Sorry for the delay on updates. Here's just a quick chapter for Mia. Enjoy and thanks for reading.
Mia sat back in her chair, totally exhausted in every way possible. She rubbed her left shoulder, which was still sore from the latest attempt on her life, having landed awkwardly after jumping from a moving train. She still couldn't believe Theron was the traitor. He wasn't just her advisor, he was her friend. Or so she thought.
Lana walked in, looking almost as depressed as Mia felt.
"Anything, Commander?" She asked, taking a seat next to her.
"No. Neither Master Satele or Commander Malcom know anything about Theron's whereabouts. Doesn't really surprise me, considering he's not close with either of them."
"Do you believe they are telling the truth?" Lana asked, not convinced.
"They'd have no reason to lie. Jedi normally don't lie and if Jace knew anything, so would Kia, and she'd tell me. No, I think they're both telling the truth. I did get some interesting news on the sister front, though. Kia's pregnant."
Lana's eyes widened. "Really? I thought Jedi weren't allowed to have children."
"They're not. But, then again, they're also not allowed to have ten year long affairs with men twice their age, but Kia's always been a little different. And this wasn't exactly planned."
"You're going to be an aunt. I guess congratulations are in order."
Mia stood, pacing. "The father of her baby is Supreme Commander Malcom. I just keep thinking...if Theron had known he was going to be a brother, would he have done all this? What if that call from Ki had come two days ago, rather than today, would he have gone through with his plans?"
"You'll make yourself crazy thinking like that, Commander. We have no idea why Theron betrayed us. Once I can get him in an interrogation chair, he'll talk. I know all about his implants and how to deactivate them." She sounded almost excited about the idea of torturing Theron.
"Slow down, Lana. I'm still not convinced he's gone bad. There has to be more going on here." She held her hand up to silence Lana. "I know you think I'm crazy, but I just have this feeling. I wish I had some of my sister's talent."
Lana shrugged. "He fooled me, too, so her talent might not have helped, but her gifts are a bit different than mine. Maybe if she were to talk to him..."
"Definitely not. Kia's agreed to stay out of this whole Theron thing. She has more important concerns, at the moment, even if they're slightly linked with my mess." Mia stopped pacing and sat back down. "In any case, I'm not giving up on Theron. Not yet."
"I'll follow you in whatever direction you want, Commander, even if I don't like it."
Mia placed a hand on Lana's shoulder. "I know that Lana and you'll never know just how much I appreciate it."
