Sonic had been running around town, when something had caught Sonic's eye. Curious, the hedgehog dashed towards the sight that had caught his eye.
At the park, there seemed to be a Sonic and Silver Appreciation Day. Fans of the two famous hedgehogs wore their hair in either Sonic or Silver quill styles. Kids ran on races for fun. Why, Sonic and Silver had become so popular, and they didn't know this, but Sonic had seemed to inspire people to take naps in trees!
Someone did a rock art of Sonic and Silver. Others were selling stickers. One man was carving statues of Sonic and Silver.
Sonic had dashed to the park to see what was going on, when he had stopped short.
An elderly woman who had started a painting on the two hedgehogs had spotted Sonic. "Look, everybody!" She said.
"Oh, wow, Sonic's here!" A boy wearing a Sonic hair style said in excitement.
"Where's Silver?!" The crowd asked excitedly, and soon everyone started talking excitedly about Sonic. Soon, they started chasing the hedgehog, and Sonic yelped and ran off.
...
Mr. Thorndyke sat in his office chair, working the day away.
"Good morning, Mr. Thorndyke." One of his co workers said in agreement.
"Good morning, Suzy." Mr. Thorndyke answered.
"Those documents I mentioned are ready for you if you have the time." Suzy said.
"Ah," Mr. Thorndyke smiled. "Just leave them here, please."
"Yes, sir," Suzy said, and with a snap of her fingers, five people carrying huge stacks of documents walked in and placed the documents on the desk.
Mr. Thorndyke looked shocked at the giant pile. "Hey, what is all this stuff, Suzy?!" He asked. The agents left, and Suzy walked right up to him. "Apparently, our home appliance vision has been absolutely flooded with customer complaint forms." She explained.
"Are you kidding me?!" Mr. Thorndyke looked at her in shock. "This can't be! Why, we've hardly received any complaints about our products before! How could this have happened now?!"
"I think you'd better watch this." Suzy said, and she turned the news on.
"Sonic's popularity seems to be affecting people throughout the city in all sorts of amazing ways. From groups of children playing games of Catch the Hedgehog to adults sleeping on rooftops like their hero, Sonic's fame seems to be really reaching astonishing proportions. In fact, a large number of citizens are leaving their jobs in order to follow their idol. From Station Square Park, I'm Scarlet Garcia, SSTV news."
Mr. Thorndyke burst out laughing. "I knew Sonic was famous, but that's ridiculous!" He continued laughing. He paused. "But what does that have to do with all these complaints, Suzy?"
"As you know, many of our employees are wild about Sonic and Silver, too."
"Mm-hmm."
"Some of them have left the company and started Sonic fan clubs and most of the assembly line workers spend so much time talking about Sonic that their work has become shoddy. And now our customers are complaining like crazy!"
Mr. Thorndyke screamed, clutching his head. This was too much!
"If this keeps up, we might have to go out of business." Suzy said.
"I'm not losing Thorndyke Industries over some silly hedgehogs!" Mr. Thorndyke swore.
His phone rang.
"What is it?!" He panicked. "What's the matter, Ella?!"
"I just thought you should know that I kept Penny home from school today because she has a snuffling in her nose."
"Dad, I just have a small cold!" Penny said. "I'm totally fine! Honest! No fever at all!" The young girl was all wrapped up in her turquoise-blue blanket, trying to get Ella to put the phone down. But no avail.
"I'm giving her plenty of orange juice and she'd have a nice bowl of homemade chicken soup for lunch!" Ella continued, ignoring Penny's protests. "If she'd get some rest, I'm sure she'd be better in a day or so."
"But what if she gets worse?!" Mr. Thorndyke started pacing. "I'm leaving the office right now. Just tell Penny to sit tight." He put the phone down and looked at Suzy. "Suzy? Get my helicopter ready intermediately!"
"What's wrong, Mr. Thorndyke?" Suzy asked worriedly.
"My daughter may be gravely ill, I've got to get home right away before it's too late!" He dashed towards the door, and turned back towards Suzy. "Suzy, get Eddie from Home Appliances and tell him I want these complaints taken care of by the end of the day!"
