SmackDown 13/9/2001
WWF SmackDown was live in Houston, Texas. The show opened up with Jim Ross on commentary. This is a special Live Edition of the World Wrestling Federation SmackDown. The fans all chanted "USA, USA" in the arena and Vince was in the ring and he said tonight, the spirit of America lives here in Houston, Texas! On behalf of everyone around the world, they would like to extend their condolences to the victims, the families and friends of the victims of the terrorist acts that occurred on Tuesday in New York City and Washington, D.C. Our Nation's leaders have encouraged us to return to living our lives the way we normally do. They have encouraged us to return to living our lives the American way. They have encouraged us to practice and exercise our constitutional rights. As such, tonight is the first public assembly of it's size since Tuesday's tragedy.
Make no mistake about what and the message this public assembly is sending to terrorism tonight. And that message, quite simply is that we will not live our lives in fear! The citizens of Houston are NOT afraid. The citizens of Texas are indeed not afraid. And by God, the citizens of the United States are not afraid. We are proud of who we are, proud of our nation and damn proud to be Americans. The fans busted out with "USA, USA" chants and Vince McMahon said we will fight. We will fight for our families, we will fight for our rights and we will fight for our great Nation. America's heart has been wounded, but her spirit shines as a beacon of freedom. A beacon of freedom that never has been nor ever will be extinguished. The World Wrestling Federation would like to thank each and every one of the fans in the Compaq Center tonight. The World Wrestling Federation would like to thank each and every one of the fans watching on Television. Thank you for the honor and privilege of performing before you here tonight.
Vince got out of the ring and the WWF SmackDown opening video kicked off the show. Jim Ross and Paul Heyman were at ringside for tonight's event and the World Wrestling Federation and Alliance Superstars made their way out into the arena. The Superstars all lined up and filled up the ramp and staging area as some of them looked to be very emotional going into tonight's show. Howard Finkel asked everyone to rise for the singing of our National Anthem. Lilian Garcia sang the National Anthem from the ring and everyone in that arena was on their feet. After Lilian finished, the fans all chanted "USA, USA!" and Jim Ross said that it's been an emotional night and week for all Americans, and they'll be back, with action.
Later
OOOOOOWHOOOOOO!
'Oh, ah, ah, ah, ah! Get up, come on get down with the sickness!'
Down with the Sickness plays to a huge pop from the crowd as the Bladewolf walks out with an American flag in hand and he makes his way down the ramp towards the ring. He gets into the ring and places the flag around his shoulders before he grabs a microphone as his theme dies down.
"It has been...a very tragic and emotional week for all Americans." He begins. "9/11 everyone's calling it. I am so sorry to all the families who lsot someone in those two towers, just know that despite what you see...all superstars back there are as emotional as everyone else is. Damn, I'm not good at the speeches. But what i will say is this...America will not cower." The fans begin cheering. "We will not be intimidated! America will not be threatened! It will not be disrespected and we will NOT live in fear! We will stand stronger than ever in the face of terror as the cowards who hide in their caves will face the Reaper in the end and pay for their crimes. America has been attacked before but she has persevered through this and so will we. They may take our lives but they will never take our freedom cause this is the land of the free and the home of the brave and the enemy overseas will BURN...IN...HELL!"
'USA! USA! USA!' The fans chanted and Bladewolf did the same as he waves the American flag around before eventually leaving, slapping a few fans' hands along the way and even took off his shirt to give to a little boy and ruffled his hair before heading to the back while holding the American flag up.
I'm sorry there's not much here, it was just Bladewolf giving a speech on the events that happened that week. I wasn't skipping it by any means, it may have been seen as disrespect to some of you readers that I would ignore such a thing.
Weird to know I was only a small child the day of 9/11.
