Astor and Nestor heard the dragons letting out a loud war cry. They gazed at each other's.
Spyro grumbled as it disturbed his nap.
"They sure are loud," Zoe commented.
Sparx buzzed that the dragons were in high spirit for some reason.
"They really need to calm down and be quiet," the green dragon pat the head of his son. He gazed down. He let out a small smile as the youngling rubbed his head on his lap, "At least you're still sleeping."
"I think… that spirit is good. Those Peace Keepers weren't… that loud when we came here," the mauve dragon commented.
The dragonfly suggested that they were really ready to save the other eggs or something like that.
"With Flame found, I believe so," Nestor let out a small smile. If they could believe it, they would be stronger. The carpenter had to agree, he believed it too and it was thanks to Spyro reckless behavior. They would never try to come back to their lost realm if it wasn't from the child. The dragon told himself that he would never reveal that.
Astor grumbled as he thought back. He gazed at the leader of the Artisan Dragons. His memories were still blurry, "I thought I was remembering something."
"It might come back," Nestor replied. It was a miracle they returned to the realm of their ancestors.
Chapter 41: Country Speedway Great Battle
Meanwhile, the nine dragons came out of the portal and went to another part of the realm. They landed on the ground and observed their location.
"Where are we now?" Titan wondered as he looked at the strange realm.
It was a large field that looked like a farm with a few houses and farming tools. They were a few silos that contained the harvest of the field. The agricultural farm was a large one.
"Country Speedway," Flame replied as he remembered visiting it a few times. He knew there was a lot of good produced there by the plants put in the ground. He did notice that something wasn't right, "There's… something wrong here. I don't see the farmers."
"The habitants aren't here," Bruno grumbled as he scratched his jaw.
"Probably an ambush is coming or something else. The Rhynocs were coming there. Maybe just some of them remained there and attacked us. The others could be searching for the eggs here," Zantor suggested.
"We shouldn't make them wait," Trondo replied as he went forward.
The dragons nodded and followed him. That was until Titan took the lead as the leader of the Peace Keepers.
The dragon felt the wind on his orange scales. Something wasn't right in there. Just as the young dragon said. He slowed down and the others did the same as him, "Save your strength. There is definitely something wrong. Even if they were afraid of us, they would make some noise. Right now, nothing."
The other Peace keepers agreed with their leader. No signs of anything were bad. It was just like when the Gnorcs were about to attack them and tried to get deep in Dragon Realm. It was the calm before the battle. Never a small fight, but a big one.
They saw a few signs marked with forbidden dragons on it. They didn't look old.
"Hum… I guess the Rhynocs put the signs here," Zantor concluded.
"And this one isn't flattering at all," Bubba grumbled.
Bruno glared at it, "I ain't that fat!"
"Did they confuse you and me?" Magnus grumbled, offended by it.
"My hat isn't constricting my brain," the Magic Crafter frowned.
"I mean under it," the blue dragon signed.
Gunnar read it before it went anywhere else, "Dragons are forbidden in these lands. They are-" he broke the next words when he noticed the youngling trying to read it, "monsters,"
"Good thinking," Titan gave a thumbs up.
"For what?" Flame asked confused.
"Euh…" the dragons said together.
"Something really nasty," Bubba quickly explained.
The calm came to an end when a loud sound resonated in the sky. The dragons searched for the source of it.
"Over there!" Trondo raised his finger in the air as airplanes went towards him.
The pilots of those planes were humanoid pig who aimed at them.
"What are those things?" Bruno grunted.
"Airplanes," Flame replied as he recognised those, "But they aren't bad guys. They are friends and-"
"Maybe those Rhynocs forced them to do something," Zantor replied as he blocked a few bullets coming at them with his magic.
"What do we do?" Halvor asked with a small smirk.
"If they are forced to do this, we shouldn't hurt them," Titan decided.
"Agreed," the leader of the Beast Makers replied as he prepared his staff. He looked at the dragons, "We need to get those Rhynocs and find out why they forced them."