...
Meanwhile, Mrs. Thorndyke was doing a movie scene when Mr. Thorndyke's helicopter drove near. Her cell phone rang, and Lindsey picked it up. "I hope this is important," Lindsey said. "I'm in the middle of a scene!"
"I'm sorry, Lindsey. But we've got an emergency!"
"Emergency?!" Lindsey gasped. Mr. Thorndyke tossed her a rope ladder, and took a high leap and grabbed the rope.
"Hey!" Her director protested. "What about me?!"
They watched as Mr. And Mrs. Thorndyke flew off.
...
At Eggman's prison...
"Hurry, hurry..." Eggman muttered hastily as he worked as fast as he could on his ticket out of here. In his cell, Eggman had been doing something strange... repairing old TVs, washing machines, and other appliances. Bocoe tried to cram the last one in the truck, but no avail. Bocoe ran back to the doctor. He hopped on the table in front of the excited doctor. "Can we slow down, doctor?! I cannot keep up!" The robot yelped as Dr. Eggman started using the screw driver on him.
"Whoa! Watch it! That tickles!" Bocoe yelped. "But I do not need to be fixed!"
"Decoe!" Bocoe yelped as Decoe came in. "Aren't you getting a little carried away, doctor?! He is a robot, not a refrigerator!"
"You think this is all a joke, eh?!" Eggman asked. "Well, do you see this?!" He asked, pointing to the technology around him. "You know who's to blame for these heap of lemons here?" He pulled out a newspaper. "Those perky little pests Sonic and Silver the Hedgehogs! That's who! It's because of them that every factory is spending less time on their jobs and more time lollygagging and dilly dallying! That means I fritter away my genius slaving away in a prison sweat dropping fixing all their blenders! And I have those horrible heinous hedgehogs to thank for it!"
"But it is all Sonic and Silver's fault, then why do we have to do all the dirty work?!" Decoe asked.
"Dirty work is right." Bocoe said. "I almost got flatten by a fallen fridge!"
Decoe nodded.
"Don't you worry." Eggman sneered. "For I have developed an exceptionally excellent plan to get revenge!"
"I hate it when he does that egg egg." Decoe muttered.
"Me too." Bocoe said in agreement.
Eggman laughed and placed a hand on both robot's shoulders. "Now, pay attention." He said. "And I'll show you my greatest stroke of genius yet!" The doctor showed the robots some type of circuit on his hand.
"What is it?" Both robots asked.
"Oh, it's the end of Sonic and Silver the Hedgehogs." Eggman smirked.
...
Ella smiled as she walked in with a plate of snacks for Tails, Cream, Cheese, Amy, Silver, Hiro, Cloud, Emerl, Vanilla, and Chuck.
"Well, how's our little patient feeling, Ella?" Chuck asked Ella.
"Right now she's taking a nice long nap. I'm sure the rest would do her lots of good." Ella said, placing the plate of treats down.
"Wonderful." Chuck said.
"Good news, Ella." Mr. Tanaka said as he walked in. In his arms was a new vacuum. "Your new vacuum cleaner just came back from the repair shop."
"Welcome home, my little amigo!" Ella said, clasping her hands and looking lovingly at the vacuum. "I hate to say it, but Mr. Thorndyke's company doesn't make the good products the way we used to. They're always breaking."
"Please forgive me, Ella." Chuck said apologetically from the couch. "I would've fixed it for you myself, but lately I've been spending all of my spare time trying to figure out what's wrong with Ermel."
"Oh, sure." Ella said lovingly at Chuck. "I understand, Mr. Thorndyke."
"Is Emerl feeling sick like Penny?" Cream asked, looking at the robot she and Penny found the other day with worry.
"Chao!" Cheese chaoed worriedly.
"Yes." Chuck said. "When I examined him yesterday, I found that all of his program data had been erased somehow."
"Poor Emerl." Amy said, looking at the robot.
"Maybe I can take care of Emerl like Ella takes care of Penny and Chris!" She said.
"Chao chao!" Cheese chaoed in agreement.
