Today, we find Sarah and her pokemon family, her dragons and Solar in Zeraora's flower field training with Tsukumaro. Sarah managed to block Tsukumaro's sword and pushed back, breathing heavily. "Correct your stance, Princess, you're leaving yourself open." Tsukumaro advised. Sarah panted, trying to focus on the task at hand. Since she obtained two more gems for her sword, her sword training intensified.
But, despite her best efforts in trying to keep up with her training, the pressure being put on her and the strain of pushing herself to her limits was beginning to show. The little princess knew that Lothor and Team Eclipse are still at large and preparing themselves to pounce again at any moment when the next Ultra Pillar would cross over into the Human World so she had to train extra hard to be ready for anything.
It didn't help either that she was forced to reveal her magic to her friends and Ivanka and Melania, inadvertently tipping Lothor off that she knows the Patronus Charm even though he didn't know her godfather and the Swords of Justice taught her it.
While doing her mock battle with her godfather, a majority of her family completed their own training matches and took a break with Terrakion and Virizion to see how Sarah was performing.
"Not bad, the princess is really pushing herself to her limits ever since three of her family's gems were returned to the Sun Sword," observed Terrakion.
"But, she's wearing herself down at the rate she's going," Virizion noted as she watched Sarah starting to falter, sweating heavily. "I've never seen her being so stressed out and lacking concentration despite her devotion."
"The kid's really getting wrecked out there, she's starting to lose her form and she's leaving herself more open than usual," Zorua mentioned worriedly as Zeraora petted her reassuringly. "How are the others doing with your big cheese and Keldy?"
The two Swords of Justice looked towards Keldeo and Cobalion who were both tied up with training the newest and recent members of Sarah's family with Melody, Echo, Twilight, and Dawn along with Houndoom, Latios Mulan, Braviary, and Salamence being personally trained by Cobalion and Keldeo doing rounds with Eevee, Skitty, Latias, and Rapidash, Yamper, and Scorch with Wooloo and Ponyta joining in to help give them a crash course of their training with their new masters while the others watched on.
"Sounds to me like Cobalion and Keldeo have those newbies on the ropes but they're learning fast as the days go by," Terrakion said, looking impressed.
"They have good form and their concentration is on par with Sarah's before she started to lose focus today," added Virizion. "But still, I can't help but wonder if this had something to do with the gems belonging to Giratina and Rayquaza, the ones that were once ordained on the Sun Sword before they were lost with the remaining four."
"You think the kid believes she's got to go faster and work harder since discovering those powerful rocks along with the ones belonging to the big Time and Space guys?" quizzed Zorua. "I'm not sure but I could be wrong, she's sweating like crazy like that crabby guy she told us about from a TV show about a sponge living in a pineapple under the sea that one time."
"Zera..." nodded Zeraora, noticing how exhausted and sweating Sarah was becoming during her training battle with her godfather.
As for Solar, Winter and Shadow had to put him through his paces with his running to help him be faster and maneuverable as a lion Beast Bot and to throw his family's enemies off with speed and agility. It was slow going at first since he was given a crash course on his basics before he was taught how to utilize his speed as well as his bite should he need it but he started to pick things up and become more agile and a better fighter as well as a robot.
"Mommy, are you feeling all right?" Riolu asked worriedly.
"Yeah, you're not looking so damn hot right now," added Silvally as he warily watched his human mother start to falter heavily.
"What are you talking about? I'm just as right as-AH!" began Sarah before she was hit by a hard push from Tsukumaro before she landed on her bottom and saw Tsukumaro starting to look disappointed.
"You're getting distracted again, Princess! Never take your eyes off your opponent or let anybody throw you off!" he ordered before attacking her again.
The little princess quickly blocked her godfather's blow before she grabbed his right hand and let herself be hauled up as Tsukumaro prepared to hack or thrust at her again.
Her progress slowly got worse the more she pushed herself to her limits as she then tried to force him to get on one knee and hold him in by a sword lock on his throat, ignoring her right hand starting to shake as a slight pain was felt on her right wrist. This was a big mistake which didn't help given how tired she was as the old advisor stomped on her foot with enough force to make her falter.
"OWCH!" she cried before she was grabbed and pushed away again as she fell on her back, panting heavily and groaning in frustration from her defeat.
"Aww, man! She blew it," groaned Zorua.
"Guess her mind's not in the right place right now," Terrakion concluded.
"And, her form's now lacking from how she tried to overtake her godfather by trying to hide and exploit her own weaknesses if she showed any," agreed Virizion, feeling grim and worried for Sarah. "She's allowing her fear of failing to protect everyone she loves to overcome her, badly."
"Princess, you're not focused as you once were. If you keep on doing that, it becomes a bad habit," Tsukumaro gently admonished. "You've got to stop exerting yourself before you do yourself any more harm. What's more, you can't let your enemies take advantage of you if you relax as things start to go your way. Always think about your next move and be ready to react should your enemy strike again."
He then pointed his sword at her chest to emphasize his deep faith in her and to remind her of what she has to fight for in her team's war against Team Eclipse, making her gulp worriedly.
"When a warrior, a true princess, or a Power Ranger feels satisfied that he or she had truly done their duty to protect the ones they love, that's the moment when he or she dies."
He then smiled kindly at her, "But, you were able to keep up with me for the most part."
A little later, the group all decided to take a much-needed break from their training to have a picnic lunch Tsukumaro prepared with Nikki and James' help. It was Sunday and Sarah and her family had been training hard since they arrived at Zeraora's floral field in the early morning so despite having a quick breakfast, they were all feeling hungry by the time Sarah's lesson had ended and the others had completed their rounds with the Swords of Justice.
They all ate away at the homemade food Nikki cooked for all of them including jelly-filled donuts, rice balls, noodles, fried rice, and several boxes of Pokemon food but Sarah ate her lunch slowly as she was feeling a little down.
She felt herself starting to feel a little rough around the edges when she and her family went further into their private lessons and she felt herself getting more worn out and exhausted as the days went by and her training grew harder, resulting in her pushing herself to her limits until she collapses.
It didn't help that there was also a lot of pressure put on her shoulders ever since she was given Giratina and Rayquaza's gems along with Dialga and Palkia's after the Kartana incident; pressure that her family and mentors sensed is starting to take its toll on her.
Nobody could blame her; she was the lost princess and the daughter of King Doug and Queen Delilah, both of whom still have yet to be found. Lothor was her fallen uncle and the loathsome brother of her real father who's out for her to get revenge along with his syndicate and threatened to destroy the world and take over the Blinding One/Black Beast to do so.
There was also the matter of preparing for the Alola Region's upcoming Pokemon League that Prof. Kukui is still working hard on and the possibility of finally taking on the Poni Island Grand Trial, the fourth and final Grand Trial of the Island Challenge. As they can all tell, the little princess had a lot on her plate and it was all starting to overwhelm her completely.
Solar (who resigned himself to watching his family eat since he's technically a robot) noticed her slow eating and quickly grew concerned for his ranger partner. "What's the matter, Sarah? Aren't you hungry after your hard-knock training spree this morning?" he asked.
"...Just thinking," she murmured quietly.
"About what, Mama?" asked Nebby, turning to his human mother.
Sarah sighed, looking towards her sword and seeing the gems belonging to Rayquaza, Giratina, and Cresselia on the front left side of its guard, glistening in the sunlight and ready to be used to call upon the Legendary Pokemon she met when needed. She even felt the slight pain of her right wrist returning as she was still feeling fatigued from her mock battle with her godfather, something that Tsukumaro soon noticed and made a personal note to bandage upon returning home.
The pressure she was feeling was still taking a toll on her as she groaned, holding her head as she shook it to rid of the negative thoughts plaguing her mind.
"You feel like you have the weight of the world on your shoulders with those gems and your fate, Princess?" asked Tsukumaro finally, drawing her attention. "I know those eyes, your mother had the same ones when she was feeling put upon about something."
"All right, Princess, what's on your mind right now?" Terrakion asked in agreement.
"What's what?"
"Your eyes speak the truth, Princess," Cobalion replied, concerned despite his stony face. "You're never usually this distracted nor do you ever slack off on your training until today. That was not your usual level of skill despite your devotion."
"I'm fine, I was just having an off day-"
"Do we need to tell you the kind of off day you were having today?" put in Zorua.
"You were straining yourself until your legs were crying out in pain until we had to ice them during your morning run out here," noted Keldeo.
"You look like you were about to pass out as you fought your godfather," said Virizion.
"You were even falling behind your Pokemon and your robot or Beast Bot who were able to grasp the basics of combat easily," added Terrakion with a smile. "And, humans like you usually take a few days or so to fully get the lowdown of our lessons. Not to mention, we saw how your right wrist was behaving under all that stress and pain."
"You've proven yourself to be better than this, Princess," finished Cobalion, his concerned glare narrowing. "We demand an explanation for your behavior. Are you feeling the weight of your royal duties to come in due time or not?"
Sarah flinched from Cobalion's glare before she turned her attention to the rest of her family, who had stopped eating and were looking at her with great concern. Even Zeraora looked on worriedly for its human friend as it nodded to her to let the truth out. The little princess knew there was no running away from the truth no matter how she wanted to put it lightly so she sighed and spoke from her heart again.
"Well, ever since I got Rayquaza and Giratina's gems along with the gems from Palkia and Dialga, I feel like I should take my role as the Sun Princess more seriously. We have two more clues as to the location or whereabouts of Mom and Dad if they had anything else to do with them and if they could help me stop my uncle and Team Eclipse before they get to me," she confessed.
Tsukumaro nodded but felt like she was also not telling them everything. "Was that all that was on your mind and why you're falling behind on your training?"
"Prof. Kukui is still working on his plans to create the Alola Region's first Pokemon League and we've been training hard to come out on top and for when I become the first ever Alola Champion. I even have to think about the final part of my Island Challenge leading up to the Pokemon League, the Poni Island Grand Trial. Whoever's the Kahuna there would be the toughest out of all the Kahunas on the region, maybe stronger or even better than Olivia, Nanu, or Hala."
"You're already the strongest out of your own team, Mother," Silvally scoffed confidently. "And, no matter how many times you've been knocked down and came close to losing or actually lost your battles, you always came back on top. Why should you be worried?"
"But, I'm still not the best compared to other trainers from the rest of the world. Ash has been working to become a Pokemon Master and he's had more experience at this stuff than I had; some other trainers may be good, better than me and he bested Blitz and I before he even evolved. Race has already proven that despite our draw during our school's anniversary field trip to the Kanto Region when I battled him at Misty's Cerulean City gym and he's the Hoenn Battle Frontier Champion!"
"You won against that crazy lady, Carmen Sandiego, when she attacked us along with those Revengers guys," reminded Mai innocently.
"We only one by the skin of our teeth and Candy, Dragonite, Hydreigon, Goodra, and Flygon evolving and Candy's Mega Evolution coupled with Houndoom and his friends, Mai."
"What about that Kaito fella from that other universe you told us about?" Solar interjected.
"I lost three rounds against him and I won only one battle! It was also the one time I felt like I nearly lost Silvally because I was careless and allowed him to keep fighting," Sarah retorted.
"I'm still alive thanks to the twins when they're both tiny Espurr, aren't I?" recalled Silvally, remembering when Danny and Danielle appeared and saved him from death.
"Bri, Brionne, Brio, Brio, Brionne, Bri, Bri?" Aqua questioned, wondering why her trainer was doubting herself now after everything she's been through.
"Scor, Bunny, Bun, Scor, Scor Bun-Bun, Bunny, Scorbunny," bragged Scorch, thinking Sarah could be unstoppable despite what she's thinking.
"Jolt, Jolteon, Jol, Jolte, Jolteon-Jolt-Jolte Jolteon," added Jolteon, eager to see who would be beaten by Sarah next should they come to challenge her, which she's longing for a battle.
As the Pokemon chatted away, Tsukumaro just nodded, now knowing how hard his goddaughter was pushing herself with everything she had to do and prepare for going forward with each challenge met. He also knew that it was important for Sarah to look after herself away from her lessons and decided to make a change of plans to help her adapt to her increasingly strenuous training and look after her health.
"If that's so, then I believe it's time we make a change in our usual training regime," he offered. "Just so you don't break a bone or pull a limb unexpectedly, I'll have us all work through our training doing three hours in the morning and two hours in the afternoon."
"Sounds fair, old man," replied Zorua, her master nodding in agreement. "At least, she won't slouch and sweat so hard like that cooky cartoon crab that way."
"I'm down with that," agreed Keldeo immediately. "No point in training our new student if she literally breaks a leg."
"If that's for the best, then I can vouch for that suggestion to help the princess improve herself without being so hasty and sloppy," nodded Cobalion.
"I agree," said Virizion, nodding in approval.
"You'll be fine, kid," smiled Terrakion, chuckling. "You're quite the ambitious and yet rambunctious bundle of devotion and joy we've seen in our lives for a human child of your stature. You're gonna smoke everybody when you reach the top."
"Terrakion," scolded his superior, making him shut up with a blush as everyone chuckled.
Sarah smiled; Terrakion and the rest of her family as well as Zorua, Zeraora, and the other Swords did have a point. She's still amongst the best between herself and her friends as trainers and despite Ash's immense experience, he couldn't come close to him in terms of battling now ever since her first loss against him. Knowing what she must do and despite the pain she endured from her latest training regime, she was going to do what she can to fulfill her destiny and be the best in Alola.
Meanwhile, at his syndicate's headquarters, Lothor was busy working in the shadows as he and Darkrai meditated in a training hall, the former maintaining a spiritual link with his Nightmare Pokemon partner as they continued to recover from their previous humiliation and defeat at Sarah's hands.
So far, through their own training, they've been able to make considerable progress but it was slow going since their minds were filled with hatred over the little princess and the reveal to him that she was four gems away from unlocking the Sun Sword's true power. He also grew intrigued about the possibility of it pointing his niece to the location of her birth parents, his own former brother as well as his former sister-in-law, and was willing to do what he can to make sure he would come out on top of them and put an end to them and their daughter.
"Ah... My Embodiment of Darkness and Nightmares, we may have lost against that incompetent niece of mine and her meddling friends but I can assure you this," he thought as the two of them continued to meditate. "We'll kill her in due time and when she's put out of her misery, the Alola Region and the world will be ours and I'll recreate them in my own image and not what Doug and Delilah pathetically wanted."
"Leader," replied a voice, entering the training hall and interrupting their meditation.
Lothor opened his eyes and felt the presence of his fellow Sin, Katzenberg, who had appeared to be the next one to have another go at Sarah and her friends. "You're back for more, Katzenberg? I would've guessed you'd be working on the bread line until the whole thing blows over one way or another," he inquired.
