Stefan Salvatore and his 1963 Porsche 356B Karmann Coupe were waiting to take Caroline and Klaus to the airport.
"You do realize that we have to take the van, right?" Caroline raised her eyebrows. "We can't all fit in there and no way are my girls getting inside a car like that until they are thirty years old."
Stefan rolled his eyes. "Care, I obviously needed a way to get here—also, are you sure I should drive your car? I'm not on your insurance."
It was Klaus' turn to roll his eyes. "Just drive carefully and take care of Henry while we're gone."
Stefan grinned as the blonde Labrador ran out of the house and towards Stefan. The dog put his paws on Stefan's hips and panted his tongue out. "Hey buddy, we're going to have a fun couple of weeks, won't we?"
"Are you sure you don't mind letting him stay with you?" Caroline asked.
Stefan shook his head. "Of course not. I've always wanted to steal him, to be honest."
"You can keep him—the girls and him get into way too much trouble," Klaus chuckled as he held Lizzie and Cassie's hands gathering them out of the house. Caroline followed with Josie in her arms and Hope behind her. She called the dog back into the house before she locked it. It wasn't that far to the airport, but she didn't want to put the dog through the drive without a potty break. Plus, Stefan has to stop by their house anyway to drop off the van.
"Well, you guys better not get into too much trouble yourselves on vacation," Stefan smirked. "Keep your legs closed," he whispered to Caroline as she slid by him to put Josie in her carseat.
"Hey!" she laughed and hit his shoulder.
…
"That plane ride was goddamn awful," Kol groaned as he stepped out of the terminal, rubbing circular motions on his temple. "Too many kids…loud, loud kids."
"It's your fault for having too many of us," Hope shrugged as she grabbed her luggage off the conveyer belt. She was twelve, almost thirteen, and she certainly acted like it. She was no longer the sweet little girl who took after her mother, Hayley. She now powered all of the sass of a Mikaelson. "It's called wearing a condom."
Emma chuckled as she drank her iced coffee—Emma was only ten, but she and Hope were so close it was like she magically aged two-and-a-half years. Both girls were at the age where they thought they were too cool for family gatherings, and so were wearing sunglasses inside the airport.
"Who said you could drink coffee?" Kol ignored his niece and asked his stepdaughter as he plucked the plastic cup out of her hands.
"Mom," Emma replied.
"No, I didn't!" Bonnie said as she passed the duo to grab the bags, a fourteen-month-old baby in her arms.
"Hope's right, though. We brought…" Freya quickly counted all of the little babies, "thirteen children under the age of five."
"We are almost five!" Sophia sassed her Auntie Freya. The little hand on her hip and the finger pointing was the cherry on top. Another true Mikaelson.
"Yup!" Hayden agreed, like he always does.
Katherine and Elijah chuckled at the twins. They were quite the pair. Sophia did the sassing, while Hayden just agreed with whatever she did or said. Definitely little mini Katherine and mini Elijah.
"Hello, New Orleans!" Damon exclaimed as he pushed his sunglasses up.
"Why were you invited again?" Sage raised her eyebrows.
"Because Kaleb and Davina like me," he shrugged.
"Actually, it's Elena that we like," came Kaleb's voice from outside the terminal. "You're just in her package, unfortunately."
Damon rolled his eyes while Elena giggled.
"Of course, we love seeing Christian, Stefanie, and Dani, though," Davina added.
"It's great that you guys are here, but how are we all getting to your house?" Bonnie asked.
"Yeah, I doubt you have a car big enough for 17 kids and 13 adults," Elena added.
"Well, we do have some help," Davina grinned as she gestured to Marcel, Camille, Josh and Aiden. Hayley and Jackson had arrived last weekend and are renting a car, so that put seven cars in the picture.
"I call riding with Josh!" Katherine exclaimed.
"Hey, no fair!" Caroline cried.
…
"Wow, this house is gorgeous," Elena gasped as they entered Marcel's mansion. Everyone else followed suit of Elena's reaction and gaped at the wide open inside courtyard, surround by two grand staircases leading up to a balcony overlooking the courtyard. The courtyard would be considered just a living room if it didn't have plants growing left and right and the ceiling wasn't as tall as the entire house, with the second floor surrounding the center of the house not just above it. But the plants were well maintained. There were plush couches and plenty of chairs and tables—all part of a matching set. In the middle of the floor was a giant fountain. Along the walls were apartment-like windows, insinuating that each guest bedroom had a balcony to overlook the courtyard. There seems to be eight bedrooms, four on each side.
If they thought Katherine and Elijah's house was nice, or Damon and Elena's or Caroline and Klaus'… well, no comment.
"The kitchen is right through those doors," Marcel pointed to the double doors beneath the balcony. "Dining room is that way, as well. Over to your left is the master bedroom wing and a library, on the left is two bedrooms and a bathroom. Go up the stairs, and to the left will be four bedrooms and a bathroom, and same will be on the right. Each bedroom has a balcony that overlooks the living room."
"Wow," all the females whispered in awe.
"I will not assign bedrooms—just don't all fight, because then I'll have to intervene," Marcel chuckled. "Camille and I are in the master bedroom on the west wing, and Davina and Kaleb's room is on the east wing, leaving one more room downstairs and eight upstairs."
Hayley and Jackson were the first to pick out a room at the very end of the east hallway, and the rest of their friends all eventually just fell in line behind each other. It's not like the rooms would be too different. Next to Hayley and Jackson was Rebekah and Matt, next to them Finn and Sage, and then Freya got her own room.
On the west side left Damon and Elena at the very end, next to Bonnie and Kol, next to Caroline and Klaus, next to Katherine and Elijah.
Katherine opened the door to their room and did a little happy dance. She was wondering why there were two stories of windows for the rooms, but the whole house was only two stories—it should have been three. It's because each guest room had a little cutout in the ceiling with a tiny staircase which led to a little cozy attic space. Their room at least had a reading nook and a window seat. The layout of the actual bedroom was pretty simple. A king-sized bed in the center, against the wall. A closet to the left, some bureaus to the right. There were even little bunkbeds in the right corner.
"We picked the right room, huh?" Elijah nodded at the bunk beds. "I wonder if some of the other rooms have a baby crib. Zach, Josie, and Jessica are still sleeping in cribs."
"All I can say is that I love this house!" Katherine squealed and then fell backwards onto the bed.
…
"Okay. First things first," Caroline began, "what are we doing for your bachelorette party?!" The blonde fell backwards on the couch besides Elena and Hayley. The girls had all gathered in the living room to discuss bachelorette party plans. Some of the guys were lurking somewhere with the kids.
"Well, we are obviously going to the bar and dancing the night away," Hayley said.
Davina laughed. "I'm totally down for that."
