What's up guys! I think this'll be the second last chapter. Hope you enjoy!
Sorry to everyone here at . I released this chapter in Wattpad like 5 hours ago, but Wattpad was being a lil b* and not letting me copy and paste to here on my phone. So I had to try loads of stuff to try get it to work, then eventually messed about with it on the computer until it worked. Apologies!
BJack12: Nah, it is Pertemis after all lmao. But they won't be back together for quite a while, Percy not really wanting to forgive her.
Mika1303: Glad to see you're still enjoying it! In the second book I'll probably be keeping the new plot twists to a minimum, more just resolving all of the ones from this book.
TheMeister7 and IAmOutOfIdeas: Yeah, that's what I was thinking really. It'll be the overarching thing for the second book.
Idkwut2puthere: I know this is from like two chapters ago, but still! I've been waiting 4- no, 5000 years for this! I rly don't know how noone else saw it lmao.
Happy reading, people!
Percy appeared with Orion in tow in an abandoned clearing. He threw the wounded giant in front of him, and his face twisted in anger. "How dare you do that to Celyn," he snarled at the floored giant. "What, were you going to do that to Artemis too?"
Orion smirked, despite his situation. "Eventually? I probably was, yeah."
Percy's face darkened with rage and he raised his trident, but was interrupted by three people appearing behind him. He spun around, instantly on guard, but it was just Alex, Apollo and Zeus. It seemed Alex had been looking for him and the two gods had helped him along.
Zeus and Apollo nodded solemnly at Percy. "Well done. Let's finish the prick off," Apollo said, angrily starting forward.
But then hesitated as Orion cockily stick a finger up. "No you don't, Apollo." Orion said, wagging it slowly. "You see, you guys have fallen right into my trap. MONSTERS, COME FORTH!"
The two demigods and two gods all looked around and saw an army of monsters, even bigger than Polybotes' masses, march forward from all directions.
"I had them lying in wait just out of reach of the hunters' camp," Orion grinned. "Just in case anything went wrong. ATTACK!"
Zeus and Apollo stepped away slightly, regretful looks on their faces.
"I am sorry, Perseus. But the Ancient Laws render us unable to attack in this battle. All we can do is stand and kill any monster that tries to harm us personally." Zeus said.
Percy's eyebrows shot up. Zeus was actually apologising, and to him no less. What, had the King of the Gods decided to undergo some 'how to be a nice guy' classes or something?
Actually, knowing how Hestia had been nagging at him, that was always a possibility.
At first, the enemy monsters swarmed Zeus and Apollo. But when they realised that as soon as they tried to strike at the gods, they would be fried or burned to death instantly, and if they left them alone they were fine, the army instantly gave them a wide berth and rushed for Percy and Alex.
Suddenly, Percy realised that Orion had disappeared. His head swung around wildly, trying to spot the giant, and then he saw Orion at the other end of the clearing, being tended to by some empousai. They were dousing him in water, and to Percy's horror, the giant seemed to be healing slowly.
We need to get this army finished off quickly, Percy thought quickly.
He and Alex activated their armour, and settled into defensive positions. They faced off against the monsters, analysing them with calm eyes.
Twenty feet.
At most, that was the distance between the two boys and a host of over a thousand monsters. Hellhounds, cyclopes, dracaena, Hyperboreans and Laistrygonians.
Looking between the sides, Apollo couldn't help but grin at how epic it looked. "This deserves a haiku!"
Sons of Poseidon
Who awesomely stand their ground
I'm filled w-
Zeus smacked his hand over his son's mouth, raising his lightning bolt threateningly. "After the giant war, I told you one thing! NO MORE HAIKUS!"
Percy and Alex grinned at the two gods' attempt to raise their spirits. Maybe Zeus wasn't so bad. And at least telling them they looked awesome was a nice confidence boost.
Looking at the horde before him, Percy could only think one thing.
No matter how tough this might get. It'll be fun.
