War of the Bands - Final - track 3

It's the final day of the War of the Bands, and the competition is at its climax. But before the winner is announced, we'll have a music festival where all the bands that participate in the show will make a special and awesome presentation.

And while the music is on the stage, the winner is being chosen by the public. Who will win the war and become the Best Juvenile Band of Canada? Find it here in War of the Bands – The Final.

"Hellooooow! I'm Lindsay. And I'll be your host for the thrilling last episode of the War of the Bands," announced Lindsay in an excited tone. She was wearing a white version of her dress with a golden bandana.

"Wow! These guys have put on such wonderful and amazing performances that any of them deserved to win, but sadly only one of them can be the winner and take the prize. What is the prize again? 100,000 dollars? Isn't that a little cheap?" asked Lindsay raising an eyebrow, making the public burst into laughter.

She then shrugged and made a charming smile at the camera. "But before deciding who the winner is, we still have more performances. So keep enjoying this festival the contestants put just for you. This is the War of the Bands, the final, stay tuned."

On the dressing rooms, the Black Unicorn received the third host with more enthusiasm than the second.

"She really knows how to excite the crowd," said Cody, looking at her hotness with sparkling eyes.

"Cody, stop drooling and come. We're going next," said Trent, finding B and Duncan at the door, "great timing, B, we're next."

The big man shook his head and shrugged.

"What do you mean isn't our turn yet?" asked Trent, perplexed

"The staff said our turn will go after the next group," explained Duncan, taking his seat next to Ella.

Trent also went back to his seat, looking with curiosity at the screen. He believed that production wouldn't let them perform.

War of the bands Final Xtra presentation 6: Devil's Muse

"And now it's the turn for the 3rd place of the competition. There are like a lot of rumors about their performance, but as I do with names, let's forget about it. This is a festival to enjoy ourselves and the music, so let's hear them," said Lindsay pointing at the stage.

Her hotness kept looking at the band taking their position on the stage. Then her eyes went wide with shock. She took a note out of her pocket and began to read it. "Oh, yeah, they're Rock, Spud, and Taylor, featuring Lorenzo and Chet. They will perform 'In the end[1]' by Linking Park, let's hear them, yeah!"

"I can't believe we're here, bro. This will be amazing," said Chet taking the bass.

Lorenzo stretched his finger in front of the DJ's console, smiling at his stepbrother. "Yeah, let's show the crowd our brothers' skills."

"Rock, thanks for hearing my selfish request," said Taylor, with a nervous smile on her face.

"Don't worry, dudette, you have relaxed a lot. Also, Alejandro would do the same," Rock smiled and gave thumbs up at the girl as he took his guitar.

"What? Alejandro isn't playing at the final?" asked Spud, with wide eyes, sitting at the drums.

"No Spud, and we aren't in the finals," replied Rock looking at Spud with wide eyes.

The brunette drummer looked back at him, shocked. "WE LOSE! WHEN?"

"Last week. Dude, this is a new record even for you," said Rock scratching his head.

Taylor chuckled, forgetting her nerves, "Like thanks, guys, now I'm relaxed."

The performance was excellent. Rock sing and play the guitar, as Lorenzo put the sound effects, Spud the drums, and Chet the bass, even if Taylor's voice was more amateurish than in the past performances.

The girl's singing voice wasn't horrible, but it lacked the skill and tone she usually put in her songs. Only a few viewers knew this was her real voice.

But the passion and feeling in the song were completely different. Even as she sang 'I had to fall/ To lose it all/But in the end/It doesn't even matter,' it sounded as if she was really singing about herself, even tears dropping by her face at the end.

The crowd didn't care about the technical details. They started cheering and clapping at the performance. Maybe it wasn't as good as before, but it surely touched many people in the audience.

Lindsay was sniffing, trying to not cry as she went up the stage. "That is the kind of performance you can't fake. When you put all your self in the song. This was amazing, great work Thalia, well done."

"I can't believe they let them perform after what they did," said Trent frowning.

"Come on, Trent, they also love music, and they seem to regret it. It is that not enough to forgive them?" asked Ella smiling tenderly

B smiled, Ella was right. There was no sense in holding grudges. Maybe he needed to visit certain someone in prison after the show.

