Chapter 41: An Explosive Finish

Cobalt grunted as he tumbled back across the wooden floor, sliding to a stop and jumping back up onto his feet. "Damn!"

His opponent, a large blob-like Pokémon called a Reuniclus, charged up twin Psybeams and launched them at Cobalt, who rolled to the left to dodge and sprinted forward. He did a flip to dodge an anticipated Future Sight attack that tore up the ground, slamming his flaming leg down on top of the Reuniclus' head. "Hell Wheel!"

The opponent recoiled, before rearing back and smacking him away with one of its large arms. He turned his fall into a roll, before having to leap away again as the Reuniclus slammed its arms down where he had been standing.

The floor rumbled as a Psyshock blasted towards him, only for Angel to Teleport in front of him and block the attack with a wave of her psychic energy. "Thank you very much, Angel!" Cobalt smirked and took the opportunity, using Bullet Punch to speed forward and knock Reuniclus back.

"Allow me." With a wave of her hand, Angel wrapped the opposing Pokémon in her Telekinesis, pulling it back towards Cobalt which let him unleash a Close Combat battered the Reuniclus into near-unconsciousness. Floating back up, it quickly used Recover before Cobalt smashed his foot into its gel-like body with enough force to send it flying towards Angel.

A Moonblast crashed into Reuniclus' gel body, finally knocking it out. "Reuniclus is unable to battle, please return your Pokémon!"

As the Trainer recalled his Psychic-Type, Sapphire pointed at a sleeping Drapion, put to sleep by Angel with a Hypnosis attack so she could assist Cobalt. "They're waking up, finish them before they do!" Angel nodded and launched another Moonblast towards the massive scorpion.

The Drapion, though still half-asleep, managed to use Iron Defense and shrug off the Fairy-Type attack thanks to its now steel carapace, and clicked its mandibles cockily. Angel just blankly stared at the Pokémon before stepping aside, letting Cobalt speed past and slam a Force Palm into Drapion's face. It yelped at the surprise attack before Angel teleported in front of it and unleashed a burst of light from a Dazzling Gleam orb she had formed between her hands.

It staggered backward in pain and confusion as it was blinded, and Cobalt leaped over Angel's head to bring his foot down in a spin, slamming the scorpion into the ground. When it impacted, a Future Sight planted by Angel erupted and managed to knock Drapion onto its back, where it scrambled around, unable to right itself. "Don't let them recover, hit them with Dazzling Gleam!"

"Alrig-"

"Drapion, surround yourself with a wave of Toxic!" It aimed its head up and belched out a sea of poisonous liquid, which began splashing down and spreading out. Angel took a step away before Cobalt stepped down and slashed through the liquid with a Metal Claw, using his immunity to part the poison.

"My turn to be the shield, I guess!"

When the Drapion quit spewing poison, Cobalt jumped back and prepared an Aura Sphere, while Angel charged a Moonblast, which they unleashed at the same time. The orbs exploded against Drapion's body and knocked it unconscious, which the referee confirmed with a wave of his flags and a call to the Trainer to recall it.

"Alright!" Sarah high-fived Sapphire, who just nodded at her as he held up his hand to let her do so. "I think we're nearing the top of the tree, so the last battle of the tournament will probably be up there!"

"It'd certainly give us more room to fight."

"Maybe they'll finally let us use Z-Moves up there. I mean, I'm assuming that we can't use them inside or on the platforms on the side of the tree since most of them would absolutely tear up the Battle Tree."

Angel shook her head, "Even on top of it, most Z-Moves could devastate it. Black Hole Eclipse, Supersonic Skystrike, Inferno Overdrive, all of them would cause obscene amounts of damage."

"I can't even imagine what an Acid Downpour would do to the tree and the surrounding area." They let the referee heal their Pokémon for the next battle, and began ascending towards the next arena. "Wonder how Anthony's doing…"

"Is that the friend you came with?"

"More like he dragged me here, but yeah. How do you think your boyfriend's doing?"

"Moon? He's probably doing fine, his Pokémon are pretty tough!"

They entered the next arena, this one on the side of the tree which let them breathe in some fresh air. Sapphire looked over the edge of the arena as they waited for their opponents to arrive to try and see how far up they were and was surprised to see they were already a few stories off the ground. He hadn't thought they had gone that far up and quickly stepped back.