"Copious amounts of alcohol will be provided," Camille added.
"As the man of honor, I have set up a wonderful night for us in Marcel's bar," Josh said.
"Oh, nice!" Elena cheered.
"None of us have ever been to the famous bar," Bonnie added.
"Oh, it is so nice," Josh said. "I have a sign that says that a bachelorette party is being held, so enter at your own risk!"
"Okay, okay," Marcel walked towards the group of girls and Josh, hanging out in the center of his living room. "One, you do not have permission to destroy my bar! Two, the wedding is not until next Sunday, so the party will not be until next Saturday night aka nine days from now. Do not get yourself excited about how drunk you will get."
"The Bachelor party is next Friday night so that each parent has a night to just drink and have fun," Katherine explained to no one in particular. "Which, I am all for."
"Me too," Sage nodded as she sipped her glass of wine. Sage and Katherine wasted no time once they got all settled in and unpacked and already broke open the bottle of cabernet that Marcel had left in the kitchen.
Marcel snatched the bottle of wine from the wives of the two eldest Mikaelson brothers and shook his head. "You guys are in New Orleans—the Crescent City, the city of witches, the Big Easy! Get out and enjoy it!"
"I, for one, agree with Marcel," Rebekah said. "I am looking forward to shopping in the French Quarter."
"Oooh," Caroline and Katherine perked up. "Shopping?!"
Klaus and Elijah made their way over once they heard the most dreaded words a husband could hear coming from their wife's mouth. Klaus had Cassie sitting on his shoulders, and Elijah had Sophia hanging over him as if she were a cape on his back and her hands interlocked around his neck.
"Klaus and Elijah, on their way to protect their credit cards!" Kol snickered from across the room.
"Why don't you all go on a date tonight?" Camille suggested. "There are plenty of restaurants and attractions and museums to see, and the city is quite beautiful at night."
"One word: kids," Bonnie answered.
"We can watch them all!" Camille said.
"Seventeen kids?" all twelve parents from Mystic Falls asked at once.
"Why not? There's six of us! That's almost three kids per adult!" Davina said. "Freya can go out too as I am sure she is the one most sick of babysitting duty."
"Oh, you want to bet?" The youngest Mikaelson sibling asked as she put on her sunglasses. "Toot-a-loo," she waved as the nineteen-year-old strutted towards the front door.
"Wow, she is definitely your sister!" Kaleb exclaimed. "I see all five of you in her."
"Well, we are a pretty badass family," Kol gloated.
"I don't know what that has to do with anything," Damon commented.
"Anyway, no one needs to watch Emma or me," Hope said. "So, it'd be fifteen kids."
"Yeah, we'll probably just watch a movie or something," Emma added.
"It is seven o'clock… the babies might just sleep through the night," Matt said, referring to his seventeen-month-old son, Caroline and Klaus' fifteen-month-old daughter, and Bonnie and Kol's fourteen-month-old daughter.
Rebekah looked at her husband as if he had said the most brilliant thing in the world. She shared a look with her sisters-in-law and said, "I am in. Matt and I definitely need a night out."
"Yeah, I guess Elena and I could go out to dinner, share a spaghetti noodle until our lips meet in the middle," Damon sighed sarcastically. Elena responded by gently hitting him on his shoulder.
"Christian!" Elena called for her eldest child, who was now eight years old. "Keep an eye on your sisters, okay?" The boy with bright blue eyes nodded. His sisters, Stefanie and Danielle, were three and two.
"Okay, who is taking who?" Caroline said. "The kids' kind of have their own social group: Hope and Emma are besties, so are Christian and Tate as they are only one year apart. And then it is Sophia and Hayden either hang out with just each other or they join Lydia, Jonathan, Stefanie, Nate and Lizzie. Sometimes the girls just play together, and the boys play separately. Oh, and then Adrian, Cassie and Dani. Last group is Jessica, Josie, and Zach."
"Okay…" Aiden chuckled. "Camille can put the babies to sleep, Marcel will hang out with the two older boys, Kaleb and Davina get to have the large group of three/four-year olds, and Josh and I will take the two-year olds."
"Bedtime is no later than 9pm!" Bonnie exclaimed as Davina dragged her off the couch and pushed and Kol towards the door. "EMMA! Your bedtime is no later than 10:30!"
"GOT IT!" Emma shouted, but shook her head knowingly to Hope.
"HOPE! 10:30!" Hayley began to shout at Aiden was pushing her and Jackson out the door.
"I GOT IT!" Hope lied.
"NO INAPPROPRIATE MOVIES GIRLS," Caroline shouted.
"Enjoy New Orleans!" Marcel laughed.
…
Caroline and Klaus strode down the French Quarter hand in hand, in awe of the festivities and the lights and the music.
"Where shall we go to dinner, my love?" Klaus asked his beautiful wife. He may be standing in the most beautiful city in the world, but its beauty will never compare to the woman he sleeps next to every night.
Caroline smiled. "I am excited to just spend some time with you." She wrapped herself into his arms and he kissed the top of her head. She angled her head up so she could whisper in his ear, "Also, I am incredibly horny." She lightly nibbled on his ear.
He groaned as his wife started performing magic with her hands. He pulled her into the first restaurant they passed, the blonde giggling as he dragged her towards the bathrooms in the back. Luckily, there was no one in the women's bathroom. He clumsily locked the door behind him as she fumbled with his belt buckle. He lifted her up onto the sink and pulled her panties below her dress. Their kisses were sloppy, but full of hunger and love. Of course, their sex life has not diminished since having kids—but it is certainly a turn on to have slutty public restroom sex. Unsanitary, but so hot.
"Klaus," Caroline gasped. "I need you."
He lifted his head away from her chest, where he had been leaving a hickey dangerously close to her neckline. He grinned a shit-eating grin, while his eyes had the softest, most in love look ever. Their eyes locked to exchange a moment of pure love and they both knew that their relationship was the best thing to ever happen to them, their family, and that no one would ever love another like they loved each other. They shared a look a pure love and affection before their animalistic instincts overtook them and he slammed into her and she screamed out in pleasure.
…
Katherine puckered her lips as she reapplied her red lipstick in the bathroom of an Italian restaurant. She smirked as she saw her devastatingly handsome husband fix his tie and hair beside her.
"The things you make me do, Katerina," Elijah chuckled.
Katherine twirled to look at her husband and rested her hand on his thigh. With the things she has planned for their few hours of freedom, she shouldn't have bothered reapplying that lipstick. "Come on, that was super-hot. I want to do that ten more times before we leave tonight," she stood on her tippy toes to nibble at his neck. Elijah could feel his eyes roll to the inside of his head and his heart racing.