"And, miss out on another opportunity to deal with the princess? No, Siree, not my style since I'm hoping for payback. If anything, I want to pummel the brat with everything I got now that I've gotten stronger since Melania and I were foiled during the Buzzwole jig. So, I'm ready for Round 2 of my fight against her."
"Is that so?"
"Yes, I'm hoping to take her by surprise somehow while she's off enjoying herself with her friends on a little excursion that kooky professor and that pun-loving principal planned for them after I eavesdropped on them a little while ago from reconnaissance. So, you'll have to lend me a few more of our Poke-Mechas and I was wondering if you could lend me our three lower grunts from our failed ambush during her sick day as well."
Lothor smirked, chuckling at Katenburg knowingly before he stood up and turned with Darkrai to confront him, "Really, you want to have another shot at taking down my niece, Katzenberg? I wonder how many robots you'll soon waste before you get your hands on that meddling twerp of my brother's even with those clowns helping you. You'll have to get rid of her annoying ranger posse and bring her to me this time. If you don't, you'll fail as the others have, you know; you can use a thousand Poke-Mechas, our plans can't be realized before you rid us of those meddlesome power pests!"
"As long as the princess is alive, Katzenberg, we'll all be destroyed and she will fulfill her destiny before we even come close to completing our mission," added Darkrai darkly.
Katzenberg nodded, knowing what he's up against given what the Embodiment of Wrath himself had found out from his fellow superiors following the last few mission they failed to achieve.
"I know that now and I'm ready this time so just as Ivanka and Melania had during the Kartana bust, I'll oversee this mission myself," he nodded.
"Well, for your sake, we hope it works and she's brought to us, at last. But, my master's offer from before still stands: if you can successfully bring the princess to us, we'll reward you so well, you can relax for the rest of your life," Darkrai said as Katzenberg bowed to them.
"We're trusting you this time, Katzenberg. So don't, let, us, down, we mean it," finished Lothor.
"You can trust me, my lord," replied Katzenberg as he soon left.
No sooner had Katzenberg left to prepare for his next mission that a lower female grunt soon burst into the training hall, looking very flustered.
"Boss, urgent news from one of our Melemele scouts!" she cried frantically, kneeling down to him and Darkrai. "We have new info about who was able to make her such a threat and help her master the Patronus Charm!"
"What...?" asked Lothor, raising an eyebrow in intrigue.
"That man that was with her whenever possible, it's the king and queen's old advisor and her godfather, Tsukumaro Wong! He's travelled from his original time period, OUR time period after we were sealed away, to assist the princess and help her find them! What's more, he heard that the Swords of Justice are helping him train her and they came from Unova!"
Lothor gapsed in shock from this but then, he growled. He had a personal history with Tsukumaro since he was once his, Doug, and Delilah's closest friend until their fallout when he became jealous of Doug following his marriage with Delilah. When he tried to overthrow them the first time, Tsukumaro played a part in stopping him and getting him kicked out and disowned for his crimes. Now, he found a way to reach the future and reunite with his goddaughter which was the last thing he needed.
"Damn... Blast that Tsukumaro!" he hissed quietly, clenching his hands into fists with unrestrained rage. "All right, then. You, send another scout to do reconnaissance and keep tabs on us with information on Wong and my niece, I want them watched at all times! I won't tolerate failure a few more times before I get angry!"
"Right, Sir!" agreed the grunt before she left to make the arrangements.
"I warn you, if you fools don't smart up and be useful for once, you'll all be finished here!" he called, not wanting him and his syndicate to be humiliated again.
The next morning, school had started once again and Sarah and her friends and family were all ready for another day of learning from Professor Kukui.
The princess' right hand was bandaged when she felt it hurt with a painful jolt, the pain from her intense training spree from Tsukumaro and the Swords of Justice's lessons now becoming more prominent when she woke up. Nikki and James were concerned for their adopted daughter when the old advisor told them about what went down during her training but they let it slide as they helped to treat it before she left, given what her mind was on beforehand.
However, even they couldn't help but also notice that Sarah was doubting herself too much on what had happened to her and she didn't feel confident now to do what she feels is right regarding her destiny and what she has to do to save her home, find her parents, and end Lothor and Team Eclipse.
She was still feeling the pressure put on her after earning her gems, two more of the original seven for her family's Sun Sword, and what she's been through since finding out about her royal lineage. It also didn't help that her right wrist would occasionally throb with pain despite being treated and she would rub it whenever possible.
Her friends didn't notice as they all waited patiently for Prof. Kukui to arrive with their lesson for the day and she was grateful that they didn't push her to tell them what happened to it. What they didn't know, however, is that Kukui and Principal Oak, who had decided to pay his class another visit, had planned a special week-long field trip for them as Kukui's upcoming lessons pertain to Pokemon that involved the likes of Rapidash and her younglings.
It was also to be a trip that will help Sarah take her mind off of what she's facing and relax for even a moment, which she needed.
"Alola!" greeted Kukui and Principal Oak as they entered the classroom.
"Alola!"
"Class, you've all learned brilliantly throughout the past several months," began the Alola professor. "But, this week, your principal and I have organized a special trip to a peculiar region I'm sure you're all dying to see."
"That's right, Class! For this week, since this will be a Pika-trip as a treat to say congratulations for coming so far in your lessons, we're going to Rapidash to a region that's the home of Sarah's Galar Pokemon," agreed Principal Oak, doing his Pokemon Puns again.
"A new field trip?!" gasped Ash excitedly.
"Galar Pokemon?" added Lana, her eyes twinkling.
"You don't mean-?" gawked Lillie in excitement.
"Are we really going to-?!" beamed Sophocles.
"We sure are, the Galar Region!" Kukui confirmed, smiling at his class.
Everyone beamed with delight from this; finally, they were all going to visit a new region and the region of choice would be the Galar Region. This was a trip that'll be in their memories and photobooks for a long time. Even Rotom-Dex couldn't help but buzz in extreme anticipation over the idea of learning about Galar Pokemon.
Sarah, on the other hand, was left stunned after she was brought back to reality from her doubts while Scorch, Wooloo, Ponyta, and Yamper cheered excitedly as their mother gave an amused smile and neigh. The little princess was about to head to their home region for the first time ever and even though it would be for her lessons, a vacation there would help take her mind off of what was plaguing her since getting Rayquaza and Giratina's gems.
It also came as a surprise to her when she turned to her Galar Pokemon and saw how delighted Wooloo, Ponyta, and their younger brothers were upon hearing the announcement, the rest of their family and their mother continuing to look at them in amusement at the prospect of them returning to their former home.
"The Galar Region...?" she breathed, still in shock.
"Aren't Wooloo and Ponyta's little brothers and mother also from the Galar Region, Sarah?" Mallow questioned, her attention finally turning to her.
"Yep," she confirmed with a nod.
"Professor Magnolia's working there along with her granddaughter, Sonia, on Galar's history and Dynamax, right?" Sophocles questioned.
"Yes, indeed! We'll visit Professor Kukui's colleagues and get a first-hand look at the Dynamax Phenomenon Prof. Magnolia's been analyzing and have a history lesson about the region from Sonia. You'll even get to see some incredible Galar Pokemon like Rapidash and her children, too, for they're the tip of the iceberg," confirmed Principal Oak.
"Right! And, that's not all, they're going to give us a tour of the entire region throughout the week," added Kukui, chuckling. "There might even be some trainers who would love to see how you fare as Pokemon trainers along with a few special guests of theirs who will be helping them."
"Special guests in the Galar Region, too, who are they?" questioned Ash.
"And, just what we'll be doing that we can't do in Alola or Kanto?" added Mallow.
"What do you suppose we'll see upon arriving in the Galar Region? Do they have a Pokemon League or Pokemon Contests?" Kiawe questioned eagerly, already edging to see the Galar Region.
"You'll have to wait until we get there," Kukui told them.
"Sounds like lots of fun!"
"Sure does!"
"Let's go!" cried the others excitedly.
Sarah was floored by what she heard; if the Galar Region really was going to be something of a treat and if she was going to take her mind off of the upcoming Alola League, Lothor and Team Eclipse, and the Poni Island Grand Trial should she eventually get around to completing the Island Challenge, she should take a vacation there and see what the new region has to offer.
"When do we leave?" she asked Kukui and Principal Oak.
"We'll be leaving this Wednesday morning so you can Sucker Punch tomorrow off to get your things ready and prepare for what we're about to face in the new region," replied Kukui.
"Your families will be eager to hear about your adventures as well as see the region so if you can, you may each bring one member from them but no one else. We must warn you, what you're about to experience when we arrive is unlike anything you can ever imagine."
Everyone cheered along with the Pokemon and dragons. Sarah just smiled as she felt a great weight being taken off her shoulders; they were all going to take a field trip to the Galar Region for the week and it was the perfect time for her to relax and take her mind off of her final Grand Trial, the Alola League, and her uncle and Team Eclipse.
The following afternoon, after she told Nikki and James about the upcoming field trip to the Galar Region after school prior, Sarah was packing what she needed for the week-long trip/vacation to the Galar Region and was being careful not to stress out her bandaged wrist too much while doing so with Blitz, Riolu, Wooloo, Ponyta, Scorch, and Yamper's help.
Both of them and Tsukumaro were very surprised about Kukui's next lessons for her and her friends being on anything and everything there is to know about the Galar Region and its Pokemon but they were impressed since it would mean they would get to discover more of the large world they're in and to experience a region that's completely different from Alola and Kanto.
More importantly, they thought it was a perfect idea to help the little princess relax and take her mind off of her worries involving what she has left to do involving the final Grand Trial and the Alola League as well as getting Team Eclipse and Lothor off of their minds. They knew it was what their real parents would want for her to be happy again if they were with her now.
"Yam-Yam!" barked Yamper excitedly, his barks muffled from having pulled another shirt for his trainer from her closet.
"Thanks, Yamper," she chuckled, taking the shirt from the Galar Puppy Pokemon.
Yamper bounded across the room, still excited from the opportunity to return to his and his family's home region even if it was just a week. Sarah chuckled until she felt a shirt being tossed on her head before she turned to find Scorch skimming through her clothes as he tossed them about.
"What are you doing?" she laughed at the Scorbunny.
The little Galar Fire Starter continued what he was doing until he found a pair of shorts he felt would be perfect for Sarah as he dumped them into her bag and continued looking through her clothes and started peering through her toys.
"Scor, Scorbunny, Bun, Bunny-Bun, Scor!" he chirped happily, looking like he was packing Sarah's whole room in her back.
"Scorch, we've been through this fifty times after school ended yesterday," she chuckled again as she sorted out her things, including four small bags that were made and packed for her Galar Younglings. "We're only going to your and your family's home for a week, not a month."
"Baa, Baa, Baa, Baa," said Wooloo as he and Ponyta emerged from the clothes pile Scorch made in his excitement and haste.
"Neigh, Neigh, Neigh..." nodded Ponyta in agreement.
The two of them had also told their energetic little brothers that their return to the Galar Region wouldn't be long but they saw that they were just too excited to wait until the flight arrangements, which Kukui and Principal Oak were taking care of at the moment, were completed and the others are ready. They were excited to return to their former home as well but they didn't go crazy about it as Scorch and Yamper had done.
"Princess! Princess, are you done in there?" called Tsukumaro as he came up the steps to her room with Milotic, Blitz, Snivy, Sylveon, Goodra, and Latias in tow. "Sir Kukui just called, he said he and Sir Sampson have finalized the flight arrangements for tomorrow and he mentioned we'll be leaving in the morning and-"
The old advisor entered her bedroom but when he opened the door, he was shocked to find her toys and clothes strewn all over as Yamper and Scorch wrecked it while they were helping Sarah pack, still lost in their excitement.
"What in the name of Lugia is going on here?!" he gasped in shock, startling her and the Galar Younglings as they turned to the shocked group.
"Uh, he-he... Uh, hi," giggled Sarah sheepishly.
Sighing after seeing Yamper, Scorch, Wooloo, Ponyta, and his human mother in the middle of the Galar Puppy and Rabbit Pokemon's mess, Blitz and the other Pokemon set about reorganizing and cleaning up the princess' bedroom while Blitz checked out the bags for the Galar Younglings.
"Princess, you should know better than to let little Yamper and Scorch run wild at the prospect of returning to their home region," Tsukumaro admonished. "Even Wooloo and his sister showed restraint when you broke out the news about this trip. Have you got everything you need?"
"I did, everything's on the bed along with the bags I found for Wooloo, Ponyta, Yamper, and Scorch," she reassured, pointing to her bags as Snivy and Blitz sorted everything out from them for the week-long field trip.
"They've been helping me pack... Well, for the most part..."
"I can see that. But, why-? Princess, why, your family's treasure and heirloom? You're taking it with you to Galar?"
Tsukumaro had noticed the sheathed Sun Sword detached from Mudsdale's saddle and next to her bags including a sixth one that looked as though it could fit the sword.
"Just as a precaution but it's also a training tool like your sword. You are taking it with you for training as well, right?" retorted the princess. "You did promise to teach me the Tai Chi Sword eventually after you filled me in on it."
"Well, yes... I did promise you that one time during our training. But, will you make sure to tell anybody checking our bags at our airport stops that it's a training tool and nothing more?"
"I will."
"Have you decided on who to take with you for the trip?"
"Oh, um..." Sarah started.
She hasn't decided on who to take with her to Galar since she was an only child. She knew that her friends would eventually or automatically decide to go on their own for the field trip but she hasn't made her mind up on who to take herself.
"Why not go with her to Galar yourself?" put in Nikki, coming to see them.
The old advisor whirled around in shock, completely taken aback by Nikki's suggestion. "M-Me?! Lady Nikki, you're bluffing! What about you and Sir James?" he started, completely flabbergasted.
"Too late, old man, we've already decided," agreed James as he approached them and Sarah. "It has been a while since you've seen how big the world really is so Nikki and I thought it would be best for you to join Ponchita and her friends to see how Galar is like since you've been living in Alola your whole life."
"Plus, it would do you some good to spend some time together as a normal godfather and goddaughter for once," Nikki finished. "You saw how she hurt herself after pushing herself to her limits during her training. Let her take time off to relax and lay low while you still have the chance."
Tsukumaro was quiet; Nikki and James did have a fair point since most of the time, whatever time he and Sarah spent together since they first met was on her training regime and truly private and ordinary godfather-goddaughter moments between them were few and far in-between.
He also had no idea how much of the world had grown and changed since Doug and Delilah made the ultimate sacrifice and the Ultra Beast War ended ever since arriving in the future. He thought he had endured a culture shock with the modern Alola but Galar was bound to be a completely new thing for him and the old advisor wanted to see how much things really had changed and what the new region had to offer.
"Well, I suppose... You do have a fair argument," he admitted.
"So, are you going to take up the offer or not?" James smirked, raising an eyebrow.
