"Marcus kill the girl."
The words bounced around in Harry's head as the world slowed down, allowing Harry to pick out every single detail as the man dragging Ginny gave Lucius a wicked grin and pulled out his wand. His eyes filling with sadistic glee as Ron's mouth opened to yell and he began to struggle.
"You promised!" Harry found himself yelling as he reached for his wand, his mind scrambling for a spell and his body leaning forward to grab the crystal ball out of Lucius's hand and hurl it at Marcus.
"Ginny can't die, she can't!" he mentally screamed, Marcus's wand glowing a toxic green light as he began to saw the dreaded words when all of a sudden the world exploded into motion and someone roared, "Slienco!" and hit Marcus square in the back before adding, "Finestra!" exploding a row of orbs above their heads and raining down a thick cloud of dust as a conundrum of voices exploded to life.
"Who's there!?" Lucius demanded, already twisting to face their unseen attacker when Harry yelled, "Explariumus!" to rip Lucius's wand away and using "Accio orb!" for the orb before he tackled the man to the ground.
"Run!" the person who had saved them ordered as Ron gave his handler a sharp elbow to the gut and grabbed Ginny while Harry grabbed Karma, lugging them out of the corridor as spells began to fly.
"Over here!" their rescuer exclaimed, a flash of white light brightening the room as they ducked and cast Protego after Protego over their shoulders to protect their stunned comrades.
"That was way to close." Harry breathed as they ducked into a small alcove in the room, "Yea," Ron agreed.
"That was even dumber than James' attempt to bring a statue to life to impress Lily." Their rescuer snapped, sounding angry but also fearful as Harry looked up and gasped, "Sirius!"
Relief twisting with joy as his Godfather shot him a stern look before dropping it and sighing, "I think Potters are just born trouble magnets." and focusing on Ginny and Selvis.
"I think it's more of James' eagerness for glory rubbing off on the young Potter." A voice drawled, prompting Harry to almost give himself whiplash as he saw Snape leaning back against the wall. His eyes burning a hole into Harry's head in between keeping an eye out for any Death Eaters pulling away from the fray to try and find them.
"Shut up Snevlious." Sirius growled before he turned back to Harry, "What happened to Ginny and er…"
"Karma," Ron supplied before he explained, "When we were ambushed, the Death Eaters fired off a bunch of stun jinxes and Ginny and Karma got hit by almost all of them."
"We'll need Madam Pomfrey to look them over then." Snape said, "We would do more harm than good if we were to heal them ourselves." He glanced out of their alcove, an annoyed sneer on his face as spells whizzed by.
"How?" Harry asked, "There's no way we can get past the fighting with Ginny and Karma stunned."
Sirius and Snape exchanged a look of mutual loathing before Sirius explained through gritted teeth, "The plan's simple. I'll go and help Moody, Shacklebolt and Fletcher while you two grab Karma and Ginny and follow Snevlious to the extraction poinr."
"Extraction point?" Ron repeated as Harry glared at Snape and said, "I'm not going anywhere with him." putting as much venom into his voice as Snape scolded at the obvious implication who who Snape served.
"When Minerva and I noticed you and Earthbound's friend groups were missing from school. We alerted the Order and hurried over here to rescue you from falling into the Dark Lord's trap." Snape explained, sounding thoroughly annoyed as Harry interrupted him with a sharp, "How do you know this is a trap set up by Voldemort?"
"You will refer to him as the Dark. Lord. Potter." Snape snarled as something in the room exploded.
"Harry, Snievlous is right." Sirius confirmed with a bitter scowl, "Last week, Voldemort summoned Snape for a meeting to explain a trap he and Nagini were setting for you and Earthbound."
Harry's stomach churned as Snape shot him a murderous glare, "Turns out Edgecombe's insistence that she was attacked by Earthbound's snake wasn't a lie like we thought it was. Funny how the world works."
Harry wanted to retort that Ness had insisted he had control over her but swallowed his anger when he noticed Ron shooting him a warning look.
"Yea, funny." Harry mumbled, looking away from Snape and jumping when he realized that Luna and Hermione weren't with them.
"Sirius, did you see Luna or Hermione on your way here?" Harry asked, paling when Sirius shot him a baffled look and Snape frowned, "We saw Ms. Lovegood, she explained where you were and what the current situation was. But we haven't seen Ms. Granger."
"The Death Eaters must have gotten her!" Ron exclaimed, "Bloody hell—she might already be dead!"