"Katerina…I feel bad for hoarding this bathroom—"
"Shhh…" she quieted him with a collide of their lips. Between every word was a kiss or a pull of his lips with her teeth, "I. Want. You. To. Fuck. Me—"
He grabbed her ass and threw her onto the kitchen sink, hungrily attacking her lips and yanking her underwear off from under her little black dress. She yelped in surprise at his aggression, but she loved it so much. He was always such a kind and respectful man, but when they have sex she loves when he gets rough.
…
"Mmm, this beignet is to die for," Bonnie moaned as her and Kol strolled through downtown.
Kol chuckled at his wife. "I can tell you what I'm dying for."
Bonnie raised her eyebrow at him. He grabbed her hips and spun her towards him, his lips crashing down on hers. He pulled away and chuckled at the white powder from the beignet being smothered over both of their faces. She smiled as she leaned in for another kiss.
"Can we please go have slutty sex in a bathroom?" he whispered.
Bonnie's eyes fluttered as she saw the movie theater lights in the corner of her eye. "I may have a better idea…"
They picked a movie where there wouldn't be a lot of people and found a secluded spot in the back. The movie was like a half over, but neither cared as they were definitely not going to watch it. Kol wasted no time and immediately pulled Bonnie onto his lap, pulling her dress up around her hips. He groaned when he realized she wasn't wearing any underwear. "Trying to kill me, darling?" he whispered.
She nodded and giggled as she leaned forward to kiss him. "Surprise," she smirked as she reached her hand down between them to guide him towards her.
"God, I fucking love you," he groaned as she started to bounce.
…
Rebekah started off the night dragging Matt to a boutique to try on some dresses, and then she promised they could get dinner. When he started to complain that she could just return to the clothing store with Elena or Hayley, she decided to show him exactly why it was good to have him there. When the dressing room attendant wasn't looking, she dragged him into the dressing room with her and threw him up against the wall.
"Are you going to fuck me or no?" She asked as she started unzipped his pants.
"I think this is highly illegal," he whispered, but making no attempt to stop her.
"Does it look like I care?" she smirked.
"We'll never be able to come back."
"Oh, boo hoo, I don't like their clothes anyway," she laughed. "Just do it," she whispered into his ear. Wasting no time, Matt lifted her into his arms, her legs wrapping around his waist, and turned them around so that her back was against the wall.
…
"This coat closet was incredibly risky," Finn muttered as he threw his jacket onto his back and slipped his arms into the sleeves. He began to fix his hair in the mirror that resided behind the door.
Sage smirked, still leaning against the wall, afraid to move her legs. Finn and Sage had already eaten dinner and enjoyed their time to themselves. The restaurant they went to has a coat closet and as they stepped in to grab their coats, well, things escalated as they realized how much they wanted to have sex at this very moment.
She stood up and pushed the jacket off his shoulders. She leaned up on her tippy toes to nibble on his ear, which she knows sends him off.
"Sage," he moaned. "We really should get going—we had our fun—"
"But I want to have more fun," she whispered. She placed his hands under her skirt, inching them further towards the place of desire. "And be really loud this time—I want to get kicked out."
"God, you're going to be the death of me," he groaned as he pushed her against the wall, making her squeal in delight.
…
"How the hell did we just do that," Elena breathed as Damon rolled off of her. She turned onto her side so she can face him, in all of his sweaty and panting glory. "We just had sex on a fucking rooftop!" She giggled. "I feel so alive right now," she laid back and stared up at the stars.
"You make me feel more alive every day," he whispered as he stared at her beauty.
She smiled as she moved her gaze towards him. A feeling surged through her and she rolled on top of him. "Want to go again?" she smirked.
"Oh, god, yes," Damon moaned as she slipped him right back inside of her. "You're so amazing," he stared at her in awe as their hips rocked together in a rhythm.
Her hair cascaded around her face like an angel and he quite literally feels like he's in heaven.
…
"Oh hey!" Caroline exclaimed as she saw Bonnie and Kol in line to get ice cream. "Look who it is!"
Bonnie and Kol turned to greet their sister-in-law and best friend.
"Ending the night with some ice cream, too?" Bonnie asked her best friend as their hug ended with their arms staying around each other.
"Of course. There's no other way to end a romantic date. Right, Nik?" The blonde winked at her husband. Klaus just smiled at her. He definitely had the most amazing night with her.
"So, what did you and the missus do tonight?" Kol asked his brother while their two wives stepped forward in the line, talking about how delicious their food was and how beautiful this city was. "Also," the younger brother began to whisper, "your top and second button are not lined up correctly."
Klaus chuckled and whispered to his brother, "I almost couldn't keep up with her."
"I know what you m—" Kol stopped dead in his tracks as his eyes landed on something he never wanted to see.
"What are you looking at?" Klaus followed his brother's gaze and also could not believe what he was seeing.
Mikael and Esther.
Or their doppelgangers at the very least.
But holy crap, it looked so much like them.
They were across the street, dancing to some local guitar player putting on a show in the middle of the square. They were laughing and happy.
Definitely couldn't be Mikael and Esther.
"You boys okay?" Caroline asked.
"It's our turn to order," Bonnie said. "Cookie dough, right?" Bonnie clarified her husband's go-to ice cream order.
The two younger Mikaelson brothers decided to just shrug off what they had just seen. No use upsetting their wives when the night was almost over. They would pull the rest of their siblings aside tomorrow morning and discuss what they had saw. Even if they had wanted to say something, the ghosts of Mikael and Esther across the street had disappeared, almost as if they had never been there at all.
…
"Look what the cat dragged in!" Marcel laughed as the last of his guests rolled in from a night well deserved with their partners. Most of the kids had been asleep for a couple hours, and they had just sent Hope and Emma to bed (an hour later than they were supposed to but Davina and Camille joined the girls to watch another movie after they put the littlest children to bed). It was eleven o'clock, and all of the parents began trickling in just a few minutes apart. With the babysitters still up and sharing a bottle of wine in the living room, they all decided maybe they should end the night with a game.
Katherine, with her and Elijah being the last ones back from their date, grinned. "Oooh, a drinking game perhaps?"
"Already on it," Marcel said as he entered from the kitchen with some shot glasses in his hand.
"Are we playing truth or dare?" Aiden asked.
"NO!" Caroline and Bonnie screamed.
"Not after last time," Rebekah shook her head.
After Elena gave a pointed look to her sister, Katherine exclaimed, "Come on, guys! That was over five years ago! I have no dirt on anyone tonight."
"Every time we've ever played truth or dare, Katherine always found a way to embarrass or hurt me and Elena," Caroline explained. "High school, college, and even when she was pregnant and we were all friends!"
"She keeps things interesting," Sage defended her sister-in-law.
