Hello, Nephew.
The words sent shivers down his spine as Ness stared at the being in front of him, struggling to breath as the being's presence crashed down on all of them.
It was warm, excited yet also attempting to remain calm, as Ness grabbed Paula's hand to ground himself and stared at the person who should not be here. Who should be DEAD.
"You shouldn't be here." Ness breathed, unable to look at Tracey who was trembling and looking at the being with wide eyes or Jeff who was gripping Tracey's hand like a lifeline.
"You should be dead." Ness thought, "Why are you still here?"
Because wizards ruin everything. That was the only explanation Ness could think of as he stared at the being who looked like him but also not. His polo shirt's stripes were thinner, his hair was a metallic sliver, his skin was a pale grey that could have been mistaken for white and he was tall and lean.
They flinched as Giygas's presence expanded in the room, reaching out and picking up people and spells frozen in time and moving them around with ease to push them in or out of danger.
Don't be afraid, I am here to help.
Giygas said, his expression never changing as he 'smiled' at them.
"Don't be afraid?" Paula whispered, her voice trembling as she spoke, "You have Jeff and Tracey besides you! And what did you do to Hermione!?"
The wizard girl?
Giygas 'glanced' at the girl standing beside him, frozen in time and her eyes in the process in sharpening, as if she had finally walked through a thick fog in her mind.
She wanted answers,
Giygas flippantly stated, 'focusing' on Ness and Paula as Jeff nervously shot them a warning look. Trying to urge them to be careful. But of what? Was it to be careful of their words? Or their actions?
So, I gave her a few. And in exchange, she would help free me. I would have asked you but…
Giygas seemed to 'grimace' and 'look' 'apologetic' while also sounding 'annoyed'.
You…rightfully were wary of me.
"…Rightfully?" Ness carefully questioned as Giygas's never moving expression twitched, his eyes darkening and the presence looming in the air feeling sharper, twisted before it abruptly calmed. Horror dawning on Ness as he realized why Jeff was warning them to be careful. Giygas was still vastly unstable but had managed to somewhat pull himself together to speak and interact with them.
"N-never mind," Ness said before Giygas worked himself into a tizzy trying to 'apologize' for being insane, "What are you still doing here? And with Tracey and Jeff?"
It wouldn't be very nice if I just left my niece and your friend alone in this… T w I s t e d jail-cell.
Giygas replied, sounding angry before he abruptly calmed down, his 'eyes' moving to Harry's back with a bright 'smile'.
Besides, I haven't spoken to Potter yet.
"Why?" Ness questioned, getting to his feet and hoping that his movement would prompt Giygas to focus on him. It didn't work, the alien simply made a small gesture with a finger and turned Harry around his eyes frozen yet somehow, not.
He wished to meet me, and I'm not quiet done with my…dramatic entrance.
Giygas admitted, his 'eyes' sliding over to Tracey who was pale and trying to subtly lean away from him, her hands squeezing the life out of her skirt as Giygas spoke,
Tracey said it's important for characters to have a dramatic entrance, and I have a bone to pick with a certain old wizard or two.
"Dumbledore and Voldemort haven't done anything to you!" Ness snapped, his heart pounding as Paula grabbed his arm. Silently warning him to be careful as Giygas's presence grew sharp and angry, his expression actual moving as his smile morphed into a small frown.
They've hurt you, Ness, they tried to break you. They tried to break your gift.
Giygas 'yelled' his voice booming yet not yelling, despite the anger burning in his words and the room dipping into a sharp red background that was pulsating with anger.
And they need to pay for that.
Tracey let a small whimper of fear escape from her, prompting Ness to reach for his bat before he stopped himself. The need to rescue his baby sister being destroyed by the need to keep calm and not aggravate Giygas into losing even more control. He was playing a deadly game here and so far, only he and Tracey were the only pieces on this twisted chessboard that Giygas deemed important to him for some bizarre reason.
Giygas swiftly confirmed his suspicions as his angry presence evaporated, replaced with surprise and then worry as he physically turned his head to look at Tracey.
Ah, did I scare you Tracey?
Tracey blinked but slowly nodded.
"She…she isn't used to your presence, Giygas." Jeff slowly offered, flinching as Giygas's presence focused on him. "This may be more overwhelming for her than it is for us."
Giygas looked back at Ness and Paula, as if silently asking them to confirm this. They slowly nodded in agreement, flinching as Giygas's presence recoiled in shock. The vibrate backdrop that had swallowed them up the second Giygas had entered the room dimming and mellowing out.
My apologies Tracey, I didn't mean to scare you.
Giygas apologize, his 'voice' 'soft' and 'gentle'.
It's been so long since I've talked to someone so…
Giygas fumbled for the word, growing distressed at not being able to find it when Tracey offered, "Who isn't skilled with PSI?"
Is that the term?
Giygas asked, looking at Ness again who shrugged, "Not really, but Tracey hasn't really shown a lot of aptitude for it."
Not yet?