"Trent, stop arguing and come. We're going next," said Cody, jumping out of his chair.

"Hey, that's not fair. You steal my line," chuckled Trent. He and B went just behind the brunette guy.

War of the bands Final Special performance A: The Finalists.

"Well, as part of tonight's surprise, we'll have two joint performances between H-tonics and Black Unicorn," said Lindsay in an excited voice, the public cheering.

"The first song is a classic from the Drama Brothers, the former youth band from Toronto in which Trevor, Cole, and Harry were members. They'll now perform with Bob and Mickey a version of their classic, 'When I cry[2]' let me hear that cheering!" said Lindsay, cheering herself while going down the stage.

"Let's do it like in the good old times," said Trent taking his guitar.

Harold smiled as he took the mic. "Wicked, man, I never imagine I would be in the position to say this, but I'm really enjoying the prospect of playing again with you."

"It's an honor to perform with you. My Zoey really loved the Drama Brothers, even before you were famous," said Mike, taking deep breaths to control his nerves.

"Don't worry, man, you will be ok, just follow the Codemeister," replied Cody, smiling widely. He was excited to perform one last time as a Drama Brother.

B nodded and twirled the drumsticks in his hand just before the lights on the scenario turned off.

Then a spotlight illuminated the other entrance to the backstage. From there entered a handsome and strong build man, his smile melting the hearts of all the audience. He raised his arms, and the audience went crazy.

Trent looked at him with wide eyes. "Why are you here?"

"Production asked me to perform with you. I even bring my own tambourine," said Justin, making finger guns at the guitarist.

"Cool man, just like in the old times," exclaimed Cody, giving Justin a fist bump.

"As much as I personally dislike this idiot. I see no harm in performing one last time with him," said Harold, still resenting the male model for making fun of Heather.

"I also love you, Harold," replied Justin showing his best smile at the crowd that cheered wildly.

B hit his drumsticks 4 times and then gave thumb ups at his bandmates, showing he was also ready and waiting to start.

"Well, let's do this," said Trent, playing the guitar.

The song was a remix of the original. The beatbox was accompanied by the percussions which were absent on the original. Mike was making the beatbox so Harold could sing along with Trent, Cody, and Justin.

The song was silly, but also naïve, composed in simpler times. It was a classic heartbroken song. As they become more famous, they performed it less and less, but now it sounded like one of their best, at least for the 4 former Drama Brothers singing on stage.

The cheer from the public was the loudest from all the performances. After all, the people in the audience were cheering for one band or the other. But the one more shocked by the cheering was Justin. The male model had forgotten the feeling of standing there, hearing the fans chanting your name, and even if he didn't accept it, he missed it.

"Well dear public, that wasn't like TOTALLY awesome? Thanks to H-tonics and Black Unicorn for this small tribute to the Drama Brothers. Now we have another surprise for you after this one that will totally blow you off your seats. So stay tuned," said Lindsay smiling as she went back to the stage.

"Boys, it was fun. But sorry, Harold, I'll be cheering for Cody on this one," said Justin. He had a lot of thinking to do.

Harold rolled his eyes and adjusted his glasses. "I already knew it, gosh, don't treat me like some kind of enemy. This is only an amicable competition."

"I think you didn't want to have nothing to do with us after breaking up the Drama Brothers," replied Cody, happy to hear his friend said that they were on good terms.

"I'll not lie, at first I didn't want to talk with any of you again. But after playing on this show, I come to the realization that maybe I had a childish behavior because of my insecurities in my own mad skills, that I reflect on you. So maybe not to play together, but we must meet more often, that would be awesome," said Harold, smiling.

The green-eyed guitarist rubbed his neck. "I was also wrong. I should have tried to find a middle point to use your beatbox in my songs. Maybe I was jealous of your talent after all," Trent then offered a hand to Harold, "friends again?"

"Friends forever, my man," said Harold, squeezing Trent's hand firmly.

Cody put his hands over the handshake, "Don't let me out, ok," he grinned impishly, "but sorry, Harold, we're winning tonight."

Harold smiled, "You wish! But don't worry. I'll invite you to dine once we wipe the floor with you."

Trent also smiled, "You're so on, Mister McGrady. But we're the ones that are paying that dine."