A horrible chill settle over Harry at the thought of his second-best friend dead because of his incompetence. The little voice hissing "See! This is why you should have been more cautious!" as Sirius and Snape had a hushed conversation before deciding on a new course of action.
"Alright, slight change of plans." Sirius announced, "Once you lot and Sneivlou—Snape get out of here you inform Tonks and McGonagall about Hermione's disappearance and focus on getting Ginny and Karma out of here."
"But what about you?" Harry asked, realizing that his godfather could die as well. "I'll be fine." Sirius assured him, giving him a crocked smile as he twirled his wand around, "I've fought these gits loads of times before. I know how the handle myself."
"Indeed, he does Potter." Snape agreed, sounding annoyed by this fact as he continued speaking, "Now grab Ms. Weasley and Mr. Karma, I'll be going in front of you to protect you and we won't have a lot of time for mistakes. Understood?"
Harry and Ron exchanged a look before stiffly saying, "Understood Professor." And placing Ginny and Karma on their backs.
"Alright, on the count of three." Sirius instructed, "One, two, three!"
"Just think of this like Quidditch." Harry told himself as they burst out of the alcove, Sirius yelling something and firing spells off as he and Ron followed Snape through a few of the shelves, ducking and jumping over fallen Death Eaters and flying spells as glass exploded around them with horrible human yells.
It felt like eons before they darted through the door, they had come through to enter the Crystal ball room. The Death Eaters Luna had tied up were leaning against a wall lined with swirling tapestries, their wands missing and a woman with black hair and pale skin standing guard.
"Is everyone alright?" the woman asked, sounding breathless as Snape gestured for Ron and Harry to move in front of him as he replied, "We're fine, Sirius is staying back to help Shacklebolt and the others. But Ms. Weasley and Mr. Karma need to head back to Hogwarts immediately."
"Have you seen Luna? Or Hermione?" Harry asked, quickly adding, "Luna's a Ravenclaw with blonde hair and Hermione's a Gryffindor wearing a sliver and red headband." When the woman shot him an imploring look.
"Well, Ms. Lovegood is right over there-," the woman started pointing over to a shelf lined with various fabrics and robes when she paused and paled, "She's gone."
"What?" Snape questioned his tone sharpening as Harry and Ron exchanged a look. "She must have run off to try and find Earthbound!" Ron exclaimed.
"She promised she wouldn't move from that spot!" the woman exclaimed, looking flustered as Snape pinched the bridge of his nose and cursed under his breath.
"Well, clearly Ms. Lovegood lied." Snape hissed, "Which means that we now need to find three people while fighting off Death Eaters."
"And that one guy with a watch." Ron added, frowning when the woman and Snape shot him a baffled look.
"He attacked us before we ran into that crystal ball room." Ron explained, "He was really powerful and was going to hide us in the wardrobes when Umbridge and some other woman attacked us. Then he let us go saying how 'He' was already here and that 'they' were early."
"What did this man look like?" Snape questioned.
"He looked like a muggle, but Luna said he was a PSI user." Harry answered, "He said that we should leave before we doomed Earthbound to a future that wasn't his."
"I didn't see any muggles running around…" the woman murmured.
"This place is a maze, of course we didn't see anyone running around." Snape hissed, "But it would explain why there were so many people knocked out when we got here."
"That man did that? All by himself?" Harry thought, he had thought Ness had done it in an attempt to escape but clearly, he was wrong.
"Jones, keep watch over the Death Eaters." Snape ordered, pulling Harry from his thoughts as the man glared at him, "We'll be heading to the extraction point and leaving."
"We aren't leaving them behind!" Ron retorted.
"Mr. Weasley, we have two disabled people and limited people on our side." Snape coldly reminded him, "Not to mention we have a third group snooping around, possibly for Potter's prophecy."
"My prophecy?" Harry repeated, frowning as Snape simply said, "That crystal ball Lucius wanted you to get." Before pressing on with his original statement, "We need to get you four out of here before we get caught up in another attack."
"We'll find your friends, don't worry." The woman—Jones promised, giving him a warm smile as Harry and Ron exchanged a look before grumpily nodding in agreement.
"Good," Snape simply said, "Now follow me."
They walked through the rooms which Harry realized were more maze like than he had thought when they had been rushing past them.
Several doors were moving and some of the objects in certain rooms were slinking towards them, trying to attack them until Snape pushed them back with a spell.
"We were REALLY lucky." Harry noted as they stepped over a fallen body of an Unspeakable and entered the room with the wall of clocks and wardrobes.