"...Oh, all right," he sighed after a moment.
"Good, now you two continue packing and we'll get your food-to-go ready for the flight tomorrow," Nikki nodded, heading to the kitchen.
"And, Ponchita, Kukui also reminded you and your friends to have a thick jacket and some heavy clothing for when you go to the Crown Tundra," James said as he joined her.
"Sure, Dad-HEY!" replied Sarah as Scorch found a thick coat and threw it on her head. "Scorch...?"
"Scor, Bun, Bunny!" he chirped, his smile still on his face.
"Hey, old man! Hurry up, we'll need to check if you're all packed, too!" James called from downstairs.
"Coming, Sir James! Urgh, youngsters today," Tsukumaro grumbled as he left Sarah and her Pokemon to their own devices.
But, while Sarah and her godfather continued to pack away and prepare for the Galar field trip ahead of them, they had no idea that they were being spied on by Katzenberg, who had gone incognito in regular civilians' clothing to keep attention away from him. He was eying the princess through advanced binoculars, seeing her and her Pokemon pack their things.
Even though he couldn't hear her and her family through the walls of their home, he narrowed his eyes suspiciously as he wondered what she was going to do.
The next morning, it was finally time for the gang to set off for the Galar Region for their field trip. Ash and the others were all set with their stuff packed along with Prof. Kukui and Principal Oak. Having made arrangements for one of his trusted staff to look after the school while they were gone, the Pokemon Principal and Kukui led their students to the gate for their designated flight to the Galar Region after getting their tickets.
"Isn't this great? We're all going to the Galar Region!" Ash cheered, the most excited out of the group.
"Pika, Pikachu!" agreed Pikachu.
"This is gonna be fun!" Lana added, unable to contain her own excitement.
"Who knows what kind of Pokemon we'll be able to see when we get there?" Mallow pondered eagerly. "And, imagine all the delicious food we'll get to try there!"
"I wonder what Professor Magnolia will be showing us about the Dynamax phenomenon," Sophocles thought.
"Wouldn't it also be great to know about Galar's history and how the Pokemon living there adapted to the region's environment and such?" Lillie questioned excitedly.
"I guess we'll find out once we get there. On the other hand, I can't wait to see how people and Pokemon there can live with each other in such a fascinating region," Kiawe smiled.
Even their Pokemon partners couldn't help but let out cries of excitement, agreeing with everything their partners were telling them. No doubt this was going to be a real first for all of them, even bigger than everyone's field trip in Kanto. They wanted to take someone from their families with them but Ash and Kukui have already agreed on going together and the rest of the gang's families are tied up with things on their end so none of them could join.
"You're all going to enjoy the Galar Region when we get there, class," Kukui smiled. "It's truly a region full of tradition and wonder that only people in the Galar Region can experience and also got two areas within the region in our plans to visit during our stay."
"What are they?" Lana asked curiously.
"Well, aside from the Galar Region itself, there's also a secluded area of Pokemon martial arts called the Isle of Armor to the right of it and a frozen mountainous area known simply as the Crown Tundra. Both of which, I might add, you'll only have access to if you have an Armor Pass and a Crown Pass."
"I'm ready to have a battle with any Pokemon trainers in the Galar Region, I wonder if any of them are strong," Ash thought in his growing excitement. "Do they have an Island Challenge or Pokemon Gyms or even a Pokemon League?! I'm so stoked!"
"Save your battling energy, Ash! The trainers going on a journey in the Galar Region are not like any other trainers you're used to meeting or battling with," laughed Kukui.
"The Galar trainers are Machoke-buff in their training and their Pokemon don't Slowpoke around in their battles as well," Principal Oak warned, smiling knowingly.
"I'm definitely gonna try, anyway!" Ash said, undeterred.
"Hey, guys, I just realized something. Sarah isn't here yet," gasped Lillie, realizing who's missing.
"You're right! Where is she?" Sophocles replied as he looked around.
"Is she playing Hooky on us this time?" Kiawe groaned.
"Our flight's about to depart in an hour at best and we don't have much time before boarding," Mallow fretted.
"This isn't good," Lana mused.
"Do you think she's running late?" Lillie wondered. "It's not like her to miss out on a big field trip like this one.
"She'll make it! She's not gonna miss out on our first ever trip to the Galar Region!" reassured Ash. "If she was coming with us, she would've been here by now and-AH!"
"PI-I-I-I-I-PIK!" shrieked Pikachu in surprise as he was flung off of Ash's left shoulder and he faceplanted on the floor, surprising his trainer and the rest of the gang.
"Pikachu!" cried Ash, seeing his partner hurt before he saw a familiar white, orange, and yellow rabbit snickering from his shoulder.
Groaning from the unexpected surprise attack, Pikachu picked himself up and turned to find Scorch still in a giggling fit, glaring angrily at the Galar Fire Starter for his little prank. "PIKA!" he snarled.
"Scorch!" gasped Kukui.
"But, that must mean-!" Principal Oak began in shock.
Then, they heard loud barks coming towards them and before Lillie knew it, she was tackled by a brown and yellow bundle of fur as she shrieked in surprise, with Snowy being knocked out of her arms, before she laughed from the licks the bundle was giving to her.
"HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA! Yamper, Yamper, boy-HA-HA-HA! Stop it, that-HA-HA-HA-HA!" she laughed, seeing the Galar Puppy Pokemon greeting her happily.
"Yam-Yam-Yam!" barked Yamper excitedly.
"Hey, it's Yamper!" Sophocles gawked.
"But, what are they doing here in the airport?" Lana asked, taken aback.
"If Scorch and Yamper are here, do you think Sarah's already arrived ahead of us?" Mallow theorized.
"Maybe she's already waiting for the plane after she finished packing yesterday and left as soon as possible," Kiawe pondered.
"That girl, full of surprises," chuckled Kukui.
Speaking of which, said trainer was calling Pikarla from a video phone that she linked to the Pikachu enthusiast, Blitz's parents, and Curly to tell them about the trip and they'll return in a week from now. She and Tsukumaro had already finished packing and had gotten their tickets as soon as they arrived at the airport and decided to wait for the others to arrive.
While she had gotten a majority of her Pokemon back in their Pokeballs in her satchel so she could still carry them despite the six-Pokemon limit, save for Blitz and Riolu,
"And, that's basically it. When we're done, we'll tell you everything that happened," she told them. "And, who knows? Maybe there are bound to be some Pikachu living in the Galar Region while we're there."
"Well, I'm sure you'll all have a lot of Pika-fun while you're there, Pisarah," smiled Pikarla. "And, if you do find any Pikachu in the Pika-Galar Region, please send me Pika-photos of the Pikachu there so I can make plans to find them."
"Pika, Pikachu, Pi, Pika, Pik-Pi, Pika," added Donna, wanting Blitz to stay out of trouble while in the Galar Region.
"Pika..." Blitz sighed knowingly.
"Pi, Pikachu, Pika-Pika, Pi, Pikachu, Pika, Pikachu," replied Sirius, wanting his son to look after his family while in the Galar Region and to not worry him, his mate, and Curly too much.
"Pi-Pi, Pikachu, Pi, Pika, Pika?" asked Curly, wanting her boyfriend to be careful.
Blitz blushed as he bashfully nodded and said, "Pi. Pika, Pika."
"Sounds like they got Blitz wrapped in their paws," chuckled Sarah, making Blitz blush harder.
"Well, that's a Pika-girlfriend and Pika-parents like them, Pisarah," chuckled Pikarla. "So, until next time."
"Take it easy in Pikachu Valley, guys!"
Saying goodbye to Pikarla, Donna, Sirius, and Curly, Sarah ended the phone call before he and Blitz returned to Tsukumaro, Absol, Blitz, and Riolu, and her Galar Pokemon waiting near the gate for their flight to the Galar Region.
Yamper and Scorch were asked to find and bring the others to their location while Wooloo, Ponyta, and Rapidash remained with the rest of their family at the gate.
"Well, this is it. In a little while, we'll be on our way to the Galar Region with the rest of my class. A brand new region the likes of which we've never even seen before along with new Pokemon beyond our wildest imaginations, it'll be great! Ready for your first ever flight to Galar?"
"Um... Sure, yeah. J-j-just, pe-peachy, as you would say..." stuttered Tsukumaro, nervous about flying.
Of course, given the abrupt idea of having Tsukumaro come with her to the Galar Region for the field trip, the old advisor was still learning his way over modern technology and conveniences that most people take for granted nowadays. While he had his head wrapped around using modern appliances and comforts including comfier beds, new sturdier tables and chairs, and the food of the new era, he was still baffled by the methods of transportation used such as Ride Pokemon and machines like the airplane.
"Don't tell me you've never seen let alone been on an airplane before," Sarah asked incredulously. "Didn't I tell you about them already?"
"We've never had such marvels of the sort in my time and I'm still learning about your time ever since I arrived to check on you. You must understand that I'm a little slow in understanding these strange, new-fangled machines you younglings have these days," he retorted.
"It's not going to kill you or anything, it only hurts when something goes wrong on it and crashes somewhere in the middle of nowhere on land or in the ocean and it sinks."
"That doesn't inspire confidence if you're trying to help me wrap my head around such a mechanical beast."
"It's harmless, the only thing you do while inside a plane is to sit back, relax, and enjoy the view from below as we fly to the Galar Region."
"I'm still not sure if I would want to ride on one now."
"Oh, come on, really?"
"Scor!"
"Yamp-Yam!" cried Scorch and Yamper, making the pair and the Pokemon with them turn to Wooloo and Ponyta's brothers.
They soon noticed the rest of the princess' class, Prof. Kukui, and Principal Oak along with the gang's Pokemon trailing from behind the younger Galar Younglings as they jumped into their trainer's shoulders and arms.
"Already debating on whether air travel is safe for our guest of honor, Sarah?" chuckled Kukui.
"Hi, Professor," Sarah greeted.
"Master Kukui, Master Sampson, forgive me for not noticing you sooner," bowed Tsukumaro in greeting.
"No worries, we're just Krabby-rised to see you two already at the gate," reassured Principal Oak. "You both must've gotten a head start after you both packed yesterday and got your tickets for our flight."
"Scorch and Yamper must be pretty excited to be going to the Galar Region again," Kiawe noted as he noticed Rapidash and Scorch and Yamper's older siblings watching the plane coming. "Even Wooloo, Ponyta, and Rapidash couldn't wait to get started from what I'm seeing."
"They've been like this since the announcement was made on Monday. Scorch and Yamper practically couldn't sleep knowing that they and their family will be back in their former region in a little bit."
"We can see that, they were begging us to follow them after they found us," Lana smiled.
"Aside from that, it looks like we're all finally here for our flight to the Galar Region," Mallow said.
"This is going to be the best field trip ever!" Lillie cheered.
"And how, especially with all the trainers and Pokemon we're all going to battle and meet!" Ash perked up.
"Not until after we set our Future Sight towards Professor Magnolia and her granddaughter at their lab first," smirked Kukui.
"Your attention, please. Your attention, please," replied an airport worker via the intercom. "Will all passengers registered for and riding Corviknight Airlines Flight #4472 to the Galar Region please report to Gate 15 to begin boarding?"
"Hey, that's our flight number!" gasped Lillie in realization.
"And, our gate!" added Lana.
Sarah then turned to her Galar Pokemon as they started to head to the gate. "Rapidash, I need you and your children back in your Pokeballs if you want to go with me through the gate. I don't want Scorch and Yamper causing a racket with the other passengers and getting us kicked out," she told the older Unique Horn Pokemon.
Rapidash nodded as her younglings also resigned themselves to being returned to their balls and being put back in her satchel. Aside from Snowy, Pikachu, Blitz, Riolu, Popplio, and Tsareena, Turtonator, Togedemaru, Charjabug, Lycanroc, and Torracat were returned to their balls while Rowlet remained in Ash's backpack.
"Well, kids, our Galar field trip begins as of now! Very soon, with a stroke of agility, we'll be taking in the sights, sounds, and Pokemon the Galar Region has to offer for all of us," Kukui announced as they and the other passengers for the flight began boarding. "I want you all to watch everything you see and learn all you can for these are experiences you'll never have anywhere else in any other region including Alola."
"We'll first pay a visit to Professor Magnolia's lab to meet her and Sonia first as well as their special guests for our tour as soon as we land and then, the learning fun can begin!" finished Principal Oak.
"YEAH!" cheered the kids barring a nervous Tsukumaro, still antsy about flying in a plane.
Soon, with everybody on board and having gotten their seats for the trip, the plane took off for the Galar Region and thus began the gang's adventures through the Galar Region.
Meanwhile, in the small farming town of Postwick in the Galar Region, a pre-teen boy of thirteen was watching the Galar Champion, Leon, going up against one of the Galar Gym Leaders named Raihan on his Rotom Phone with a large rabbit-like Pokemon by his side in the living room. Both of their eyes glistened as they watched the battle taking place.
The large male rabbit-like Pokemon with the boy was none other than the evolved form of Raboot and Scorbunny, the Striker Pokemon known as Cinderace. As the two of them were distracted by the excitement of the match between Leon and Raihan, their Charizard and an alloy-like Dragon Pokemon known as Duraludon duking it out to the crowd going nuts over them, a small "baa" was heard as the door opened and a bell rang.
A Wooloo had appeared before them before a male large ape that's the final-evolved form of the Galar Grass Starter, Grookey, known as Rillaboom the Drummer Pokemon entered the house as he smiled in amusement at the Sheep Pokemon.
"'Ey, Victor!" cried a voice belonging to another pre-teen boy.
The boy on the couch, Victor, turned to the owner of the voice which was one of his best friends/neighbors, Hop, the younger brother of Leon.
"Hop, mate! Good to see ya," smiled Victor brightly as they shared a hug and a high-five, their partners doing a high-five in greeting as well.
"Are you watching the match between my brother and Raihan on your phone? It's crazy, they're really going at it this time, no doubt Lee's gonna cream him again! I'm really hoping all the training my team and I did would pay off so I can finally battle him and prove myself to him that I can be just as great of a trainer as him!"
"You'll have to get past me or Gloria first since we and our teams are both aiming for the top as well," smirked Victor.
"Cind, Cinder, Cind, Cinderace, Ace!" nodded Cinderace, also smirking towards Rillaboom.
"Rilla, Ril, Laboom?" taunted Rillaboom as he returned the smirk.
"That's what I'm planning to do! I may have gotten rusty and Bede may have had a point after I battled him but I'm not gonna let my weaknesses nor Bede put me down and when the time comes, I'll clobber you both with my eyes closed!" Hop said with determination.
"We'll see what she and Inteleon would have to say about that when we eventually get to Hammerhocke," reminded Victor.
"Not to mention we're ready for the Champion Cup since we all have our badges at hand," agreed Hop before he thought about something. "Victor, didn't Professor Magnolia and Sonia ask to have the three of us meet with them at their lab in Wedgehurst about something?"