"That's very thoughtful of you, Cream." Vanilla said.
That's when a helicopter from up ahead stopped the conversations. They ran towards Penny's room and sweat dropped to see Lindsey and Nelson waving to their daughter out the window.
"Why are Mom and Dad here?!" Penny asked, sweat dropping.
"How are you feeling, kiddo?" Nelson asked his daughter. "I heard you were sick, so I rushed right home..." He was interrupted when Lindsey pushed him away. "I'm here, my baby." Lindsey grasped Penny in a tight hug, and Penny felt her face heat up when her parents kissed her tenderly.
"Don't you think you're overreacting?" Chuck asked. "It's just a common cold. Everyone gets them."
"Yes, I know." Nelson said. "But when I heard I just couldn't keep my mind on my work."
"Same here." Lindsey said.
"NO, SON! YOU'RE IMPOSSIBLE!" Chuck yelled. "Don't you see?! What kind of example are you giving your daughter?! Abandoning your workplace just because of a harmless little cold?!"
"But, dad, I just wanted to..."
"Don't you but dad me, Mr. Big-shot goof off! How irresponsible can you get?!"
Nelson completely lost it. "Now listen here, if I want to take a day off to visit my daughter when she's got a disease there's nobody's business but mine!"
"If I were you, I couldn't afford to take time off!" Chuck yelled angrily. "Not when every product you make rolls off the assembly line straight into the jump-shop!"
"I'll have you know the real reason to those bad appliances is your friends Sonic and Silver!"
"How dare you put the blame on Sonic?! Especially Silver when he's right here?! Can't you take responsibility for your own common..."
"EVERYBODY STOP YELLING! PLEASE!" Penny yelled, and her mom and dad turned to her. Silver glanced worriedly at his human friend.
"Darling..." Mom whispered.
"Sorry about that, Penny. I guess we got kinda carried away there." Dad told her.
"Is this what you came home for?" Penny shot them hurt looks. "To argue?! Seriously, guys. Don't you know Silver's right in front of you?! If you care about either me or Chris, you have a funny way of showing it!"
Silver looked at Penny, surprised to hear her stand up for him.
"Sorry..." Chuck said.
...
While they were arguing, Ella's new vacuum cleaner made its way to other technology, placing the strange little circuits that Eggman had shown his bots before on all the technology in the house.
...
After leaving Penny alone, Ella tried calming Chuck and Nelson down. "Penny didn't mean what she said." She said. "It's just a reaction to the antibiotics!" She clasped her hands together. "I just had the most wonderful idea!" She said. "I'll make her favorite pumpkin pie! One big bite of that and she'll be smiling from ear to ear!"
"How marvelous!" Lindsey said. "A pie! Let's all pitch in and make it together!"
...
Soon, they were all in the kitchen to make Penny's pumpkin pie. However, the only ones who weren't excited to make it were Chuck and Nelson.
"Let's!" Lindsey said. "It looks like we got everything we need! Everything except the pumpkin." She headed up to the fridge to retrieve the pumpkin, but it was sealed tight. "It won't budge!" She said.
"That's strange..." Ella said, and she and Lindsey pulled on it together.
Tails, Hiro, Cloud, Cream, Silver, and Amy watched in shock as the beater rose in the air and started going haywire. Even when it was unplugged!
"Watch out!" Nelson yelled, and pushed Ella and Lindsey out of the way. The beater dove right through the fridge.
"I can't believe what I'm seeing!" Chuck said, completely shocked. The beater dove for its next attack...
... but Sonic and Silver zoomed right to the rescue, smashing the technology to bits.
"All right!" Sonic said. "Now that's what I call mixing it up!" He joked. "I just beat the beater!" The fridge opened, and Amy took this one, beating the cans away.
"Nice work, Amy." Silver said, and she gave him a thumbs up.
The fridge came to life, and Amy smacked the fridge away with her hammer, yelling, "FREAKY FREEZER!"
Hearing a familiar panicked scream, everyone looked to the ceiling.
...
Penny backed as far away as she could from the strange creature. She shrieked as the robot was about to launch a blow...