"I'll do this," Flame declared before rushing in the field.
"I'll protect him!" Bruno flew after the youngling.
The leader of the Peace Keepers gave his orders, "Okay! We will bring them down, but don't hurt the habitants. They are surely forced to obey The Sorceress!"
"Yeah!" the dragons replied before they flew in the air and began the aerial battle.
Zantor had to protect himself form shots when one of the planes went behind him and attacked him. He blocked anything with his magic shield. He noticed the plane didn't stop and avoided impact with it, "Those things cannot stand still!"
"Good to know MC!" Bubba replied.
"Magic Crafters!" the other dragon replied.
"Charge!" Titan ordered.
The dragons went to the offensive, but knew they had to hold back. They weren't fighting evil enemies, but citizens forced to attack them.
Meanwhile, Flame and Bruno began to search for the Rhynocs who came in the realm. They looked around. The young dragon noticed something suspicious and went towards it.
"W-wait!" Bruno yelled before he followed the youngling who wasn't watching his surrounding.
The red dragon suddenly stopped when he heard something.
The adult dragon slid on the ground, "W-what is it?" he realised he focused too much on the youngling and not his surrounding.
"I heard something. There is something strange there," he pointed at a large red house with the field behind it. He gazed at the adult, "I smelt the Rhynocs. I… I think there is something in there. I'm sure there is something bad hidden there," he pointed his claw at the door.
"Hum… we should approach it quietly kiddo. We can't be sure if they are expecting us with-" a loud explosion resonated behind them, "Like that," he pointed at the smoke in the sky with his thumbs.
"Y-yeah," Flame nodded in agreement.
The two carefully watched the house. The elder dragon noticed at first glance that they acted quickly and left a lot of clues of what happened. He could tell that many people had been brought in there. Maybe they attacked quicker than the enemy expected. They left a lot of signs that the enemies retreated in there.
Bruno reached a fearful conclusion, "Maybe the children had been taken hostage. That would quickly force them to act like that."
"What do we do?"
"We cannot let them notice us or the hostage will get hurt. We have to find a way to approach it quietly," the big dragon chuckled, "I am a Beast Maker, but I know a few tricks," he waved his staff as he casted a spell outside of his domain.
The red dragon watched it with stars in his eyes.
In the sky, the battle went on. Titan was chased by a few planes. He was proud to be seen as the main threat for them. He was the leader of the Peace Keepers for more reasons than inheritance and good looks. He readied his axe. The moment came and he turned around and slashed at one of the planes. He missed it, but they split up and left themselves vulnerable. The orange dragon breath a large fireball out of his mouth and hit one plane that went down. He noticed he over did it and flew to save the pilot. He took the humanoid pig out of the plane and put him on the ground before he returned to face the other adversaries. At the last second, he a saw a missile coming at his face. It blew up his mind in a literal term and felt on the ground. He opened his mouth and white smoke came out of it, "D-damn."
"Gunnar! Titan is down!" Tronto said as he avoided an airplane that tried to collide with him.
"I'll watch over him!" the green dragon replied as he turned around and grabbed his leader and flew away from the planes after him.
Halvor landed on the wing of one of the airplanes, "Listen there. I know you have been forced to do this, but I won't hesitate to destroy this plane!" he destroyed the wings with his hammer and pulled the enemy to safety on the ground. He went to the next one.
Gunnar put Titan to safety, "There. You should be fine."
"Naw. Those things are coming here!" he pointed at a humanoid cow driving a tractor towards them. There was more than one.
"Dammit! I can't drag you everywhere Titan. You are way too heavy!" he grunted at the dragon with a mohawk.
"I am not Magnus you know," the leader of the Peace Keepers replied, offended by that insult.
"You know what I mean. Run!" he pulled his leader and dragged him on the ground.
"When this is over-" Titan whined when his face hit a rock, "You are going to regret this!"
"I can let them shave your mohawk! You might look better!"
