Chapter 50: Prom Night Continued
"So Kiara, did you enjoy the dance?" May asked.
"Mm hm." Kiara answered. "Thanks for letting me experience that."
"No prob. I'm glad that we can be here to make sure you have fun."
"Well, I think you should go on and dance with Drew again. Don't let me keep you from enjoying yourself too."
May looked at Drew. Drew took May's hand. "I think you owe me a dance." Drew said.
"I do? How so?" May questioned, smiling.
"For doing you a favor of dancing with Kiara." Drew answered. "You owe me."
May exhaled. "I guess you're right."
"So, shall we?" Drew asked, holding up his hand with May's on it.
"We shall." May said.
May and Drew walked to the dance floor and got into the slow dance position and started dancing to the slow song that's currently playing.
"So, are you having fun tonight?" Drew asked.
"Yeah." May answered. "And it's all thanks to you. You really made this night one to remember."
"And it's not over yet."
"Nope."
"Hey...you know what I'm thinking right now?" Drew asked.
"Umm...you're thinking how much you love me?"
"Nope."
May's eyebrows furrowed. "I mean, yes. Of course I love you." Drew said quickly. "But that's not what I was thinking."
"Hmm...you were thinking about the song I sang earlier."
Drew shook his head. "Try again."
"You were thinking about...how beautiful my dress is?"
"You are beautiful, May, but that's not what I was thinking."
"I give up."
Drew chuckled. "I have the perfect song that we could sing for everyone, if you're up for that."
May smiled brightly. "Are you kidding? Of course I am! I'm always up for singing."
"Okay then. Let's sing it after the announcement of Prom King and Queen." Drew said. His gaze moved to the stage and saw the hostess walking up on stage. "Which I think is now."
The music ended and everyone stopped dancing and looked at the hostess on the stage. "Attention everyone, it's now time to announce this year's prom King and Queen!" Everyone cheered and applauded. The hostess opened up an envelope and pulled out a paper. The cafeteria quieted down while the hostess read the paper.
"And this year's prom King and Queen is…" the hostess looked up at the audience. "Drew and May!"
"Huh?" May asked incredulously.
"What?" Drew questioned as well.
A spotlight shone on them. "Come on up, you two!" The hostess called.
May and Drew walked to the stage, walking up the stairs. They stood in front of the hostess and she put crowns atop their heads. The cafeteria erupted into applause.
May blushed slightly. "I...didn't expect this…"
"Me neither. But I guess the students voted for us." Drew said.
"Now, it's time for our King and Queen's traditional slow dance!" The hostess said.
Drew took May's hand and they started walking off of the stage as the dance floor cleared out. They stood in the center of the dance floor and they got into the slow dance position. The slow music started playing. May and Drew started dancing to it.
"Sorry if I mess up this dance." Drew said.
"Why would you mess it up?" May asked.
"All eyes are on us. I know this isn't very...me...but I'm kinda nervous to slow dance in front of everyone."
"Ooh...Drew is nervous about something…" May teased.
"Okay, I get it. Just go ahead and laugh."
"I won't do that." May said. "That will be mean. I'm just...a little surprised that you're nervous to slow dance with all eyes on you, and also that you actually admitted that to me."
"Hey. It's my honesty. I can't lie to you about anything, so I just came right out and said it."
"Well, everything will be fine. Just focus your attention all on me."
Drew smiled. "Right."
They danced some more, Drew twirling May at times. And they continued staring into each other's eyes.
"You know...we'll be slow dancing at our wedding too." May said.
"Now that I'll really be nervous for." Drew said.
"Everything will be fine." May said as she placed her hands on Drew's neck, cupping it. Drew placed his hands on May's waist.
"How are you so confident to dance in front of everyone? There was a time when you were the nervous one and I was the confident one."
"I guess I'm just...better when we're together." May said. "I feel like I can do anything...as long as I'm with you."
Drew smiled. "Right back at you." He then leaned in and claimed May's lips in a gentle kiss.
They completely ignored some of the yells from the audience like…
"Drew, why choose her to kiss when I'm available?"
"May, he doesn't deserve to do that to you. I do!"
May and Drew backed away from each other and smiled. "Did I ever tell you how beautiful you are tonight?" Drew asked.
May blushed and smiled. "You might've mentioned it a few times now."
"And I think you should know over and over again that you are the most beautiful girl...that I've ever laid eyes on."
May's blush deepened. "And...did I ever tell you how handsome you are tonight?"
Drew chuckled. "I think you mentioned it a few times."
"Well, you should know it over and over again too. You're the most handsome King in the world. Not to mention cute."
Drew blushed and smiled. The slow song music ended. May and Drew stopped dancing.
"Thank you to our prom King and Queen!" The hostess said. "Now everyone else can join in on the dance floor."
"Wait!" May called.
Everyone stared at May in confusion.
"We'd like to sing a song." May said, pulling Drew to the stage.
"Excellent idea." The hostess said. "Everyone, on the dance floor as our King and Queen sing a song for you all!" The audience applauded and cheered for May and Drew.
May and Drew walked up on stage and Drew told the DJ what song to play. They stood center stage and Drew whispered the song to May because he never told her what song he had in mind. May nodded and smiled at Drew. They faced the audience, each with a microphone in their hand. The music started playing and the couples stepped on the dance floor and started dancing.
(This song is "I See Love" from Hotel Transylvania 3.)
"This is such a perfect place." Drew sang, glancing over at May. "I'm glad I found this with you." May glanced at Drew. "Our love reflected in your face." Drew turned his entire body to face May. "Only heaven can beat this view." May faced Drew. They walked closer to each other.
"Come on, let's run and get lost in the crowd." Drew sang. "Into the light as the night's coming down. I'm double tapping, I'm focusing now. We're focusing now."