"How about we play Never Have I Ever?" Josh suggested. "Makes sense with the shots."
"Okay, but no sex related things," Rebekah agreed. "I don't need to have really disturbing images in my head every time my brothers and their wives or their ex-girlfriends take a shot."
Kol snorted. "Where's the fun in that?"
"It would also be really awkward," Matt pointed.
"Boo hoo," Damon threw popcorn at Matt. "Party poopers," he called Matt and Rebekah.
"Everyone should say whatever they want, sex related or not," Elena added.
"But no stupid things please," Hayley said. "No, 'never have I ever been to Hawaii,' because that is lame."
"Ugh, if I barf at the end of the night, I am never hanging out with you lot ever again!" Rebekah cried but ultimately gave in to playing this stupid game.
"Okay, Miss Bride-to-be!" Marcel called as he finished pouring everyone their first shots. "You go first."
Davina thought for a moment. "Okay. Never have I ever…had sex in a public bathroom."
"Ugh, you've got to be kidding me," Caroline muttered as she reached forward to pick up her shot. Klaus winked at her from across the room. She noticed Katherine and Elijah taking shots as well while sharing knowing looks.
"EW!" Rebekah and Freya both cried while everyone laughed.
…
"Bon-Bon!" Damon cheered. "Your turn!"
Bonnie sighed. "Ugh…I literally cannot think of anything else at this point. I've had four shots already tonight."
"So, what you're saying is that you have something in mind?" Josh asked.
"Yes, but some people would get mad at me because it'll feel like I'm calling them out," Bonnie responded.
"Just say it!" Elena laughed from beside her best friend.
"Okay, okay! But only because I am so tipsy my brain couldn't come up with anything else. Never have I ever had sex with both of the Salvatore brothers."
"Ugh, I hate you," Elena whispered.
"Fuck," Katherine, Rebekah and Caroline all whispered as they took their shot of tequila. Klaus looked puzzled at Caroline taking a shot. When did she sleep with Stefan? Damon also looked at Caroline confused. Stefan never mentioned that.
"Elena, you're turn," Sage laughed.
Elena exhaled and blew some hair out of her face. She seemed to be concentrating. "Fuck… I lost what was I going to say and now—" she turned and gently pushed her friend's shoulder, "I just keep thinking about what you just said!"
"Sorry," Bonnie said sheepishly. "I hate this game because I always forgot everything I have ever done—or not done, rather—when it comes to be my turn. So, I always say something stupid and start drama."
"Just get over it," Katherine sniped. "Elena, just say it."
"Fine. Never have I ever…" she started giggling. "Never have I ever had sex with a Mikaelson brother!"
"Wow, that was just cruel," Josh said as all of the girls except Rebekah and Freya (obviously) took a shot.
"WHAT DID I SAY?!" Rebekah cried, pretending to barf into her hands.
"You already knew the answer to that one," Klaus laughed, referring to the fact that out of the ten females playing this game, four are married to a Mikaelson brother and three are ex-girlfriends, leaving the two remaining girls besides Elena to be the Mikaelson sisters.
"I am feeling very objectified right now," Finn said.
"Oddly enough, me too," Damon agreed.
"Caroline's turn!" Camille tried to push the game further and stray away from this uncomfortable situation.
"Hey, Kat, it's payback time," the blonde giggled.
"Oh no," Katherine rolled her eyes, pretending to be scared of what the blonde will say.
"Never have I ever had sex with more than one Mikaelson brother."
Camille sighed. She should've known that this game was a bad idea. She took a shot and could feel Sage's glare burning through her.
Hayley took a shot as well. She was obvious—she was Elijah's ex-girlfriend and Klaus' baby mama.
Katherine shook her head as she took a shot. "Touché, blondie." Everyone knew that her and Klaus had a thing in college before she even met Elijah. It is part of the reason why they disliked each other so much, but now they tolerate each other because they're family now and they both guess they kinda like each other.
"All four?" Josh asked, secretly commending her in his brain because the Salvatore brothers and the Mikaelson brothers are all very easy on the eyes.
"All four as in both Salvatores and two Mikaelsons or all four Mikaelsons? Because I did both." The words came out of Katherine's mouth before her incredibly drunk brain could even process what was happening. She gasped and covered her mouth with her hands the second the words left her mouth.
"What?!" Sage and Bonnie both shouted, each turning their focus to Finn and Kol, respectively who were just staring at Katherine in shock.
"What?" Elijah's voice faltered, as if you could literally hear his heart drop into his stomach.
"Oh no," Caroline said.
"It was before we started dating," Katherine scrambled to explain herself to Elijah. "Before Sage and Finn ever met—and—and—"
"You both lied to me," Bonnie addressed Kol and Katherine. "Everyone assumed you two were dating in high school, but you both claimed nothing happened when it did!"
"While we're on the topic of people I never knew my wife slept with," Klaus began, "When the hell did you sleep with Stefan Salvatore?" he asked Caroline.
"What?"
"You took a shot when Bonnie said, 'never have I ever slept with both Salvatore brothers' hehe," he said sarcastically.
"Oh no."
"Oh, yes."
"After Tyler and I broke up, before me and you started dating—"
"Why didn't either of you ever say anything?"
"Why didn't you ever say anything?" Sage shouted at Finn. "Katherine has been my best friend for the past five years… you never brought it up!" She gave a pointed look to Katherine, "NEITHER OF YOU?!"
"Because you get very jealous! You are a very toxic person!" Finn responded. "Look at how you treat Camille."
"I don't understand why none of you ever told me," Elijah said softly, addressing Katherine, Finn, and Kol. "At least Klaus told me when he found out Katherine and I started dating."
"It's not that it happened, it's that you lied to me about it!" Sage shouted.
"I didn't lie!"
"Yes, you did!"
"I just didn't tell you the whole truth!"
"THAT MAKES YOU A LIAR!"
"The real liar is Kol because I straight up asked him about him and Katherine!" Bonnie said.
"Stefan Salvatore?" Klaus inquired Caroline, still in shock of the news.
"EVERYONE ENOUGH!" Marcel bellowed.
Elena and Damon, who were sitting in the middle of all of the Mikaelson drama, eyes wide open and terrified for their lives, were relieved to hear the shouting stop.
"Discuss things in your room! Kiss and makeup. Everyone has pasts that they do not like to discuss. Yes, keeping a secret from your spouse is shitty, but sometimes it is the better option if you know how that person will react. Alright, no one cheated. It sounds like everything happened before you all got together. Everything is alright."
Every single Mikaelson brother and their respective wives were silent and glaring at each other.
Elena stood up. "Okay. I am going to throw myself under the bus here. If you think any of your situations is bad, just remember that I dumped Stefan for Damon and I slept with Damon two days after Stefan and I broke up."
