Merry Christmas! Here is a new chapter as my present to all of you who enjoying reading this story.
(Chapter 41)
Vlad cracked his eyes as his alarm went off. "Ugh… damn it." He forgot to turn it off the night before. Leaning over, he slammed his hand down onto the snooze button. He threw his head back and was about to drift back to sleep until a pleasant smell passed his nose. Sniffing the air, his eyes fully opened. What was that? Getting out of bed, he went straight to the kitchen. Vladimir was still sleeping in his bed as he left. "What is going on out~huh?" Sekijiro froze when he saw Izuku leaning against the counter, waving her wand as the food was made on his stove. Wait… he had a stove? He never used it, so he hardly noticed its existence.
Izuku, who had a newspaper in her left hand and her wand in her right, looked up, "Good Morning, Vlad~sama." She giggled at Sekijiro's hair. He clearly just woken up.
"Midoriya!? How did you~oh~uh never mind." The events from last night played back in his mind. He'd invited Izuku to spend the night because she was drunk. 'Doesn't she have a hangover?' If witches didn't get hangovers, then he was officially jealous.
Izuku gave a beaming smile, "I'm sorry if I woke you up. I thought I'd make you some breakfast since you were kind enough to let me sleep here." A few flames came from the pan as it hovered over the burner, "You know, Vlad-sama, you don't have a lot of food in your fridge. You're eating properly… aren't you?" There was a dangerous look in her eyes. Izuku hated when people didn't eat properly. And Vlad's quirk especially required him to be healthy. Are his iron-levels high?
Sekijiro scratched the back of his head, "Uh~ya. I guess. Where did you get this food from?"
"From your fridge."
"That was expired." He said while looking at the pan. His stomach growled as the food's scent hit his nose.
Izuku smiled at his naiveness, "It was," she waved her wand a little, "But a little magic here and there, and now you have a healthy breakfast."
"I thought you said you couldn't make food."
"I can't. Not in the way that you're thinking. I can make food good if it already exists, but I can't create it from nothingness. As for making it fresh, that's pretty simple. If you know the right spells." Izuku looked over Sekijiro and quickly glanced away. He wore the same tight red tank top from the night before and had on a pair of boxer briefs. 'H~he probably forgot I was here.'
Sekijiro noticed Izuku's strange behavior, "You okay?" It slowly dawned on him why she was acting weird. Briefly glancing down, he realized he didn't have much on in terms of clothes. Sekijiro smirked in the back of his mind. Was Midoriya checking him out? Looking over Izuku, he felt a profound need to run his hand through those soft green curls. Despite all the red he wore, green was his second favorite color. "You see something you like?" Sekijiro broke out laughing when her face turned red.
"No~nono! I wasn't ~" Her famous word vomit came pouring out. He couldn't understand a word she said.
Sekijiro gave another hearty laugh, 'Who knew she'd be so easy to embarrass.' He was eventually able to compose himself, "I'm just messing with you. I didn't mean to get ya so worked up." Though he wouldn't deny it, seeing Izuku red-faced and speaking broken words was an enjoyable sight. 'I think Akito would've thrown the pan at me if I did this.' Not bothering to get dressed, he took a seat at the cheap table he bought. He wasn't the richest hero in the world.
Izuku calmed down when she realized Sekijiro was just playing around, "O~oh. Uh~right… sorry." She wanted to slam her face against the fridge. Why must she always make a fool of herself? 'I wish I had my mother's confidence.' Taking the seat across from him, she saw him staring at the newspaper. "Care to read?" It was from the Daily Prophet.
"Thanks. Huh… the pictures are moving." He turned the newspaper back and pointed.
"It's the Daily Prophet, silly. You know, wizard news." Izuku giggled at his confused expression. She loved seeing the surprised look on muggle's faces when they see magic.
Sekijiro looked at the newspaper, and at certain sections, had to turn the paper clockwise to read. "You'd think they'd write everything straight across." Scanning the articles, he quickly became fascinated with all the information. A new potion factory was opened in Tokyo, a Vampire warning near UA, and dark wizards wanted near Hosu. "Do we have to worry about these vampires?" At the same time, he was still trying to make sure he read it correctly… vampires exist?!
"No. Vampires don't really drink blood from muggles unless they're desperate. Your blood is considered dirty to them, especially if you have a quirk. They usually drink from magical beings like wizards or veela."
Sekijiro hummed. From the corner of his eye, the food Izuku made floated onto a plate in front of him. His empty stomach growled at the sight of his breakfast. "If this is your thanks for spending the night, maybe I should keep you here more often." He smirked at her blush. She was so easy to tease. Taking a bite, his taste buds exploded. 'S~shit!' A blush of his own started to appear. He wasn't expecting the food to taste this delicious.
Izuku, who was eating her own portion, saw his face, "Is it bad? I didn't undercook it did I?" She could feel her mother's deadly glare drilling into the back of her mind. If Inko ever found out she gave someone poorly cooked food, she might as well dig her grave now. Inko was more of a health-nut than her.
"Are ya kidding? This is the best food I've had in weeks." Besides Lunch Rush's food... could he even compare the two? "I think you should be cooking food instead of Lunch Rush." If the man ever heard him, he could see the waterworks. 'Sorry, Rush.'
'Oh, thank, Merlin!' A weight lifted off her shoulders. "I'm glad you like it! I think I use magic more for cooking than I do anything else."
"That so?" Sekijiro raised a brow, "You don't use it for anything else?"
"W~well. On occasions, I might… destroy my apartment, just so I can use the repair charm." Izuku's face was entirely red.
Sekijiro thought back to a few weeks ago, when they met Gran Torino, "You mean that thing you did in the Staff Room?" If she could fix their entire Staff Room in seconds, he could only imagine how useful it would be during an emergency situation.
"Yep!" She nodded furiously.