The woman and Umbridge were still on the ground but Harry noticed that someone had moved Umbridge and that she was bleeding from the back of her head. Also, that a third woman had joined them on the floor. Someone had been through here. And judging by Snape's sudden stop it hadn't been someone from the Order.
"Wands out," Snape ordered as he prodded the third woman who looked familiar but also, not. "Someone else has been through here and it was someone hostile to the Order."
"Who is that?" Ron asked as Harry adjusted Karma on his back before he held his wand up, scanning the room for a hint as to where the woman's attacker had gone.
"Tonks, but someone has somehow disabled her disguise." Snape replied, "Which is impossible given how skilled she is with her Metamorphmagus abilities."
"Maybe that man with the pocket watch came back." Ron offered, looking around when they felt a burst of cold air rushing past them and towards Snape.
"Look out!" Harry yelled, flinching as Karma suddenly jerked to life with a sharp wheeze and Snape spun around with wild eyes and his mouth opening to yell a spell when he was knocked backwards by a sudden explosion of snow and ice.
"Ginny?!" Ron exclaimed as Karma began struggling against Harry as someone- Luna called, "Wait, I think that's just Professor Snape."
"Oops." A second person said as a third person huffed, "Friend or foe, I'm still mad at him for kidnapping me."
"Ness? Luna? Paula?" Ginny called, her voice slurred as Harry let Karma fall onto the floor and turned around. Surprised to see Ness wearing a winter coat, his trademark polo shirt and baseball cap with a pair of summer shorts.
Standing beside him was a girl with mid-length blonde hair, a pink tie-dye summer dress with a baggy winter jacket tied around her waist, a bow resting on top of her head armed with a frying pan and a glare.
Luna was behind them, peering over their shoulders and waving hello at Karma and Ginny who were shaking their arms and legs and hissing in pain.
"What the hell hit us?" Karma groaned, "I feel as if a pine tree decided to give me a bear hug."
"You got hit by a ton of stun jinxes." Ron answered as Harry looked at Ness in confusion. "Did you escape and come back with friends or something, Ness?"
"No, I was spending my morning with family when Paula got alerted to something happening in the Ministry." Ness explained, "We weren't in any danger outside of the Unspeakables."
"You should have left a note." Ginny groaned, "We thought Nagini had betrayed you!"
"Nagini?" Ness repeated looking surprised as Luna nodded, "Yea, Harry dreamed she was in position to attack Sirius and Dumbledore and that Voldemort had already captured you."
"That…doesn't sound right." Paula said glancing at Ness who held his hands up in surrender, "I did forget to leave a note, but I figured that the other PSI objects would tell you guys I had left of my own free will. Nagini was with me this morning before we ran over here."
"We asked Sweepy but he said he didn't cross paths with you." Harry stated, "We had to find Karma in order to figure out where you had possibly gone."
"What? But they're all connected to one another." Ness said as Paula frowned, "Hold on…Maybe Sweepy and the others not saying anything is a part of the Nova Enigma's plan to escape."
"Escape?" Ron echoed as Karma groaned, "So this was a plan between two different bad guys? Great, lovely."
"But…why would the Nova Enigma want Potter?" Luna asked, "Potter isn't connected to him in any shape or form."
"Maybe as a backup plan?" Ginny offered, struggling to get to her feet as Ness frowned and agreed, "Maybe…"
"Ignoring that, have you seen Hermione?" Ron interjected, "She's missing."
"No, we just started running around the department a few moments ago." Paula explained, "We were researching things until we realized this was a trap and that Potter was somehow involved."
"I still haven't seen her." Luna answered, looking a little worried as Ness frowned and tried to say something when they heard an explosion behind them.
"Sirius!" Harry exclaimed, realizing with horror that they had failed to escape and that Snape was knocked out cold. "We need to get Tonks and Snape out of here!" Harry said, "Before the Death Eaters in the room-,"
"Too late Potter!" a shrill voice exclaimed as Ness and Paula spun around yelling at Luna to get down as a hazy red spell came flying out of the hallway aimed at Harry's face.
He dropped to the ground, watching as Paula summoned another blast of cold wind and yelled, "You need to get out of here! There's at least ten Death Eaters coming this way!"
"We aren't leaving you behind!" Ginny exclaimed, grimacing as Karma shot her a glare of disbelief, "You sort of have to! You aren't in our party and our abilities keep labeling you guys as enemies!" Ness yelled, "I can't use Rockin' and Paula can't use Lightning!"