"Yeah, Elena's the real bad person here," Damon agreed. When his wife gave him a nasty look he added, "Okay, I am too. And Stefan forgave us anyway! Stefan and my relationship is the best today than it ever has been, believe it or not. Even after the whole Elena thing."
"Yeah, whatever," Klaus scoffed. He started making his way up the stairs to their bedroom.
"Klaus!" Caroline cried as she followed her husband.
Sage stormed towards her room as well, pushing Finn's shoulder with her own as she passed him, not caring if she was too aggressive or not. She tried with all her might to not slap Katherine as she passed her.
Elijah and Bonnie just walked silently to their rooms, with Katherine and Kol following them, not quite sure what to say next.
The remaining friends all just sat dumbfounded as those four couples trudged towards their bedrooms. Rebekah couldn't help but fume silently while also feeling her heart break for Elijah. She was mad at Katherine. She was mad at Finn and Kol. She had a feeling Kol and Katherine were lying, but she never expected this from Finn. He wasn't really the type of guy to hook up with a random girl, who at the time would've been perceived as Kol's ex-girlfriend, and then lie about it to his other brother's face. What was she going to do with her brothers?
"Well… that was eventful," Freya sighed.
"You're telling me?" Rebekah remarked.
…
Katherine awoke to the other side of her bed being empty. She frowned. Elijah crawled right into bed and avoided her after the events of last night. When she tried to touch him, he shrugged her off. Her heart was breaking because she knew she messed up, that she hurt him. She should've never been dishonest. She didn't know why she lied about Kol, why she never told the truth about Finn. It seemed like such a small matter and she never had the heart to tell her boyfriend that he was the last of his brothers in her bed. When she realized she was in love with him, it just sounded like such a shitty thing to say: Hey, I'm in love with you and I've also slept with all three of your brothers! Please marry me. And then they got married and it was definitely too late to bring it up.
She just hoped she didn't ruin everything. She has it so good with him. A man who loves her and her children, someone she can have fun with, someone to talk to, someone to protect and someone to protect her. A perfect life.
…
"Sage, will you just talk to me, please?" Finn asked in a small voice the next morning. She was in the shower and he began to brush his teeth.
"I do not know why you would lie to me. Relationships are about honestly," she said simply as she washed her hair.
"I know. I know. I messed up. What was I supposed to say? When Katherine became Elijah's girlfriend, was I supposed to say something? How awkward would that have been?"
"Doesn't matter."
"Sage. I love you. I never had any feelings for Katherine. I care about her because she is my brother's wife and the mother of my niece and nephew, but I do not have any feelings for her."
"I do not care about that. It's the lack of truth for me."
"I get that," he said after he spit out the last of the toothpaste in his mouth. "I would be hurt too if you had lied to me about someone I knew, too. I see that now. But I never did it to hurt you, I just didn't want this to happen. You're very territorial and would've done something you would have regretted. As for Elijah, he already had to deal with being with Klaus' sloppy seconds for the third time in his life. Tatia broke him and the whole Hayley-Klaus thing made him angry."
She remained silent.
"Would it make you feel better if I made a list?" He asked.
"…Maybe…"
Finn sighed. "Okay." He made his way to exit the bathroom. "I love you."
She wanted to say it back but didn't have the energy to. After a moment of silence, she heard Finn leave the bathroom and cried silently in the shower.
…
Klaus woke up to Josie climbing into their bed and snuggling into his side. He chuckled and kissed the top of her blonde head. After getting a lot of hair his mouth, he laughed even more. "We need to give you a haircut, missy." Josie just shook her head and held her father tighter.
Out of the corner of his eye, he saw Caroline braiding Lizzie's hair while Cassie twirled around in the mirror, her hair already braided. Klaus couldn't help but smile as he watched his wife with their daughters, his anger suddenly melting away. Remembering that his best friend and his wife never told him they had sex made him just upset. He was relieved that his blood wasn't boiling, but he wasn't too thrilled about it either.
"Good morning," Caroline gave a small smile when she noticed her husband staring at her. "How did you sleep?"
"Poorly. I had a nightmare that my wife and my best friend fucked—oh wait, that actually happened." Welp, the anger was back.
"I wasn't your wife; I wasn't even your girlfriend. And can we not even talk about this with our girls in the room?"
"Girls, I smell some chocolate chip pancakes. Go get some."
"PANCAKES!" Cassie exclaimed as she was the first little blonde girl out the door. Lizzie was next to follow suit, while Josie took a little extra time climbing off the bed as she had little legs but then ran her chubby little legs out the door.
"Now we can talk," Klaus said simply as he rolled out of bed to stand up.
Caroline just looked at him in disbelief as he had sent their daughters out of their room. She wasn't even done braiding Lizzie's hair. She gave a small chuckle. "Okay, what would you like to know?"
"Why?"
"The story basically starts with Stefan ignoring me because he was upset about Elena and Damon getting married. He skipped town and never told me where he was going. He never called. I was hurt."
"I remember that," Klaus said.
"I was so angry at him. When he came back, I wanted nothing to do with him. It took Elena and Enzo both pointing out that maybe I was so upset because I had feelings for him. Enzo even called him out on it, for hurting me. When our friendship was rekindled, Stefan mentioned that maybe he had feelings for me too. We decided to test it. There was nothing. Neither of us had any romantic feelings for each other. Whatever feelings there were when we were younger, were gone. And I wondered if there was someone else I had liked instead."
"Who?" Klaus scoffed.
"You, dumbass," she snorted. "I loved you. I still do."
Klaus smiled a little. "But why lie?"
"Do you ever talk about you and Katherine? You and Hayley? No."
"That's not really the same thing."
"Maybe it isn't. But—"
"Anything else you need to tell me?"
"No…Not that I can think of."
"Okay. Let's make a list of things…anything…any skeletons that either of us may have so that we can be 100% honest with each other. Can't believe it took four years of marriage to do this."
"Klaus…" Caroline started.
"I don't like lying, Caroline. No secrets. Please, make a list. And I'll make one, too."
She just nodded as he stood up and walked out of the bedroom.
…
"Good morning, sunshine."
Bonnie woke up to Kol kissing her forehead. She started to smile but then remembered she was angry at him.
"I am still angry at you, Kol."
He just nodded. "I am sorry, I know I shouldn't have lied. There's no good reason."
"You're damn right."
"Just…thank you."
Bonnie sat up and pushed her hair out of her face. "For what?"
"Sleeping next to me last night even though you were angry. For not leaving," he said softly.
Bonnie grimaced. "You're welcome. I had some time to cool down. I love you. But I am still upset. There was no reason to lie to me."