Sekijiro choked a bit and looked to the ground, 'Damn it. She's doing it again.' Acting unnecessarily adorable. 'What the hell am I thinking? She's the farthest thing from adorable. Ugh~I'm going to hell.' Glancing back at Izuku, he stuffed his mouth with food to draw his attention away from her. He needed a distraction. He may not have the best taste in women, but even he could see Izuku was beautiful. Luscious green hair, an hourglass figure, and that bewitching smile. What did it for him, however, was her personality. One question about a hero and she'd go off on a long utterance about them, or she'd question you about your quirk. Taking every word down like gospel. Though it wasn't just her fan-girl habits… It was her caring personality. It's only been a day since he's genuinely been around her, but in that time, she had shown more care and interest in him than Akito ever had.
Izuku twirled her fingers beneath the table, 'C'mon, Izuku. Say something.' She felt like a creep for staring at him, but she couldn't help it. He only had a tank top on, and his ripped arms were on full display. 'Why doesn't Toshi-kun wear a tank top? Kuro-Sensei does… sometimes.' Izuku nearly slammed her face into the table, 'Bad, Izuku! You can't go thinking about another guy. I already have two soulmates! Paracelsus, strike me down. I'm such a hypocrite.' She brought her hands down to adjust her seat, sliding her hand across the rim. She lightly sliced her skin on a small fragment of twisted metal. "Ow!"
"Agh! Damn it." Vlad dropped his fork and grabbed his hand. Opening his palm, he saw the small cut that had appeared. 'How did I~?' Holding the fork, he looked it over. How had he cut himself?
Izuku quickly hid her hand, "I~Is everything alright?" Her heart was pounding. 'No… it's… it isn't possible.'
Sekijiro glanced up; his gruff voice was unfazed by what happened, "I'm fine. Cut my hand on the fork." Opening his hand, Izuku could see the cut in the exact same place she'd cut her own. Same depth and length.
'No… nononono.' By now, her little heart was pounded harder than a jackhammer. Oxygen escaped her lungs, and she felt light-headed. 'This is a joke. A cruel joke!' Color faded from her face. "I~I'm sorry." Gazing down at the warped metal, she brought her hand back, 'I~I need to make sure. I'm sorry, Toshi, Kuro~sensei.' Pulling her hand vertically, she winced, and she cut her hand again. The wound wasn't as deep as the first time, but still deep enough to hurt.
Sekijiro dropped his fork again, "Damn fork." He looked at Izuku, "S~sorry. Didn't mean to curse in front of ya." Opening his hand, he saw the new cut mark. 'Serves me right for buying cheap silverware.'
Izuku fell silent as she stared at Sekijiro. A wave of emotion fell over the young witch; most of it was fear. 'This isn't happening. It's a dream, please let this be a dream!' Sekijiro Kan couldn't be her third soulmate.
(Elsewhere)
All Might winced as a second cut appeared on his hand? Grabbing his wrist, he frowned, 'What's happening?' His skin was far tougher than the average person's. Shaking his head, he ignored it and glanced at his phone once more. Izuku hadn't answered any of his calls. Once he gets his hands on his Young Midoriya, she would be getting a long lecture on answering his calls. What if it were an emergency?
Toshinori studied the ring that had slipped from Izuku's hand on the desk in front of him. 'Young Midoriya will probably want this back.' Taking the tiny ring into his massive fingers, he lifted it up to the light. The ring softly vibrated before expanding. "Huh?" It was now big enough to fit his own finger. Becoming overly curious, he slid the silver ring onto his finger and clenched his fist. "W~what is~ this!?" Clenching his teeth, a wave of energy flooded his body. One for All was swirling inside him and greedily gobbling this newfound energy. All Might's eyes started to glow as his energy levels skyrocketed. How much magic was stored in this ring? All Might clench his eyes shut and felt his body grow slightly. His already tight shirt nearly ripped open, and the couch creaked as more weight was put onto it.
Thankfully, All Might didn't grow too much. Clutching his head, All Might groaned. One for All was overwhelmed with the magic coming off the ring. 'Maybe Midoriya will let me hold onto this… just for a little bit.'
(Back with Izuku)
Sekijiro walked back into the kitchen, fully dressed in a tight shirt with a red jacket. "You okay?" Why was Midoriya staring off into space? She also looked very pale. In his hand, he scratched the bandage that covered his small wound. 'I knew I should've bought that shitty silverware.' He probably looked pathetic. What hero cuts themselves with a fork, twice!?
Izuku glanced back up, "I~I'm fine. Long day ahead of me. N~no need to worry, Sekijiro-sama." But in her mind, Izuku was freaking out, 'Do I tell him? No, he'll think I'm crazy. And what about Toshi and Kuro-san? They're going to be furious.' Deep within her, she wanted to let loose the waterworks and cry. 'No, I'm not a crybaby! I won't cry. Think of Professor Snape and his angry stare.'
Sekijiro looked at the time and sighed, 'She's probably gonna leave soon… shit.' Maybe she could blow off the day and hang out with him and Vladimir. It's not like he had anything else to do. Jumping on a limb, he quickly blurted out, "Do you need me to walk you home?" He refrained from slapping his face, 'Why the hell did I ask her that?'
"I'm sorry?" Izuku felt her heart jump a little, 'No!' It was already starting. What happened with her and her other two soulmates. Izuku wanted to say no, but deep down, she knew nothing good would come of trying to squish this blooming bond, 'Don't be selfish, Izuku. It's not his fault, and he shouldn't be in pain because of you.' From her ever-expanding research on soulmates, rejecting them will cause agonizing pain to the heart. Izuku shook her head and noticed she hadn't responded yet, "U~Uh, Sure. That would be really nice." The sound of pattering little paws caught her attention. Looking past Sekijiro's legs, she witnessed the most adorable thing. Vladimir was scampering into the kitchen wanting food, but in his mouth, he also had the bone she gave him the day before.