"But-!" Harry started to protest when Karma grabbed his robe and hissed, "Let's go. We're a liability at this rate."
"He's right Harry," Ron agreed, looking sick at the idea of agreeing with a Slytherin as he helped Ginny stand, "We need to leave and find Hermione."
"We'll catch up!" Paula promised, "We have two other members still in the Department!"
Two other members…? No, he shouldn't focus on that. He needed to focus on getting out of here and finding more help before—
"On second thought, we should all run." Ness yelled, shoving Luna and Paula into the room and slamming the door behind them, "They really like to fire spells."
"Let's just go." Karma snapped, "We're wasting time!"
It took a while to wake Tonks up and figure out a way to drag Snape out of the room while he was still frozen—and Paula refused to let Ness heal him out of spite and concern that he would simply attack them—while Luna charmed the door shut before they hurried out of the room.
"Where to?" Ness asked as they stepped into the now empty hallway lined with fallen doors.
"We need to find Hermione and the extraction point." Harry said.
"She could be anywhere." Karma lamented as Ginny looked back into the room, "She couldn't have gotten far. If she was trying to find something or someone to help us, she might still be in that section of the Department."
"But Jones hasn't seen Hermione." Ron said, "So, she couldn't have been in that section."
"Or maybe she was but got lost in the maze." Harry theorized while Paula and Ness exchanged looks.
"We may have to split up…" Luna murmured, "One group to find the extraction point and the other to find Hermione."
"But how would that work?" Ness asked, "Do you guys have any way to communicate to each other?"
"Well, we had Sawdust, Sister Mary and Defe but Sister Mary's missing." Luna offered, glancing at the stuffed owl resting in Paula's backpack.
Harry flinched from the quiet "Hoo…" bouncing around in his head and looked back at the door, trying to figure out what to do.
The smart thing was to find the extraction point and tell whoever was waiting there what was going on. But that would mean leaving Sirius and Hermione alone and possibly unguarded if they were injuried.
Although it was weird that Hermione had somehow gotten separated from them. She was always right behind him and Ron with a plan or a warning of precaution ready when they were about to do something dumb and—
Wait.
"Ron, do you think Hermione's weird focus thing came back?" Harry asked, feeling sick as Ron blinked and then paled, "That's probably how we got split up." Ron breathed as Ness and Paula looked at Ginny and Karma for an explanation.
"This morning, she was really out of it." Harry hurriedly explained, "She had trouble focusing on stuff and had to go to Madam Pomfrey's to lie down for a bit."
Paula and Ness exchanged a look but didn't say anything.
"She's probably back in there! Surrounded by Death Eaters!" Ron exclaimed, moving to go back inside when Ginny stopped him, "Ron, we don't know that for sure!"
"We don't know anything for sure." Karma grumbled.
"But maybe she bumped into a member of the Order and they lead her to the extraction point." Ginny argued, pointedly ignoring Karma as Harry retorted, "If they did, they would have told us that! No one's seen Hermione except for us!"
"Which is really weird." Paula muttered but she didn't elaborate when Harry and Ron looked at her. "Well, while you guys argue about what to do, I'm going to drop Professor Snape and uh, Tonks off at the hide out." Ness said, inclining his head towards the only door that hadn't fallen onto the hallway as Paula nodded in agreement.
"We aren't going to get anywhere at this rate." Luna sighed, "Maybe we should flip a coin?"
"Fine," Harry agreed, frowning as Luna pulled a coin out and said, "Tails we head to the extraction point, heads we go back to find Hermione." Before she flipped it.
She frowned at the results but showed it off with an annoyed huff, "It's heads." She announced much to Karma's displeasure.
"Lucky us." The Slytherin grumbled, "We're going to have to go back into the minefield."
"You can just stay behind if you want." Ron offered, giving Karma an imploring glare as Karma scoffed, "And leave my friends in the hands of two headstrong lions? No thank you."
Ron growled at the Slytherin but was interrupted by Ness who asked, "So, we got a plan of action?"
"We're heading back inside." Luna gloomily answered, frowning when Harry threw her an annoyed look.
"What? I can be annoyed with the outcome." Luna remarked, glancing at Paula who sighed, "Wonderful, we get to fight more cultists."
"Cultists?" Ron repeated looking bewildered as Ness deadpanned, "It's what she calls wizards."
"We aren't cultists!" Harry argued, flinching as Paula shot him a murderous glare, saying "Are we finding Hermione or not?" and walked inside the room with Ness trailing behind her.
