Part 51
Thawne sat in his office not pleased that Barbara Gordon had interfered with the cameras he had planted years ago. But when her tech had fried Devoe's bugs it had fried his cameras too. What no one knew was he had been the one to tell Jack Napier who Batgirl really was. Unfortunately the troublesome girl some how lived. He should have taken care of the brat himself. He didn't look up when the door opened and she walked in.
"When are you going to destroy that bitch's life like she did mine?" asked Iris
"These things take time."
"I want that bitch to see her life fall apart right before she dies. She turned everyone against me. Even my dad and brother."
"Iris, we will both get what we want when I finish with my plan."
"I better get Barry when this is all done."
"Trust me you will get exactly what you deserve."
"Good."
Iris walked out of the office and Thawne smiled knowing that it would not be long before he would finally destroy the Flash. What he still hadn't figured out is why Caitlin Snow never fulfilled her destiny to become Killer Frost. She was suppose to become Killer Frost and end up on the Suicide Squad. But something changed the timeline and stopped her from giving into the darkness that he made sure was inside of her. He had helped Thomas Snow create his "cure" for ALS. So he could not figure out what went wrong with Caitlin. It had worked the way it was suppose to on Thomas. He was not going to worry too much about it right now. Right now he was going to work on his plan to destroy Barry Allen for good.
Caitlin and Barry walked into her apartment. Barbara and Tim had returned to Gotham that morning. While the three from Earth-38 had returned home the same day they had come. Carla was going to have to leave the next day so the new couple was going to go to dinner with her tonight.
"So Cait why don't you rest a bit before we have to get ready to meet your mom for dinner?"
"Will you stay with me? I mean I will lay down but will you sit with me and talk to me?"
"Yeah of course."
Caitlin led Barry into her bedroom where they both kicked off their shoes. Both climbed onto the bed. Barry pulled Caitlin close to him and she snuggled close as she could. Barry ran his fingers gently over her arm.
"So were you ever going to tell me that you were a billionaire?" asked Caitlin
"Of course I was. Cait, you know that I don't care about the money."
"I know. I don't either. I knew Thawne left you everything. I mean you told me that. I just never knew it was that much."
"I am sure Barbara knows."
"I am sure she does. Did I ever tell you about the time she saved me from some guy that was most likely going to rape me my first year of college?"
"No. Really she did?"
"Yeah. I left the library late from studying. I was nearly back at my dorm when he came out of the shadows. He tried to make me go with him. But Batgirl shows up and I run back to the dorm. How no one that knows her ever figured out she was Batgirl I have no idea. I mean her red hair hangs out of the back of her cowl."
"Her hair is rather bright."
"Yeah it is. Barry, do you see us getting married some day? I mean not right now of course. I mean we may have known each other for several years. But we just started dating."
"Cait, we just bought a house together."
"You bought the house Barry."
"But you are the one will move into the master bedroom. Because while I am fine right now just to have you curled up in my arms. I don't know how long I will be able to go without making love to you."
"Yeah I understand that. I am not there yet. I was dating Ronnie seven months before I slept with him. He was the first guy I was ever with. He was so sweet and gentle with me. Savitar was anything but that. Barry, I know that you won't be like that. Savitar may have had half your face. But I never saw you. I saw a monster you could be come if you gave up on love and hope and everything good in you. I will never understand why I never became the cold dark version of myself that everything in my father's research said I should have. When I was working undercover the hardest thing I had to do was lie to you and Cisco about not loving you. Cisco is my brother in every way but blood. You have always been something more."
"Don't worry about sweetie. I am sure that between you and your mom you will figure it out. Heck you know Harry and Jesse might be willing to help."
"Yeah. Make sure you wake me an hour before we need to leave. Not all of us have super speed to get ready."
"Of course."
Caitlin snuggled closer closing her eyes and fell to sleep. Barry set the alarm on his phone then kissed the top of Caitlin's head.
Caitlin sat on the beach watching the wave lick the shore. She could see streaks of multi colored lightning in the sky and knew that it was not an ordinary dream. She looked over and saw that an image of Henry Allen was now sitting next to her.
"Hello Caitlin."
"You're the speed force. Um what do I call you?"
"You can address me as Henry if you want."
"Ok so Henry why am I here?"
"I have the answer to the question that has been bothering you. The reason that you didn't fall into the darkness is when Barry challenged you to kill him when you first lost control and couldn't you defeated the darkness inside you."
"I am not sure that I understand."
"Just as you ground Barry, he keeps you in the light. The bond that the two of you share goes both ways. It started the night of the particle accelerator explosion. The reason that both Thawne and Zoom both became so evil is that they didn't have a lightning rod to ground them."
"How did this bond between Barry and me start? I didn't even know him."
"Caitlin do you remember when you were eight and took a vacation to this beach?"
"Yeah it was the last vacation before my dad got really sick."
"There was a little boy that helped you when an older child shoved you into the water. He ran over to you and pulled you out."
"I remember my dad came and got me before the boy could give me his name. That was Barry wasn't it?"
"Yes we knew what each of your destiny was. We chose to bond you at that moment to change yours from the path of a villain to that of a hero. Caitlin, at that point your father had already begun to work on his cure. He hadn't made it yet. But he had started on it."
"You knew that Barry was going to become the Flash. So you used that moment to bond us together."
"Yes. It is time for you to go."
Caitlin woke to an alarm going off in Barry's warm arms.
Hoping that everyone in the USA reading this has a Happy and safe Thanksgiving. I will be back after the holiday with the next chapter.