He nodded. "Any scandalous sex you want to get off your chest?" He wiggled his eyebrows. "Come on, Bonnie Bennett!"
"I am still Bonnie Mikaelson," she said, which made him smile. "And…yes. I hooked up with Enzo a while back."
Kol jumped back. "I was kidding, I didn't realize you were keeping a secret hookup from me."
Bonnie shrugged. "It was a one-night stand, about a year after Jeremy and I broke up. I wanted to get back out there…It was dumb. Enzo is a great guy, but I wasn't in a good place to move on. When I was good, I ran into you."
"Holy shit," Kol spoke. "I kind of want to kill him."
Bonnie gave him a pointed look. "Don't."
"So, does this mean you forgive me? It was high school, like you said everyone thought we were dating and assumed that we were fucking. But we were both so heartbroken and healing from our baby distresses that we were honestly just best friends until prom night."
"What do you mean, baby distresses?"
"When we became friends, Katherine was healing from her miscarriage—although I didn't know that at the time— and heartbroken over Stefan, and I had just left Davina, who I thought was pregnant. Neither of us were ready to rush into a relationship, let alone a sexual one. We were just there for each other, as friends. But by the end of the year, we both were ready to get back out there and it just kinda happened on prom night. And then I left for baseball camp," he explained.
"Oh," Bonnie spoke. "It wasn't really a hookup, more of a healing thing for the both of you. It makes sense, but you didn't have to lie about it."
"Katerina was my best friend my first year in the States and I will always be grateful for her friendship and her mischievous schemes, but I didn't love her in that way. I didn't think it would matter. We didn't date."
"But you still had sex with her. And you lied to me about it."
"You didn't tell me the whole truth either. I'm not mad at you."
Bonnie nodded. "I may be a hypocrite, but I need a little more time to think." And with that, she grabbed her towel and walked towards the showers.
"Fuck me," Kol sighed and fell backwards onto the bed.
…
"PANCAKES!" Christian ran down the stairs after he heard his cousins Lizzie, Cassie and Josie screaming about pancakes.
"PANCAKES!" Tate had followed suit.
Davina and Camille laughed as the blonde was setting up some plates and the brunette was flipping pancakes.
"Oooh, and chocolate chip, too!" Katherine said as she entered the kitchen, a trail of kids following her. She seemed to be the only other adult in the kitchen at the moment. She looked at Davina and Camille.
Knowing what Katherine was wondering, Camille told her, "He went for a walk. About an hour ago. Should be back soon." Cami reached over and squeezed Katherine's arm. The brunette nodded sadly as she poured herself a cup of coffee. She was still in her bathrobe and slippers, but she wanted to try to find Elijah.
"How are you doing?" Davina asked as she placed some pancakes on eight little plates. Sophia, Hayden and Nate came down for pancakes as well.
"Fine," Katherine shrugged. "I don't see how he will forgive me."
"They were little white lies. He'll get over it," Davina stated.
"Just give it some time. He knows how much you love him. He knows you never cheated on him. He knew you had a long past before you were with him. He just needs some time to process," Cami gave her psychiatrist input.
"Oh… hey," a voice from the doorway came. Katherine sighed as she recognized the voice was Finn. They never, ever, mentioned that night again. It was never awkward until now. "I was just getting some coffee."
Katherine took a step back from the counter. "Help yourself." She took a deep breath as she watched Finn reach into the cabinet, grab a cup, and pour coffee into it. "Hey, I am really sorry about what happened. I didn't mean to cause any problems between you and Sage."
Finn gave a weak smile. "Neither of us should have lied. It's not your fault."
She smiled back, relieved that at least someone wasn't mad at her.
"Oh, look what the cat dragged in," Davina joked.
Katherine turned around, hoping to see Elijah walk through the door, but it was just Kol descending from the staircase.
"Oh look, the promiscuous wife and the dishonest brothers, part one and deux. What a trio on this fine morning," the youngest Mikaelson brother said sarcastically as he made his way over to the pot of coffee.
"Got any more coffee for me?" Klaus said as he followed his brother into the kitchen. "For once, I am actually the good brother. Never thought I would see the day."
"Oh, ha ha," Finn rolled his eyes.
Katherine bit her lip awkwardly. All three of them were standing across from her with cups of coffee in their hands, all three of them avoiding looking at her. She never felt weird around her brothers-in-law before, but this morning? Oh, she was ready to crawl inside a ditch and die of embarrassment. She was ready to lay down in front of a boulder rushing down a cliff. She wanted to die.
"I want to die," she spoke. "Goodbye. I am going to go throw myself in front of a moving car."
"Oh, goodie! I'll help you," Rebekah's snarky accent commented as she waltzed into the kitchen with her baby Zachary in her arms, Matt and their two oldest boys trailing behind her. "You're a whore."
"Hey, that's uncalled for—" Kol tried to defend Katherine, but then Rebekah interrupted him.
"I'm mad at you two!" She pointed to her fingers at Finn and Kol. "And you too!" She pointed at Klaus, who choked on his coffee.
"Me? What did I do? I was the only one honest with Elijah when he started dating Katherine!"
"Doesn't matter! I'll find a reason to be pissed with you. Whores! All of you!" she set down Zach in the baby seat and put some baby cereal on his plate. She then turned around to flip her brothers off and Katherine. She needed to go brush her teeth, so she turned around to leave the kitchen. As she was exiting, Caroline, Elena and Damon were entering. "You three are whores too!" And flipped the three of them off as she walked past them.
Elena and Caroline both flinched at Rebekah's words and the gulf of angry air and the middle finger in their faces.
"Says the girl who had sex with both Salvatores!" Kol retorted.
Matt sighed. Today was not going to go well. It's not a good day when the Mikaelson siblings are at odds. Their fights could get pretty nasty. He's pretty sure they would all silence each other with a dagger if they could. A family who loves each other so fiercely can also hate each other so fiercely.
"What the hell is she on?" Damon asked, referring to Rebekah.
"She's mad on behalf of Elijah for what happened last night," Matt mentioned.
"Oh god," Katherine whimpered and put her hands to her face. "What did I do?"
Elena chuckled, half sad and half amused. "Oh, honey, are you crying?" She walked towards her sister to hug her. Katherine accepted her sister's hug and started to cry into her arms.
"Oh, please," Sage scoffed as she entered the kitchen with Bonnie.
"Honey, we both know I could rip you to shreds and do my nails at the same time," Kat snapped.
"ENOUGH!" Davina screamed. "This is my fucking wedding week! I wanted you all here because I enjoy your fucking company! Now—if you are going to fight, take it outside and don't fight in my proximity! It's bad luck!" She huffed and blew the hair away from her face.