"Datatata! Be ready to face our might!" He internally groaned and turned to find Anthony and his teammate standing on the opposite side of the arena. "Sapphire! Blonde chick next to him! Prepare to face our wrath!" Well, Anthony was standing, he had a girl with light-blue hair held over his shoulder.

"Why exactly are you carrying your teammate like that?"

"Eh, she was arguing with me about how I shouldn't have my Pokémon accidentally attack her own with moves like Discharge and stuff, but she's so short that I just carried her to quiet her down." Cobalt facepalmed at the explanation while Sarah just blinked in confusion. His teammate didn't look happy about that at all, and once he placed her down she adjusted her white dress to get rid of several of its wrinkles.

"Can we just get on with the battle already?"

"Is your friend always like that?"

"Unfortunately."

They all took their positions, and the referee raised her flags. "Trainers, send out your Pokémon!"

"Burn them away, Spirit."

"Angel, Show your strength!"

"IQ, enlighten us!"

"Shatter them, Tusk!"

His Rapidash popped out onto the battlefield, while Angel stepped forward, and on the opposite side of the field Anthony sent out his Metang, while the girl next to him released a massive mammoth-like Pokémon with brown colored fur, and tan, white, and blue fur around its face, and massive tusks.

"Hey Volt, scan 'em."

Volt jumped out of Anthony's back pocket and beeped at him from across the battlefield. "Zzt, Mamoswine, the Twin Tusk Pokémon! Itzz dangerouzz tuskzz are formed of ice, and the lower the temperature, the larger and stronger they get."

"Don't give away information to the enemy, Volt!" The Rotom shrugged and flew back into Anthony's pocket, while the girl at his side sighed.

"Begin!" At his call, IQ immediately held its hands close together and condensed psychic energy, before launching it forward. Angel created a Light Screen to protect them and blocked most of the attack before Spirit galloped through it and wreathed herself in flame as she charged at IQ.

To stop her charge, Tusk slammed his foot onto the ground, opening portals through which boulders of ice fell through. Spirit scrambled to stop, managing to just barely not crash into them and instead turn, using Flame Charge to enhance her speed and try and attack IQ from a different angle.

"Angel, toss the ice!"

As Spirit sped up, Angel followed Sarah's orders and grabbed the boulders telekinetically and lifted them, tossing them at Tusk. The Mamoswine lowered its head and charged, smashing through the ice with ease and aiming to use Take Down on Angel. She Teleported out of the way, wrapping several of the leaves around them in psychic energy and launching them at Tusk as a Magical Leaf attack.

They swirled around and began cutting into Tusk before he turned and blasted Icicle Spears at her, causing Angel to fire a Psybeam and destroy one, then fire another to break a second, before having to Teleport as more Icicle Spears than she could shatter speared into the ground where she had stood. She appeared behind IQ as it defended against Spirit's Flame Charge with a Protect, launching a Psychic at its unprotected back.

Just before the attack impacted, Anthony cupped his hands around his mouth. "IQ, spin and strike, quick!" IQ grunted, the shield dropping as it turned and launched a Meteor Mash at such speed that Angel couldn't dodge, and she was sent flying back along the ground. Spirit tried to take advantage of IQ's open back, only for Tusk to launch a Blizzard at her. She slowed to a stop as her body began freezing over, her legs locking up as they were covered in ice.

As Spirit was frozen in place, Anthony's partner snapped her fingers. "Tusk, Bulldoze the frozen Rapidash."

"Oh my, now that's rather ruthless, Maria-san! Have some heart for the poor, frozen Pokémon!" Sapphire could clearly see the blond's partner, apparently named Maria, try to restrain herself from smacking Anthony for his teasing tone.

"Spirit, heat up your body!"

Spirit began flaring her flames, bathing the arena in a bright blue glow, while Tusk lowered his head and charged. Spirit grunted as she tried to make her fire burn hotter to melt the flame off her body, but was unable to do so in time. Tusk crashed directly into her and sent her flying, nearly off the edge of the arena, and she was only stopped by the railing around the platform. She got back up and shook herself out, throwing the droplets of water that had formed from the melted ice as she snorted out smoke.