"Never!" the dragon furiously yelled.
As the battle went on, Bruno and Flame were near a window. Thanks to the leader of the Beast Makers, they were currently invisible. The big dragon checked on the window and saw the habitants were in the middle of the room. He looked more closely and frowned, "The children," he grumbled.
"They capture the children," the youngling quietly growled.
"We can save them, but we need to do it the right way or the kids might get hurt. You're with me kiddo?"
"Of course."
"Hold on," he grabbed the child and flew to the roof. They landed on it and looked down. Bruno put the child on the ground and casted another spell, "Okay," the large dragon took a deep breath before he put his claw on it and began to draw a square on the roof. Once it was done, it began to shine a little, "Done."
"What is it?" Flame asked curiously.
"It's a spell that let us pass through this like a window. A window I opened," he winked at the kid.
"Doesn't sound like a Beast Maker thing," the red dragon commented curiously.
Bruno didn't take offense and chuckled, "We have less… material and less knowledge on how to create grandiose beasts. My pop used to make some incredible ones here… long ago, but we have to destroy them. It's best broken that under the control of The Sorceress. So… we learn magic from other realms. We are great with magic and we cannot let limits put us to waste. I do not regret being able to cast those spells," he frowned and redid the spell with a larger square, "Forgot I'm on the large side."
The youngling snickered.
"Jump after me," the leader Beast Keeper told him. He jumped in the square and went through it as if there was no roof. The other dragon quickly followed him.
Bruno landed on the ground and the child on his back, "Now!"
The Rhynocs turned around and were attacked by the two dragons. The moment they caused commissions, the big dragon yelled, "Get away now!"
The children waited no seconds and ran away. They escaped by the group door as the two fought the enemies.
With a few magic spells from the elder and Flame torching them, the Rhynocs had been quickly taken care off. The element of surprise allowed them to have a quick victory.
"Battles aren't my forte, but I know when it's best to give them a little surprise," he winked at the child.
"You're so cool Bruno," the child commented with sparkled in his eyes.
"T-thanks kiddo. Anyway, we should check if the kids are fine and then end this battle before anyone really gets hurt because of them," he chuckled.
Titan managed to recover from the blast and returned to the battle with the other dragons.
Zantor was busy with his magic to protect the other dragons from those long-range weapons on those airplanes. He played quickly with his cards, but couldn't keep up with the few remaining planes when one of those tackled him with its wings. The thin dragon let out a painful groaned as he held on the wind. He called his cards back to him and pointed then at the pilot, "You land this thing or I'm going to cast a spell on you!"
It didn't work. However, Magnus came and stood on the other wing, forcing the plane to shift on the right side, where the chubby dragon was, "You won't need this anymore," he grabbed the pilot and the Magic Crafter and flew away from the out-of-control plane that crashed on the ground.
Zantor sighed, "Thanks Magnus. I didn't want to end up like that plane," he pointed at it the second before it exploded.
Magnus put the humanoid pig on the ground, "There. Safe. Better keep it up with the others Zantor. We will need a nice meal after this! Especially you," he flew back in the air with the thin dragon following him.
Trondo cut a plane with his knives while Halvor broke the plane and saved the pilot from a crash.
The battle went on as Titan cut a plane with his axe and saved the pilot with his tail. He gazed down and saw Bruno and Flame came towards them with a few habitants following them.
The moment the pilots noticed of the remaining planes noticed them, they broke away from the dragons and landed on the ground.
The dragons flew down and realised it was the children.
"Hostage," Titan grumbled in the ugly tactic of The Sorceress, "No wonder."
They landed on the ground and the parents of the hostages came out and turned towards them.
They dragons knew there was a lot to talk about.
AC: This is the end of this chapter. I hope you enjoyed it.
Next: A Hint Of Romance.
Hunter joined Spyro and the other two dragons and went on their way. They crossed path with Bianca who was preparing a nasty surprise for them, but it didn't go her way.