... when someone spun to her rescue, smashing the bot into bits. Penny's heart pounded as she watched her savior smash away the machine.
"Thanks, Sonic!" She gasped, shuddering.
Sonic had darted into the girl's bedroom, stunned to see that her room was thrashed.
"PENNY!" Sonic yelled.
The girl looked up to see Sonic running up to her. Penny looked at Sonic, curiosity on her face. If Sonic wasn't the one who saved her, then who...? Her gaze drifted to Emerl, who was now standing in front of the girl.
"How did you learn to do that?" Penny asked the robot, kneeling down in front of it. The thirteen year old looked at Emerl curiously.
"Do what, Penny?" Sonic asked her, checking her for any injuries.
"Emerl spun in circles like you do when you go real fast, Sonic." Penny said, glancing up at him.
"You're kidding me!" Sonic looked stunned.
However, the robot that Emerl destroyed got back up on its feet. Penny yelped in panic, but Sonic was ready. And so was Ermel. The two spun-attacked the robot destroyed it.
"Wow, you got them!" Penny said, surprised. However, when they thought they were over, the weren't. More machines with angry eyes marched in, and Penny gulped as she backed up against a corner with Sonic and Emerl standing in front of her. With one smash from Sonic and Ermel, the robots exploded, an that caused the emergency sprinklers. Emerl, Penny and Sonic watched as the machines exploded right in front of them.
"PENNY!"
Hearing someone call her name, the girl looked up to see Lindsey and Nelson running in, followed by Silver, Cloud, and Hiro, and everyone else.
"Are you all right, Darling?" Lindsey asked, her voice in panic.
"Sure, Momma. The water stopped them." The girl said, smiling up at her mother.
"Those sprinklers came on just in time." Chuck said. "But I have a bad feeling that we haven't seen the last of these monsters."
"Chuck's right." Cloud said, frowning. "For all we know, there could be another whole army of these bad boys out there. "
"Eggman must be behind this!" Sonic growled.
"If we don't act fast, this city could be headed for a catastrophe!" Chuck said seriously.
"But now that we know water can short circuit, then maybe we can stop them!" Penny said.
"That's right!" Lindsey gasped.
That's when the water shut off. Everyone gasped. "They've done it!" Nelson said. "They shut off the water supply!"
"That's my cue, kids. Gotta run. Silver, Cloud, Hiro, you're with me!" Sonic ordered, and he took a run for the broken window with Silver, Cloud and Hiro close behind him.
"Sonic!" Penny cried, reaching for her friend.
"I'm going to." Nelson suddenly announced, clenching his fists.
"What?!" Lindsey gasped, stunned.
Nelson looked serious. "My company distributes every drop of water in the city." He explained. "Customer service is what Thorndyke Industries is all about." He looked down glumly. "I won't let my customers down any longer."
"I'm proud of you, Nelson." Chuck said. He turned to Tails, Blaze, and Amy. "Fire up the X Tornado and take my son wherever he wants to go." He ordered.
"Roger!" The three Mobians exclaimed, and they dashed out the door, with Nelson close behind.
"Mom," Penny began. "Can I..."
"No, dear." Lindsey said. She put both hands on her daughter's shoulders. "I can't let you go with them!"
"But, momma!" Penny complained. She desperately wanted to help Sonic defeat these bots. She glumly looked down at her right wrist which held Shadow's bracelet.
"You stay in bed." Lindsey said. "Now let's get you out of those wet pajamas." She nodded her head to Penny's wet light-pink nightgown. Penny's head slumped in disappointment. "Ella, how about some hot chocolate?" Lindsey suggested to the maid.
"Coming up!" Ella called from below.
...
A jail guard walked down the aisle, pausing ever so often to look into Dr. Eggman's cell. Turns out, to his relief, the three prisoners were sleeping. The guard looked away and walked out.
However, they weren't sleeping. They were playing a game of Poker, using nails instead of coins.
"I won! I won!" Decoe exclaimed happily as he grabbed the nails in front of a furious doctor. "I can't believe I crushed you, doctor!"
The doctor grumbled. "If you keep winning, I can imagine crushing you!" He grumbled.