'Crap, I forgot about Vladimir.' He'd have to take care of Vladimir before he left. Sekijiro's throat locked up as Izuku got onto her knees and began petting Vladimir. The little pull dog was tired but still loving the attention.
"Who's a good little puppy?" Vladimir's tiny tail was wagging. He rolled onto his back, and his tongue fell out when Izuku scratched his tummy. His back paw kept kicking the air. Izuku looked up at Sekijiro, smiling, while briefly forgetting her dilemma, "I know I said it before, but I just love your dog. He's such a sweet-heart. I can see someone doesn't get spoiled enough." She started scratching his sides.
"Uh~ya. Well, he's gotta eat. I also gotta make sure he uses the bathroom before we go. If you don't wanna wait for me then~" Sekijiro's face was slowly turning red. Crap, he was embarrassing himself in front of her.
"Why not just bring him along?"
Sekijiro thought about her question briefly. He had no doubt Vladimir could handle a long walk to Izuku's apartment. "You don't mind?"
Izuku looked slightly offended, "How could I mind such an adorable little angel? Besides, the walk shouldn't be too bad for him." Her apartment was far, but not too far. "And how often is it you get to spend time with your pet?"
Sekijiro's gruff voice became a bit jumbled, "Y~ya. That's fine. Why don't you wait outside? I just need to take care of a few things." Mainly feed Vladimir. But also gain his composure. How often did he get to walk with a beautiful woman with an amazing personality that loved dogs?
Nodding, Izuku got up and went outside, leaving Vlad to take care of some business. Heading down to the apartment building base, she took a seat on one of the benches near the stairs. 'We could've used that new portkey. But I don't want little Vladimir getting sick or scared.' She refused to let such a sweet little dog deal with apparition or portkey-sickness.
As Izuku waited for Sekijiro and Vladimir, one of the apartment doors opened across from her, "Damn, this day sucks." A teenage boy with short black hair stepped out. Sadly, Izuku was all too familiar with him.
Izuku's eyes widened, "Motu?" She hadn't seen him since middle school.
Motu looked over and nearly tripped over himself, "Midoriya?!" He recognized that green hair anywhere. "Uh… hey." He awkwardly waved his hand.
"Hey." Izuku had the same response. 'What is he doing here?' Did he move? "How have you been. I haven't seen you since we graduated from Aldera."
"Uh… ya." Motu looked away while blushing. Midoriya was always beautiful, but with Bakugo around, he couldn't help but insult her.
Izuku couldn't stand the awkward silence between them, "I haven't really heard much about you from Bakugo. Do you two still talk?"
Motu sneered, "That asshole?" The moment he got accepted to UA, he got thrown into the trash like some used toothpick. "No, we don't. Apparently, he thinks he's all high and mighty now that he is going to UA to talk with old friends." Rubbing the back of his neck, he felt embarrassed, "So… uh… how have you been?"
Izuku raised a brow and felt the same sense of caution she used to feel around him and Bakugo, "Why? Are you going to mock me again?"
"N~no I just… Uh… look about that. Well… sorry."
'That's a first.' Adjusting herself, she nodded, "It's okay. At least you have the decency to apologize, unlike Bakugo." She quickly glanced up at the stairs. Where was Vlad? "So, what happened to Patlu?" He was the other boy who bullied her. His quirk allowed his fingers to grow super long.
"We're going to the same high school. Hero course." Could he even call it that? All they did was read books and hardly used their quirks.
"I see." Izuku tapped her finger together. What was there to talk about? She didn't want to bring up the past; that was awkward for both of them. The only memories they had together was all the rude insults he had. Dwelling into the past, Izuku couldn't help but wonder, "Hey, Motu. Do you know what happened to Tsubasa?"
"Fat boy?" Izuku gave him a sharp glare, "I~I mean I don't know. He just sort of stopped coming to class. Why?"
"Just curious." Tsubasa bullied her, along with Bakugo, but he was the most friendly out of her group of bullies. And unlike Bakugo, she did worry about people. Despite all the cruelty, he put her through, they did grow up together. 'I haven't heard from him in so long. Did he move?'
Motu leaned against the wall, trying to look cool, "So, what brings you here?" Side-stepping her question.
"Just visiting a friend. He'll be down in a minute."
"A friend?" Since when did Izuku have a friend? Just before he could question him further, a new voice appeared from a few feet away.
"What the hell, man, what's taking you so long?" Patlu asked as he rounded the corner. Using his quirk, he poked Motu in the head. "Let's go~wah~Crap is that Midoriya!?"
Izuku groaned, 'Please not him.' Motu clearly has grown up a bit, but Patlu. Some people never change.
"Long time no see, hero-slut." Patlu gave a thumbs up. "Still rockin' that hot bod' huh?"
Izuku frowned and crossed her arms, "Patlu."
"Hey, look at that she remembers me. Come back to give me some lovin', hot-stuff?"
Midoriya grimaced at the idea, "No. I'm waiting for a friend. He's going to walk me home."
Patlu broke out laughing, "Haha~fri~friend!? You don't have any friends. You're just a quirkless loser who got lucky with a hot ass body."
Motu elbowed his friend, "Dude, knock it off." Didn't he watch the Sports Festival? Izuku definitely had a quirk; she was just a late bloomer. He also didn't want to be pulled into any more drama because of Patlu.
Izuku stood up and brushed herself, "I'd better go check on my friend."
A long finger appeared in front of her blocking her path, "Aw~c'mon, hot stuff. You know I and Motu are in the hero course at our school. Maybe we could show you a good time?" Like a creep, he licked his lips.
Izuku brushed his hand away, "Firstly, it's 'Motu and I' and secondly, not even in your dreams."
Patlu wasn't giving up that easily and pressed his hand against the railing for the stairs, "See, that's why you don't have any friends. Maybe if you opened up to some new ideas, you might find someone who'd be willing to stand your long ass rants. Word vomit, or whatever the hell you call it."
