A/N: there perhaps should have been another filler chapter before we arrived here but what can I say I've been dying to write this chapter for a while now so I'm just gonna go for it.
2 Months Later (still no cure for Klaus)
3rd Person POV:
For the past 2 months, Matt had gone back to working at the Grill, not having Vee supporting him anymore he needed cash. It was nice of Tyler and his mom to allow him to stay with them and he could always stay with Rebekah if he needed to but he didn't feel comfortable asking either of them for money for food or clothes, or anything for school.
He was in the middle of a shift when Elena comes running into the Grill.
"Whoa, what's going on?" he asks
"What's going on?! Why aren't you answering your phone?!"
Matt reels his head back not expecting her to come at him, "it's in my locker, I'm working."
Elena does not look impressed, "well come on, we need you," she tells him expecting him to follow
"Again, Elena, I'm at work,"
"It's Vee she's in labor!"
This shocks Matt, "but she's not due for another month,"
"Exactly, she's refusing to go to the hospital saying it isn't time yet, you need to go convince her,"
"Why do you think she'd listen to me?"
Elena throws her hands up, "because you're her brother!"
"No, I'm not," Matt says through a clenched jaw
"So what about me and Jeremy, I'm adopted does that mean he's not my brother," Elena asks.
Matt rolls his eyes, "Of course not, that's different you grew up together, I've only known Vee for 2 years"
"And in those 2 years she has taken better care of you than anyone ever has, she has loved you as a brother, that has to mean something."
Matt looks down not knowing what to say to that,
"Look if you can't do it for her do it for the baby, you know she needs to go to the hospital, how are you gonna feel if something happens and you didn't even try?"
Matt takes off his apron knowing Elena is right,
He walks across the street and into Lavender's bakery...
He sees Damon and Enzo trying to reason with her and Caroline shuffling out any remaining customers.
"You need to go to the hospital!" Damon shouts at Vee
"It's not time yet, okay, these are just Braxton Hicks or something," Vee says clutching her stomach clearly in pain.
Damon pulls out his phone, "according to this Braxton Hicks are irregular and don't get stronger over time,"
"Thank you, Dr. Google," Vee mutters
Matt steps in front of Damon, "it's okay I got it,"
"Well look who decided to show up,"
"Vee," Matt tries to get her attention
She sighs in relief as the pain passes, "see it stopped everything's fine,"
Damon looks at the clock, "yeah until 4 minutes from now when you'll get another one."
"I said I got it!" Matt tells him with more strength causing Damon to take a step back,
"by all means, Mr. quarterback lets see that new backbone in action," and he motions for Matt to continue on.
"Vee, look I know you're scared but we need to get you to the hospital," Matt tells her gently.
"Why are you even here, you can't stand the sight of me,"
Matt sighs sadly, feeling bad about how he's hurt her,
"Because I care about you and that baby and I don't want anything to happen to either of you,"
Vee shakes her head, "No, I'm not your sister. You don't care about me... not anymore."
"Yes, I do,"
"No, okay. Don't lie to me you hate me, your struggling just to be in the same room as me right now, you think I can't see that?!"
"its not because I don't care,"
"then why?"
"Because I love you more!" Matt explodes finally getting Vee's full attention.
"Jeremy was right, you and Vick are nothing alike, and I didn't miss her because I had you. I had someone who for the first time in my life made me feel loved and cared for. I can't stand looking at you because every time I do I'm reminded of the fact that your not my real sister and I wish you were because... because I love you more, and that makes me feel like a piece of shit, but that's my problem, not yours. So please let me get you to the hospital."
"I'm scared," Vee admits
Matt moves closer to her, "I know,"
"Elijah's not here,"
"I know," he kindly tells her again.
Tears start streaming down her face as she takes in a deep breath and admits, "I want my mom,"
"Hey, look at me," Matt grabs her face gently in both his hands, "your the mom now, and your son needs you."