"Alright, IQ, let's send them flying with HYPER BEAM!"

Sapphire blinked. "Anthony, I've never taught IQ Hyper Beam." IQ began gathering energy in the form of a sphere. "Goddamnit, when the hell did you teach IQ Hyper Beam?"

Anthony grinned and held up a Technical Machine. "Technology!"

"I despise you."

"Angel, Wish!" Angel jumped away from Tsuk as it attempted to blast her with several icicles, placing her hands together and glowing as she made her Wish. Spirit dashed to the side, just barely avoiding the main beam, but was still struck by the shockwave and the blast. She tumbled across the battlefield and IQ sagged, exhausted, while Tusk charged.

Spirit attempted to get back up on wobbly legs before the Wish was granted and she felt energy fill her. Her wounds healed and she immediately used Agility, dodging Tusk's Double Edge attack, before spinning and dashing after Tusk. "Horn Drill!"

Tusk skid to a stop, but was unable to turn in time before Spirit slammed her elongated horn into his body, a burst of energy exploding out of them. "Avalanche!" Boulders of ice, larger than the ones that had fallen near the beginning of the battle crashed through portals that Tusk had opened with a slam of his leg, crushing himself and Spirit beneath them. Cobalt winced at the sight. "Now that had to have hurt."

"Get those boulders off them, Angel!"

The ice was quickly lifted away or shattered, revealing the two knocked out Pokémon, Spirit's flames weakly flickering and Tusk lying on his side. "Mamoswine and Rapisdash are unable to battle! Trainers, send out your next Pokémon!"

"Horn Drill is too powerful," Maria sighed as she recalled her Mamoswine.

"You're just a tad upset that your Pokémon got knocked out before mine," Anthony smirked.

"Cobalt, go get-" Sapphire was suddenly cut off when an explosion caused the platform they stood on to rumble, and smoke began rising from the ground below. Everyone turned to look and saw people running from some unseen people or Pokémon, more explosions following them.

"What's going on?" Anthony ran to look over the edge with him, his teasing and light-hearted tone completely gone in favor of a serious one.

"I don't know." He bit his lip in thought, looking at how far down the ground was. "Cobalt, could you take that drop?"

"Easily." Cobalt placed his paw on the edge of the platform and leaped down.

"Volt, go with him and help out if he needs it." His Rotom buzzed from within its Rotomdex and shot after Cobalt, while he looked at the referee. "I'm guessing that the tournament is going to be stopped with whatever's going on down there?"

"It's very likely, yes," she answered.

"Good, so that means we aren't being disqualified by going down to help!" Anthony grinned and ran towards the staircase, with the rest of the Trainers following.

Cobalt landed hard, cracking the ground slightly due to the weight created by his metal bones. He looked around and saw one of the officials that had been sitting behind the desks hiding just within the doorway of the Battle Tree itself. "What's going on?"

The official was startled by the fact that he had spoken in a way they could understand, before pointing at the gateway that led to the Poni Wilds. "O-Out there, some kind of Pokémon was blowing everything up! But our Pokémon were barely doing anything to it!"

He nodded, before turning to sprint in the direction indicated. Volt flew down next to him as he ran, waving a metal limb. "Zzt, Volt, ready to assist!"

"Good to have you, buzz boy." He suddenly skid to a stop when he beheld a creature that didn't look like any Pokémon he'd ever seen. Its body was oddly proportioned, with extremely thin legs and arms connected to a slightly thicker torso that led up to a flared neck with a round head floating slightly above it, not connected. Its colors were odd as well, yellows and purples made strips along its body, and its head had dots all along it, with two larger markings on either side.

The Pokémon twirled in place, its head falling from its shoulders and into one of its hands, before it began juggling it. Cobalt looked to Volt, who took the cue and began scanning. "Zzt… error, Pokémon izz unidentifiable!"

"Scuse me?" Before Volt could respond, the creature tossed its head at Cobalt. He braced, but he did not expect for the head to suddenly explode, throwing him back. He tumbled across the ground, groaning, before getting back up. Before his eyes, the odd Pokémon regrew its head, the new one inflating like a balloon from the hole in its neck.