Slowly, Izuku felt her blood start to boil; the obscurus was beginning to resurface. Motu was pulling Patlu's shoulder, "Dude, just leave her alone. Bakugo is gone, so you don't have to be such an ass to her."
Patlu scoffed, "Fuck him, I'll do what I want." Patlu and Motu didn't notice the towering figure walk up behind him and pick him up by the back of his shirt.
Sekijiro growled and showed his fangs, "Is that so?" He went down the stairwell at the far end; the steps were easier on Vladimir's hips. He was against the wall listening to them. He wanted to see exactly how this would unfold before stepping in.
"Whoa, what the heck, man." He stopped struggling when he looked at the guy holding him. He was massive! The guy had white hair, two teeth protruding from his lower jaw, and a small pit bull sitting next to him.
"You have a lot of nerve to talk to a girl like that." Sekijiro's blood was boiling. If one of his students acted in such a way, he'd be shouting at the top of his lungs. 'I thought she was joking when she said they called her names.' "What's your name?"
Patlu struggled, "Hey, c'mon man, put me down. I wasn't doing anything."
"Besides insulting Midoriya. Apologize."
Patlu looked down at Izuku and back at the guy holding him, "Pff~As if. I'm not apologizing to some quirkless loser." What was he gonna do? He was a minor, and this guy would go to jail if he hit him.
Motu's face was drained of color; unlike Patlu, he knew who was holding him. Finding out your upstairs neighbor was Vlad King would make anyone surprised. "Patlu, shut up, man!"
Sekijiro growled, "Hold this," He handed Vladimir's leash to Izuku, who was clearly starting to panic. Gripping Patlu's shirt with both hands, he took a deep breath before he started shouting at him about his behavior. Izuku, Motu, and especially Patlu were terrified. "Apologize now!" Sekijiro's red eyes struck fear deep into Patlu.
Patlu shakenly turned to Izuku, "S~sorry." The second Sekijiro let go of his shirt, he bolted off.
Motu felt Vlad's heated glare turn to him now, "I~I should go." He quickly went into his apartment. Likely to soil himself.
Izuku, who was holding Vladimir in her arms, silently petted the dog. "You d~didn't have to do that." Seeing Sekijiro angry was just as frightening as All Might and All for One when they reached levels of high rage. She placed Vladimir onto the ground and handed the leash back.
Sekijiro huffed, "No respect from kids nowadays." He never acted like that to people who were older than him. He briefly glanced at where the boy ran off too, "How do you know that punk?"
"Uh." Izuku tapped her fingers together, "We grew up in the same neighborhood. He was one of the kids that bullied me, alongside Kacchan. Never thought I'd run into him again."
"How do you know Motu, though?" Vlad glared at the young teen's door. He knew his neighbors. Izuku once again reiterated how he used to torment her growing up. "Huh?" Sekijiro glared at the door, 'That little shit.' When he gets back, he'd better be ready to get a stern talking to.
"You know, before you came down, he actually apologized for how he treated me."
He glanced at her and raised a brow, "Did he?" Sekijiro and Izuku left the apartment, and thankfully Vlad was kind enough not to dig into her past. Though when he got home, he had a lot of questions for Motu.
(15 Minutes Later)
Sekijiro and Izuku stopped walking as they let Vladimir sniff around for the hundredth time. Sekijiro looked at Izuku, "Sorry 'bout him."
"Why are you sorry?" Izuku asked, "He's just sniffing around. I mean, how often does he get to be let out?"
Forcing himself to look away, Sekijiro's heart was pounding. 'Doesn't she hate anything?' Akito, Nemuri, and a few other women he knew expressed their hatred for things within a few hours after meeting them. But Izuku was just smiling like the sun. Isn't she still upset with what happened at his apartment? He was. "Hey… if ya don't mind me asking. How many kids were bullying you growing up." Now that he'd seen it first hand, something inside he was calling out for answers.
"Everyone." Izuku shrugged her shoulders and had a blank look on her face. "But for the most part, it was Bakugo and his little posse."
"Patlu and Motu." He stated aloud.
"There was also another boy, Tsubasa. But I haven't seen him since Aldera." Izuku thought back to the plumb boy, "He had red wings, and now that I remember, it was his grandfather who diagnosed me as quirkless."
Sekijiro nodded, "Hmmm… Small world, huh?"
"Smaller than you think." Dwelling back to that day, Izuku recalled the doctor who diagnosed, "I never mentioned this to Tsubasa, but his grandfather was~ uh… what's the right word?"
"Strange, old, ugly, creepy?" Vlad listed a few examples.
"No, not that. I guess sadistic." As a little girl, he scared her greatly.
Izuku's wording had Vlad on edge, "Sadistic? How?"
"He just had this atmosphere about him and a bizarre obsession with quirks. Back when he did my diagnosis, my mother was furious with him. He started off taking a sample or two of my blood and a simple x-ray of my foot. But then he kept taking more and more blood. My Mom had a fit when she found out he took almost two pints of blood from me." She was too light-headed at the time to remember, but she definitely remembers her mother screaming at him.
Sekijiro looked over Izuku, "Two pints? To see if you have a quirk?" Typically, you just scan their foot and see if they're double-jointed or not. "What was his name?"
Closing her eyes, Izuku tried remembering the man and his bushy mustache, "C'mon, I know it… oh! Daruma Ujiko. But I think he goes by Dr. Tsubasa at work." She only knew that because of Tsubasa. 'Did he take his wife's name?'
(Time Skip)
Arriving at the SoHo Apartment complex, Izuku and Sekijiro were so engrossed in the conversation they hadn't realized they arrived. Vladimir was beside Sekijiro, panting loudly. That was a long walk. Izuku glanced up at her apartment, "We'll this is my stop. Thanks for walking me home." With the Hero Killer on the loose, it wasn't safe to be walking alone, especially a blooming UA student.