At the same time, he and Alex leapt forward, yelling battle cries in anger. They landed on two cyclopes, their momentum knocking the monsters over. Both cyclopes were quickly killed. The brothers then turned and stepped backwards so they were back to back, and started ferociously spinning their tridents, deflecting weapons and slicing monsters.
Oscar and Sadie, who had apparently showed up at some point, charged through the ranks of the monster army, ripping through legs and heads. Percy and Alex smiled proudly despite being attacked.
Then Percy stepped forwards a little. He made his trident shoot around the two in a rapidly widening circle, so fast that it sliced every monster it touched in half. Soon, the boys stood alone in a clear circle about ten metres wide, their dogs prowling back to crouch next to them.
Monsters hesitated at the edge of the circle, looking at the ground now shining with golden dust and then at Percy, who had just caught his trident again.
Then Percy and Alex saw Orion get up, flexing his muscles. "Ah, that's better. WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR? KILL THEM!"
At the sight of their most hated enemy so far, both boys' eyes glinted with unbridled fury. They sat down, their backs to one another and their tridents hovering above them. Oscar and Sadie curled up on either side of the two, sensing that something big was about to happen.
Then, Percy stretched out a hand and curled it, as if he was beckoning something over.
The monsters, still hesitating, watched apprehensively.
In the hunters camp...
Artemis looked around wildly for any sort of clue or hint as to where Percy could have taken Orion. She had just helped Celyn back to the camp, and left her with some of her friends.
But she had no idea of where to go now. Yes, she was the god of hunting, but really. How can you track something if it teleports?
She slowly made her way over to the lake by which the hunters were staying, a tear leaking out of her eye. She sat down on the shore, thinking.
Now look what I've done. I'll be lucky if Percy even looks at me kindly again, judging by what happened to the Athena girl.
"Why couldn't I just listen? How did I fall for his tricks!" The goddess cried. "Please, I just want to know where Percy is..." She murmured, pulling her knees up to her chest and burying her face in her arms.
And, as if answering her, the lake started churning. Water, about ten tonnes of it, rose up slowly, revolving and splashing in a spherical shape. Artemis looked up in awe at it. "Percy?"
Suddenly, the water shot off over the trees. Her face now full of hope, Artemis started to run after it, although since it was faster than her and she also had to avoid trees, it quickly got far ahead of her.
Then, in the distance, she saw it stop and descend. Then her godly hearing was able to make out a lot of commotion.
This was it! Artemis sped up, jumping over logs and dodging trees without even slowing her pace.
She had to get back to him. She simply had to.
Back at the battlefield...
The monsters all looked up and started shouting as at least ten tonnes of water appeared over them all. Percy, now with Alex's help, turned it into a hollow cylinder, and made it descend on top of them and the dogs.
Then, Percy made it spin. Soon, it was a full blown hurricane. Then he narrowed it down, till it was extremely thin at the bottom and massively wide at the top, and as tall as the Empire State building.
The monsters, Orion, Zeus and Apollo all looked up at this in awe. Two demigods, and they were making a water tornado this big? Apollo and Zeus quickly spoke in Percy's mind.
Perce! Are you okay?
Perseus, are you sure that the strain is not too great?
I'm...fine, guys. Percy replied. You just...protect the trees and wildlife and all that. The Laws will let you do that, right?
Yes. We can do that. Good luck, Perseus. And you too, Alexander, Zeus replied. The two sons of Poseidon were growing on him, he thought. He was gaining some newfound respect for them at least.
Unknown to Zeus, Alex scowled inside the liquid tornado. "What's up with him! My name's just Alex!" He complained.
Percy grinned. Zeus, being Zeus, would try and find a more formal sounding name no matter what, he thought amusedly.
Meanwhile, Zeus and Apollo were carrying out their part of this cobbled together plan. Any time water shot out of the tornado, having been just torn out of Percy's control by the sheer speed, Apollo would shoot a hot ray of sunlight at the it, turning it into steam immediately and making sure it didn't slice through any trees.