"Zzt, Cobalt! I scanned it a bit more, and just like that jellyfish thing we fought at Aether Paradise, Nebby and Nebblezz, and Necrozma, it hazz a completely different genetic makeup from the Pokémon on earth!"

"So it's a…"

"Zzt, yeah! It'zz an Ultra Beast!" The creature tossed its head at Cobalt again, and he growled as he dove to the side, rolling just out of range from the explosion. As it began regrowing its body part, Cobalt leaped forward and spun as he kicked out, trying to land a Rock Smash.

Instead of the attack causing the Ultra Beast to be thrown away, he instead phased right through it, rolling across the ground. "What the… oh, don't tell me it's a damn Ghost-Type!" He slammed his paw into the ground to stop himself, spinning to glare at the creature.

With a strange warble, it threw its head at him like a baseball, and he used Quick Attack to speed around it, appearing behind the Ultra Beast. It tried to turn towards him, only for him to sprint forward and form a Bone Rush staff in his paws, knocking the legs out from underneath the beast.

As it fell he continued to batter it by spinning his staff and striking out, before his eyes flashed with the use of Foresight and he slammed a Force Palm into the Ultra Beast's stomach. It tumbled, before flipping back onto its feet in a fluid motion, like that of a performer. It tried to regrow its head yet again, only for him to interrupt it with a flurry of kicks, continuing his assault, and ending with a backflip and a kick to send it crashing into a tree.

Before it could get back up, Volt popped out of his Rotomdex and unleashed a Hex which caused the beast to let out a warble of pain. It regrew its head, but instead of throwing it, immediately detonated it, not giving Volt any time to get away. The Rotom yelped as he was thrown back, and Cobalt tossed his case up to catch him in.

Volt twisted around midair as he felt himself land in his metal body, and Cobalt dashed forward as he slammed two Aura Spheres together to create a cloud of Seeker Spheres, so when the Ultra Beast attempted to throw its head again, it immediately connected with several tiny spheres flying towards it and blew up in its face. Technically, since it's face was what had blown up…

Shaking his head to clear the thoughts, he threw a Mega Sphere forward expecting it to finally knock out, or at least do some decent damage to the Ultra Beast, only for it to jump and twist out of the way like a demented acrobat. It lowered its body and removed its head, but instead of throwing it at him, it spewed flames from its neck hole.

He yelped, eyes flashing red as he used Detect, just barely avoiding the Flamethrower that it spat out at him. It built up more flame, lobbing it at him in a denser ball that exploded when it struck the ground, the Flame Burst sending out bits of fire that almost scorched him had his Detect not let him duck and weave between them.

He did a somersault and flipped onto his feet, winding back and slamming his elbow into the creature's midsection. It doubled over, and he backflipped into a handstand to kick with all his might into its stomach, tossing it into yet another tree, except this time it broke straight through.

"Zzt, taste thunder!" Volt jumped from his dex, blasted the Ultra Beast with a Thunderbolt, and quickly jumped back in before its case could hit the ground. Shaking itself off, it rolled backward and onto its feet, breathing another Flamethrower out towards him. He prepared to dodge to the side, only for it to be unnecessary as a Light Screen appeared before him.

Cream Teleported in front of him and grinned. Don't worry, Cobalt, I'm here to help!

"You'd better grovel on your knees in thanks, brute," Amour spoke as she Teleported in next.

Completely ignoring the shiny Kirlia, he pat Cream on the head. "Nice, timing, Cream." She beamed at him while Amour growled.

"Are you ignoring me?! Grovel!"

"Oh, look, a weapon!" He grabbed Amour and wound up, tossing her at the Ultra Beast. "Good timing, Princess!"

"I hate yoooouuuu!" Amour twisted around and unleashed a Disarming Voice, blasting the Ultra Beast with the Fairy-Typed attack and causing it to stagger.

Cream took advantage and used Ally Switch, powering up and hitting the Beast with a Shadow Ball, turning its stagger into a tumble, before using Ally Switch once more on Cobalt, trading places with him and allowing him to speed forward with a Quick Attack and begin a Close Combat rush.

The Ultra Beast ignited its head in the middle of one of his attacks, catching them both in the explosion. Cobalt! Cream caught him telekinetically and began creating psychic mines across the battlefield. The instant the Ultra Beast attempted to slither closer it ignited several of them, creating explosions beneath it that caused it to make another warbling cry of pain.