Sekijiro nodded, "Mhm. No problem." An awkward silence soon consumed the two. "I'd better start heading home." He was about to walk away but saw Vladimir plop himself onto the ground.
Izuku giggled while she kneeled down to pet Vladimir, "I guess it was a long walk for this little guy." She scratched the back of his ear, "Oh! Why don't you just use the floo powder in my apartment? I don't think Vladimir is going to be able to take that long trek home."
"Floo powder?"
"Mhm! Don't worry, it's completely safe… most of the time." Her face turned red as she became embarrassed, "It will send you home instantly, so you won't have to walk all the way home. It'll also be far easier on this little guy than a portkey." She felt guilty that he decided to take time out of his day to walk her home.
Thinking it over, Sekijiro nodded, "Sure, why not." He picked up Vladimir and held him in his arms. Izuku was giving him a look that caused the hero to blush. "What?" He huffed out.
"N~nothing." She tried not to laugh. 'I wish I had my phone with me.' Seeing Sekijiro hold Vladimir like a baby was adorable. Who knew the massive man could be so gentle, especially with a little dog like Vladimir. Once they reached her apartment, Izuku unlocked the door to let her guests in. "Sorry about the mess," Vlad was about to question why until he went to the living room. "I'm usually very clean with my potions, but lately, I've been forced to break some safety precautions." Professor Snape would strangle her if he saw the state of her potions set.
On the coffee table, cauldrons of different sizes were spread out. A small black cauldron had blue bubbles floating out of it; meanwhile, a larger brass cauldron looked like it was on fire. Thankfully the flames were low enough that it didn't cause damage. Izuku waved her hands, and the materials quickly straightened out. Vials floated from the kitchen and filled themselves with the contents in the cauldrons. With the cauldrons empty, they levitated off the table and sailed into the kitchen, waiting to be washed.
Sekijiro was astonished by the magic he had just witnessed. "Nice place you got here." His heart started to pace quickly. He was in Izuku's apartment. Why was that making him so nervous? Looking at the wall to his right, he noticed a few photos were hung up. 'Is that her mother?' In a smaller framed picture, he recognizes the familiar gentle curls of Izuku's hair. She looked to be 4 or 5, and behind her was a beautiful woman. She looked almost identical to Izuku, besides a few facial differences. 'Damn… are all the women in her family beautiful?'
Izuku appeared beside him, "I remember that day," She said while looking at the photo, "I'd just gotten a new All Might action figure, and I wanted my Mom to take a photo." She covered her face. 'Such a silly reason to take a photo.'
Sekijiro chuckled, "You never said you were cute as a kid." Adorable was probably a better word. Looking at some of the other photos, he instantly noticed the massive scroll hanging from the wall. Vlad silently read it aloud, "The Ministry of Magic upon the recommendation of the Headmaster and faculty of the House of Ravenclaw do confer upon Izuku Midoriya the degree of Master of Wizardry." Signed at the bottom was Dumbledore's name and the British Minister of Magic. Setting Vladimir down, he glanced at Izuku, "What's Ravenclaw?" Hogwarts clearly didn't skimp on cheap diplomas. In fact, it looked very professional.
"Don't you remember?" Vlad shook his head, "At Hogwarts, there are four houses we are sorted into starting our first year. I was in Ravenclaw." Izuku gazed at her diploma with the utmost pride, "I'm so glad I graduated. Between my O.W.L.s and N.E.W.T.s exams, I would've thought I'd jump off the astronomy tower." Just thinking of those tests gave Izuku flashbacks of all those tears and sleepless nights. Izuku knew what Sekijiro's question was just as he opened his mouth, "The N.E.W.T.s and O.W.L.s are the two hardest exams at Hogwarts. Basically, they dictate what job you can apply for in the wizarding world."
Vlad hummed softly, "What's so hard about them?" UA gave hard tests, but he had a feeling Izuku was sugar-coating it for him.
"Besides dictating your future." Izuku zoned out as she thought about the exams. "S~sorry… horror flashbacks. If you don't pass, you can't take an advanced course of magic, which is essential." She then pointed to the names of classes listed below her diploma, "I had to get an Outstanding in ALL my classes if I wanted to take the advanced levels. At least it's over now." Aizawa tried scaring her classes with exams, but nothing would beat her fear of the O.W.L.s. It meant everything to a wizard's career at the Ministry of Magic.
Izuku and Sekijiro's attentions were drawn from the wall when they watched Vladimir skurry off onto her couch. His leash was dragged along the ground as he trotted up onto the comfy couch. "Vladimir, down." Sekijiro snapped his fingers. He didn't know if Izuku allowed animals on her furniture, and he didn't want to be rude.
Izuku softly patted his wrist, "It's okay. I don't mind him on the couch." Izuku's heart skipped a beat when a jolt of electricity shot down her spine. 'His wrist is massive.' She realized how close she was to Sekijiro and felt nervous. "S~sorry," letting go of his wrist, she quickly walked to the end of the room and opened a hutch, "Let me get the floo powder." Sorting through the potion ingredients, books, and glass contains, she found the jar of floo powder. Izuku nearly slammed her head against the inside of the hutch, 'I forgot I used it all.'
Sekijiro walked over, "You alright?" He noticed the upset look on her face from across the room.
"I'm fine, but I didn't realize I used all the floo powder I had. I can make some more, but it will take me about half an hour to make." As a certified potioneer, she was legally allowed to produce floo powder.
Sekijiro's heart jolted briefly. "I~I can wait. I don't think Vladimir can walk all the way home." Getting himself situated on the couch, he watched Izuku scurry to set up a cauldron.
"I'm so sorry, I swore I had some on hand." She felt so embarrassed. Izuku opened the top of a glass jar and poured bits of charcoal into the empty cauldron.