"Yeah, I remember. They phoned us all after we all won our last gym badges but Professor Magnolia only mentioned she has a surprise for us she wanted to show us."
"What do you suppose she's got in mind besides her research on Dynamax and Gigantamaxing along with Sonia's research on the Darkest Day?"
"Whatever it is, I can only imagine how big it's going to get, especially when we're about to decide how we're going to approach the final matches in the Champion Cup going forward from now."
At that moment, the boys' Rotom Phones rang and they picked up the calls meant for them to find their pre-teen neighbor and other best friend, Gloria, with her Secret Agent Pokemon, Inteleon, the final evolved form of Sobble, at Wedgehurst outside of Professor Magnolia's lab.
"Speak of the devil!"
"What's up, Gloria?" they replied to the girl.
"Guys, where are you? Did you get here to Wedgehurst yet?" Gloria asked over the call.
"We were just about to come and see you," Hop told her. "Did the professor say anything about the surprise she mentioned about her guests?"
"She got a call from one of her colleagues about it and she wants us over immediately! Get down here fast!"
"You got it, Glors! We'll see you when we get there!" Victor said before they ended the call and he turned to his mother working in the kitchen with some of the Pokemon he caught along his journey living with her. "Mum! We're going to Professor Magnolia's lab on her little errand!"
"Have a good time, boys! And, be careful!" called Victor's mother as the boys and their partners left for Wedgehurst.
Victor and Hop both rushed over to Professor Magnolia's lab where they found Gloria and Inteleon waiting for them and their partners by the door.
"There you are!" smirked Gloria as they panted to catch their breath from their racing. "Took you two long enough after your dilly-dallying over Leon's match against Raihan."
"Button it, Gloria!"
"We told you we'd get here! Didn't we?" retorted Hop and Victor, both of them panting heavily leaving Gloria and their partner Pokemon smirking with raised eyebrows at the pair.
"Sure you did. Now, let's go and see the professor. She's already waiting for us inside."
The three trainers and their partners entered the Wedgehurst Pokemon Research Lab where they found Professor Magnolia and her granddaughter, Sonia, waiting for them in the kitchen.
"Ah, young Hop, Victor, Gloria, how wonderful to see you," greeted Professor Magnolia kindly. "I see you all answered my call to meet us at my lab. I hope you're all training hard for the Champion Cup coming soon, Sonia and Leon have told me you've all been working hard with your Pokemon but let me just say congratulations to you all for having claimed all your badges. It must've taken a lot of blood, sweat, and tears from all of you to get this far."
"So, what else is new? We're glad that you, Lee, and Sonia were able to support us and have us further your research on the Dynamax Phenomenon, Professor," smirked Victor.
"Yeah, those Dynamax Bands you made for us from those Wishing Stars really came in handy," Gloria agreed.
"It wasn't easy but it's been a real blast for the most part!" added Hop excitedly. "I feel like I'm ready to take on Lee after everything I've been through!"
The Galar professor chuckled, "I'm sure you're all ready for the Champion Cup when you return to Wyndon but only one of you will eventually come out on top and face Leon in the end. That is, until after you help me with my errand regarding my colleague, Professor Kukui."
"Professor Kukui?"
"The Pokemon professor studying Pokemon Moves in the Alola Region?"
"He's coming here?" asked the three Postwick trainers, all of them looking surprised.
Professor Magnolia nodded with a smile. "He's coming here on a school field trip and he's bringing his entire class to teach them about our region and what's happening around here including the Dynamax Phenomenon I'm studying. I was wondering if you could help me introduce them to our ways with the Pokemon and how we do things in the region compared to how they do it in the Alola Region," she offered.
"Really, that's what we have to do?" Hop asked again.
"What do we have to teach them?" Gloria pondered.
"There's also something else you should know and I'd appreciate it if you keep it between us and Leon should he be hearing this any moment when he comes," added Professor Magnolia. "One of Kukui's students is more... Unique, compared to the rest of her class. There are things she has known from experience that I would like to know about personally which would help with my research and she and her friends will be of great help to you in preparing for the Champion Cup."
"Who's the lucky girl amongst them, exactly?" Victor questioned, the professor looking to them with narrowed eyes and a determined smile.
"...Sarah Tomoe."

Pokémon Alola Journey Special – To Galar and Beyond
(End Galar Special Theme Song)
At an airport located next to a seaport in the city of Hulbury, Professor Magnolia arrived from her Corviknight Pokemon Taxi to meet with Kukui and his students along with Principal Oak and Tsukumaro as a bus she organized to take them to her lab had come at the same time she did.
"This Sarah Tomoe must be someone special from what Kukui had told me along with his students and research about Pokemon moves," she thought. "I wonder what else he could teach us about Z-Moves and that Ampharos' Mega Evolution."
Meanwhile, on their flight to the Galar Region and the airport at Hulbury, the gang, Tsukumaro, Principal Oak, and Kukui were waiting patiently and anxiously for the plane to touch down towards their desired location, wondering what wonders will await them upon arriving and meeting Professor Magnolia. Needless to say, Tsukumaro felt a little petrified from experiencing his first ever flight.
"A-a-a-a-a-a-Are we t-t-t-there y-yet, p-p-p-Princess?" he stuttered, trying to stay calm.
"We'll be there soon, Tsukumaro," reassured Sarah. "Relax and enjoy it while it lasts."
As they were flying, Kukui and Principal Oak were explaining about the Dynamax Phenomenon that Professor Magnolia is doing her research on and emphasizing what she told him during their calls with photos of the phenomenon she sent to them.
"T-t-they're...HUGE!" gawked Kiawe, looking at photos of a Dynamax Wooloo, Dynamax Oranguru, and Dynamax Pikachu. "Are they really Dynamax Pokemon?!"
"In the flesh, Kiawe. According to what Professor Magnolia told me and the rest of our colleagues including Professor Oak, legends say that after the Gigantic Pokemon, Eternatus was defeated by Galar's Warrior Pokemon 4,000 years ago, its energy leaked out and came out as Galar Particles during its slumber," informed Kukui.
"If they can grow that big using Dynamax, where would we find them should they do so?" Mallow questioned eagerly.
"You'll find them at Power Spots which were scattered across Galar. Once you've reached one, trainers can trigger their Pokemon's Dynamax transformations while they're battling but you'll only do all that with the use of two items called a Wishing Star and a Dynamax Band."
"Wishing Stars and Dynamax Bands?" Sarah asked, turning to her teacher and principal.
"Raboot-Right, Sarah," confirmed Principal Oak, showing her photos of a Wishing Star and Dynamax Band. "This tool and a part of Eternatus here, only with these can a trainer use Dynamax transformations to the fullest."
"Supposedly, created by a company called Marco Cosmos, when it became a popular way of battling in the Galar Region without utilizing Mega Evolution or Z-Moves, the company's chairman, Rose, had Pokemon Gyms for the Galar League built over specific Power Spots in each specific town and city to fully utilize and take advantage of its power. Something that we can only dream about if we didn't have Mega Evolution or Z-Moves at our disposal."
"Awesome...!" Lana breathed in fascination.
"That's so cool! Dynamax Pokemon is amazing and I want to see it!" Ash begged excitedly.
"Wow, that's crazy!" Sarah gasped.
"Yes, indeed. But, not to worry, the Dynamax Phenomenon will be shown to us safely and with hopes of not endangering anybody since we'll be going to a match that utilizes it within the safe vicinity of the audience and barriers separating us from those battles," reassured Kukui. "As part of my research, I want to know how Dynamax can affect a Pokemon's move set and what moves they'll use following their transformations."
"That's why we've been called in and have arranged this field trip especially for you, kids," finished Principal Oak. "Professor Magnolia personally Lycan-vited us. And, if anybody can introduce you guys to this phenomenon and help us show you all of Galar, it's the Dynamax Professor herself."
"Well, Magnolia's an old friend of mine, Sampson. And, the Dynamax Phenomenon is a uniquely Galar battling style that nobody in the world, not even us in Alola, can have nor fully understand without Eternatus' power, the Power Spots, and those Dynamax Bands by Marco Cosmos."
He then looked down from the window next to him from his seat, knowing what they'll be in for throughout the week. "Take a look, everybody, we'll be landing at Hulbury; our landing spot at a bustling seaside town and the home of Hlubury Stadium, famed for its lively market stalls and its famed restaurant, the Captain's Table."
The gang gasped in wonder as they looked at the town.
"Wow, guys, look at that!"
"The Galar Region, we're here!"
"I can hardly wait to see it!"
"So cool!"
"This is gonna be interesting."
"I'm already loving it!" cheered Ash, Mallow, Lillie, Lana, Kiawe, and Sophocles.
Sarah looked over from her window and saw that they were indeed nearing their intended region for the following week and even she can't wait to see what Galar has in store for her and her family and friends. Even Blitz and Riolu couldn't take their eyes off of Galar down below as they looked towards the numerous Power Spots strewn across the region from the Wild Areas down below and the region's other medieval-like and contemporary towns and cities. It definitely looked like a region with a beautiful blend of modern life and a traditional essence with its own people, culture, and Pokemon to boot.
"Well, Blitz, Riolu, we're here... The Galar Region," she replied. "Soon, we'll all be at Wooloo, Ponyta, Yamper, Rapidash, and Scorch's old home. Let's make the next week the best in our lives and make the most of it."
"Pika!"
"Yeah!" agreed her two Pokemon as the plane began to descend.
Finally, the plane arrived at the airport and landed safely, its passengers ready to disembark and begin their stay or return to the Galar Region. As the gang, Kukui, Tsukumaro (trying to shake off the turbulence he felt from riding on the plane), and Principal Oak made their way out to find and meet with Professor Magnolia, they had no idea they were being followed by Katzenberg along with the three lower grunts, Glam, Hammer, and Fester, all of them going incognito to see what they're up to and to strike whenever possible.
But, given the massive crowd of people entering the region, they were getting squashed left and right and couldn't get out to stalk the group they're after, which left the airport to find Professor Magnolia.
"Well, kids, I think you'll find Professor Magnolia very interesting," Kukui said to his students as he spotted her approaching.
"Kukui, dear!" smiled Professor Magnolia as she came and they shared a hug. "It's been too, too long!"
"Yes, it has, Doctor," replied Kukui to the Galar Professor, who chuckled.
"Magnolia to you, Kukui. And, are these your students and the Pokemon School's principal with you?"
"Yes, indeed. This is my class, whom I've brought along to introduce them to the Galar Region and all it has to offer along with your research on the Dynamax Phenomenon," he began, introducing everybody to his colleague. "Professor Magnolia, may I present Principal Sampson Oak, the cousin of Professor Samuel Oak..."
"How do you Dodrio, Professor?" greeted Principal Oak, doing one of his puns.
"...Tsukumaro Wong..."
"Professor, it is an honor to meet you," bowed Tsukumaro in greeting.
"And, these are my students: Ash, Mallow, Kiawe, Lillie, Sophocles, and Lana."
"Nice to meet you!"
"Hello!"
"Hi, there!"
"We're so glad to meet you, Professor!"
"Thank you for inviting us!"
"Your region's great!" they greeted in turn.
Finally, Kukui turned to Sarah as she, Blitz, and Riolu joined them and Tsukumaro. "And, this is Sarah, one of my finest students in years and the Sun Princess of Alola," he finished proudly and, thankfully, without anybody else hearing.
"Hi, Professor Magnolia, I guess you've heard much about me," the little princess smiled.
"Yes, I have, Angel. Kukui has told me much about you but please allow me to say that I'm honored to be in your presence," Professor Magnolia smiled warmly with a gentle bow before she directed everybody to the bus. "Come, there is so much about our region and the Dynamax Phenomenon you have to learn about."
"This sure is something, Professor. But, what kinds of Pokemon do you and your people have in this region that we don't?" asked Mallow politely.
"A wide variety besides old faces and you'll be surprised about much of them even if you think you've seen the lot with what you've all been through recently," smiled the Galar Professor.
The gang could only imagine what they'll be in for during their stay while they got on the bus and set their stuff inside the lower trunk for their trip to Wedgehurst before they later walk to Postwick.
"I've arranged for this bus to take us as far as Wedgehurst and from there, you will stay with your new friends in the town of Postwick south of the town."
"But, who exactly are our new friends going to be, Professor?" Sophocles asked.
"Are they really strong trainers?" Ash put in.
"Let's just say that those three trainers I've known are more than meets the eye and are destined for great things." She left them on that dubious note as they were soon driven off to Wedgehurst to meet Victor, Gloria, Hop, and her granddaughter, Sofia.
During Gloria, Hop, and Victor's own journey, they met with Magnolia's granddaughter several times as she does her work and they contemplated on the history of the region involving the First King as well as the Darkest Day. She has been skeptical of the legend pertaining to the first king and wanted to know more about the most dreadful time the region had faced and became determined to everyone what she had found so as to tell the true history about the true defenders of Galar and to ensure that the Darkest Day will never happen again.
As they were driven to Wedgehurst and Professor Magnolia's lab, the gang couldn't help but look around in awe at the landscape Galar is known for as well as the new types and kinds of Pokemon that they've never seen in Alola and Kanto.
"The Galar Region, this is going to be so awesome! All those Pokemon we've never seen before are amazing!" Ash cheered excitedly.
"Let's hope you don't swindle all the food here, Ash," Sarah warned cheekily.
"Yes, from what I've heard out of Kukui, you'd previously eat out of house and home in the other regions at times," smirked Professor Magnolia. "But, Leon and I have warned all restaurants that you and your friends are coming, Ash, and I think they're prepared."
"Who's Leon?" Lana asked.
"Our current Champion and the older brother of your new friend, Hop. He's quite the soul who's also destined for great things, he is; won his first ever Gym Challenge and became the champion without losing a single battle with Charizard by his side, that he did."
The gang and their Pokemon partners were thrown for a loop when they heard this; a Pokemon trainer winning his first ever Gym Challenge, the Galar League, undefeated and without losing a single battle between him and the trainers he crossed paths with?! To them, it just doesn't seem right, it was virtually impossible to comprehend given the wins and losses they had to go through and learn from!
"Leon was undefeated?!"
"He won without losing once?!"
"That's impossible! Isn't it"
"How could he become a great trainer after winning so much?"
"That does not inspire confidence!"
"Do you think he can teach us a few tricks?" gasped Ash and the others.
"Professor, you're saying Leon won the Galar League and became the Galar Champion without losing once in his life?" Sarah gawked in shock. "That's crazy, nobody can become a Champion without losing a single battle and learning from his losses!"