She takes a shaky breath, "I'm the mom now,"
Matt nods
She wipes the tears from her eyes, "I'm the mommy now,"
Matt gently smiles, "yeah you are, so we're gonna go to the hospital okay?"
Vee nods, "okay."
Matt looks back to the rest of the group, "who has a car here?"
Just then Vee's water breaks and Enzo gleefully steps forward, "you can use mine, mate," he says throwing the keys to Matt as Damon scowls.
At the Hospital
Rebekah has met Matt and Vee there and walks into her room,
"Man every time I feel like I've finally acclimated to this time I get thrown a curveball, everything out there looks like it's from another planet," She says closing the door behind her,
"Hey, it's okay, you'll get used to it, it just takes time," Matt tells her.
Right then an epiphany hits Vee,
"He's here," she says quietly to herself as she processes what she's just realized.
"Who's here?" Rebekah asks having heard her.
"Elijah, he's here," she tells them with more strength now as she's sure she's right.
"What are you talking about?" Rebekah asks.
"Think about it, you were only in that box for 90 years and still you have trouble adjusting,"
"I wouldn't say I have trouble"
Vee ignores her and keeps talking, "Finn was daggered for 900 years, he was out for what... 2 weeks before he took Elijah? He wouldn't have been able to learn how to drive or rent a truck and stash Elijah anywhere he wanted. No he had to have taken him someplace he knew, someplace that would have existed back then."
Rebekah thinks on it for a moment, "there's nothing like that left,"
"There has to be! I'm right about this, I know I am," Vee pleads getting upset,
"Alright, calm down. I'll look I promise if he's here I'll find him."
Outside
Klaus has been in wolf form listening, he knows exactly where to look.
Klaus POV:
If she was right I knew where he was, the only place from our human days that still existed were the caves we used to take shelter in whenever we hid from the werewolves.
The memory of me and Henrik comes flooding back but I don't have time for guilt right now, there is one brother I can still save.
Arriving where I knew them to be, I ran around but saw no sign of access so I got to work digging.
I was about tail deep when the ground below me caved in.
After recovering from my rough landing I set off in search of Elijah, if he was here I was damn sure going to find him.
Turning another corner I came across a drop-off, I tried to peer into the abyss but it was too dark. I would have to jump in blindly.
*whack...*thump...*thud*
What the fuck did I just fall on?
I get up and am able to just make out the form of a fallen coffin I managed to knock over mid-fall.
She was right, he's here.
3rd Person POV:
Rebekah had been driving around trying to think of locations that might have seemed familiar to Finn when a wolf darts in front of her car, she swerves and just misses him.
"Klaus?" She asks and realizes where Finn might have stashed him.
She gets back on the road and races over to the Lockwood Property.
Getting out of the car she sees where the ground as fallen into the caves below.
She drops in and starts exploring the tunnels eventually coming up against a barrier,
"What the hell?"
Klaus is back and runs up behind her dropping a possum and 2 rabbits down by her feet before jumping through the barrier keeping out any vampires.
With his strong teeth, Klaus grabs Elijah by one of his ankles and drags him over to Rebekah,
He tries to jump out of the hole with Elijah but he's too heavy, he keeps trying knowing Rebekah won't be able to get through the barrier and he can't take the dagger out or Elijah might be trapped there.
Finally, he is able to jump with Elijah's now mangled leg enough for Rebekah to grab onto his shoe. She pulls Elijah far enough beyond the barrier to grab onto his calf and leverage his body out of the hole.
Klaus jumps up out after them as Rebekah is by Elijah and is taking out the dagger trying to shove a dead animal in his mouth so the blood can revive him.
She finishes squeezing the third animal and finally, Elijah's arm shoots up and rips the carcass away from him.
His eyes open and he stiffly sits up.
"Lavender," he manages to croak his throat still dry,
"She's alright," Rebekah tells him, "She's in labor though, and it's a month early."