"I think what Davina was trying to say," Cami started as she patted her friend on the back, "was that you are all family and friends and you need to move past this. I have seen too much love between the four couples who are fighting to let you do this to yourselves. You've all learned what not being honest does to you, so just remember that moving forward. And let yourselves enjoy this weekend. You are in a beautiful city about to witness a celebration of love between two of your friends. Let that remind you of why you're all married in the first place."
"Also," Davina added, "I would appreciate the slut-shaming to stop." She gave a pointed look to Rebekah as she had reentered the kitchen.
"Yeah, that's not very cash-money of you guys," Freya said.
Finn did a double take at seeing his nineteen-year-old sister suddenly appear from the front door all dressed up. "Where the hell have you been?"
"I went on a breakfast date," she responded.
"With who?!" Kol, Klaus, Finn and Rebekah all shouted.
"I met a guy last night."
"What now?!"
"Hey, Freya," came a voice and a knock on the door. "You forgot your jacket in my car."
Freya ran to her date and tried to push him out of the door before her siblings could get ahold of him. She wasn't fast enough. Especially since the boy misread her signal of trying to kick him out and leaned down to kiss her.
"Freya!" Klaus exclaimed and opened his arms wide, with his siblings behind him. "It's about time you brought a gentleman home to meet the family."
Rebekah had her elbow resting on Kol's shoulder and he whispered, "I thought you despised me right now."
"I do, but I can press pause if it means beating up our baby sister's date," she grinned through her teeth.
"I am Freya's brother, and these are the rest of her siblings, minus one brother," Klaus grinned. "Now, what is your name? Oh, don't tell me, let me guess. Brad, Chad, Brody? Let's go with Brody! What are your intentions with our sister? Should we discuss a dowry?"
"Is dad going to do that when I start dating?" Hope whispered from across the room.
"Yes," both Caroline and Hayley sighed.
"Who the hell is this?" Elijah asked as stepped around Freya and apparent Brody, finally returning from his walk.
"Our baby sister's date from last night!" Kol explained.
Elijah's eyes ran up the poor kid, which made "Brody" uncomfortable.
"My name is Lucas," Freya's date introduced himself. "Wow, you weren't kidding on that big, protective family," he addressed Freya.
She nodded, her face wincing from embarrassment. "Lucas, these are my siblings. In age order there is Finn, Elijah, Klaus, Kol, and Rebekah. Siblings, Lucas was just leaving!" And she shoved him out the door.
"Toot-a-loo," Kol and Rebekah both waved their fingers.
Klaus just stood silently laughing to himself as the poor kid literally started running away. The middle child was feeling proud. Should we discuss a dowry. Fucking classic.
Finn and Elijah couldn't help but join in on the laughter when Lucas tripped over a rock in the back yard, caught himself in mid fall and then kept on running. Kol, Rebekah and Klaus howled with laughter.
Freya just stood with an amused look on her face that was also trying to roll her eyes to the back of her head at the same time. "Really?" She raised her eyebrows. "You guys do realize you have children who you can harass?"
"Yeah, but they're too young to date!" Kol said.
"Aww, see? The Mikaelsons bonding and forgiving each other by doing what they do best: being annoying," Damon acknowledged.
Rebekah, realizing she was still mad at ¾ of her brothers, frowned. "Not a chance."
"When hell freezes over," Elijah said. Finn and Kol both felt as if someone had slapped them in the face. Katherine winced.
"Okay!" Freya attempted to be the civil sibling in this matter. "How about I take a few of the kids to the park?"
"Lovely idea," Elijah said dryly.
"I wanna go to the park!" Tate raised his hands and jumped down from his stool where he was eating pancakes.
"Oh my god, did the kids really just see those scenes?" Rebekah asked, noticing all seventeen kids with plates of chocolate chip pancakes. Emma and Hope were the only kids that were probably able to understand what the adults were saying.
The parents sent the four oldest kids—Hope, Emma, Christian and Tate— to the park because they are old enough to take care of themselves while also able to help Freya keep track of the little ones. The little ones included Sophia, Hayden, Jonathan, Elizabeth, and Nate. That was enough children for Freya to handle. The rest of the children had gone to the playrooms to play with Camille or Josh and Aiden, who had arrived with a dozen donuts.
An hour into the park, Freya smiled as she watched Sophia and Elizabeth take turns going down the slide, Chris and Tate dangling upside down on the monkey bars, Emma and Hope practicing tik tok dances near the swing set, and the three little boys playing in the sand box.
"You came with a lot of kids," said a girl from beside Freya on the bench.
Freya laughed. "Nieces and nephews. Have approximately eight more at home. Five siblings," she explained. "Which one is yours?"
"Oh, none. I'm just babysitting that little girl playing in the sand box." She turned herself towards Freya and extended her hand. "Hi, I am Keelin."
"Freya," the blonde smiled. "Nice to meet you—hey, be careful, boys!" She shouted as Jonathan and Nate ran towards Sophia and Elizabeth in one of those playground tunnels. Christian and Tate had taken Hayden over to the swing set. Hope and Emma had navigated towards the woods.
All good.
"Tag you're it!" She heard Sophia's voice.
"Aw man!" she heard Elizabeth cry. And then she heard the giggles of Sophia, Jonathan and Nate as they ran around the playground.
"No, kids!" Freya shouted. "I can't keep track of you like that!" She quickly murmured an apology to the beautiful lady beside her and quickly stood up, trying to chase the kids around. She caught all long blonde hair, swooped her into her arms and said, "Gotcha!"
"Auntie Freya is it!" Lizzie squealed.
But there was no more giggling from the other three.
Freya frowned. "Kids come out please. This isn't funny."
"Freya!" Christian shouted as he ran towards her, holding Hayden's hand. "Tate disappeared!"
"What do you mean Tate disappeared?" Freya asked frantically, still holding Elizabeth close to her but checking all up and under the playground.
"He was here one minute and then I turn around and he's not there," the eight-year-old explained.
"What—"
"HOPE!" Emma screamed.
"Emma?!" Freya yelled. "What's happening?!" She ran towards where Emma was standing in the woods, holding Lizzie close to her and Christian and Hayden behind her. "This is not funny, kids. Can you all come out please?" she pleaded.
"This isn't a joke," Emma cried, tears streaming down her face. "Somebody just came and grabbed Hope right in front of me. Was wearing a dark cloak and everything."
"Emma…" Freya began.
"I'm serious!"
"No…" Freya began to shake her head. "Excuse me!" She called to this older couple sitting on a parch bench, the nine-year-old twins climbing the jungle gym. "Did you see any of these kids—" she frantically searched through her phone for some pictures. Jonathan blowing out his birthday candles, Tate dressed up as a firefighter like his father for a Halloween party at his elementary school last week, Hope posing with a peace sign on their plane yesterday, Nate and Sophia with red frosting all over their faces at Caroline's birthday dinner earlier this month.