"This is such a bad idea." Karma groaned, reluctantly following the PSI users as they moved back into the room with clocks and wardrobes.
"Keep your eyes peeled." Harry warned, dropping his voice to a whisper as they moved away from the sounds of fighting and entered a door that had been hidden by another wall of clocks.
"These guys and their clocks." Karma grumbled as they looked around the room which was filled with random objects and a fish tank filled with brains with pink appendages.
Paula and Ness paled at the sight of the brains but stopped when they spotted a mirror with a black billowing cloth cover. "Do not go near that." Ness ordered earning confused looks from Harry and Ron but a series of nods from Ginny, Karma and Luna.
"Cultists…" Paula grumbled under her breath, earning an annoyed glare from Ron before they moved forward.
"Maybe we should be calling Hermione's name?" Harry wondered, chiding himself for such a dumb idea given how they were surrounded by groups who wished to harm them.
"Oh, Ness. Did you and Paula see a man wearing a trench coat with a pocket watch?" Luna asked, "He seemed to be a PSI user trying to help you or something."
"Really?" Ness questioned as Paula shook her head no, "We haven't seen anyone noteable but you guys."
"How?" Ron asked, frowning when Ness curtly answered, "We were looking something up." But didn't elaborate when Harry prodded for more information.
"This is such a weird section of the department." Ginny murmured, the next room filled with several doorways and in the center of the room a giant telescope pointing out of the room and into a bright room.
"Space and time? More like wackiness and time." Ness offered, throwing Paula a playful glare when she tapped him with her frying pan, "Not now Ness."
"At least it wasn't a pun." Karma offered, scowling when Ness chirped, "I do have a few time related puns."
"Don't. You. Dare. Earthbound." Karma snarled as Harry approached the telescope, frowning at how weaponized it look despite being a telescope.
"What was this used for?" Harry wondered, lowering his wand and leaning forward when there was a sudden scuffle to their right and the room dissolved into pandemonium as Sirius, the man who had accompanied Fudge to accuse Dumbledore of being a child groomer when the DA was discovered and Fletcher stumbled out of the hallway, yelling spells as three Death Eaters chased after them.
"Potter!" Lucius yelled, pointing up at Harry who grimaced at Sirius's bark of, "Harry what the hell!?"
"We were trying to find Granger!" Karma yelled back, as more Death Eaters filled the room, their numbers fluctuating as Paula froze them and Ness swung his bat.
"You need to get to safety!" Sirius yelled, ducking under a spell as Luna grabbed Harry and dragged him to the exit, only the exit had moved, and everyone was heading in a different direction to escape.
"But Hermione-," Harry argued when Lucius fired a jinx at him, forcing himself to abruptly yell, "Protego!" to avoid getting hit.
"Go!" Sirius ordered as Luna yanked him into the hallway, leading into a different room with towering bookshelves filled with shivering books.
"Come on, we need to regroup!" Luna murmured as the books flew out of their shelves and began flying around the room. "R-right!" Harry agreed, ducking under a swooping book as someone behind them yell, "Stupidfy!"
Narrowly hitting Luna as they ran through the room, ducking under diving books and flying hexes as they entered a room filled with fish tanks filled with black liquid and dim lighting.
"You can't hide Potter." their purser crooned, "I may have orders to let you live, but your girlfriend doesn't."
Luna's face flushed with annoyance but she didn't dare say anything as they hurried to the exit, not trusting the black liquid to be safe enough to hide behind as they entered a third room with floating stone steps that lead down into another room.
"This is ridiculous." Harry exclaimed, swallowing his fear and jumping down as Luna hesitantly followed him. "Found you!" their purser crowded. Startling Luna into jumping a bit too far and yelling, "Harry!" as Harry spun around, ready to deflect whatever spell their purser—a woman with wild black hair- would throw at them when Luna crashed into him.
Knocking them both off of the floating stairs with twin screams of fear before a step lazily floated forward and caught them.
Pain shot up Harry's back as he tried to swallow a scream and adjust himself to Luna could grab onto the step. "Are you all right?" Luna asked, her voice thin and shaky as she scrambled onto the step and grabbed Harry before he could slip off.
"Not. Really." He managed between gritted teeth. Slowly rolling onto his stomach as the woman gave a shrill laugh above them.
Her voice bouncing around the room as Luna glared up at her and muttered, "What a Blood Seeker." Before pointing her wand where they had last seen the woman and casting a spell under her breath. The woman's laughter increasing into a hysterical bout but sounding panicked as she cursed, "Y-you stupid girl!"