Sekijiro chuckled, "It's fine." He watched her grab a strange-looking bone a crush it, "Ya know, I don't think I've ever seen you make any potions before." He wouldn't deny he was fascinated as she poured weird things into the cauldron. She grabbed a large jug filled with a mysterious swirling liquid and dumped it in. Izuku closed the lid and turned on the burner below it.
"I guess so. Oh, I love potions!" Her eyes practically turned into stars as she began talking about the wonders of potion-making. "I remember the day I got my potioneering license. I was so excited. Did you know there is a potion to increase a person's insurance for weeks on end?" Izuku slapped her head, "You probably wouldn't care about that."
"Wrong again." Sekijiro couldn't stop smirking, "Are there any hard potions for you to make?" He didn't know what to ask, but he didn't want her to stop talking.
Izuku tapped her lips and thought about his question, "Polyjuice potion can be difficult. It allows the drinker to take the form of anyone, so long as they add their hair into the potion."
"Their hair?" Vlad gagged a bit at the idea of drinking someone's hair, "Sounds disgusting. But can you really change into them?" He was doubtful that some drink would change you into someone else, but what did he know?
"Yep! The potion isn't always gross. You don't need hair, but it's better than using their spit or skin."
As their time winded down, Sekijiro found himself enamored with the little witch. Meanwhile, Vladimir was sound asleep to his right. Being so close to this excited witch was making him nervous. Izuku tapped her fingers together and avoided his gaze, "Vlad-sama, I was wondering. Do you have any teaching advice?"
That question threw him off guard, "Why?"
"Well… Principal Nezu decided to sign me up as a temporary potions teacher while we're at Hogwarts. But I don't know the first thing about officially teaching. I've tutored students, but I've never really given full lesson plans." Sekijiro threw his head back and gave a hearty laugh. Izuku's face burned with embarrassment, "H~hey, don't laugh! What? I don't know how to teach."
Sekijiro toned down his laughing before speaking, "I'm not sure if I'm the guy you wanna get teaching advice from."
"Why not?" Izuku had a look of innocent confusion.
"Uh… because…" He didn't know what to say. Was she really asking him for teaching methods? "I don't think my teaching methods will help you. It's something you're gonna have to learn on your own."
"Aw~but everyone in your class loves you. If I'm gonna be a teacher for a month, I don't want to be like Aizawa-sensei. Please! I wanna be a respected-fun-loving teacher like you." Izuku would have loved to ask Toshinori or Kuro, but… Toshinori still had trouble giving advice. And Kuro was harsh with his teaching methods. She wanted to be loved and respected, like Vlad. All his students spoke highly of him; clearly, he was doing something right.
Sekijiro nearly choked on his own spit. His face felt like it was on fire, and it was becoming harder for him to breathe. "I~I uh~guess I can help you. Maybe I could show you how to plan a lesson?"
"Really!? Oh, thank you!" Izuku was sitting right next to him and virtually radiating excitement. Just before things could get too exciting for Midoriya, she noticed the time from the clock hanging on the wall, "The floo powder is ready." Opening the lid on the cauldron revealed a fine green powder. "Nothing better than fresh floo powder. It makes traveling smooth on the body." She motioned her hand to powder, "Go on, take a handful. Oh, and don't forget Vladimir, I know you wouldn't want to leave him behind."
Sekijiro lifted his dog and held him in one arm while grabbing a handful of the powder. "Now what?" He was a little nervous about this.
"Just say your address and throw it at your feet." Usually, she'd have him do this in a fireplace, but she'll clean the mess after he leaves. "And make sure you speak very carefully. One miss pronounced word could land you anywhere." She leaned forward and gave Vladimir a quick scratch behind his ear. "See you, Little Buddy." The sleepy dog snuggled in Vlad's arm.
Sekijiro took a step back, "So I just say my address?" Izuku nodded. "Alright. I'll see you around. Uh~" He cleared his throat, "I'm free this weekend. If you want, you can stop my place again, and I can give ya a few pointers in lesson planning."
"This weekend?" Izuku bit her lip. 'I have to meet with Toshi and Kuro as soon as possible.' nevertheless, she nodded, "How about Sunday?" Sekijiro nodded. Sunday was fine with him.
The moment finally came, and Sekijiro threw the green powder at his feet while reciting his address. Green flames consumed him and Vladimir. Sekijiro stumbled back as the fire consumed him and was startled to find himself back in his apartment. Midoriya and her apartment had melted away… he was alone again. 'What am I doing?' He set Vladimir down and removed his collar. He was a little startled by the flames. "Sorry, Buddy." He ran his hand down his back. Sekijiro thought about what he just agreed to. He was going to give Izuku a lesson in teaching; this shouldn't be happening. Their contact should have ended after today. 'I need a drink.' He refused to allow himself to get attached to another person… especially someone as kind as Midoriya. She was Aizawa's student!
Meanwhile, Izuku fell slightly forward and gripped her knees. "This can't be happening." Sekijiro was her third soulmate, and now she had to tell Toshinori and Kuro. "How am I going to tell them?" The severity of her situation started to dawn on her, and all color left her face. "I~I just need to watch some TV. Clear my head a bit." Turning on the TV, she tuned into the news. They were currently talking about Stain. However, Izuku's troubles were far from over. An image appeared behind the news anchor showing a black mass destroying a street.
The remote in Izuku's hand dropped to the table as she watched the recording. 'I… I remember.' The question she kept asking herself all day was finally answered. She lost control of her obscurus and killed innocent muggles.
(Nomu Factory)
Daruma tapped his fingers against the arm of his chair as he stared at the skinny blue-haired boy in front of him. "What is it, boy? Can't you see I'm busy?" He arrived back at the Nomu factory and was furious upon his arrival. 'I knew All for One was against my research but to do this!' After all they've been through, Daruma was furious to learn that years of his research was destroyed. His lab was a mess when he arrived, and a few Nomu growing in their incubation chambers were on the floor.