With one last shaky step forward, the Ultra Beast crumpled to the ground, unconscious. "And that's what happens when you mess with Cobalt and Cream. Plus Volt." Said Rotom hummed proudly above Cobalt.

"What about me?!"

"Oh, hey, Princess, when did you get here?" Cream giggled as Amour began trying to slap Cobalt for his remark before another round and colorful head rolled right up to them. "Uh…" They all looked to see that the first Ultra Beast was still unconscious, with its head lying next to it.

Uh oh. Right after Cream thought out loud, the head exploded and threw everyone apart. Cobalt, barely having activated Endure in time for the attack, rolled as he landed and caught Cream in his arms, setting her down. Thanks, Cobalt.

"No problem." Amour face planted next to them, and Volt struggled to keep his Rotomdex in the air, the chassis heavily damaged from being so close to the explosion. They all turned to see another Ultra Beast, the same type as the one they had already knocked out, slinking closer.

"Damn, another one?! The hell is up with this crap?!"

"Whoa there, Princess, a little lady like you shouldn't curse so much," Cobalt smirked. "Alright, we'll need to be cautious about this. We've all taken some damage, myself the most, but we can still—"

"Dark Pulse." The Ultra Beast was sent flying as Kaiju stomped in out of nowhere and blasted it with a Dark Pulse from his maw. "Oh, hey, it's you guys. Where're your Trainers?"

"Sapphire sent me ahead to help."

We teleported down here when Willow heard the explosions.

Noct nodded. "Hm. Alright, well, just let me handle this one. We nearly took it down already before it ran like a coward. Kaiju, destroy them." The powerful Tyranitar planted its legs into the ground, while purple light began pouring out of the holes in its carapace leading up from its back towards its mouth, exploding out in the form of a Dragon Pulse that ripped up the ground on its way towards the Ultra Beast.

It twisted easily out of the way, springing back up to its feet before Kaiju grabbed it by the neck and slammed it back into the ground. Cobalt focused from his place on the sidelines, eyes flashing. "I used Foresight against it, it's no longer immune to Fighting or Normal-Type moves!"

Noct smirked at his words. "Oh? Is that so?" Kaiju, already knowing what to do, gripped the Ultra Beast and tossed it high into the sky, planting his legs again and digging his tail into the ground as white light shone out through the holes in his body. "Hyper Beam it."

"TAKE THIS!" The impressive attack detonated when it impacted with the Ultra Beast's body, creating a small shockwave that ruffled everyone's fur, as well as Noct and Amour's hair. The creature fell to the earth, crashing to the ground unconscious.

"Well." Amour looked around. "That was anticlimactic."

"Is everyone alright?" Sapphire checked over Cobalt, noting the burns he had.

"I should be fine. That Ultra Beast was no joke, though. Even with all the training since the time we fought that jellyfish one in Aether Paradise, it still was keeping up easily with us. So, what exactly was happening?"

"It wasn't just those two that you and Noct fought that had appeared," Willow explained, crossing her arms. "There were several more, blowing up areas around the Battle Tree."

"Where'd they even come from? Did an Ultra Wormhole open up somewhere around here?"

"I don't know, but it's likely."

"What exactly is an Ultra Wormhole?" Anthony pushed Sapphire aside and knelt to begin treating Cobalt's burns. "Because you two are using some language that I don't quite understand, and that's saying something."

"Uh, rips in space and time that let people travel light-years in seconds and probably between universes or something, I dunno."

"Universes?"

"Well, the Ultra Megapolis is kind of like an alternate Earth, right?"

Willow shrugged at him. "I suppose? I thought it was, it had humans after all, and the chances of another planet having humans that look exactly the same as humans on our earth is incredibly, infinitesimally small."

"Okay, so they're portals to other worlds?"

"Yes."

"Huh…"

They spent the next few minutes recuperating, Anthony taking care of everyone's wounds with his medical supplies. Kagutsuchi and Erebus had needed some treatment as well, as Sapphire and Willow used them in place of Cobalt, Amour, and Cream to fight the Ultra Beasts, while Spirit was still knocked out from their earlier battle. Legendaries though they were, Ultra Beasts were still a force to be reckoned with and managed to keep up slightly with them.