"Can you move?" Luna asked, lowering her wand and looking at Harry who rubbed his back and hissed, "Y-yea,"
Luna grimaced but didn't point out Harry's obvious lie, she instead said, "Just a few more steps, then we're out of this room."
"R-right." Harry grit his teeth and followed Luna, hating how slowly they were moving as the woman's horrible laughter rang in their ears, only punctuated by sharp curses and body racking coughs.
"What did you do to her?" Harry asked once they were on solid ground and hurrying out of the room, "One of my mom's homemade spells." Luna hummed, "A laughing curse aimed to knock someone out in a fairly painful manner."
"…Ah," Harry managed because really, how else could you reply to that? The next room they entered was a slanted hallway with random red stained balls dropping from the sky and rolling down the slanted floor and through a shivering wall of black fabric.
"Don't touch it…" Luna warned, looking pensive as they hurried through the room. "What's behind the curtain?" Harry asked, hearing faint whispers and giggles coming from behind it as Luna shook her head, "It's not for us to know."
But who is supposed to know then? "The Unspeakables." Harry reasoned, opening the door and flinching at the sight of an ongoing battle in the room with the mirror and fishtank of brains.
It seemed like everyone except Hermione and Ron were here, fighting or trying to take cover as spells flew through the air and bursts of cold snaked its way through the room.
"We need to keep moving," Luna urged, looking uneasy at the thought of entering the minefield as Sirius battled Marcus with a wild grin on his face, "Is that the best you can do?" he taunted, backing up towards the mirror and—
No, NO!
"Crucio!" Marcus bellowed. His aim true as he hit Sirius and the man started to jerk back, time slowing down to a crawl as his eyes widening with pain and frustration as he fell towards the mirror.
"Sirius!" Harry yelled, rushing out into the open and pointing his wand to yell, "Flippendo!" when the small voice in his head whispered that it was too late.
A series of yells exploded around the room as Sirius realized what was going on, that he was about to die and glanced at Harry. His shock morphing into regret as Harry forced the first part of the spell out of his mouth and pointed his wand at Sirius's back.
Vaguely aware of something bright and red flying towards him as he heard Ness yell his name.
"I won't let you die Sirius, I won't!" Harry mentally screamed, his mouth finally yelling the spell as Sirius's head brushed the fabric as someone began to laugh.
"Someone save him!" Harry pleaded. Flinching as he felt a powerful presence fill the room and—
Stop
Harry blinked—or tried to blink but he couldn't move, he couldn't breath. He was just…there looking at Sirius who had stopped moving, his expression frozen as the presence drew closer, filling his mind and the room with joy and swirling colors as he heard—felt? Something say,
Hello, Nephew.
Harry barely had time to process that before he was moving, floating into the air as some invisible rope tied around his waist—no, engulfed him and arranged him like a doll.
Pulling Sirius away from the mirror and rearranging the bright orbs of spells suspended in the air.
"You shouldn't be here." Ness said—breathed, his voice trembling and terrified as the something or someone smiled—how did he knew they smiled? His back was facing the being and they weren't speaking. No, he was speaking but-
Don't be afraid, I am here to help.
Sirius deserves to live and give Harry a proper home. So sayth the Authoress with the power of Deus-Ex-Machina
Also, does the Order of the Phoenix ever explain where Sirius got his replacement wand? I know it's a really small thing to worry about but, Sirius is wanted fugitive who couldn't use magic (Or if he WAS able to I don't remember it happening.) outside of transforming into a dog since it doesn't need a wand. A point that the reader was heavily reminded of whenever Sirius got some time to shine. So...where did he get a wand to fight people with?
I'm only asking because I was going to write this fluff chapter with Harry's P.O.V with the quest being to buy Sirius a new wand, when I remembered Sirius having a wand for this fight and for the cannon version of the Battle of the Ministry which should be impossible since Azkaban snap your wands so you can't break out or fight the Dementors, which was why Sirius didn't just 'Accio' Petigrew and kill him in Prisoner of Azkaban.
So...Did Sirius borrow someone's wand when he learned Harry was in danger? Did he steal one from a Death Eater mid-fight? Or did someone just buy a wand from someone who wasn't Ollivander or a supplier of the Order who didn't/wouldn't treat wands as the 'extension of your will' or whatever for him after Christmas?
Poking holes in stories is fun until you realize you have no way to answer the holes you made :/