Tomura scratched his neck, frantically, "Master wants a few Nomu for the next attack." He was making a risky gamble right now.
Daruma had a murderous look, "After what he's done here, he has the nerve to demand my life's work!" The mad doctor leaned back, "Get out of my lab. Now!"
Tomura didn't move and started laughing a little, "Something the matter?"
"Do not tempt me, boy. I am in no mood to help you or All for One. Leave me to my research." He was going to have to start the incubation process over for his next-generation Nomu.
Tomura inched forward a bit, "Maybe we can help each other in our goals. What if I could let you have all the fun you wanted with your little toys?" His scratching was growing sporadic.
Daruma narrowed his eyes, "As if a child like you could offer anything substantial to my work." Maybe if he were to submit himself as a new Nomu… he might reconsider. Tomura's quirk fascinated him. 'Such a powerful quirk wasted on this child.'
"What if I told you we could rid ourselves of our beloved Sensei?"
Daruma gave him a sharp and dangerous look, "I'm listening." As far as Daruma was concerned, All for One meant nothing to him for this deep betrayal. To destroy his research and Nomu was unforgivable. But with All for One gone… then he wouldn't be held back in his research. Tomura pulled a photo out of his sleeve. It was a picture of a very familiar girl with green hair from the Sports Festival. Daruma laughed as he listened to this boy's petty plan for revenge. But he was thoroughly enamored with getting his clutches on this girl. 'Miss Midoriya… it's been far too long since your last check-up with me.' He never forgets a face, especially from a girl whose blood was so… unique. He still remembers the day he diagnosed her as quirkless. But when he saw her blood and the structure of her DNA. Her mother was a fool for not handing the girl over to him. It was in the name of science. Daruma wasn't sure how this would help them get rid of All for One. But he wanted this girl. A live specimen would be better for his research, but he doesn't mind the bloodied remains either.
(12 Hours Later)
All Might tapped his foot as he wanted for Izuku to arrive. The sun had set, and she was supposed to be coming back later for their nightly patrol. She sent a text earlier that she was feeling better. 'She's late.' The massive door to his office opened, and in stepped Midoriya. She looked terrible. While she did have her costume on, her expression was blank, and she was deathly pale. Jumping up, he went towards her, "Now, Midoriya, while I can accept you being a few minutes late. I expect you to let me know when you're sick." He didn't want to reprimand her, but he was her mentor for the week.
Izuku looked at Toshinori and opened her mouth to speak, but she quickly closed it. She nodded softly, "Sorry. It won't happen again." She could barely talk.
Standing up tall, his hands held her shoulders, and he laughed, "Cheer up, Young Midoriya. I am not angry with you, but I do expect a bit more communication about your health." Reaching into his suit, he pulled out a silver ring. "You left before I could give this back to you." Leaning forward, he presented her ring.
Izuku gasped before snatching the ring and slipped it on, "W~wha~where did you find it?!"
"It slipped into my hand when you left. Is there something you wish to tell me, Midoriya?" Taking a gentler tone, Toshinori gave her a massive smile. Instead of getting her usual smile as a response, she just shook her head.
"No." Izuku whipped her cheek. She had more makeup on than she liked, but it was the only way to hide the tear stains. Ever since she saw the news this morning, she had been crying her eyes and heart out. Not only did she have to explain to her Toshinori and Kuro, she had another soulmate, but she killed innocent people. At this point, she was beyond tears and left in a weakened state of despair. "A~actually, can we talk about it later… with Sensei?"
All Might crossed his arms, "Hmmm… alright, I won't push it." He put his hand behind her back and gave a pat, "Come. We are going to Hosu."
Taking a deep breath, Izuku mentally prepared herself, 'C'mon, get yourself together.' Now was not the time to be emotional; she was working. "Why are we going to Hosu?"
"There is rumor of the Hero Killer somewhere near Hosu, and we are going on reconnaissance."
Izuku forced a smile and tried to act like her usual self, "Can we really do reconnaissance with you? I think you might cause a riot with your fans."
"Ahahaha!" All Might pulled her along as they left his office, "Off we go!" He picked up in his arms and bolted through the atrium and out an open window in the ceiling. Meanwhile, Janet, who was working late, had hearts in her eyes. She was such a hopeless romantic, and it was torture trying to contain her excitement. All Might was dating someone!
(Hosu)
Izuku walked besides All Might, or at least she tried to. True to her statement at Might Tower, crazed fans were running, asking for an autograph. 'I guess he forgot the coin I gave him in his office.' Trying her best to weave through the crowd back to his side. All Might reach through the group and grab her arm, pulling her to his side.
"Haha!" He attempted to settle the crowd, "Please calm down and form a line. You all nearly crushed my intern!"
Izuku was overwhelmed as part of the crowd now turned to her. People were taking pictures of them, and one boy came up asking for both their signatures. This was a bit overwhelming for the young witch. 'I've been in the spotlight before, but muggles are so different.' There was far more energy and excitement. Though she wasn't one to judge. She still has her fan-girl moments with All Might. Most of the girls her age that were in the crowd looked at her with jealous and envious eyes.
After dealing with the crowd, All Might and Deku walked through the streets. "You handled that beautifully, Young Midoriya!" All Might said while looking back at her.
Izuku smiled briefly but was still riled up from all the attention. She didn't deserve their recognition… not after what she did. "I~I've been in the spotlight before, but never like that." All Might isn't the best at paperwork, but dealing with large crowds and taking out villains is where he excelled. 'I guess my book smarts can only get me so far.' Izuku did her best to keep up with All Might. His strides were larger than hers. "All Might-sama? How do you handle all this attention?"
All Might was quick to respond, "Learning to cope with fans is something you'll have to be prepared for, Young Midoriya. But you must also be cautious. I've seen far too many heroes attacked by a villain lurking with the crowd." He was almost afraid he had lost her in the sea of fans.