"I see love." They sang together. "I see love around me. From a river to a flood. I see love around me."
May and Drew faced the audience. "All of you helped me find my heart." May sang. "I didn't even know my name. Then I was blinded by the dark. My eyes will never look the same."
May turned to face Drew. "Come on, let's run and get lost in the crowd." Drew faced May. "Into the light as the night's coming down. I'm double tapping, I'm focusing now. We're focusing now."
"I see love." They sang together. "I see love around me. From a river to a flood. I see love around me." Drew took May's hand. "I see love." Drew twirled May. "I see love. From a river to a flood. I see love around me."
"Come on, let's run and get lost in the crowd." Drew sang. "Into the light as the night's coming down."
"I'm double tapping, I'm focusing now." May sang. "We're focusing now."
"I see love." They sang together. "I see love around me. From a river to a flood. I see love around me. I see love." Drew twirled May. "I see love. From a river to a flood. I see love around me. I see love." They finished the song. Everyone stopped dancing and applauded May and Drew.
May and Drew walked off of the stage and handed the microphones to the hostess before heading to their table.
May and Drew sat down at the table. "Hey. Where's Kiara?" May asked.
Drew looked towards the food bar. "There she is. She's surrounded by boys."
May looked in the direction that Drew is looking in. May smiled. "She's smiling and laughing. It looks like she's having a good time."
"Yeah." Drew agreed. He looked at May. "And are you?"
May looked at Drew. "Of course I am. I'm here with the love of my life. And he's made this night one to remember." Drew smiled. "Why do you ask?" May asked.
"I just want to make sure you're having a good time." Drew said. "If you aren't, then I'll have to make sure to fix that."
May blushed and smiled. "You're sweet, Drew. If you want to make my night better, then you can get me a refill."
Drew chuckled and stood up, taking May's cup. "Will do." With that said, he walked off to the drinks table.
May looked to the dance floor and saw Kiara dancing with 4 guys around her. "I knew she wasn't the only one that doesn't have a date." She muttered, smiling.
May's gaze went to the drinks table to look for Drew. She noticed Drew around 4 girls. She frowned and felt a tinge of jealousy, but then she saw Drew's expression and she smiled. Drew is clearly trying to get away from his crazy fans and come back to May. She notices the fangirls stopping him and she furrows her eyebrows.
May stands up and walks to Drew. She clears her throat and the 4 girls look at her.
"May, these fans-" Drew said but got cut off by May.
"Don't worry, Drew. I know." May saw one of the girls wrap her arms around Drew's arm. "Really? You're really going there?" May asked angrily.
The girls all crowded around Drew and stuck their tongues out at May. May took out her scepter. "I cannot believe you're acting this way to a Princess." She held her scepter in front of her. "Levitate." The 4 girls got pried off of Drew by the scepter's power.
Drew walked to May. "Let's go. I know that you don't want to pick a fight."
May nodded. Drew and May started walking back to the table. One of the girls got furious that May used magic to separate her from Drew, so she quickly walked to them and stepped on May's dress.
"Aah." May said as she got pulled back because of the foot on her dress. Drew looked back at May and saw the girl stepping on her dress. He walked to May and looked at the girl.
"What do you think you're doing?" Drew asked angrily.
"Oh, don't worry, Drew." The girl said. "We'll get her away from you." The 4 girls all grabbed hold of May's arms and pulled her towards the table.
"Wait!" Drew called, walking after them.
The girls just pushed May to the table. May bumped into the table hard and some food fell off of it in the back. Everyone around them looked towards the sound that the table made when it moved. All eyes were now on May and the 4 girls.
"What's your problem?" May asked angrily.
One of the girls grabbed the fruit punch bowl. "Our problem is you!" She answered before dumping the fruit punch on May's head. May's mouth immediately opened in shock as soon as she felt the cold beverage on her. Everyone gasped at the sight of the Princess covered in fruit punch. The fruit punch slid down May's entire body, her hair was flat at the top and her dress has some fruit punch stains on it.
The gang all saw what happened and they went to May. May looked down at her dress and she looked back up to see every girl laughing at her. Every boy was just staring at her. The gang didn't laugh, they just asked, "are you okay?"
May looked around at every girl laughing at her. She felt embarrassed. She felt upset. She felt sad. "May." Drew said, taking her hand.
"You're supposed to be our future Queen?" A girl asked. "What a joke."
"Yeah. You're not royal at all." Another girl said. "And you're definitely not pretty enough to be with someone like Drew."
"So just stay away from him." A third girl said. "There's no way he'll like you after you look like that."
May's eyes started getting watery at the mean comments that she's hearing. "May, don't listen to them." Kiara said.
"I...I…" May said.
"May." Drew said.
Before Drew could say anything else, May pulled her hand out of his and speed walked out of the cafeteria, more laughing being heard from the girls.
"May…" Drew said.
"Drew, you go after May. We'll handle things here." Kiara said.
"Okay." Drew said. He ran out of the cafeteria in the direction that May went. He saw May a distance ahead of him. "May!" He called.
May pulled out her scepter and held it to the sky. "Teleport!" With that said, May disappeared and reappeared at the gazebo.
Drew stopped running. "May, please." He muttered. "It doesn't matter what those girls say. I love you even though you got soaked in punch. Where did you go?"
Drew then got an idea. He doesn't know if it will work, but he has to at least try. He clasped his hands together and closed his eyes as if he's praying. "Goddess." He whispered to himself. "Tell me where she is."
Silence and no response.
"Please." Drew whispered. "Tell me the location of May."
More silence. Drew heard nothing. Until…
"Gazebo." A voice said in Drew's head.
Drew shot his eyes open, lowered his hands to his sides, and looked up. "Thank you." He muttered. He then called out his Flygon and they started flying towards the gazebo.