"Well, that's Leon, for you; he was pretty extraordinary in his own way when he won. But, that's basically what happened and since then, he's been known as 'The Unbeatable Champion' and 'The Greatest Trainer in All of Galar'. Never lost a single match in all of the exhibitions and leagues he and Charizard have competed in. He actually believes he can also learn from winning and not just by losing."
"...He must be something if he was able to become the very best."
"He sure is," agreed Professor Magnolia before she started to chuckle. "Although, I wouldn't be surprised if he continues to flounder about with his abysmal sense of direction. Couldn't navigate his way around whatever town he's in unless he's in the battlefield with Charizard, I'd say."
"Did he really suck with directions?"
Professor Magnolia chuckled again as the bus continued to take them all to Wedgehurst and the path to her home and research lab while the dragons followed on out of sight from the clouds as they tried to remain hidden so nobody else would see them and freak out. Of course, they all didn't take into account that they were still being followed by Katzenberg, Glam, Fester, and Hammer as they rode on a small jeep they rented or hijacked and tried to keep pace with them without acting suspiciously.
At the Wedgehurst Research Lab, Gloria, Hop, Victor, and their partners were waiting for Professor Magnolia to return with their guests. During their wait, Sofia had arrived and showed them what else she had discovered pertaining to her work on the legend of the first king as well as the Darkest Day.
"Wow... Those details do have some merit to them, Sonia," Gloria mused as she looked through her works.
"But, it does seem a little strange to me and I still can't get my head around it," Victor pondered curiously. "How could two humans be able to stop Eternatus when it's a Pokemon of unbelievable and frightening power? Even if they had any Pokemon with them, wouldn't they go berserk if they were completely overcome and in a crazed state after Dynamaxing and Gigantamaxing?"
"That's something I'm still trying to figure out along with the two heroes theory," Sonia replied to them, scratching her chin in thought. "It just doesn't make any sense; that tapestry at the Hammerlocke vault mentioned two heroes stopping the Darkest Day despite the statue at the Budew Drop Inn telling everybody that one hero was responsible for saving Galar. Not to mention, even if humans do possess a power that can end Eternatus eventually, how were they still able to defeat it and end the Darkest Day?"
"You think there could've been any more clues to the whole thing while we were on our journey?" theorized Hop. "You know, like, some sort of lead that we might've overlooked pointing back to it?"
"If there is, we would've looked harder for it, let alone have it find us by any means."
Sofia mused for a moment over the whole thing; if there was an answer that pointed to an unknown truth about how the Darkest Day came to an end and Eternatus' first defeat at that time, then she would have to look harder to find out what that truth us. But, she couldn't dwell on it now as she then decided to find out about her grandmother.
"So, getting back on track, do you three know where Grandmother is?" she asked.
"She left a little while ago for Hulbury," Hop answered. "She's going to meet with Professor Kukui and Principal Oak from the Alola Region."
"Professor Kukui and Principal Oak, from the Pokemon School?" she gasped in surprise.
"They organized a field trip around Galar for Kukui's class and she wanted us to help show them around the region and what we all do including how we battle and our culture," Gloria said to her.
"She even mentioned about helping them learn about the Dynamax Phenomenon and one of her students having experienced a few things she would like to know if it would further her research," added Victor.
"Really? I never imagined anybody else besides other trainers coming and going and the locals being interested in the Dynamax Phenomenon let alone the Galar Region."
"They actually are and they're coming to see us right now," Gloria said. "Professor Magnolia will be here with them soon and they'll be staying with us for the weekend. If the week doesn't end, they could come to see us at the Champion Cup when we decide who can take down Leon in the Finals."
"Sounds like we got quite a week ahead of us," Sonia mused.
"Yep. In fact, Professor Magnolia told us one of Kukui's students is unique compared to the rest, someone who's of a different...royal lineage from the region."
"A student with a royal lineage?" gasped Sonia.
"Indeed, my granddaughter, she's with us and her class right now," chuckled Professor Magnolia, coming into the lab.
"Grandmother!"
"Professor!" cried the four as they turned to her and saw her guests entering.
"Sonia, good to see you home," smiled the Galar Professor, seeing her granddaughter. "I trust you had no problems with your research on the Darkest Day and Galar's legends so far?"
"Not at all, Grandmother, I'm actually getting close to figuring it all out. I should have all the answers soon once I look harder."
"Excellent, now you and the kids come on over. I've brought our guests for the week who've come from the Pokemon School in Alola for a field trip."
Victor, Gloria, Hop, and Sonia then noticed Professor Kukui, Principal Oak, Sarah, and her friends all entering the lab, looking around at Professor Magnolia's place in awe and finally seeing them for the first time.
"Victor, Hop, Gloria, Granddaughter, I'd like you to introduce you to my colleague and the Pokemon School Principal, Professor Kukui and Sampson Oak," Professor Magnolia introduced. "Kukui's a Pokemon Professor in the Alola Region, his main area of study is Pokemon Moves. And, Principal Sampson Oak is the cousin of Professor Samuel Oak in the Kanto Region and he founded the Pokemon School twenty years ago."
"How do you do?"
"Hello, nice to make your Salamence!" the two Alola adults greeted. "We're all delighted to be invited to the Galar Region, especially on the arrangements of a school field trip."
The three Galar trainers and Sonia balked at Principal Oak's uncanny use of Pokemon puns in his speech but they swallowed the strange greeting from him and nodded in acceptance as they shook their hands in turn.
Kukui then turned to his class as he introduced them to the Galar group as well. "This is my class I've brought over for our field trip for the weekend: Ash Ketchum from Pallet Town, Mallow, Kiawe, Lana, Sophocles, and Lillie," he said.
He then turned to Sarah and Tsukumaro with Blitz, Absol, and Riolu by their side. "And, this right here is Sarah Tomoe and her godfather, Tsukumaro Wong."
"Class, I'd like you to meet Galar's rising stars in the Pokemon field: Victor and his best friends, Hop and Gloria. And, this with them is Professor Magnolia's granddaughter, Sonia."
"Hi, there."
"Good day, mates!"
"It's nice to meet you," greeted Victor, Hop, and Gloria kindly.
"Yeah, we're glad to meet you all," Lillie bowed kindly. "It's nice to meet you all, are you guys Pokemon trainers, too?"
"Oh, yeah! Hop, Gloria, and I are all Pokemon trainers, we're competing to enter the Champion Cup over at Wyndon later," Victor confirmed.
"We were all endorsed by Hop's brother and the current Galar Champion, Leon, to take part in it and we've been going around Galar for a while to complete the Gym Challenge before we could see who would come out as the new champion," added Gloria, smiling.
"It wasn't pretty and it was a lot of hard work but we finally got through it and won all of our badges," Hop finished as the three Galar trainers flashed their badges to their new friends. "See, we've won against all the gym stadiums and their gym leaders and it was a lot of fun with our Pokemon helping us along the way!"
"Wow!" the gang gasped from looking at the badges.
"Those badges are awesome!"
"You must've worked really hard to get them," Ash and Mallow spoke up.
"Thanks, these really mean a lot to us and our Pokemon with everything we've been through together since we started our journey," Hop smiled before the Galar trio turned to Sarah. "And, you must also be the Alolan Sun Princess, nice to meet you in person, at last!"
Sarah was baffled; she had no idea anybody else would know about her royal lineage. "Wait, how did you know about that?" she questioned.
"No surprise there, word surrounding the truth about you got around fast in the world. Everybody in the Galar Region was talking about you when they heard about the last links to the last Alolan Royal Family being around."
"We've never known it to be true until we saw you coming," added Gloria in agreement.
"Even the most experienced scholars in the region learning about the Alola Region were thunderstruck when they heard about you being the lost Sun Princess," nodded Victor. "But, don't worry, Sarah, your secret's safe with all of us. Professor Magnolia asked to keep the whole thing between us and leave everyone else to figure it out for themselves."
"Well, looks like you got yourself a fan club, Sarah," chuckled Kiawe.
"Shut up, Kiawe," groaned Sarah.
"Oh yeah, we almost forgot! Sarah's also the strongest trainer out of all of us in Alola!" Ash bragged.
"And, according to our experience and our journey so far, she's got around 46 Pokemon under her finger," Mallow added.
"46 POKEMON?!" gawked the three Galar trainers in comedic shock and bewilderment.
"Bloody hell, how did you get so lucky?!"
"That's totally barbaric even by trainer's standards!"
"Are you, like, a Pokemon Magnet or something?"
"Well... I may have given them a hand one way or another which allowed them to join me," replied Sarah modestly as she squirmed and blushed.
"So, what are your Pokemon like, guys?" Sophocles asked.
The three Galar trainers shook off their shock and smiled brightly, eager to answer the Electric Type student's question.
"They're awesome, some of the best Pokemon you can ever have as partners and a team here in the Galar Region. In fact, we were each given one by Leon before we started our journey."
"He presented each of us with the three Starter Pokemon available to new trainers starting out in the Galar Region and we all went with whoever fits us best."
"Victor had gone with Scorbunny, Gloria with Sobble, and I went with Grookey. The others in our teams joined after we met up with them during several points in our journey while going for the Gym Challenge."
They all turned to another part of Professor Magnolia's lab to call their starters over to meet their new friends. "Hey, Inteleon, Rillaboom, Cinderace, come on over and meet our friends!" Victor shouted.
The three fully-evolved Galar Starters immediately rushed over to their partners (along with Hop's Wooloo) and greeted them happily. Even Sonia's Yamper dashed towards the group, bounding his way towards them to Sonia's side and barking and panting happily at the Alola newcomers.
"Whoa..." gasped Ash and the others.
"Hey, guys! Sonia has a Yamper, too!" Lillie gasped in surprise.
"Yep, that's him, he's my loyal partner ever since Grandmother had given him to me when I was a little girl," smiled Sonia, giggling at her Galar Puppy Pokemon.
"Guys, meet our partners; this is Cinderace, Inteleon, and Rillaboom," Hop introduced, smiling. "These three have been with us through thick and thin ever since we started our journey. And, down with me is my Wooloo."
"I got this one! And, be thankful I got their data entries downloaded before we left Alola!" buzzed Rotom-Dex, scanning the three Galar Starters,
First, he went over to the baffled Cinderace, "Cinderace, the Striker Pokemon. A Fire Type, it juggles a pebble with its feet, turning it into a burning soccer ball. Its shots strike opponents hard and leave them scorched being skilled at both offense and defense."
Next, he zipped over to the intrigued Rillaboom, "Rillaboom, the Drummer Pokemon. A Grass Type, by drumming, it taps into the power of its special tree stump. It has a gentle disposition and values harmony among its group."
Finally, he zoomed towards Inteleon as he scanned her, "Inteleon, the Secret Agent Pokemon. A Water Type, it has many hidden capabilities such as fingertips that can shoot water at Mach 3 after detecting its opponent's weak points and a membrane on its back that it can use to glide through the air."
Then, to everyone's surprise, three of Sarah's Pokeballs opened to reveal Scorch, her own Yamper, and her Wooloo, all feeling glad to be out of their Pokeballs but also wanting to see Sonia, Hop, and Victor's partners when they heard them greeting their foster mother and her friends.
"Scorch, Yamper, Wooloo!" groaned the princess as she saw them beginning to mingle with Hop's Wooloo, Sonia's Yamper, and Victor's Cinderace. "What are you doing?!"
"Hey, you have a Wooloo, Yamper, and Scorbunny, too!" Hop cried in amazement.
"Would you also settle for a Galarian Ponyta and Rapidash?"
"Huh?!" gasped the three Galar trainers again.
"You mean you have BOTH a Galarian Ponyta and Rapidash?" gawked Victor. "Along with that Yamper, Wooloo, and Scorbunny?"
"Yep, had Wooloo and Ponyta since they drifted to the Alola Region months ago. Then, we found Rapidash, Scorch, and Yamper while getting to the Pokemon Center for my real-life work experience."
Everyone turned to see Scorch and Sarah's Yamper and Wooloo already making friends and their first impressions with Hop's Wooloo, Sonia's Yamper, and Cinderace right off the bat. Scorch was already making an excellent first impression on his final evolved-form as he hopped in place before he mimicked kicking a soccer ball and doing tricks with it while his eyes twinkled in admiration of him, getting an amused chuckle out of Victor's partner. The two Wooloos and Yampers looked over each other as they baaed and panted at each other, making funny faces before the Galar Puppy Pokemon barked happily as they started playing and the Wooloos shared a hoof-bump.
"Looks like they're off to a good start faster than a Yungoos using Agility," chuckled Prof. Kukui.
"If that's the case, why don't you run along and show your new friends around, kids?" Professor Magnolia smiled towards Victor and his friends. "I'd imagine them wanting a place to stay for the week and meet Leon if he's returned to Postwick."
"Great! Then, they can meet with them and see what we Galar trainers will be in the Champion Cup!" cheered Hop.
"The Champion Cup?" the gang asked.
"We'll tell you lot about it once we get home," Gloria reassured them.
"Come on, guys, let's head on back," Victor replied. "See ya later, Professors, Principal Oak!"
"Have a good time, we'll see ya when we get there!" waved Kukui as they all left.
"Enjoy the Galar Region!" said Professor Magnolia as she and Sonia waved everyone goodbye.
"Scorch, Yamper, Wooloo, come on!" called Sarah to her male Galar Younglings, who heard their foster mother's call and proceeded to join her and her friends and godfather.
The walk back home for the three Galar trainers and their partners leading their visitors for the week was short as the two professors, Sonia, and Principal Oak were left on their own to discuss more about both the Dynamax Phenomenon and the Darkest Day. For the Alola gang and Tsukumaro, this was just a taste of what's to come from their trip as Victor, Gloria, Hop, and their partners led everyone to their modest farming hometown of Postwick, eager to give them a taste of Pokemon training and life in the Galar region.
Already, Sarah and her friends and Tsukumaro noticed that Postwick is a really small and humble yet modest town with its lack of amenities like a Pokemon Center and/or stadium coupled with its relative isolation from the rest of the region aside from the buildings scattered across Route 1 as they trailed behind.
"Hope you like your living spaces for the week," Hop commented as they finally arrived at their houses. "They're not much but for us, they're the comforts of home."
"Sorry there's not that many people around here, Postwick's the smallest town in the world and the total population's said to be five," Gloria added, smiling sheepishly.
"But, it's not all bad. It allows us living here with our families to get even closer and live together with our Pokemon fully in harmony," smiled Victor. "Not much different from Alola's most secluded spots if you live in them with your Pokemon, really."
"Oh no, we understand, it's actually great!" reassured Mallow, impressed. "You guys and your Pokemon sure had it lucky!"
"We lived in small areas, too, even if some of them aren't as isolated as this," added Lana.
"Have you decided with Professor Magnolia on how we'll all be staying?" asked Sophocles.
"I've extra rooms with you guys at my and Leon's place; our parents and grandparents will be more than happy to have visitors over and Lee will be more than happy to see you here. I won't be surprised if the professor gave Lee directions home after telling him even though he's terrible with them."