What now, then?

Sapphire shrugged at Cream's question, looking around. Most of the people who had come to the Battle Tree for that year's tournament had left already, figuring that it had been canceled. Some were still hanging around, waiting to see if any announcements were going to be made, while several of the workers were talking quietly with each other, and a man in a brown trench coat stood near to them listening with crossed arms and a frown on his face.

"Hey, I'm gonna go say goodbye to Maria before she leaves, maybe give her my number."

Sapphire looked at Anthony in exasperation. "Considering how she was acting around you, I don't think she's interested."

"You never know!" Anthony winked and left to approach the blue-haired girl before one of the workers clearing his throat and speaking into a megaphone drew Sapphire and Willow's attention.

"Due to the… unforeseen events that have occurred today, this year's tournament is going to be canceled. Damage dealt to the trunk of the Battle Tree and the danger of having more powerful attacks cause it to topple means we must conduct repairs."

As many of the trainers groaned and grumbled, he turned to Willow with a raised eyebrow. "How do you even repair a tree?"

She smiled and shrugged. "Grass Types perhaps?"

After the announcement Trainers began leaving, though some exchanged words or numbers with their partners from the tournament and promised to stay in touch. Sarah as well came over to say goodbye, and Sapphire smiled as she waved. "Hey, sorry we couldn't battle more together, but it was fun!"

"Yeah, but maybe we'll see each other at the League."

"Totally! I can't wait!" With that, she ran off to walk next to who Sapphire assumed was her boyfriend, and he turned back to look at the tree.

"Sapphire, want to see if there's any way we could help fix it?"

"I don't think there's much we could do, but if you want." Approaching the officials, Sapphire noticed that the man in the brown coat who had been listening in earlier was talking quietly with the officials. They waited for several moments, but it looked like they weren't going to be finished anytime soon. "Uh, hello? We just wanted to know if there was any way that we could help out."

"Hm? Ah, no, there's no need." The man in the trench coat answered for the workers. "I'll call in some people to help out, you kids can run along."

"Um, alright. Guess the Ultra Beasts didn't do enough damage that help would be urgent," he spoke to Willow.

"Hold on, Ultra Beasts?" Trench coat man stopped him with a raised palm, looking at him. "You know what they're called?" He and Willow looked to each other, before nodding at him. "I'm part of the International Police Force, codenamed 'Looker'." As he spoke, he showed them a badge with his information. "I've been working with the Aether Foundation after their president turned a new leaf on containing and stopping the threat of Ultra Beasts. She recommended that I find and request assistance from two kids who've managed to stop Ultra Beasts before… Sapphire Chaser and Willow Thorne. I'm assuming that you two would be the children she described?"

"Correct. It's nice to meet you, Looker." Willow nodded at the officer, while Sapphire bowed slightly.

"Ditto."

Seeing as they weren't needed anymore, the Battle Tree officials left while Looker continued speaking with them. "The International Police have been working with the Aether Foundation and the Dimensional Research Lab to find ways to combat the threat of Ultra Beasts, find ways to send them to their homes, and prevent them from appearing on Earth at all. As long as they're on Earth, they'll cause considerable damage in their attempts to return to their original worlds."

"I dunno, it could be dangerous." Sapphire scratched the back of his head as he spoke, wincing. "I mean, Necrozma, Solgaleo, and Lunala are types of Ultra Beasts, right? Couldn't there be Ultra Beasts just as powerful as them out there?"

"But by doing this we could prevent Ultra Beasts that powerful from appearing in the first place. Plus, we would be preventing the harm of so many innocents… I think it's worthwhile."

"Yeah… What do you guys think?"

"Sounds like fun to me."

We'd also be helping prevent people from getting hurt in the future, which is a plus.

"Hmph, I suppose we could do it."

Kagutsuchi popped out of his bag with a grin. "Yeah, let's do it!" Looker blinked at the sight of the Legendary, before looking even more shocked when Erebus emerged from Willow's shadow and nodded.

"Nebby, what do you think?" The Solgaleo's Nestball wobbled in an up-and-down motion, which Sapphire took as a yes, and he looked to see that Lunala's ball was also nodding. "Alright, guess we're doing this."