Giygas questioned, sounding a little 'surprised' before he remembered he was supposed to be apologizing to Tracey.
A-anyway, as I stated before I am sorry for scaring you. I tend to get a bit…carried away with certain subjects.
Tracey slowly nodded, "I-it's alright. Today has been a very exciting day."
Yes, I suppose it has been. And the day's almost over.
Giygas mused.
You all should really head home. It's late.
"R-right." Paula managed as it dawned on them that they had been gone for almost the entire day for a short rescue mission that still wasn't over.
Giygas seemed to 'smile' at them before he gestured towards Hermione's head, removing a headband which promptly identified itself as a Noisy-band.
You were right Ness, headbands are evil.
Giygas 'joked' his 'smile' growing bigger as he simply said,
Resume
To undo the Stop attack and left in a flash of light as the room exploded back to life. Spells that had been fired at Sirius and his comrades now hitting their owners in the face, causing several people to fall over with yells of surprise. Harry landed on the ground with a sharp inhale and wild eyes as he looked at Ness, trying to ask him what had just happened when Hermione blinked and started to scream.
"Hermione!" Ron exclaimed, the Death Eaters forgotten as Jeff and Tracey joined Ness and Paula. Watching the chaos unfold as the horrific news of Giygas's return and perceiving the child destined to defeat him and his younger sister as his family sank in.
"We should probably leave." Jeff whispered, shakily polishing his glasses as Tracey leaned into Ness's side, clutching his arm like a lifeline.
"I-is he always like that?" Tracey whispered as the confused members of the Order tied up the defeated Death Eaters and tried to calm the wizard children down.
"He was actually a bit better." Paula answered, "Although, I suppose that he was trying to stay in control."
"Ness," Harry wheezed, getting to his feet as Sirius rushed over to him, "W-who was that?"
"A being who should be dead." Ness answered before turning to one of the Order members who was helping a dazed Selvis to his feet, "Hey, where's the exit out of here?"
"What? Wait a second, who are they?!" the man demanded pointing at Tracey and Jeff who shot him a weary glare.
"It doesn't matter." Jeff replied, "Our next course of action is to evacuate this department before someone comes to investigate this mess."
"But-," the man started when Sirius snapped, "We can question them later Fletcher, we need to get the kids out of here and collected anyone who might have…" he trailed off with a grimace, the unspoken word—died—echoing in their heads as Tracey mumbled, "I want to go home Ness."
"We're going home Tracey, just need to wait for the wizard gits to stop freaking out." Ness promised. Ruffling her hair as someone gave a tiny cough, "Ness, I know how to leave." Sister Mary said, standing by the door and looking up at them as Ness slowly nodded.
"Never mind," Paula called, "We'll find our own way out."
"Wait a second—Oy!" Fletcher called, trying to stop them when Ginny intercepted him saying, "We'll watch them!" as Luna and Selvis followed her lead. Ignoring the adult's protests as they followed Ness and the others out into the hallway.
"So…what happened?" Selvis asked, "And who's the kid?"
"That's Tracey, my young sister." Ness said, not trusting himself not to have a panic attack if he tried to relay what Giygas had said. He needed to stay strong for just a few more moments, for Tracey's sake.
"I can do this." Ness thought, grimacing as the other wizards caught up with them and forced them into staying in the middle of the group. Ignoring Paula's quiet snips of, "We can defend ourselves." As they simply did as they were told.
Focusing on the path ahead of them and nothing else in hopes of keeping their meltdowns at bay for just a few more seconds.
"We're almost there." Sirius said as they left the twisted maze of the Department of Mysteries and traveled down a flight of carefully hidden stairs.
"Then maybe we can get some answers." Fletcher grumbled, getting sharply silenced by the man wearing a weird patterned turban as Ness shot him a death glare and debated knocking him out with a bat.
"Gaudy…" Jeff murmured as they reached a giant lobby with five giant golden statues of a wizard, a goblin, a witch, a house-elf and a centaur with a giant fountain in the center of the room.
"More like ugly." Tracey mumbled when the giant room exploded with light and everyone was sent flying across the room. Yells and names were thrown into the air as Ness held onto Tracey, curling his body around her as they skidded across the cold stone floor.
"Ginny! You guys okay!?" Ness yelled, checking his party's status and breathing a sigh of relief to see that no one had gotten to badly hurt.
"F-fine!" Ginny coughed as Harry gave a yell of pain and Sirius roared, "Get away from him!"
"Now what?" Ness muttered, sitting up and scowling at the sight of Voldemort approaching Harry who had somehow survived the explosion and was on the ground, clutching his scar in pain.
"Who's that?" Tracey asked, her voice barely above a whisper as Voldemort reached down to grab something from Harry. Everyone too far away to try and stop the Dark Lord as Harry screamed and writhed on the ground.
"That is Voldemort. He's a jerk." Ness explained, reaching for his bat and jumping in surprise as someone yelled something and a shotgun went off, hitting Voldemort square in the back and forcing the Dark Lord to spin around.