"You girls would be more than happy to stay with me if you like," offered Gloria.
"And, my Mum and I won't mind having you and Mr. Wong as our house guests, Sarah," replied Victor to Sarah.
"That's fine. I hope you two won't mind if you have another place for some of my Pokemon if they're not gonna fit in your house."
"Nah, you can have them sleep at the edge of the Slumbering Weald but we'd advise you and them to be careful not to go too far into the Weald," Victor warned.
"Why's that?" asked Ash, puzzled.
"It's usually foggy whenever somebody tries to go inside and look through it," said Gloria. "It's not a place you want to get lost in since the forest is pretty thick with all that mist you encounter as you go forward."
"We had to find Wooloo after he broke into the Slumbering Weald after we got our Pokemon but that's when the strangest thing happened to us and I still can't get my head around it," Hop added, scratching his head thoughtfully.
"What do you mean?" asked Lillie, curiously.
"Well, just after we got deeper into the Slumbering Weald to find Wooloo, I could've sworn we heard something like a pair of wolves howling in the mist. The howls echoed all around us and we didn't know what to do until the owners of the howls appeared."
"The weirdest thing about them is that they looked to be like Pokemon," put in Gloria thoughtfully. "Two Pokemon, actually; one of them had dark blue and red fur over its white body with a ponytail-like thing over its head and the other had cyan and pink fur over its own white body with the pink fur in braids and a pink tail, too."
"They looked like they had scars all over and the cyan and pink wolf had part of its left ear chopped off and the dark blue and red wolf had part of its right ear torn off," nodded Victor, scratching his chin in thought. "We tried to attack it if it posed a threat but our partners' attacks didn't make a dent and they just stared at us before we eventually blacked out when the fog thickened."
"What happened, then?" Kiawe asked curiously.
"Did you find out anything about those Pokemon?" put in Tsukumaro.
"...I don't know," Victor mused. "By the time we woke up, much of the fog had cleared and they just vanished when Leon found us."
"But, we did learn much about Galar's legends to decipher what they could be with Sonia's help," replied Gloria quickly. "It took us a while to figure out what they are but they could two of Galar's Legendary Pokemon but what kind of Pokemon they really are... We don't know, yet..."
"I'm sure if we have more clues on us, maybe Sonia can determine the history behind Galar's heroes during the Darkest Day and reveal who the heroes are," finished Hop in agreement before he smiled again. "But, enough about that, you want to see how we are against you guys as trainers before we get you all settled?"
"YEAH!" cried the gang excitedly.
"Let's see what you guys got," Sarah complied with a confident smile.
"Great! Lee and I have a battlefield at our place but we'll do our battles in the Slumbering Weald just to be safe."
Gloria and Victor nodded in agreement; it is the safest place for their new friends to do battle with them to see how strong they and their partners really are. So, that's what they did; without anybody nearby watching (which there aren't any, to the Galar trainers' relief), they all sneaked into the Slumbering Weald and the gang lets out their Pokemon to start battling in three groups against them.
The boys went off against Hop with the girls squaring off against Gloria and Victor facing off against Sarah.
Of course, the three Galar trainers were baffled when Sarah confirmed her total amount of 46 Pokemon by her side and they were greatly startled to see her having Nebby and so many Shinies on her as well as other Legendaries like Latios and Latias in her family. But, they eventually regained their composure as they, Rillaboom, Inteleon, and Cinderace prepared to fight.
While Ash, Kiawe, and Sophocles had Pikachu, Turtonator and Togedemaru going off against Rillaboom, Gloria and Inteleon faced off against Snowy, Tsareena, and Popplio. Victor and Sarah, on the other hand, decided to go with Cinderace and Blitz for their own battle.
"We should warn you, guys," warned Hop with a smirk. "We Galar trainers are not as wimpy as you might think."
"We've been training hard ever since we've started our journey and we've become some of the best in recent years," Gloria bragged knowingly.
"Rillaboom!" nodded Rillaboom, giving a daring smile towards his challengers.
"Intel!" added Inteleon as she prepared to attack.
"Just wait 'til you see how we do things in Alola!" Ash countered.
"Pika, Pika!" said Pikachu.
"We're no pushovers, too, with all the hard work we've been doing!" smirked Sophocles as he and Togedemaru got ready.
"We'll do our best and show you what we all are as Alola Pokemon trainers!" Lillie put in.
"Vul!" cooed Snowy in agreement.
"We'll let you and your friends make the first moves, Sarah!" smirked Victor.
"Cind!" agreed Cinderace, a challenging smirk on his face as well.
"All right, since you put it that way!" smiled Sarah with narrowed eyes. "Blitz, start off with Tackle!"
"Pika!" called Blitz, charging towards the Striker Pokemon.
"Cinderace, use Tackle as well!" countered Victor, causing his partner to meet Blitz and exchange tackles with him, sending them back towards their human trainers.
"Pikachu, use Thunderbolt!"
"Turtonator, use Flamethrower!"
"Togedemaru, Zing Zap!" the boys shouted, all starting to attack Rillaboom in full force.
"Rillaboom, use Screech and Drum Beating together! Then, use Knock Off!" Hop shouted.
"Rilla, BOOM!" screeched Rillaboom affirmatively as he began to bang on makeshift drums from his powers while screeching.
Pikachu, Turtonator, and Togedemaru's attacks met up with Rillaboom's Drum Beating but with the addition of Screech, he made it difficult for the three of them to land a solid hit as they took the brunt of the roots being sprouted and attacking despite Turtonator's resistance to Grass Type attacks. Togedemaru, especially, felt the brunt of it as the roots banged up by Drum Beating halted her Zing Zap and knocked her into Pikachu and Turtonator, canceling their attacks as they landed in a dog pile.
"AHH!" the boys gawked in shock.
But, Rillaboom wasn't done as he gave a sly smirk before he dashed forward and inflicted damage on them with his Dark Type attack. Normally, it would've knocked off an item off of each of them but that wasn't what Hop and Rillaboom cared about during their match since their opponents weren't carrying anything on them.
"Pikachu!" cried Ash, greatly bewildered.
"What the-?!"
"No way, that's a Triple Ability Combo!" gasped Kiawe and Sophocles as Pikachu, Turtonator, and Togedemaru got back up to continue fighting.
"Heh, I told you we Galar trainers aren't wimpy!" snarked Hop. "You're not the only ones who can think outside of the box, you know!"
"Snowy, use Powder Snow!" Lillie shouted.
"Vul...PIX!" blasted Snowy as she shot her Ice Type attack at Inteleon.
"Inteleon, go!" called Gloria, allowing her Secret Agent Pokemon to dodge Powder Snow through the trees and zipping on them to try and disorientate her opponents.
"She's fast!" gasped Lana.
"Then, we'll just have to catch her first!" replied Mallow. "Tsareena, use Sweet Scent and Magical Leaf!"
"Tsar-r-r-r-r-r-r-REENA!" bellowed Tsareena, the Fruit Pokemon using her combo attack to fire back at Inteleon, who smirked as she dodged each of her opponent's blows.
"We can't hit her!" gasped Mallow.
"She's too fast!" put in Lillie, gobsmacked.
"Popplio, try your Aqua Jet, go!" shouted Lana, allowing Popplio to surround herself with water and shoot towards the Secret Agent Pokemon.
"Inteleon, use Snipe Shot plus Pound! Draw Popplio in and send her flying back!" cried Gloria, narrowing her eyes after seeing her chance.
"Teleon!" smirked Inteleon again, eying Popplio as she goaded the Sea Lion Pokemon to keep attacking her as she dodged.
Then, when she was sure she had Popplio in her sights after making a last-second dodge to fool Lana's partner, which is what she wanted after seeing her bark in shock, Inteleon flipped to her and slammed her with her tail using Pound. But, she wasn't done yet as she also fired an accurate Snipe Shot at her, causing her to descend down towards Snowy and Tsareena, who flailed in a panicked surprise as they tried to catch her but they ended up being dogpiled as she crashed into them.
When the dust settled, Lana, Lillie, and Mallow gasped in shock at what they saw; their partners in a dogpile as they were pummeled from Popplio dropping down on them with such force and velocity from Inteleon's Snipe Shot and Pound combo attack. They all groaned as they managed to get up but were feeling themselves way off their game as Inteleon stood before her partner again.
"Pop, Pop, Poppli, Popplio?" groaned Popplio.
"Vul... Vul, Vulpix..." moaned Snowy, trying to endure the pain she's feeling.
"Tsareena, Tsar, Ree, Reena, Tsar!" encouraged Tsareena, not wanting to back down and causing Popplio and Snowy to share her determination to win.
"Leon, Intel, Teleon," dared Inteleon as they continued their battle.
"Your Pokemon are resilient and made out of stronger stuff than that, aren't they?" smirked Gloria, wanting a challenge.
"You and Inteleon aren't too shabby yourselves," Mallow smirked back. "We're not out of this game yet!"
Lana and Lillie both returned the smirk as well in certain agreement.
As for Victor and Sarah, they both looked to be evenly matched although Cinderace was slowly gaining an edge over Blitz as they continued to fight while her Pokemon family watched. Even her dragons, who were hiding out of sight either from the treetops or within the brush of the Slumbering Weald, were eager to see who would come out on top.
"Time to show them why you're called the Striker Pokemon, buddy!" Victor called to Cinderace. "Use Pyro Ball and knock them out of the ballpark!"
"Cind!" replied Cinderace, kicking up a nearby pebble and turning it into a flaming soccer ball.
With his signature move now at play, the fully-evolved Fire Type made his move as he kicked the ball and it streaked towards Blitz, who braced himself to take the Fire Type attack head-on.
"Pi Pika, Pikachu, Pika?" asked Blitz.
"I got one but it's crazy! Grab it with Electroweb!" exclaimed Sarah.
"HUH?!"
"CIND-?!" gawked Cinderace and Victor.
They watched in bewilderment as they saw Blitz prepare Electroweb and used it to catch the Pyro Ball as it continued to spin within the web, the Mouse Pokemon doing his best to hold onto it as he grunted and sweated from the strain of Pyro Ball's power.
"Now, throw it back at them like it's Electro Ball!"
"Pika, Pika, Pika, Pika, Pika, Pika...CHU-PI!"
With the ball now literally on his side, Blitz jumped into the air as he maintained Electroweb, spun around like a wheel, and then, released the Pyro Ball as it picked up some sparks from the Electric Type defense attack to make it look like a ball of electricity and fire.
"LOOK OUT, PARTNER!" gasped Victor.
Thinking quickly, Cinderace shot another Pyro Ball to counter the first one that Blitz countered and threw back in the nick of time before it could hit him. Sarah's own out-of-the-box thinking left them impressed as they hadn't expected that from the Sun Princess of Alola.
"How 'bout it?" Sarah smirked.
"Bloody hell, you got me there with that," chuckled Victor, still impressed.
"Get ready to eat my dust when we're through with you boys!"
"'Ey, going big, are we? Challenge accepted!"
With that, they continued their short battle to see who could topple who but as for the other two battles, they were eventually decided with Hop and Gloria preparing to make the final calls for Rillaboom and Inteleon as they had Pikachu, Togedemaru, Turtonator, Snowy, Tsareena, and Popplio on the ropes.
"They're too much for us!" Ash gasped in shock.
"I've never seen such resilience and power coming from Galar trainers like them!" agreed Kiawe, flabbergasted.
"Now, I know why Galar trainers can be real brutes and powerful in their own right," nodded Sophocles.
They weren't exaggerating as they noticed how worn out Pikachu, Turtnorator, and Togedemaru were becoming as they panted heavily; even though they did get several hits in, Rillaboom was no slouch when it comes to his own attack and defense prowess forcing them into a corner when they least expected it. He just kept taking every last blow delivered to him and even Turtonator's Flamethrower didn't land a big enough hit despite being Super Effective.
"Rillaboom and I had been expecting that Flamethrower among everything else you threw at us, Kiawe!" called Hop. "We've developed creative ways for him to endure all those attacks and now, he's nothing but a Drummer Pokemon tank even if you did punch through his armor! Rillaboom, drum away with Screech and Boomburst!"
"Rilla! Rilla...BOOM-BOOM-BOOM-BOOM-BOOM, BOOM-BO-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-OM!" screamed Rillaboom in agreement, the Drummer Pokemon banging his drums as he sent out powerful soundwaves through his playing and forcing his opponents to try to cover their ears or block out the noise but to no avail, as they were stuck where they are.
Finally, the noise became too much for them as they grew dizzy and worn out as they fainted on the spot, their eardrums almost completely ruptured.
"Turtonator!"
"Togedemaru!"
"Pikachu?!" cried the boys.
"You rock, you rule!" smirked Hop with a thumbs up, his partner happily returning it with his victory assured.
The girls were still not faring any better despite being proven as a challenge for Inteleon to some degree, Tsareena, Popplio, and Snowy being left worse for wear as they panted heavily as well. It was clear that they were struggling badly against the Secret Agent Pokemon's speed and agility, which made it harder for them to counter despite their brilliantly-executed teamwork.
"We gotta keep fighting or we'll never win!" Lillie grunted.
"We'll win, Lillie!" reassured Lana.
"That's right, we're not out of this fight yet!" agreed Mallow.
"Game over, girls!" shouted Gloria, her and Inteleon's victory being certain. "Inteleon, wrap things up and hang ten with Snipe Shot and Surf!"
"Inteleon...!" snarked Inteleon, keeping her smirk on her face as she rode on a wave and aimed for her opponents.
"TSAREE!" squeaked Tsareena in a panic, seeing the Secret Agent Pokemon's eye and signature attack on her, Popplio, and Snowy.
"Leon..." finished the Galar Water Starter as she shot in rapid succession at the three younger Pokemon.
Despite their best efforts to dodge, Snipe Shot saw their owner's aim well and struck them down as they were caught in the waves from Surf and were knocked out when they were hit. When Surf finally died down, Snowy, Tsareena, and Popplio were all seen with swirls for their eyes as they groaned, humiliated and beaten by their stronger Galar opponent.
"No way..."
"This can't be..."
"Aww, we lost..." groaned the Alola girls in dismay.
"Great job, Inteleon, still as sharp as ever!" commended Gloria, Inteleon winking at her for their victory.
Finally, Blitz and Cinderace were both battered and bruised as they prepared for one final clash against each other. They've been fighting at their full power with Victor and Sarah by their sides despite not gaining quarter nor gaining advantage throughout their entire scuffle.
"Your mouse is quite the speedster and a worthy adversary to my fire rabbit, Sarah!" smirked Victor, impressed.
"I could say the same about you and Cinderace!" retorted Sarah with a smile.