"Great!"

"So… what now?"

"For now, nothing. Our first goal is finding ways to send Ultra Beasts back to their homeworlds. Preventing them from returning and coming to Earth in the first place is secondary, though all of that can be handled by the Foundation and the International Police. We'll just need your assistance with taking down Ultra Beasts that have invaded, and will contact you when we need your help."

"Makes sense to me."

"And the Ultra Beasts that we fought today?" Willow raised an eyebrow. "What will happen to them?"

"They'll be taken into custody by the Aether Foundation, though you won't have to worry about the foundation doing anything, the International Police are keeping a close watch on them. Once we find a way to send them home, we'll do so. But… there is one other reason I wanted to speak with you." Looker crossed his arms and looked around. "Ultra Wormholes don't just spit out Ultra Beasts… sometimes, they'll suck up humans."

"Really?"

"Yes. If they open in a populated area, people have a chance of getting sucked up. That will be your second objective. If we can find ways to figure out exactly where the people getting sucked up are sent, you'll follow along and try to recover them. Though, considering that the wormholes likely lead to the homeworlds of the Ultra Beasts they send through, this would be incredibly dangerous. I suspect that the danger of this operation would be omitted entirely, but I want you to know this now, you can absolutely refuse to try and accomplish this objective, and simply focus on defeating the rampaging Ultra beasts that appear here on Earth. I certainly wouldn't blame you."

"Well, we already signed up to stop the beasts, why not go all the way?" Sapphire asked sarcastically.

"And it's simply another way to help people. I agree."

Looker smiled, "Alright, great! Here, let's exchange information." After giving Looker the numbers for their Rotomdexs so he could contact them whenever Ultra Beasts appear and rampage, the man nodded and left. "Until we meet again!"

"That was something. Does this mean we're working for the International Police?"

"I suppose. I think we'll need to focus a lot more on training though, and not just for the league. I don't want to get caught off guard if we fight any Ultra Beasts near Solgaleo or Necrozma's levels."

"Right. I still need to go see Tapu Bulu too…"

"Well, Looker did say that he would contact us when we're needed. It's not like we're going to be constantly fighting at all times of the day."

"Still, we should be prepared to be called in at any time," Cobalt cut in.

That's true. Who knows when another Ultra Beast could appear?

Nodding at the Pokémon's words, Sapphire stretched. "Alright, I guess we part ways once again. See ya."

"I'll see you later, Sapph." Willow smiled and walked away, Cream hopping along and Amour sticking her tongue out at Cobalt, with Cobalt scowling back at her.

"Oh, she's leaving?" He turned to see Anthony return, his hands in his pockets. "That was quick. Alright, want to go commit several crimes in HeaHea city?"

"Ah, no. I think not." Anthony just chuckled and slapped him on the back.

"Alright, alright. What do you want to do then?"

"Well, I do need to meet with a Tapu, and I have been putting it off… though it is in the middle of the desert."

"Sounds good to me, let's go!"

"Of course you're sticking around…" Rolling his eyes at the excitement in Anthony's voice, they began their journey to the empty desert.

More Ultra Beasts! Can't wait for the Ultra Space Arc…? I don't know, I don't really plan arc names or anything like that, I just kind of write down detailed stuff on what'll happen and what to write, but never really plan how many chapters should be dedicated to an 'arc' or what I should call it lol.

So yes, this is how I planned to put in more Ultra Space stuff. I remember from Sun and Moon that the Anabel character was a 'Faller', someone who'd come to Earth through an Ultra Wormhole, so logically, people from Earth could also fall through wormholes to other worlds.

So, not much more to say for this chapter, I enjoyed writing the OCs people PM'd me, and can't wait to write the rest of them when the time comes. I never planned to have an entire tournament, I just wanted a place I could start inserting people's characters in places that felt like they would fit, while also starting up the Ultra Space Arc. I hope no one is disappointed that their characters only showed up for a short bit or not at all, because you shouldn't worry, they'll all appear eventually. Hell, there are still a few slots left for characters in the League, so don't worry about a character you PM'd me about not appearing. Anyway, leave a review on everything you liked in the chapter or just a 'nice.' Both are always great to read.