"Do you forget about me?" asked Justin putting his hand over Cody's. "I can't believe you forget the most handsome in the band."

Some steps away on the aisle, the remaining Black Unicorn members were looking at them, smiling.

"It is so delightful seeing them being friends again," sighed Ella, watching them with a tender smile.

"Whatever, let's hurry Fairy Princess, we're next," replied Duncan, both of them walking to the stage.

War of the bands Final Special performance B: The Finalists.

"Do you like the performance?" asked Lindsay at the public, which replied with a loud YES.

"Because we have another joint performance! This time, Bella, Dorian, Harriet, Bernard, and Lucky Charm will perform another classic. They bring the immortal classic 'Beat it[3]' from Micheal Jackson. Let's hear them," shouted Lindsay as she went out of the stage.

Ella was dressed in her princess outfit, but in white, while Heather was wearing a black leather jacket. Beardo and Max were also wearing jackets, while Duncan was wearing his usual outfit, spiked jacket included.

"How can that idiotic host mix my great name, Dr. E-vil, with Lucky Charm? It's impossible," said Max frowning furiously.

"E-vil, please forget that. You're making a fool of yourself," cautioned Heather in a cold tone.

"Oh, I'm so honored to perform along with you. This will be a delightful performance, just as the rehearsals," said Ella smiling at Heather.

But the Queen bee just rolled her eyes. "Yes, yes. Just don't hinder us."

"Someone forgot their double cappuccino macchiato this morning," mocked Duncan, smirking.

Heather looked daggers at him. Beardo put a hand on her shoulder and began to mimic whale songs[4].

"You are right B-rdo, let's get started," replied Heather, understanding what her bandmate wanted to say.

Beardo then made the sound of a coin falling inside a vendor machine, a disc selected on a jukebox, and the needle playing on a phonograph.

After those sound effects, the beatboxer began to make the synth's sound, while Max helped to beatbox the percussions, and Duncan playing the guitar. The song was performed in duet, Heather singing the first line of the verses, Ella the last lines, and singing in a duet the choirs.

Heather's strong voice contrasted beautifully with Ella's tender tone, which made the duet more impressive. Duncan's solo was great, it wasn't as good as the one of Van Halen (obviously), but after so many hours of practice this week, he did a great job.

The public cheered at the end of the song. Ella made a curtsy at the audience, and Heather imitated her. It wasn't to mock Ella but because they were performing together.

"Not bad, Snowwhite. For a princess, you did a good job," said Heather smirking, and tossing her hair.

"Oh, thank you, Miss Heather. You also put a beautiful performance. It is a shame that only one of us can win the competition," replied Ella ignoring Heather's attitude.

Then instead of Lindsay, it was Topher, the one that returned to the stage.

"Now it's almost the end of this great music festival. So please, the H-tonics and Black Unicorn members, come to the stage for the last performance in this war," announced Topher making a hand sign to the bands to come with him.

War of the bands Final Battle of the Bands.

Both bands were on the twin stages at the main stage's sides, with Topher in the middle.

"For the final, both teams will be performing a battle of the bands while our staff counts your votes. This will be the last battle, once the results are confirmed, one flag will fall, and we will know who is the winner," said Topher as the public cheered.

Topher looked first at one band and then at the other. "Now, when you're ready."

"It's time to show who are the real stars! H-tonics, this is our chance to become famous, don't waste it," said Heather picking the microphone.

Harold looked tenderly at his girlfriend. "Hearther, don't worry. Even if we lose, this isn't the end."

"Yes, Heather, the votes are cast. There is nothing to win. Why not let loose and enjoy this last performance?" asked Mike with a sheepish smile.

"Are you serious? This is our chance, how can you be so, so-" Heather was frowning with anger, and Max completed her sentence.

"So thoughtless, we're performing for MY conquest of the world, so play seriously," demanded Max, pointing a finger menacingly at his bandmates.

All the members looked at the purple-haired guy and start chuckling, Heather included.

Beardo made a small smile."See? You just sounded like him." He rarely spoke in public, but his voice always had a serene vibe.

"You're right. Let's have some fun H-tonics!" said Heather in an unusual excited tone.

"That's why I love you, my goddess," replied Harold taking his microphone.