"Too bad we'll have to end this battle but I'm ready for us to show you our true power! Cinderace, full-powered Flame Charge, go!"
"Back at ya! Blitz, Thunderpunch plus Tackle!"
"PIKA!"
"CIND!" cried the two Pokemon, charging towards each other as they ran and picked up speed.
Blitz's right paw crackled with growing electricity as he ran while Cinderace became a flaming fireball as he sprinted. Finally, the two Alola/Galar partners met as the Mouse Pokemon jumped up and whomped the Rabbit Pokemon in the face but not without taking heavy damage from Flame Charge after feeling his fully-evolved friendly adversary slam at him. They both skidded back to their partners until they stared each other down for a few minutes, waiting to see who would fall first. The standoff was intense for both trainers and it looked as though nobody had won as Blitz suddenly knelt down on one knee, but then...
"Pi...Ka..."
"Cinder..."
The two Pokemon traded knowing and acknowledgeable smirks over their evenly matched strengths before they both fell, both of them battered, bruised, beaten, and humbled by one another. This left Sarah, her family, and Victor in completely stunned silence; the match had become a draw but despite that, Victor, Hop, Gloria, and their partners had won the best 2/3 between them and the entire group so as it stands, the three Galar trainers had won.
"I... I can't believe it..."
"Wow, bloody hell..." gasped the two trainers before they soon smiled.
"Well, it's a draw but it looks like I lost," admitted Sarah, taking what she saw as a loss in stride. "You and Cinderace are off the rim, Victor."
"And, you're not? You and Blitz had us on the ropes even if we managed to give you hot feet throughout our battle," retorted Victor, chuckling.
Sarah chuckled but then she gave a small frown as she looked away while Victor checked on his Fire Type partner. In truth, Sarah was honestly put down by the draw and it wasn't a lie when she said it was technically her loss; she never expected Victor and Cinderace to put up quite a fight and she truly felt like she met her next match. She didn't feel proud over having to beat Cinderace with Blitz by a tiny margin and it only served to put more pressure on her to get stronger to be ready against Lothor when she returns to Alola at the end of the week.
"That was crazy..." Sophocles breathed, still taken aback over his group's loss as they checked their partners over.
"I've never witnessed such ferocity and power from a Galar Pokemon like Rillaboom," agreed Kiawe, still fascinated by how Hop and Rillaboom eeked out their victory against them and Ash. "I thought we had it in the bag."
"Gee, Hop, you and Rillaboom are really strong," admitted Ash, rubbing his head sheepishly.
"What can I say? We got in the groove of it and we've gone through so much to become as strong as we are now," chuckled Hop with Rillaboom nodding in agreement as he twirled his branch-like drumsticks.
Even Gloria couldn't help but feel impressed by what she and Inteleon saw out of their three opponents despite winning their battle. "You girls didn't do so bad for Galar newbies from Alola," she congratulated as she gave Snowy, Popplio, and Tsareena Sitrus Berries.
"Yeah, but we still lost..." replied Mallow, still bummed out from losing.
"I thought we would show who how strong we really were but we can't even come close," admitted Lillie, feeling down from the loss.
"You all did brilliantly!" reassured Gloria. "You stood your ground even though you were nearly beaten! If that's not the true strength of Alola's trainers, I don't know what is!"
"You think so?" asked Lana.
"Right, even my friends and I weren't always like this, we had a rough start when we first began our journey."
"It's true. I'll admit, I wasn't expecting Blitz to hold himself even after the beating we've given him," agreed Victor as he and Cinderace stood before them as Rapidash and Ponyta used Healing Pulse on the two Pokemon.
"Yeah, I can see why you're the strongest out of all your friends in your class," added Hop as he and Rillaboom joined them. "Your friends didn't do so bad even though they still have a lot to learn."
"That's our princess," bragged Ash.
"Always thinking ahead of us even as we battle as a team," Kiawe agreed, smiling.
"I bet there's nobody that can stand a chance against her with how strong she and her family had gotten," said Sophocles smugly.
As the gang began to sing their praises to the Galar trainers and Sarah, the princess suddenly found herself gulping worriedly as her stomach lurched slightly. Even if they didn't know it, their good words about her and her family were unintentionally putting more pressure on her to do what she can to become the very best and defeat Lothor and Team Eclipse. She already had a lot on her plate to live up to and achieve but now, she has another thing she has to worry about after impressing Victor and his Cinderace with his and Blitz's impeccable teamwork.
It didn't help that she and Blitz were backed into a corner several times by Victor and Cinderace throughout their battle and she felt like she was out of her league against a few of Galar's best trainers despite her own training and that of her family's.
Tsukumaro kept silent after noticing this; he was hoping that the Galar trip would be able to take her mind off of the upcoming Alola League and Team Eclipse as well as the Poni Island Grand Trial but his hopes were dashed when he saw how stressed she was becoming the more she listened.
"Look, guys... I appreciate what you're saying but... I'm not the best after what happened," she said, finally speaking up. This caused the whole gang and the Galar trainers to gasp in shock and surprise at her.
Even everyone's Pokemon couldn't help but be gobsmacked by the little princess coming forward to admit that she's not as good as she was thought out to be. Not even the dragons, watching from their hiding spots could do anything to cheer her up unless they'd risk showing themselves to Victor, Hop, Gloria, and their partners.
She then turned to Ash, feeling exhausted from his over-glorification and constant praise of her, "Ash, don't start flouting my royal lineage to them. The last thing I want is all of Galar going GaGa at me like I'm a celebrity."
"You ARE royalty, Sarah, what's wrong with that? And, why go about saying you're not the best when you clearly are?"
"I've got a lot on my mind and what we've been through recently made me realize that I'm way off my depth. You saw how strong and how capable Victor, his best friends, and their partners are; Blitz and I barely made it out without losing but even so, we almost didn't stand a chance against Victor and Cinderace!"
"So? That means you're a strong trainer and you earned each other's respect, you should be proud of that!"
"How can you be so calm? Do you have any idea what it's like to have your back against the wall in any Pokemon battle as your Pokemon duke it out against other trainers and Pokemon who are smarter and stronger than you?"
By now, Ash's reassurance and constant praise, despite being so genuine, was really starting to irk Sarah and was making her even more aggravated. The others watched on worriedly as Ash and Sarah started having their first squabble in a while, not wanting to interfere so as to add more fuel to the fire.
"I'm just saying it 'cause it's the truth!" Ash snapped. "You may not realize it but you're still the best out of all of us! You've never once let a loss get you down so much even after it's put you and your Pokemon through life and death, you're still strong!"
"By that, you mean I was lucky enough to be alive and so are my Pokemon?" grumbled Sarah to the Kanto trainer.
"You and your family had been through too much to call it quits! Look at my team and I, we never claimed to be better than anyone else out of arrogance! We've been through so much and no matter how many times we lost, we continued to work hard to be the very best in my dream to become a Pokemon Master! Look, you guys always came out on top many times, too!"
"If you were working hard to become a Pokemon Master then, why do you continue to make questionable decisions as a trainer even though you've been through a lot in your time?"
"Oh, come on! Name one time!"
"I've got more than that from what you told us about your travels, Ash," replied Sarah, growing tired of Ash's misplaced reassurance. "How about your idea to use Charizard in your final match against Richie and Sparky at the Indigo League while he was still thinking little of you and testing your worthiness as a trainer which led to you losing and being in the Top 16?"
Ash blushed, remembering how his final first battle with Richie and his Pikachu partner, Sparky, went horribly wrong. "Oh... Oh, yeah, that did go wrong," he admitted.
"But, what about when you managed to hold your ground against Race while you were battling him, Robbie, Rama, and Ella during the school's 20th-anniversary field trip?"
"That was a draw, you idiot! Nebby, Silvally, Blitz, and I barely beat them by the skin of our teeth! And, what about the many times when you would charge into battle head-on without even taking into account your failed strategy of Pokemon Type Ignorance?"
"Hey! At least, I learned from my mistakes when doing that, it turned out all right most of the time when my Pokemon and I beat our opponents! What about when you and your Pokemon fought against Kaito after he crossed over from his universe to ours?"
"I lost three battles in a row before winning only one against him and his Pokemon! The way they pummeled us had hit it home to me that there are other trainers better than me!" snapped Sarah back at him.
"But, you still held out against him! You did very well against Hala and Olivia and even Nanu throughout your Grand Trials and you've never let what they said to throw you all off your game get through to you!"
"Yeah, right! You've had it rough just as much as I had when it came to your gym battles, especially with how you fared against Nanu before Dusk and Lycanroc snapped us out of our stupor after you blew your top when he goaded you as he did! And, out of everything you told us about your adventures, who couldn't forget the hothead who accused a wild Darkrai of causing trouble at Alamos Town in the Sinnoh Region and wanted to pummel him like there was no tomorrow over something as a warning about Dialga and Palkia in the form of a nightmare from Dark Void until he died that one time to save the town?"
Ash gasped in shock and fumed before he eventually wilted in aggravation and defeat, Sarah did have a point when she mentioned Darkrai; he once thought that the wild Nightmare Pokemon during his, Brock, and Dawn's little adventure in Alamos Town with their new friends, Alice and Tonio, was responsible for a lot of trouble that's been going on and he was super close to wanting to give him a beating after Darkrai tried to warn him about the Sinnoh Deities. But, in his haste and anger towards him, the Kanto Trainer had been too quick to judge him until they uncovered the truth behind the incidents going on at that time.
"Aww, who are you kidding...? Sorry," he sighed heavily. "But, you gotta admit, you're still a great trainer and you and your family can take on anybody-"
"I could do that if my opponents don't hammer it in on me in a way that'll make me worse as a trainer with what I'm doing despite winning!"
"Now, Sarah, don't get crazy-"
"LEAVE ME ALONE!" bellowed Sarah, finally snapping as she ran deeper into the Slumbering Weald.
"Sarah, wait!" called Ash.
"Wait, Sarah, come back! It's too dangerous to go down there!" warned Victor, reaching after her.
"Sarah!"
"What's the big idea?!" gawked Gloria and Hop in surprise and shock.
"Pika!" cried Blitz in horror as he tried to catch up.
But, it was too late; Sarah was already running too far ahead in her angst, anger, and doubts as tears streamed from her eyes until she disappeared, forcing him to stop and coo sorrowfully as Riolu and Mai comforted him. Their family and the others sighed sadly as they watched; the whole ordeal and argument between the princess and Ash had become too much for her and she cracked under the pressure as a result.
Ash couldn't do anymore as he sighed heavily and became filled with sorrow as he made things worse between him and Sarah, silently crying as his partner, fully healed thanks to Ponyta and Rapidash, could only nuzzle him worriedly.
"Pika-Pi...?" asked the Kanto Mouse Pokemon.
"Hmm..." sighed Tsukumaro sadly.
He knew things had been going so well for his goddaughter ever since the Galar trip was announced and after arriving but in light of what he and the others heard and recalling his previous conversation with her, he could tell she was still too young to comprehend her future duties as of now and would take a lot of time to wrap her head on what she has to do and prepare for regarding her latest and next challenges.
After she left them in the dust, Sarah continued to run deeper and deeper into the most secluded part of the Slumbering Weald, still angered from Ash's genuine but misplaced reassurance. In her haste to leave for a little time of her own, she took the Sun Sword from Mudsdale's saddle and ran off without even knowing she had it in her grasp again. The little princess was frustrated from what Ash was trying to tell her while she recalled every victory and loss she, her family, and the others had including her biggest ones from Lothor and Ivanka as well as Kaito.
Her losses against them and what laid ahead of her still lingered in her mind and head as she cried and grunted, trying to blot them out.
She was so lost in her agonizing anger and conflicted thoughts that she tripped over a hidden tree root and fell down on the ground as she continued to cry, pounding the ground several times to let out her frustrations more. She was in too much internal pain and suffering to even feel the external pain from her fall.
At this point, even if there were any other nearby Pokemon who heard her cries and felt sorry for her, she didn't care what they thought. All she wanted to do was to get away from the pain of being the lost Sun Princess and become a normal girl/Pokemon trainer without having to deal with the dangers and responsibilities coming her way.
Sarah knew what she was in for after she and her friends accepted being Power Rangers and after she found out about her lost royal lineage but at times, she wished that she could turn back the clock and live out more moments of being a normal Pokemon trainer and a girl so she can never deal with Team Eclipse and her deranged uncle again and everything would be hunky-dory for her and her friends. But now, it looked as though she could never get the chance.
The pressure from everything she and her family were working hard for up to this point was too much for her and now, she felt like she was too weak of a trainer and a person to even begin considering becoming her royal self and save her birth parents. She had been reduced to a broken wreck as she continued to sob her heart out, now not knowing if she would be capable of proving herself as a great trainer and the Sun Princess.
It seemed like she was alone for the moment but while she was sobbing her heart and frustrations out, she had no idea that Katzenberg, Glam, Hammer, and Fester, all of whom were still following and eavesdropping on her and her family and friends, looking at her in her greatest moment of vulnerability so far. They were taking great pride in seeing Sarah wither in her sorrow and frustrations after seeing her and Ash at each other's throats.
But, Sarah also didn't notice Winter and the other dragons approaching her from their hiding places as they were now far away from Victor, Hop, and Gloria's eyes and they were alone for the time being despite Katzenberg and his lackeys still eavesdropping on them.
Realizing that their rider was going through an extreme process of inner turmoil, they know better than to get her attention and question her as they kept close to her, the Light Fury gently nuzzling the princess as she gently warbled and laid down beside her.
This finally got Sarah to look at her as she continued to sob, now hugging her first dragon as they stayed together until she was ready to return to the others. Their peaceful moment together didn't last long though as Katzenberg, Glam, Fester, and Hammer finally appeared as they chuckled darkly, making the dragons growl at them.
"Poor child," mocked Katzenberg, spooking Sarah as Winter held her protectively. "Poor sweet child..."
"She has a very serious problem," snarked Hammer. "If only there was something we could do..."
"But, there is something or rather, someone who can help you..." added Glam, sneering at the princess.
This irked the dragons as they continued to leer dangerously at the Team Eclipse members, daring them to try anything at them and Sarah, especially. Sarah grew worried as she reached for her sword to draw it while Winter remained close to her to keep her from being taken.
"W-w... Why are you here?" she questioned.
"Don't be scared. We represent a familiar figure you've been fighting against," hissed Fester devilishly. "Someone whom you may know who can wish all of your troubles away... Just imagine, you without the responsibilities of a princess and just you and your Pokemon..."
"A normal girl, forever..." the villains finished.
"I... I don't understand..."
"Lothor, during his and our time away from this world, has obtained and learned new great powers..." sneered Katzenberg.
Sarah was shocked as she realized exactly who Katzenberg and his goonies with him were talking about. They were talking about her fallen uncle and her parents' lost brother/brother-in-law and who betrayed them and the last Alolan Royal Family forever for his own gain: Lothor.