Izuku nodded while listening to his words like gospel. "Do you have any way for us to gather intel on the Hero Killer?" She knew a few tracking spells, but they only worked if she had some hair or blood from the person they were looking for.
"The Hero Killer has been known to catch unaware heroes in back alleys, typically away from large crowds. I advise we~" Before he could finish, they were stopped when they heard a loud explosion. Off in the distance, they could see fires erupting from a few blocks away. However, what caught their attention was a large number of Nomu running along the rooftops before jumping towards the street. All Might and Izuku took off towards the destruction, but All Might stopped her with his hand. "Stay and help people to safety." Bending his knees, he jumped high into the air and punched one of the Nomu.
Izuku wanted to run and help, but she knew better than to go against Toshinori. 'I don't have a provisional license. Stupid law.' The wizarding world functioned differently. While there were Aurors, it wasn't illegal to fight if you witnessed an accident or dark wizards. It was the right of all wizards to defend themselves against the dark arts or save muggles. Despite Izuku not having a provisional license she knew how to protect herself, especially with a wand.
Running towards the fires, Izuku followed All Might's command and escorted people to safety. One older woman was a shaking mess as Izuku carried her to safety, "It's alright, you're safe now." Setting the woman down, she looked back at the fires. 'These are growing out of hand.' By a stroke of luck, the pro-hero Manual came running down the street. Izuku was about to move, but she caught sight of a particular Nomu that made her freeze. It seemed so minor in detail… but Midoriya was sure she had seen those specific wings on a flying Nomu with yellow skin.
"Manual! Stop the fire!" A hero with horns said as he ripped a fire hydrant out of the ground.
'That's the Manual, the Normal Hero. Iida is at his agency.'
Manual looked around as he ran towards the hydrant, "Why'd you run off by yourself? Where the hell are you, Tenya!? Damn it." Sticking his hand out, Manual manipulated the water to shoot towards the fire.
Izuku stopped, 'Wait, he went off alone? Despite what's happening?! That doesn't sound like something he'd do.' Izuku knew Iida would never just 'take off,' especially in an emergency.
A hero with a red scarf around her neck stood in front of Izuku. "You're in the way, kid. Get out of here!"
Izuku felt like an idiot for standing there, "Right, I'm so sorry." The Nomu were fighting a few heroes. 'Where is All Might!?' Listening through the sound of screams and fire, she could make out his laugh deeper in the flames. 'There must be more Nomu further back.' A Green Nomu was blown through the fire and became impaled on a railing.
"We can hold these things back on our own. Evacuate with everyone else."
Manual kept his focus as he attempted to douse the fire, "We could've used the extra hands."
Midoriya felt her world freeze as a realization crept into her mind, 'Hosu City. Guys who look like Nomu… Iida. Hosu… where the Hero Killer attacked.' Izuku tried to deny her suspicions but felt a deep sense of danger in her bones, 'Don't tell me!?' Spinning around, she ran off towards the closest alley, avoiding the massive explosion from one of the Nomu. Before leaving, she briefly turned around and pointed her wand at Manual. The hero was so focused on extinguishing the fires he didn't notice the invisible shield forming around him. 'I wish I could do more, but I need to find Iida.' Of all the heroes, Manual was in the most compromising position, so he needed extra protection.
Izuku forced her magic into her legs and started running at an almost impossible speed, though it was still nowhere near All Might's. 'Iida, please don't be stupid. Don't try and find the Hero Killer alone!' His need to avenge his brother was the only logical reason he would take off in an emergency… he was out for revenge. Clearly, it didn't matter that his brother was healed; it was likely the fact that he nearly lost his brother in the first place. 'Please, Merlin, don't let Iida find him.' Or the other way around. Midoriya was so focused on searching through different alleyways she overlooked the short hero with a yellow and white costume jumping through the air.
Gran Torino was just trying to take a nice train ride home, and now he was forced to fight because some Nomu decided to burst into his train car. 'I'm too old for this nonsense.'
(Meanwhile)
High above Hosu, on a rooftop, Tomura was smiling with his arms crossed. Tonight he was going to crush two birds with one stone. The media was going ballistic with the news of Midoriya's internship under All Might, and with the Hero Killer's activity, it was the perfect time to strike.
Behind Tomura was a Nomu with purple skin. Purple mist was escaping the mindless brute, and it looked vastly similar to Kurogiri's quirk. Doctor Daruma truly outshined himself on the newest generation of Nomu. 'Everything is falling into place.' This attack on Hosu was just a small scratch on his betrayal to All for One. 'This is what you wanted, wasn't it, Father? To see the world burn?' He would lead the League of Villains in the right direction… no matter the cost. And his first declaration to his resolve was to exterminate the girl who ruined everything. 'She's just a worthless bug that needs to be squashed.'
(Cliffhanger!)
(Author Notes)
Sorry to cut it so short, (please don't hate me!) but just know we will be hearing about Stain and his fight with Midoriya and Iida. Will Shota appear? What is happening in the flames with All Might (Will he notice Izuku is gone?) But more importantly… What will All for One's reaction be to the Nomu being used without his permission? Despite Tomura's childish nature of being immature, he is dedicated to one thing and that is watching the world burn. With a certain Doctor at his side, I'm sure we can expect nothing but trouble.
And while there might be a bit of concern about the League of Villains in the training camp… you will just have to wait and see. All I can say for now is All for One is not going to be happy. Could he be losing his grip over the underworld and not even realize it? O.O
I hope all of you enjoyed this chapter and I waited specifically to give this out on Christmas as it is my gift to all of you! (Technically it is christmas eve for me). Also I hope all of you are enjoying the addition of Sekijiro. I've said it before but I just adore that man and feel he doesn't get nearly enough love.
Hmmm… I do wonder if we'll ever see Death again. Lets just say… he is always where he should be and lingers only where he wants to be. *Ominous music sounds*