"Jeff?" Ness wondered, looking around and frowning when he saw the blonde in question feverishly looking for his glasses. "Then who…?"
"Voldemort! You're under arrest!" Fudge the Minister exclaimed, pointing his wand at the Dark Lord as several wizard cops swarmed towards him with shields up and ready to deflect anything the dark wizard could throw at them.
"I think not, Minister." Voldemort sneered, flicking his wand and unleashing a blast of magic before saying the two words that lingered in his nightmares, "Avada kevdra!"
"Don't look!" Ness yelled, forcing Tracey to look away as he closed his eyes, hearing several loud thuds and screams as Tracey started to cry. Not understanding what was going on but understanding that something very horrible was happening.
"You monster!" Sirius roared, another bang going off followed by a yell as Ness forced himself to open his eyes and look around. Trying to see where his friends were and where they could possibly use for cover.
"The prophecy is mine!" Voldemort yelled another bang sounding off as Harry's screams reach an unbearable pitch.
"Not so fast Tom," a gratingly calm voice interjected as Dumble-freakin'-dore speed glided into the room with his wand at the ready.
"That's my awful headmaster." Ness deadpanned, gently nudging Tracey to stand as they moved behind a pillar, everyone getting out of the two most annoying wizards' way as they battled. Their spells lighting up the darkened room and revealing several corpses on the ground.
"That could have been me." Ness thought, feeling sick as he hugged Tracey and frequently checked his party's status.
"This ends now!" Dumbledore roared—well no, he said it, but his inflection sounded like he was yelling as—
Nagini~ Why don't you show your old friend where your loyalties lie?
Ness allowed himself a small laugh of spite as Nagini landed on Voldemort's neck and squeezed. Voldemort gave a startled cry of betrayal, hissing something in a weird snake tongue as Nagini calmly stated, "I serve Master. You, are not my master."
"What does Nagini mean?" Tracey asked as Ness's spite filled glee evaporated. "She's…Nagini's obeying Giygas's orders since he was their original leader." Ness answered, tightening his hold on Tracey as Giygas teleported into the room.
His presence bombarding them with smug joy at Voldemort's anguished expression and Dumbledore's confusion at the sudden change in Nagini's behavior.
"Nagini…!" Voldemort croaked, collapsing to the floor as Giygas signaled for Nagini to release the Dark Lord and to return to him.
Didn't you hear her? She obeys me now.
Giygas stated, relishing in the wizards' hisses of pain as they covered their ears, trying to block out a sound that didn't exist.
How on earth did you wizards manage to survive this long? Anyone with common sense would have been wary of a once faithful servant returning from the blue to serve a pathetic being such as yourself. Oh well, despite your meddling I restored Nagini to her original glory. You're welcome, Tom Riddle.
Ness was pretty sure Voldemort was quietly crying on the floor when Giygas 'shoved' him into a wall with enough force to produce sicken crack when the Dark Wizard slammed into the wall, but he wasn't sure as Dumbledore said, "You must be the Nova Enigma."
Angering Giygas before he abruptly calmed himself down. His presence casting a quick 'glance' in their direction before he spoke,
Dumbledore, your stupidity proceeds you. But, I suppose I should award you for your tenacity.
With a sharp pulse the wand Dumbledore had been using was yanked out of his hand and swiftly engulfed in a blue and red haze that only Ness, Paula and Jeff could see.
Be grateful that I'm letting you both leave with your lives in tack.
Giygas warned, his presence sharpening into a 'glare' focused on Dumbledore and Voldemort.
If I could have it my way, you would be dead and wiped from history. But, I have a much more fitting punishment in mind for your kind.
"And we'll stop you." Dumbledore promised, his stance wavering as Giygas increased his 'glare' until it felt like a vacuum for everyone except Dumbledore who was sitting in the deadly eye of a hurricane.
Cocky old fool.
Giygas snarled before he vanished, his departure reminding the wizards that they could breath as they started gasping for air like fish. "Is Dumbledore dead?" Tracey tentatively asked.
"Not yet." Ness answered, watching Dumbledore and wondering how dumb the man was to purposely anger Giygas who had just revealed that he had done something to Nagini and sent a man flying without uttering a spell or even moving.
"But I'm pretty sure he's going to die over the summer."
Giygas is back, Voldemort has been reduced to a girl suffering the worst break up ever and Dumbledore is trying to marry Death while the heroes just sit and watch with horrified expressions.
Reviewers are awesome because they give me ideas. I don't remember who exactly asked if Giygas was coming back but whoever asked that question is awesome and gave me a solid course of action outside of 'trying to figure out why Wizards hate PSI users.' when I was struggling to lean away from canon.
But! Now with all the cards (Sort of) in play I can resume blowing up canon and stop finding more and more reasons as to why Dumbledore could be painted as a mastermind villain as I make him seem very untrustworthy so the Wizarding world can panic over it...Right?
Anyway, happy holidays/Merry Christmas, stay safe and stay warm!