"My uncle...? Why, that's... I couldn't possibly... If I become a normal girl again, I'll never see Solar, Dialga, Palkia, Rayquaza, Cresselia, my adopted parents, my friends, my family... How could I, can he do-?"
Sarah started to contemplate and then think the offer the villains made for her through and she was about to accept it when she noticed her family's sword starting to shimmer in a warning fashion as if to remind her of what she's about to do. It even reminded her that she still had a job to do and she was still connected with King Doug and Queen Delilah despite what Katzenberg and his goons would think.
The little princess soon realized what she nearly fell for as she caught on that their enemies' sweet talk was another trap for her to fall in just so they can get her to her deranged uncle and be destroyed, leaving all of Alola his for the taking.
"...No! I'll never trust him in my life! Get out of here, leave me alone!" she spat at them, finally drawing her sword as she began to fight with her dragons by her side.
Katzenberg and his goons just chuckled darkly, deadly smirks forming on their faces as the Embodiment of Wrath summoned Spiritomb, who was now looking stronger than ever since their first clash with them during the Buzzwole incident. Things even got worse for Sarah and her dragons as several Poke-Mechas appeared and looked ready to pummel her by their master's command and even Glam, Fester, and Hammer brought forth their own Pokemon partners in the form of a Gumshoos, a Crobat, and a Grumpig.
"Suit yourself, kid. That was only a suggestion," mocked Katzenberg again, snapped his fingers and signaling his army to attack as they surrounded their foes.
Just as they were about to attack, however, Melody began emitted his Death Song melodic call the rest of their family and their friends for help but not before a strange fog rolled in moments after, catching everybody's attention and forcing the Death Song to eventually stop.
"Hey, what gives?!" gawked Fester.
"What's with the pea soup, I don't recall Galar weather being this foggy," remarked a surprised Glam.
"Something's fishy here and I don't mean my socks," put in Hammer.
"Princess, you better not try anything funny! What are you doing?!" snarled Katzenberg, not looking where things are going right now.
"I'm not doing anything!" retorted Sarah as she looked around.
The dragons didn't know what to make of the strange fog either as they looked around anxiously and huddled together with Winter and Sarah, hoping to not get separated if they are forced to fight.
But, their worries were only amplified as they heard what sounded like two loud yet eerie wolves' howls, echoing around the Slumbering Weald and making everybody feeling antsy as if they were in the presence of two other figures living in the weald without their knowledge.
"Uh, Boss, didn't you tell us earlier that nobody was supposed to be in this weald besides us?"
"Like anybody besides the princess, her family, friends, and their Pokemon?"
"Or, even those giant lizards?" quivered, Glam, Hammer, and Fester.
"I always mean what I blab to you, you blithering rattletraps!" groaned Katzenberg before the eerie howls rang again, forcing him to whirl around for the owners. "Where are you, you meddling brats?! You don't scare me, I'm the Embodiment of Wrath! Show yourselves before I get angry!"
Silver warbled worriedly as the howls rang up for a third time, making her shiver as she inched herself closer to the group. Twilight and Dawn, especially, couldn't help but snuggle closer to their parents as they nuzzled the young Deathgrippers to soothe them, even if they also couldn't help feeling uneasy by the howls that rang.
Thinking it would be another enemy coming to put them out of their misery, Shadow and the other dragons prepared themselves to fight from all sides with Winter continuing to protect Sarah as best she can as she listened carefully for the howls.
Finally, the sound of what could be some paws on the ground started to be heard as everyone turned to who or what could have finally appeared before them. To their shock and bewilderment, the villains, Sarah, and her dragons found two large wolves looking like Pokemon in front of them, eying the group before turning their gaze towards the princess and the dragons.
The first wolf Pokemon had cyan fur coupled with yellow eyes, a pink tail, and pink, flowing ethereal braids going down both sides of its body. Two pink fringes of fur are present on its back and several battle scars are visible on its body from both sides with one noticeable on its head while part of its left ear looked like it was cut off.
The second wolf Pokemon had magenta fur with yellow eyes but with a bulkier frame, coupled with a fancy ponytail on top of its head. Its forelimbs, tail, and ponytail are all a deep shade of navy blue and its body is also covered in battle scars but unlike the first Pokemon, with part of its right ear missing. What sets it apart from its Pokemon counterpart is that its head and neck have thick fur, resembling a large, sturdy shield.
"Lrrroooaaarrrd!"
"Gugyaagogugu!" the two Pokemon howled again.
"AH, IMPOSSIBLE!" gasped Katzenberg, absolutely jaw-dropped.
"DEMON WOLVES!" shrieked Hammer, Glam, and Fester in a panic as they hugged each other.
"Spiritomb, teach those meddlers a lesson!" barked Katzenberg, commencing his Forbidden Pokemon to use Shadow Ball on the wolf-like Pokemon.
But then, the strangest thing happened; as soon as a pair of Shadow Balls were fired, they managed to hit the Pokemon intruders but everyone was thrown for an absolute loop when they did virtually no damage on the newcomers.
"GHOST WOLVES!?" shrieked Glam, Hammer, and Fester again, now more spooked than ever.
"They're not ghosts, you dumbots, they must be-! Wait... This fog, the way they just blocked off Spiritomb's Shadow Balls, the way they look! H-how, you can't be-! Then, you're, you're really-?!" gawked Katzenberg before he slowly snarled.
"...Oh, now I get it, I see what Lothor meant when he clued us in on you two... What those idiots we questioned about the Darkest Day and who saved this land's inconceivable yet gullible fools said was nothing but lies! Weak and inferior humans were not responsible for defeating the Gigantic Pokemon all those years ago, it was you two all along! You're the ones, the true defenders of the Galar Region: Zacian and Zamazenta!"
Sarah and her dragons gasped in shock as they whirled around to the Warrior Pokemon; the princess remembered Hop, Gloria, and Victor telling her and the others about two strange Pokemon they met soon after beginning their journey after Wooloo went into the Slumbering Weald. Then, after finding his Sheep Pokemon and meeting them, they tried to attack them thinking that they were a threat until they lost consciousness in the same fog they were in.
She even recalled how they learned much about Galar's history and the legend of the Darkest Day with Sonia's help but they haven't found any new leads since they only know the ones who truly saved Galar from the region's darkest and deadliest hour. She was now starting to wonder after putting two and two together just as Katzenberg had, could Zacian and Zamazenta have been the ones who saved Galar all this time?
The two Warrior Pokemon glared at the intruders who dared to trespass upon their domain and threaten to hurt Sarah and her dragons and howling loudly, the true heroes of Galar created more mist before their heads turned to steel and they shot forward, destroying the Poke-Mechas after they charged at them and then slamming into Katzenberg and his goons.
The force of the blows from Zacian and Zamazenta was so great and they moved so fast that they and their Pokemon partners didn't have time to react before they were booted out of the Slumbering Weald and into another part of the Galar Region far away from their dwelling.
"We're not Team Rocket but it looks like-"
"WE'RE BLASTING OFF!" cried Glam, Fester, and Hammer.
"I...HATE...THAT...PRINCESS!" screamed Katzenberg as they twinkled out of sight, knowing they'll be back.
"Wow..." breathed Sarah, left in stunned silence as she watched Zacian and Zamazenta turn to her, their calm eyes piercing back at her.
The little princess was left in so much shock and overwhelmed from seeing Galar's true heroes save her from Team Eclipse and having now known the truth about them, she utterly fainted on the spot, much to the dragons' worry as they warbled at her, trying to wake her up. Seeing the true heroes of Galar had proven too much for her.
"Ruff..." put in Zacian, telling the dragons that their rider just fainted.
Winter warbled her thanks for saving them but was also concerned as to why they were here. Zacian and Zamazenta looked at each other, the Warrior Pokemon brothers being in mental discussion with each other before they looked at Sarah again and noticed her Sun Sword. They eyed it carefully before they nodded to each other and turned back to the dragons.
"Bowoof!" said Zamazenta, directing Winter, Shadow, and the others to follow them as they went off.
Now, wanting answers and not wanting to be left behind, the dragons followed with Melody carefully carrying the downed princess after she, Winter, and Echo gently lifted her onto her back.
The dragons wanted to ask where Zacian and Zamazenta were taking them but they didn't want to question them in case they wouldn't give them a straight answer or if they would somehow touch a nerve.
Finally, after walking deeper into the Slumbering Weald, they came across an altar near a lake.
The majestic-looking altar looked decrepit and old as weeds had grown in several parts of it and the stone arch appeared to be broken with some parts of it chipped off over time. A river spanned from the lake adjacent to the path on the right from the left side as it flowed to the rest of Galar. At the center of the altar below the arch, there was a gravestone with two small mountain-like humps behind it in the middle of the lake but what was strange about them was the sight of three rusty objects sitting in front of the gravestone.
While Zacian and Zamazenta stood back to let the dragons look around the place, Melody and Echo gently set Sarah down as Starfire, Shadow, Camo, Winter, and Inferno looked at the old objects. The first one on the left looked like a sword but it hadn't been used in years and the blade was reduced to a small stub as found in many retractable Tai Chi swords. The other two objects looked like old medieval shields but while the shield in the middle is more circular with red rust on the edges while being small enough for someone to use it with no restriction of movement, the other shield also had red rust on the edges but it had four large chips across it.
Shadow carefully sniffed the items before him and the other dragons, feeling something was off about them, like some sort of strange essence is permeating from the sword and shields.
The Night Fury noticed that while in the presence of the Warrior Pokemon, the sword and second shield seemed to glow and rattle a little as if they were responding to the presence of Zacian and Zamazenta. He was also surprised to see his rider's Sun Sword glowing when he noticed it shimmering from its scabbard again but in turn, the first shield started to glow and rattle as well in response to it.
The dragons were all taken aback and they swiftly turned to Zacian and his brother, immediately warbling for answers from the Galar Legendaries about the sword and the shields.
"Arroo..." replied Zacian.
The cyan and pink Warrior Pokemon reassured them about the strange weapons, telling them that the sword and second rusted shield belonged to them and that the first shield is something that Sarah will come into contact with in due time.
Zamazenta nodded in agreement, adding that the first shield was something that once belonged to a royal family in the Alola Region but had been lost ever since the Alolan Royal Hierarchy was abolished and it somehow landed in Galar following the end of the Ultra Beast War.
They also mentioned that the sword and shield they used were what became of their powers after they managed to defeat the Gigantic Pokemon, Eternatus, 4,000 years ago during the original Darkest Day. After using up all their power, they returned to the Slumbering Weald to rest in peace after they lost their powers following the fated battle and were never heard from again until now.
This threw the dragons for a loop since they've been listening in on the conversation from their hiding places between their rider and the others about Hop, Victor, and Gloria's first encounter with Zacian and Zamazenta as well as Sonia's research into the truth of Galar's history with what she shared to the Galar trainers.
Zacian and Zamazenta just nodded in affirmation to what they've told the dragons before they howled again, sending in more of the fog they've appeared from and slowly causing the dragons to be put to sleep. The Warrior Pokemon then looked towards the sleeping Sarah as her Sun Sword continued to shimmer in the dense fog, allowing Zacian to gently nuzzle her.
Then, even though she was still asleep, Zacian gently told the little princess through Telepathy, "We'll see you again, Little Bird..."
With that, they both soon vanished in a bright light which made them disappear and send Sarah and her dragons a short distance away from the Altar to a small bridge spanning the same river flowing from the lake that was now known as Zamazenta and Zacian's resting place.
Sarah and the dragons were still asleep, all of them out cold from what they had just gone through and with the jaw-dropping experience of seeing Zacian and Zamazenta engraved into their minds. Slowly but surely, the dragons began to wake up until they gasped in surprise and shock to see them away from the Warrior Pokemon's altar and with the two Heroes of Many Battles nowhere to be found.
They had no idea what became of their saviors until they heard several worried and frantic voices calling out to them and Sarah. They all turned and there, coming towards them and out of the fog were the rest of their family, the Galar trainers and their partners, and Ash and the others as they continued to call out to them and their rider.
"Sarah!"
"Are you there?"
"Hey, Sarah! Where'd you go?"
"Winter, Shadow!"
"Guys!"
"Hey, look!" cried the Alola and Kanto trainers.
"There they are!" gasped Hop as he, Gloria, and Victor immediately went to them with the Alola gang and Sarah's Pokemon family and Solar following.
They were all relieved to see the dragons and Sarah safe and sound after they heard Melody's call for help but they were most surprised to find Sarah asleep after fainting from seeing Zacian and Zamazenta save them from Team Eclipse even if the gang didn't know it yet.
As they quickly took her back to Hop, Gloria, and Victor's houses and out of the Slumbering Weald, with Poipole and Skitty trying to wake their human mother up, Zacian and Zamazenta appeared from behind the trees out of sight as they watched the Sun Princess being taken to recover from her ordeal and the shock of seeing them in the flesh.
"You felt it, too, right Zam?" asked Zacian as they watched.
"I do, that girl is strong... Just like those three we saw a long time ago but she's different from them," nodded Zamazenta.
"We'd best watch over her, it's clear she'll be of great help if that shield is anything to go by."
"You mean her AND them, Zash. Don't forget the first three we met."
Zacian nodded, "Yes... I can't put my paw nail on it yet... But, I know that like those kids, she's truly destined for greatness but she doesn't see it yet through her fears and doubts."
"Indeed, I'm worried that her self-loathing because of her lineage will hinder her progress and leave her open for those vile creatures who tried to kill her and those oddball dragons."
"But, as long as she has her friends and that menagerie of a family by her side, along with them, she'll be made a real hero like us. Especially since I have a feeling that history will repeat itself soon, very soon..."
With their mutual agreement over Sarah, the two Heroes of Many Battles turned back towards their resting place and disappeared in the growing fog, once again becoming nothing more than legends, for now...
As they disappeared, at their altar, along with the Rusted Sword and the Rusted Shield belonging to them both, the strange shield started glowing again but through several pulses like the beating of a heart. It seems as though being near her family's sword had a profound effect on it after the princess was brought to the deepest part of the Slumbering Weald and little do Sarah, her friends, and her entire family know that another lost part of her family's lineage will reveal itself in due time before an inevitable battle will throw Galar into the depths of terror once more for a brief time or so. Only then, would Sarah understand the full weight of what would be demanded from her in her long-overdue role as the Sun Princess and a hero to all despite her insecurities and fears...
"With doubts and fears for the future and her inevitable final showdown with Lothor and Team Eclipse plaguing her mind and heart, it looks as though Sarah has, unfortunately, hit her biggest roadblock so far. But, following the strange and mysterious meeting with Zacian and Zamazenta, what new mysteries about them and the Galar Region await our heroes as the journey continues...?"