Elijah stands and tries to race off but Rebekah stops him, "she's in the hospital you need to feed more than what Klaus managed to snare for you,"
Elijah looks down to the wolf and gives Rebekah a confused stare, "It's a long story," she tells him,
"I'll find someone on the way I need to get to her,"
"Then take my car," she says giving him the keys.
Elijah POV:
My torment has ended but it seems Lavender's has just begun, I need to get to her.
I stop the first person I see and start draining them, I almost kill them but I manage to pull away in time, I don't want my son's birth in any way marred by an unnecessary kill.
After compelling them on their way I find 2 more blood donors and quickly get back in the car.
It's not long before I arrive in front of the hospital, I am covered in dirt blood, and dust but it doesn't matter the only thing I care about now is getting to Lavender and my son.
Once I've arrived at the hospital I bump into Ms. Gilbert,
"Elijah! You're back,"
"Where is she?" I ask skipping over any pleasantries
"Oh um, she's in room 304"
I quickly make my way over to the stairwell and zoom up to the 3rd floor
As I approach her room I can hear the conversation she is having with the nurse and I am tempted to go in there and rip her throat out.
"You need to get back in bed,"
"No, giving birth in a reclined position leads to an increase chance of tearing plus it puts added pressure on your tail bone which can fracture,"
"Congratulations you've read a book, I still need you to get in that bed,"
"Excuse me," I say walking in announcing myself
The nurse turns to look at me unimpressed with my appearance.
I zoom in front of her, causing her eyes to bulge, but I quickly compel her...
"You will disregard anything strange you witness and you will treat that woman behind you with the respect due a Queen because that's what she is."
The nurse swallows thickly before quickly turning around,
"Your majesty, I am terribly sorry, of course, if you wish to deliver in a standing or squatting position we will make the necessary adjustments, is there anything I can do for you?"
Lavender has not taken her eyes off me since I've walked in,
"A moment alone with the gentleman, please."
The nurse bows, "of course, I'll stay stationed out by the door to ensure you're not disturbed."
She leaves and we are alone together, I fully take in the sight of her.
She's so beautiful.
"Are you really here?" She timidly asks, scared I might be a mirage.
"Care to see for yourself?" I ask and hold out my hand to her.
Slowly she brings her own hand forward to reach out to mine, as soon as she sees I am solid and not a figment of her imagination, she exhales and launches herself at me.
I stumbled back slightly falling onto the bed as she has climbed into my lap and is attacking my mouth.
Dear God, I've missed the taste of her.
She finally comes up for air,
"I'm tempted to have you right now but I sort of have someone coming the other way," she tells me a little embarrassed,
I smile, "It's alright I can wait, apparently, he couldn't"
Her face falls,
"What if something is wrong?"
I take her face in my hands, "I am staying right here, I won't let anything happen to him."
She gives me another kiss, this one more sweet and tender, "I'm so glad you didn't miss this."
"As am I," I tell her earnestly.
I watch her face crumble in pain as a contraction hits her,
Knowing she's in pain and there's no one I can kill to make it better is extremely frustrating.
"I'm right here," is all I can offer her,
But it seems it's enough as she grabs my hand.
3rd Person POV:
Lavender has labored now for 14 hours and it is time to push.
She has her arms around Elijah's neck as the rest of her body gently stands on the ground, beneath her a doctor is sat on a stool guiding the baby out.
"One more big push," he instructs as Vee bears down into a squat,
"annnd here he is,"
"Is he okay," Vee asks
*ahhhhhhgghahhhhhggah*
The baby lets out a loud cry, causing Vee to relax somewhat,
"Those sound like healthy lungs to me," the doctor comments
Elijah leads Vee over to the bed so she can finally rest.
They quickly bring over the child and place him upon her chest.
"Congratulations Ma'am," the nurse says with deference
Vee takes in the sight of her beautiful boy,
"Welcome to the world, my little Prince."
