Chapter 51
Callie's P.O.V:
Walking through the door of the apartment, I saw that Arizona was pacing the floor, with a very fussy Noah in her arms.
"Hey babe," I greet my wife. She just gave me a small smile, then went back to trying to settle Noah down. Stepping closer to her, I place a peck on her lips. "Is he okay?"
"Yeah, he's just teething," She tells me, continuing her pacing. I could tell by the tone of her voice, she was getting a little flustered.
"Here, let me try," I say to her, trying to taking Noah from her. But she just waves me off.
"No, I got it." She says. "He's been doing this most of the day,"
"Why didn't you call me? I could've came home to help you with him. Has his fever broken?"
"I didn't want to bother you," She tells me.
"You wouldn't have been bothering me. Besides, Doug would've understood," I tell her making my way to the kitchen, But the bouquet of flowers on the table stop me. Looking back at Arizona, I noticed a smirk began to form on her face.
"What's this?" I ask her.
"Open the card," She tells me. Grabbing the card off the flowers, when I opened it, I read:
-Before I say I'm sorry (Again), I just want you to know that when we first met, I never imagined you'd mean this much to me, like you'd become the only person I really love and care about, well besides Noah of course. I'm really sorry for thinking you were cheating on me, I hope you forgive me."
Turning my attention back to my wife, I couldn't help but smile, which I got in return. Walking back to her, I wrapped my arms around her waist and pulled her close to me.
"I'm really sorry, Calliope. For everything," she whispers to me.
"Babe, it's okay, really. I get it," I placed a light kiss on her forehead, "You don't have to keep apologizing. It's done and over with."
After Arizona finally got Noah to settle down, she put him in his high chair, while I went and grabbed plates out of the cabinet.
"How did everything go today?" She asks, taking a seat next to Noah.
"Well, we actually have a few new artists. I'm talking, experts." I tell her, "They have been in the industry for quite some time.
"Oh, who were they," She asks, turning her attention quickly back to Noah, trying to avoid eye contact. "Could you grab me one of his spoons from the drawer please?"
"Yeah," I say, walking back into the kitchen. I grabbed one of Noah's spoons from the drawer and made my way back to the table. "Why don't you tell me? You're in charge of the booking," I tell her, handing her the spoon.
"I don't know what you're talking about," She says playfully. The smile she has on her face when she looked at me, told me she already knew.
"Uh huh, so you never booked Tim McGraw? My all time favorite male country singer?"
"Maybe I did. Maybe I didn't," she says smiling at me, before turning back to feed Noah.
"Right, but anyway, I got an email from George, our realtor."
"Ohh..Did he send you more listings?"
"He did. He has a house that he would like us to look at tonight, if possible. We can do it after dinner, if you want to. He said it has everything we've actually been looking for."
"Oh, nice. where at?" she asks.
"I'm not sure," I lie. I knew where the house was at, but I just didn't want to tell her. I wanted it to be a surprise, even though she hates surprises.
"Oh, okay, well yeah, I wouldn't mind looking at it tonight after were done."
After dinner was done, I cleaned up the kitchen while Arizona went and cleaned up Noah. After we got finished, we headed over to look at the house. Pulling into the drive, I looked over at Arizona, who had a confusing look on her face.
"Why are we in Tim and Teddy's drive way? You know they go out on Thursday nights."
"Yeah, I know, but this isn't the house." I pointed to the house next door. Her eyes followed the direction I was pointing in. "Wait, this house is up for sale?"
"Yeah, just became available yesterday," I tell her, as we were getting out of the car. I grabbed Noah from his seat and placed him on my hip. As we were walking up to the door of the house, we were met by Alex.
"Good Evening ladies,"
"Hey George," I greeted him, "This is my wife, Arizona."
"Hey Arizona, nice to meet you, I'm George O'Malley,"
"Nice to meet you too, George." she says, shaking his hand.
"Okay So, before we begin, I would like to mention that this one is a little more than the original budget we had talked about." He tells us.
"What do you mean?" Arizona asks, "How much more?" George looks at me, then back at Arizona. "George, how much more?"
"Well..it's almost double the budget." He says, nervously.
"What? No. Callie, no. Come on." She says, pulling me off to the side. "Let's be serious about this. I never finished college, I don't make near as much as you do, and as you can see, my family isn't rich."
"Arizona, look, I know it's more than what we originally discussed, but seeing that it's next door to Tim and Teddy, just think for a minute, we won't have to ten to fifteen minutes, depending on traffic just to drop Noah off, plus it's closer to the studio. I'm also well aware you aren't rich, but none of the other houses we looked at doesn't come close to what we want. This one does." pointing towards the house. "It's got everything we were looking for. Can we at least look? Besides, my dad said that once we found the right one, he would try to talk the owners down a little bit."
"I don't know, Callie. I don't feel right about all this, If I had an education where I could get a job and actually make as much as you, it would be different."
"Different how?" I ask her.
"I would be able help contribute my share. I mean, my parents left money for me, but I can't touch it until I'm 21."
"Babe, you are contributing. and To be honest, you're making more than you think you are," I say with a smirk.
"What do you mean? I'm only working in your office."
"Yeah, but you're helping out by bringing in the artists for us. You're doing the booking. You get compensated for that. So you are making just as much." I say with a smile. "Now, can we look at this house please?"
"Fine, but once we do, we are going to talk about this, understand?"
"I'm perfectly fine with that, as long as the talk doesn't involve us wearing clothes" I say jokingly, dropping a kiss to her nose.
"You're impossible," She says with a smirk.
"Okay. George, show us around." Stepping into the house, I could already tell I'm going to have to convince Arizona that this was our house. As soon as you walk through the door, there's a huge living room that goes right into the open kitchen off to the left, along with a laundry room. The stairs off to our right lead us to the second story balcony hallway.
"As you can see, there's plenty of open space." George says. I keep a close eye on Arizona. Her eyes went wide as we did a walk through of the kitchen.
"I love this kitchen," She whispers to me. I just gave her a smile and a small nod as we continued to follow George through the house.
"Back through the kitchen is a nice size dining area, and on the first floor, there are two offices, a bedroom and a quarter bathroom."
Moving through the rest of the house, the basement is pretty open. It has surround sound with plenty of storage and a full bath. What caught my attention the most was the back yard. There's plenty of green space for Noah to run around when he got older, there's also a patio and a deck like sitting area, not to mention an in-ground pool.
"Well?" I asked Arizona, as we made our way back into the foyer. I could tell she was still a little unsure about this whole thing.
"I don't know, Callie. I mean, I love the house, but.."
"But what?," I ask.
"I can't let you buy our house for us," She says disappointedly.
"Why not? My dad says he can talk the owners down a bit on the price, plus I could always dip into my savings and part of my trust fund." I tell her.
"I don't know, Callie." she says, looking down at the floor.
"I tell you what, let's just put in an offer, let my dad know, he can try to work his magic, and we'll go from there."
"Okay, fine," she says, letting out a sigh.
"Okay, why don't you take Noah to the car, while I talk to George." I tell her, handing her the keys. She takes them and grabs Noah from my hands, then makes her way out to the car. When I know she was out of ear shot, I turned my attention to George. "Okay, let's talk!"
*I know, I know, kind of boring. I'm sorry. I had a hard time with this chapter again. I'll try to make Next chapter better. Let me know what you think*