At the right comedical moment, a piece of the wall to their cell broke open and fell right on Decoe's head, knocking him out flat. "Look, Doctor." Bocoe said. "It happened sooner than I thought!"
"How lucky!" Eggman chuckled. He and Bocoe looked up to the hole to see Bokkun laughing cheekily at them. "Come on!" He cheered. "This is the break you've been waiting for!" He moved out of the way, and Eggman's Eggmobile moved up to the three prisoners. The latch attached to the three, and pulled them out of the prison. After they left, the alarm sounded.
"I don't get it." Decoe said as they flew off. "Why didn't we escape sooner?"
"QUIET!" The doctor yelled at them. "My genius is too great for you to understand! Just you wait, Sonic and Silver." He swore. "My appalling appliances aren't through with you!"
He flew off, with Bokkun following close behind.
...
Sonic, Hiro, Cloud, and Silver had darted as fast as they could through the city, smashing the robots and protecting its citizens. Once the four heroes smashed the bots away from the crowd, Sonic raced up to them. "Water stops them," He explained.. "So get some hands on some H2O and let it flow!"
"We knew we could count on you, Sonic! You too, Silver." One of the citizens said.
"So get to 'em, guys!" Hiro encouraged them as he ran off with Sonic and the others. Their next place was the police department. "I've got firefighters in every part of the city and trucks are on the lookout." The officer told the four Mobians."We'll blast those bad boys until they're good and soggy!"
"Thanks, Captain!" Sonic said. Cloud and the others nodded their thanks and darted off. They stopped short when they saw Knuckles fighting his own band of electronics.
"Yo, Knuckles!" Sonic called.
"Well, it's about time!" The echidna said as Sonic fought away a machine. "I'm getting attacked by everything but the kitchen sink!"
Cloud chuckled at the echidna's remark as he punched away a refrigerator.
"Too bad using our fists isn't going to work for long!" Silver noted from a corner.
"Silver's right!" Sonic said. "Water's the thing that really works on them! The firefighters are on the way! You, Hiro, Silver, Cloud, and I will have to do our best to fight with them in the meantime!"
That's when a laugh was heard from above. "Well, Sonic and Silver. I must commend you and your valiant efforts to annihilate my army of attacking appliances. But I'm afraid my menacing machines are still on the march!" Eggman pulled out some type of radar, and soon enough, the robots were back on their feet, surrounding the group of Mobians.
...
In the meantime, firefighters seemed to be having trouble with the water supply. "Somebody wants to cut down the main supply!" An fire fighter announced. "We're losing water pressure by the minute!"
"Get on the horn to the water bureau right away!" His partner ordered.
This looks like it might take some time to get rid of these beasts!
...
The X Tornado landed right outside the Thorndyke Industries. Just like everyone else, they were bombarded by the possessed machines. Amy held up her hammer. "Okay!" She announced. She took a run for the robots and knocked them out. Once they were knocked out, she, Tails, and Mr. Thorndyke raced up the stairs to the room which controlled the water in the city. After a few press of buttons, the machine sprang back to life.
"It looks okay!" Tails said happily.
"Well, the water supply system itself has been restored," Nelson said. "But I'm afraid something must be jamming the main sluice gate, and whatever it is is blocking the flow of water!"
"Is there any way you can fix it?" Amy asked worriedly.
Mr. Nelson looked up. "There's only one way." He said. "But it's not going to be easy."
...
"What's happening, son?" Chuck asked Mr. Thorndyke on the phone.
"Well, I was able to restore the main supply system. But there seems to be something in the way of the sluice gate so the water isn't getting out! We've got to get that gate open, and fast!"
"I'll take care of it." Chuck responded.
Penny and her mom watched as Tanaka and Chuck climbed into the helicopter to get to the sluice gate. Penny hopefully looked at her mother. "Momma, can't I please go? Sonic needs every help he can get!"
"No, Penny!" Lindsey said, putting both hands on her daughter's shoulders.
