Set Me Free

Sabine was struggling as they went down the hallway. Ezra was heavier than she initially though, so she had to keep two hands to keep him from falling. The two made their way to the main levels only to find a bunch of troops between them and the door.

Ezra held up his hand. "Please, do not try and stop us, and she won't kill you." Ezra pleaded.

The troops took a minute and began to lower their weapons. They all knew who Ezra Bridger and Sabine Wren were. More importantly, they knew they stood no chance against the duo.

"Thank you, my friends." Ezra smiled as they walked through the hallway uncontested.

"How did you know that would work?" Sabine asked him as they turned a corner.

"Oh, that one is all your doing, dear. You are the infamous 'Sabine Wren', are you not?" He chuckled. "Alright, I think I can walk now."

"Okay, but don't overdo it, we still need to get you out of here."

After another few hallways, and a few more squads of young troopers, the duo made it out of the large building. Luke was waiting nearby with a speeder and a cloak over his head as to obscure his identity. Luke could see that Ezra was hobbling beside Sabine and was having issues keeping up.

"Come on guys, we have to go!" Luke yelled over the speeder engine.

"He is weak, help me get him in." Sabine answered his call.

"I can do it, go, go, go!" Ezra shouted as he jumped up and clumsily landed in the speeder on his back. Sabine sat down next to him and looked in his eyes. She threw herself at him and sobbed in his shoulder.

"W-Why did you leave us? Why would you agree to got through all of that." She said through her cries.

"Because I didn't want to give them the chance to take you along with me. No offense Luke."

"None taken, my friend. I didn't want to take her or your children at all." Luke smiled as he guided the speeder back to the apartment to get Mara Jade.

"I also thought that if I could get Luke to see what the New Republic wanted the Jedi to become, then he would leave and form an order separate of the Republic." Ezra sighed as he leaned back on the bench seat. Sabine moved as close as she could to him and wrapped her arms around his form.

"I am not letting you go again. You have a death wish I swear."

"No need to worry, my love. I will not be leaving again." Ezra held her as the speeder moved through sky at breakneck speeds.

Mara stood as she heard the speeder come to a stop on the living room landing pad. She wobbled out to the door to see Luke helping Ezra out of the speeder and to the Mandalorian fighter. Mara worked her way over to them. "My goodness, is he gonna be alright?"

"Yea, he'll be fine. After I take him home and beat him senseless for leaving me again." Sabine smiled.

"Well you two are welcome at he Yavin temple anytime."

"Thanks, Mara. We will come visit at some point, maybe when the children are older." Sabine hugged the other woman and said their goodbyes. Sabine walked over to her small ship to find Luke coming down the ramp.

"He is inside. He passed out so I had to get him strapped into the seat." Luke grinned.

"He's been through a lot the past few days, and I have an idea of how to make him stay with me forever."

"Are you ready for another child? You already have three of your own." Luke chuckled at her face.

"How did you-?"

"The force lets me see other's thoughts. It doesn't take much to sense yours."

"I shoulda known, especially since that's how Ezra keeps surprising me. Can you speak in my head too?"

"He can speak to you telepathically? That is incredible Sabine. You two must have formed a very strong bond in order to do that. Usually only Jedi can do that with other Jedi." Luke placed his hand on his chin and thought a moment.

"He said its because he loves me more than anything." Sabine had a slightly dreamy look in her eyes.

"Well that helps, yes. I think it may just be a gift from the Force to the two of you."

Sabine let out a lovestruck sigh. Everyday she was learning how much Ezra truly loved her. She was brought back to reality, remembering the short blonde man in front of her. "Thank you, Luke. I know you didn't have to stick your neck out for us but thank you."

"I felt I had to right my wrong. I arrested Ezra it was only right I help set him free. I guess, in a sense, you guys set me free as well."

"All we did was show you that Mon Mothma was not the woman she portrayed herself to be. It is a shame too. She seemed nice during the Rebellion." Sabine looked back to the short time she spent on Yavin.

"Yea, I wonder when it all changed."

"Power can corrupt anyone who is afraid to lose it. I've seen it happen countless times."

"The emperor was a Sith, but I know Mothma is just a woman. I need to speak with Leia on the matter."

"Alright, take care of Mara. May the Force be with you." Sabine shook his hand.

"And also with you."

Sabine walked up the ramp of the small ship to find Ezra asleep in the co-pilot seat. She took the controls and flew off. The fighter was thrown into hyperspace, leaving Chandrila behind. She thought back to the time she was on Yavin. Returning from Mandalore was a tuff decision, but she knew that is where she was needed most. However, as she looked back at those events, the train of thought brought her to the dome on Lothal. Sabine hated that place more than anything. It's where she lost Kanan. It's where she lost Ezra for 5 years.

"Hey." Ezra slowly woke up, sensing her feelings towards her own memories.

"Hey, bout time you woke up." She sighed and stood up. "Now, come to bed."

"Alright, dear." Ezra stood and followed her to the main quarters. He walked in the door and laid down on the bed. Sabine laid down in his arms and stayed quiet. Neither said a word, just enjoying the moment they were sharing together.

Ezra woke up an hour later to see Sabine shaking and squirming around under him. All he could sense from her was pain. "Sabine? Sabine!" No response. "Sabine, wake up!"

"No, you can't be gone. He can't be gone." Sabine said, still asleep.

Ezra decided to try and help her another way. Using their deep force connection, he entered her mind. Even though he swore he never would do so, right now seemed important.

Ok, this is where I'm gonna leave you. I know, I know, cliffhanger again. It happens. I just needed a way to end the chapter and set myself up for another. I am running really far behind guys. I'm gonna grind tonight and see if I can get about 5 chapters done. As for the reasons I am behind, lets just say depression. That pretty much covers it all. Ight peace!
