Gunslinger
Sabine was racing her way to the New Republic capital. She was fuming. Not only had Ezra left her ,AGAIN, he had taken steps to make sure that she was nowhere near when he was arrested. She understood why he did what he did. Ezra wanted to protect her and keep her out of harm's way. She already knew that the children were safe on Krownest. Her console started beeping and she pulled back on the hyperdrive throttle. She came out of hyperspace at Chandrila.
"Ezra, if you can hear me, I'm here for you." She spoke aloud, hoping Ezra could hear her.
"Ok, Bine. I am in the detention block, cell a13. If I am not there, I am on a lower level." Ezra returned as his voice rang in her head.
"Why would you be there?"
"Don't worry about it. I will most likely be here. However, I don't want you to come here immediately. Go to the temple, find Skywalker. He will help you."
"Are you sure we can trust him?"
"Definitely."
"Okay, I will be there soon my love."
"See you then." Ezra shut down the mental connection and Sabine was left to herself. She transmitted the clearance codes Hera had sent her and she flew down to the city below.
"This place is beautiful." She thought out loud. The large temple came into view. She had only seen a few temples from when Ezra had taken her around to see them with the children. Since the temple on Lothal was gone, they had taken a trip to Yavin-4. Sabine had no idea that there had been a temple there. She knew that Luke had been there for something, but she never cared to know what. Apparently, there was a whole temple that Luke had used for training the new children to become Jedi. Luke and Mara had shown them around and introduced some of the students. After all was said and done, Luke asked if they wanted the twins to come learn there. Sabine politely declined. She wanted Ezra to train them the way he saw fit.
Sabine was brought out of her memory by a familiar voice.
"Sabine Wren, it has been a while." A female voice she knew came over the com.
"Yes, Mara, it has. I was hoping to speak with Luke."
"He knows, he has been told to expect you at our home. Please take your fighter to these coordinates, and we will meet you there."
"Alright, see you there." She switched off the coms and flew to a large glass building. She landed the fighter on the landing pad outside the main living area. The door opened to reveal a very pregnant Mara Jade.
"Welcome Sabine." Mara outstretched her arms to give the petite girl a hug. Sabine hesitated but eventually reciprocated.
"Its nice to see you Mara. I see you and Luke have gotten busy." She giggled, gesturing to Mara's oversized mid-section.
"Yes, we have." Mara beamed with pride. "He is due any day now." She rubbed her swollen belly to quiet the child down.
"I hope that we will be able to see him one day." Sabine frowned. She had missed her friend and wanted to meet her baby.
"I was thinking. After getting Ezra out, we might separate from the New Republic as a whole. I think I can convince Luke to do it." Mara smiled.
"Are you sure? You guys have already made a foot hold here. I wouldn't want you to leave it for us."
"It wouldn't be just for you. Luke said that Mothma threatened him to arrest Ezra. She said if he didn't follow her orders then she would remove the temple from Chandrila." Mara sighed and rested her hands on her stomach. "I don't feel safe raising my son here. Not when we are being threatened and extorted."
"Well, I'm sure Ezra would want to help all he can with this issue." Sabine offered her a hand to hold.
"What issue?" Luke said as he walked in the room.
"I was telling Sabine of my plan to leave with them once you get Ezra out." Mara grinned.
"I am still mulling that one over, dear. We shall see how things go today, before I make a decision." Luke sat down next to his wife.
Sabine stood up and went back to her fighter. Going up the ramp and reaching inside the cockpit, she pulled out her small lightsaber hilt and went back inside. "How are we gonna get him out?"
"Well, I was hoping you had a plan." Luke grinned.
"I do. I just wanted to hear you say it." She laughed back at him. "You need to go in and get the guards distracted. Say you need to speak to him or something. Meanwhile, I will be in the vents and maintenance shafts, making my way there."
"Sounds like a good idea, but how do we get him out."
"Easy, we blast our way out."
The Detention Cells
Ezra sat in his healing trance after another round of torture. They still wanted to know where Sabine was, but now they wanted him to force Mandalore into the New Republic. He had told them it was impossible, and that was obviously not the answer the guards wanted. As he laid in his bed, he could hear all the conversations around him. Prisoners from the Empire speaking of 'Rebel scum'. Pirates complaining about their current predicament. However, he could hear one person that stuck out the most. She was breathing hard and trying to be quiet.
"Sabine?" He asked through their connection, so he said nothing.
"We are here love. Luke is distracting the officers with protocol and treatment rules." She answered, also not speaking aloud.
"Yea, those torture sessions are not fun." Ezra chuckled to himself. The door of his cell slid open and a figure loomed over him. But instead of it being the petite Mandalorian he loved, it was a guard with a blaster rifle.
"Come on Bridger, time for interrogation."
"Am I actually gonna be asked questions this time?" Ezra asked, he shut down his connection with Sabine so she would not feel his pain. The two walked down to the interrogation room and the droid hovered around him. After ten minutes of what the guards dubbed 'shock therapy', he heard a knock that sounded familiar.
"Oh you guys are in trouble now."
"Why is that, Sith."
"The Gunslinger outside wants inside. And knowing her, it won't take long." Ezra grinned as he heard a small beeping at the base of the door.
"What the-"
BOOM!
The door was blown to pieces and a young woman in colorful Mandalorian armor stood in the doorway. Ezra was beyond ecstatic to see his wife had come for him. "You have no idea how long I've waited for that one."
"Too long, my love. What have they done to you?" She helped him down and held him up to the mirror over the wash basin. He was pale, a little thin in the face and with bags under his eyes.
"Depends on the day. Some were actual questioning days. Others were just shock days." Ezra tried to smile.
"I'm gonna kill her."
"No, we need to leave. Where is Skywalker?"
"The plan was to get me in, we had nothing about getting out."
"Hell of a plan, love."
"Shut up." She leaned in and kissed him roughly on the lips. When she broke away, she pulled the black and gray hilt off of her belt. "Here, you are better with it than me."
Ezra slowly shook his head. "No, I have been using my energy to repair my body. Its up to you."
"Alright, let's go"
I know some of you don't really like the whole kidnapping and Ezra leaving thing, but it all has or had a purpose. This will be the last time that Ezra leaves, I promise that one. I want to focus more on family and training now, so I will send them back to Krownest soon. Just bear with me till this arc is over, it wont take much longer.