Heather blushed. "Idiot! Not in public."

Meanwhile, on the other stage, the Black unicorn was preparing to play.

"Ok, winning or losing, it has been an honor being part of this band," said Duncan taking his custom guitar.

Cody frowned, standing at the keyboard. "Man, don't say it as if this was the last time we play together."

"Yes, this is only our beginning, so let's not be negative," added Trent, smiling and taking his guitar.

"But Duncan is right. I also want to thank all of you for letting me sing with you. It is the most beautiful experience of my life," exclaimed Ella smiling tenderly.

"Let's keep having fun, as friends that love making music together," said B twirling the drumsticks on his hands, his deep voice startling everyone. As usual, he only talked when he has to.

Cody stretched his fingers, but as he looked into the audience, a giant banner attracted his attention. It read 'Cody Rocks, we are proud of you' and holding the banner at each side were his parents. He stood there, flabbergasted. They were late, and the message was corny, but it was the best cheering anyone could get for him.

Topher then gave the sign, and both teams began to play.

H-tonics started with a song they previously played on the show, 'Bohemian Rhapsody' by Queen. The song was impressive enough to show their beatbox and a capella skills. Then they performed 'this ain't a scene, it's an arms race' by Fallout boys, Heather making the main vocals. This time, Harold performed the guitar's beatbox, while Max and Mike did the drums and Beardo the bass.

Across the stage, Black Unicorn was also doing their best. They began with Maroon-5 'Sugar.' Trent played the main guitar as it was one of his favorite songs. Then they played the French version of 'Let it go.' Disney's song had such meaning to Ella that they decided to play it again if they perform a battle at the finals. Of course, her performance was one of the more emotive in the show.

But the Acapella group was not giving up. They performed Thousand Foot Krutch single 'Lifeline' Beardo performing as the main guitar and Harold supporting him with the effects. Mike made the effects of the bass, and Max the percussion. The voice of Heather showed she could sing any genre. For their fourth song, they played a mix of Daft Punk songs arranged by fellow A capella group Pentatonix. For this one, all the members sans Beardo singed, rotating the beatboxing among the members.

This was H-tonics' best performance. All the members sweating at the end, but also it's the only one in which the five were smiling, pushing themselves to the limit, not to win, but for themselves.

And the Black Unicorn also upped the ante. Cody took his bass and Trent the acoustic guitar, and they played 'Today was a fairy tale' by Taylor Swift. Even if Duncan didn't want to play this song, they did a great job. Finally, the group chose 'I Wanna Be Famous' by Graeme Cornies and Dawna Toews, a local classic among Toronto youths. The lyrics were to be used on a Drama show that never aired, but B heard it, and it became one of his favorites.

The band was in the zone. Each song they played was more amazing than the last one. Even if they were tired, they keep performing better and better. B and Duncan had to take off their jacket and coat. But the best of them was Cody, each song he performed flawlessly, he was on fire.

None of the teams noticed the flag falling from the top of the stage and hitting the ground until their speakers were turned off by the staff, and Topher's excited voice filled the room.

After 8 weeks, the war was over, and the winner decided.

[1] For this performance, I use as inspiration the live performance in Moscow's red square in 2011. Nothing special I just love Linking Park. And the song was fitting Devil's Muse.

[2] During the Total Drama Action Special, which introduced the Drama Brothers, they mention their only named song. 'When I cry,' So I decide to make it a tribute. I hope it wasn't disappointing.

[3] For this one, I use as inspiration the Life performance in Yokohama 1987. The contrasts in the song are great, and also the guitar solo is a classic. SO I thought it was fitting.

[4] The whale song A whale song is the creation of a pattern of predictable sounds that are created by large baleen whales such as the humpback whale and blue whale in which these patterns resemble the notes of a song. It's said that the song is relaxing and have healing effects in humans.

And the competition is over. Who is the winner of the War of the bands, the title of Best Juvenile band in Canada, and the 100,000 dollars prize? Find out in the next chapter of War of the Bands.

So the competition is over. I hope you enjoyed the chapter. I wanted to give Justin a last chance to perform on stage and some spotlight to the other bands before the ending. I hope you enjoyed it.

And as always, thanks for reading and I hope you like it