And when Zeus saw a tree start to lean towards the cyclone, in danger of being pulled out of the ground and into it, he would summon some wind in the opposite direction to stabilise it again.
Back inside the dangerous tornado, all was calm. Percy could now understand why it was called the calm in the eye of the storm. Everything was silent, the only sounds being that of the liquids swirling around them. For two sons of Poseidon however, that just made things more peaceful. Their dogs nuzzled into them, calm and encouraging, and through their intense concentration they both smiled.
Percy took a deep breath, gathering his strength, and then made the tornado spin faster. Soon, monsters were sucked into it, hundreds and thousands of them, until none of the army except only five Hyperboreans and two Laistrygonians were left standing, along with Orion, who had somehow retrieved his bow and braced it into the ground.
Alex smiled happily. He and Percy had come up with this idea back when they first met, as a joke. And they thought it would always remain as a joke, due to how much strength it would need. But they had become so powerful that, pushing themselves to the limit, it was now a possibility.
The younger son of Poseidon turned half of the water into shards of ice. Then, straining himself to the absolute last drop of strength, he made the shards go in the opposite direction to the water, tearing through all of the monsters and killing them all. But he could feel his strength waning. Then, with his final spurt of energy, he froze the whole thing to make sure none of the surrounding plants or wildlife were damaged or killed. He left a small doorway at the bottom so they could leave, though.
The dogs padded out, and the two boys staggered out as well.
All the remaining fighters stared at them in awe, looking up at the massive frozen sculpture behind them. It was gold from the sheer number of monsters killed inside it, making it look even more impressive.
Alex, having less stamina, promptly collapsed. Percy glared at the remaining giants, knowing he was about to drop as well. I need some water, he thought. Then he slapped his forehead. He had a whole frozen tornado of it right behind him.
Using his small control over ice, he melted some and pulled it over to him, coating his forearms with it like armour. He felt the strength and energy rush into him again, and grinned. He should do this every battle. This way, he kept the energy boost at all times, and didn't need a water source next to him.
Percy didn't even play around. He hurled his trident, and brought out Riptide. His trident flew straight through one Laistrygonian's head, and impaled itself in the other's face. The first one crumbled, immediately dead, and Percy pulled the trident back to him, sending the other flying over as well. He landed on the ground, and Percy quickly killed him with a stab of Riptide.
He then turned to the Hyperboreans, who had been staring in shock as he easily took out their allies. All five simultaneously groaned. "Uh oh..."
Percy sprinted towards them, but he didn't know how he was going to kill one without the others killing him. Suddenly, every giant was impaled by a long shaft of ice coming from the ground behind Percy, penetrating through their chests and making them unable to move.
Percy froze and turned around, to see Alex lying with his hand outstretched. He had seemingly collapsed in the water that had been in the doorway, which had given him an energy boost. But he'd used said water to make the ice, so he was fainting again.
"Ice won't...harm them... Bro," he said weakly, gesturing at the ice giants. "Kill them...quickly." He fainted again, and Apollo rushed to do healing magic on him.
Percy rushed at the giants, clambering up the first one and slicing its head off. He then cut the heads off two more by throwing his trident, and Oscar and Sadie took care of the other two by crashing into their legs so hard that they smashed.
Finally, Percy turned to Orion, who was shaking again. "H- How?"
Apollo and Zeus stepped up behind him, and Alex, reenergized, walked to beside his brother. Then the younger demigod realised that he'd already gotten revenge for Celyn, and watching the three fight together would be a good learning experience. Plus, he was tired. He went and sat down by the side, leaning back on his hands. He then realised that a presence to the side had just entered the clearing and glared straight at it, recognising it.
Meanwhile, Percy, Apollo and Zeus all held their weapons at the ready and tensed. Orion began to feel like a cornered rat.
And you know what they say about cornered rats.