"Momma, please let me! I feel one hundred percent better! I'll be okay! I promise!" The girl pleaded. She closed her eyes as her mother felt her daughter's forehead. She sighed. "Well, if you really truly want to go, I'll let you. But under one condition. I'm coming along with you. Okay?"
Penny smiled brightly. "Sure it's okay!" She grinned.
...
With the guys, they seemed to be getting more than they bargained for. Knuckles, Sonic, Silver, Cloud, and Hiro punched their way through the crowd of robots.
Eggman chuckled as he watched. "When battling a washing machine, one can't be wishy washy!" He joked. "Why, these modern household convinces suddenly are inconvenient, aren't they, Sonic and Silver?" He burst into laughter. Decoe looked over the doctor's shoulder. "Hey, Bocoe." Decoe called to his friend. "They sure looked worn out, don't they?"
"You can say that again." Bocoe said. "A part of me feels bad for them! But I can always have that part removed I suppose."
Bokkun flew in front of the three. "Whoa! Just look at them! They're really mangle enough machines!"
"Man!" Sonic wheezed. "I'm running out of steam!" He quickly forced himself to punch another approaching appliances.
"We can't keep this up much longer!" Knuckles huffed.
"It's getting pretty warm here!" Hiro called to them from a corner. "I don't think Cloud and I can hold them off any longer!"
"We have to try!" Silver grunted as he kicked away a machine.
...
The Thorndyke helicopter finally made it to the sluice gate. "Listen up." Chuck said when they surrounded the gate. "The main sluice gate has been destroyed for good, which means our only choice is to open up this valve! All right now, everybody get into position."
Penny followed Chuck's orders and gripped the valve, with her mom on her left and her grandfather on her right. Tanaka stood on the other side of the valve, facing her. Penny's face lined with determination. Everyone around her grunted as they tried to move the stubborn the valve. Hearing the sound of the X Tornado, Penny looked up with excitement to see Mr. Nelson, Tails, and Amy flying towards them.
"Here comes Dad!" Penny grinned.
The X Tornado landed right beside Mr. Thorndyke's helicopter, and Nelson, Tails, and Amy hopped out of the Tornado and dashed over to help. Mr. Nelson smiled at his daughter. "What are you doing here, kiddo? Shouldn't you be at home in bed?"
"I had to come and help." Penny smiled at her father. "It's my responsibility!"
Lindsey hummed.
"That's my girl." Nelson grinned at his daughter.
"We've got work to do, darling." Lindsey said from behind Penny.
"Right." Nelson said in agreement. Nelson stood right next to his daughter and everyone started pulling the valve once again. Finally, after a lot of straining, the water soon flooded out. Penny huffed in exhaustion, but she still looked happy that the water was flowing again. She happily hugged her mom. "We did it!" She cheered. Nelson walked up and hugged his family. "Good job, dear," He smiled.
...
Soon, and finally, Sonic, Silver, Knuckles, Cloud, and Hiro were taking a break from using their fists and feet, and hosing their enemies with sprays of water. "Well, I guess that does it!" Sonic said proudly once the last wave of robots was taken down.
"Yeah!" Knuckles said.
"IMPOSSIBLE!" Eggman gasped. "I could've sworn we cut off the water supplies!"
"Someone must've turned it back on, doctor!" Decoe said.
"Looks like your plan is a wash out, doctor!" Bocoe added.
"And just when we were this close to stoping Sonic and Silver once and for all!" Eggman grumbled, pumping his fist in annoyance.
"I thought they were goners!" Bokkun said in annoyance. "But they sure showed us, didn't they?"
"Well, what is the plan?" Decoe asked.
"Yeah, doctor!" Bocoe said curiously. "What do we do now?"
"Onto the next strategy!" Eggman said, and he flew off.
"HEY, WAIT FOR ME, WILL YOU?!" Bokkun yelled as he flew off.
...
"Well, what do we do now?" Chuck asked as he and his family watched the water flow. "We've got a city full of defective dishwashers and mashed-up microwaves!"
Nelson put his hands to his hips and smiled at his daughter. "If I stay on the job, clean up should be a piece of cake." He shot his daughter a wink.
"How about pie?" Penny smirked.
Everyone laughed.