"No… I am so sorry," the wife shook her head.
"There was this older couple watching the playground for a while from over there," the man pointed to some rocks a few years away from the edge of the playground. A couple big trees and that spot was the perfect spot to hide. "If they didn't leave soon, I was going to call the cops."
"Oh god…" Freya started crying. She fell to the ground, clutching Lizzie in her arms.
"What's happening?" Christian asked as he saw both Freya and Emma crying. "Where did they go?"
"Someone took them!" Emma cried.
"Where's Sophia?" Hayden asked, his lips quivering.
"Oh god, oh god," Freya began rocking back and forth. "Oh, my god!"
The husband upon realizing what happened immediately whipped out his phone and dialed 911.
…
Caroline, Elena and Katherine sat in one corner of the living room. Bonnie, Sage and Rebekah sat in another. Elijah and Klaus sat in another. Finn and Kol sat in the last corner.
Hayley and Jackson sat upon the kitchen island with cups of coffee in their hands. Damon and Matt sat behind them at the table. These four were waiting to mediate whatever was waiting to explode in the living room. Davina and Kaleb had gone to check on their wedding venue, Marcel had left for work early this morning, and Camille was in one of the extra guestrooms-turned-playrooms with the rest of the eight kids and Josh and Aiden, keeping them entertained.
"Is no one going to say anything?" Hayley whispered to Jackson.
Jackson shrugged. "I have no idea what is going to happen. They're your friends." Hayley rolled her eyes. She knows he never liked the Mikaelsons and was only tolerating them because every single one of their friends did. He wasn't even too crazy about the in-laws, except for Caroline and Bonnie. But he knew Hope was crazy about her Mikaelson side. Hope loved her other family and Hayley loved that for her. So, he tolerated them.
"MOMMY!" the front door opened and slammed shut and suddenly Caroline was being attacked in a hug by her eldest daughter, Lizzie.
"Hi, baby! Did you have a nice morning at the park?" Caroline pulled away from her daughter and noticed her face filled with tears. "Oh, honey, what happened?" Klaus immediately rushed to his wife's side when he heard his daughter sobbing. Caroline wiped her daughter's tears away, but that didn't stop them from pouring out.
"Hope is gone," the three-year-old cried.
"What do you mean Hope is gone?" Hayley exclaimed, her and Jackson rushing to their feet, Hayley's cup of coffee shattering on the ground.
"MOMMY!" Hayden was the next kid to run in through the doors. They heard Freya apologizing to somebody about Lizzie taking off like that when they saw the house in their vision. Hayden attacked Katherine in a hug, and she picked him up, holding him close to her heart.
Elijah stood up, expecting Sophia to run through the doors and into his arms.
Emma and Chris entered next, tears streaming down their faces. Emma rushed to her mother and Christian rushed to his parents.
"Sophia…i-is gone!" Hayden whimpered.
"What?" Elijah and Katherine both felt their hearts dropping six feet below the ground. Elijah stepped closer to Katherine and their son to examine his baby for any bruises. He wrapped his arms around Katherine, not caring how upset at her he was just five minutes ago. This was the woman he loved and the family they had built. He would be damned if he let someone take that away from him. Including himself.
"There was a kidnapping, someone took the rest of the kids," Emma sobbed. "I am so sorry mom; I didn't see where Nate went—" Kol stepped closer to his wife and stepdaughter but kept his distance as Bonnie was consoling Emma. He felt his heart being ripped out of his chest. Who in the world would take his sweet little boy?
Rebekah found herself by Matt and didn't know how to breathe. The rest of the kids? That means her baby—her first baby—her first son was taken as well?
Sage and Finn knew that meant Tate was one of the missing, as well. Forgetting all of her anger, Sage turned into Finn's chest and cried. Shocked by the movement, but somehow relieved that his wife was in his arms and at the same time heartbroken about his son, he wrapped his arms around her and kissed her head, tears falling down his cheek. Everything happened too fast, he didn't know how to process.
A team of five policeman entered the living room, Freya staggering behind, not wanting to step any further past the front door.
"Hi, my name is Officer Scott and I am the leading officer on this case," said the head officer, holding the leash of a dog. The other four officers also had dogs sniffing around. "I am so sorry about your children, but we will do the best that we can to find them. We have our canine friends to help sniff out your children, so if you have any article of clothing that will have their scent, that would be extremely helpful. The following children are missing: Hope Andrea Mikaelson, almost 13 years old, Caucasian, reddish/blonde hair and blue eyes; Tate Cassidy Mikaelson, seven years old, Caucasian, red hair and blue eyes; Sophia Nadia Mikaelson, almost five years old, Caucasian, brown hair and brown eyes; Jonathan Henrik Donovan, four years old, Caucasian, dirty blonde hair and blue eyes; and Nathaniel Nikolas Mikaelson, three years old, African-American, brown hair and brown eyes. We already received photos from their Aunt…"
During that whole speech, Freya could feel ten sets of daggers being sent her way. They had trusted her with their children, and she had let them down. She could only look at the ground; she could not bother to look at them. She could barely see the ground with how much she had been crying.
"Now, we spoke to a few witnesses at the park and while no one did see exactly who took your children, there was observations of suspicious activity from an older couple. We got a character description," Officer Scott explained and motioned for one of his officers to show the photos of the suspects. "Our sketch artist drew these images of our Number One suspects. Do you recognize this couple?"
The five Mikaelsons gaped at the sketches, feeling their blood boil in their veins. Recognizing the photos, Hayley, Caroline, Bonnie, Sage, Katherine and Matt felt the same way.
"You've got to be freaking kidding me," Klaus growled.
"Do you know these people, Mr. Mikaelson?" Officer Scott inquired.
"Yeah, those are our fucking parents."
Wow. So, Mikael and Esther are truly back? Or are they? Did they really take their grandchildren? Also, can you guys guess what the five children missing have in common?
And the relationship drama! Okay, so have you guys seen those TVD memes on Instagram where it has Elena saying, "I had the Salvatore brothers" and Hayley saying, "I had the Mikaelsons" and then Katherine goes, "Bitch, please. I had all four." Well, I freaking loved that and then came up with scenarios of her also being with all four Mikaelson brothers because they are all really hot and I need to live vicariously through someone! Okay? Also, I have been rewatching TVD and I actually like Steroline and Bonenzo this time around so please don't hate me for including that they hooked up at one point. Obviously, Klaroline and Kennett are endgame and everyone's skeletons needed to come out. Also, if no one remembered but Camille dated both Finn and Klaus when they were younger and in England. No, I do not like Klamille this time around. *barf*
