Chapter 50: Plans And Pre-Match

23/8/1994

~~~~~~~~~
Tom had big plans for this year. Potter still thought that he was an embodied spirit who was weak and he wanted to change - that so he devised a perfectly executed plan that would not fail.
Firstly, the Death eaters would make themselves known publicly at the world cup. Next, as the Triwizard Tournament was coming to Hogwarts this year, they would put Potters name in the cup. They would then get him through all the tasks until he reached the cup.
Now, the cup would be a portkey and, Potter being the only one there, would grab it and get transported to the graveyard of Riddle Manor; where Voldemort would pretend to gain a body and so on.
They had planned a lot for this already, the early hours of this morning he had sent a vision to Potter of him killing the 'muggle caretaker' of the 'abandoned' manor, with Peter Pettigrew (who had sadly returned) by his side.
According to Fred and George, who had owled Cass when everyone awoke, the boy looked pretty shook up - meaning the vision had worked.
They just had to manage the rest of the plan and luckily for them, the World Cup was right around the corner.
Is was the night before the Cup and a meeting had been called. Remus received the mark to start everything off and was initiated into the inner circle. Cassandra then addressed everyone with a gesture from her father.
"Now as you know tomorrow is the Quidditch world cup. Afterwards, during the celebration we will have some fun. Do anything you want, within reason. The only request is that I cast the mark at the end. If any of you cast it I will kill you... Alright, dismissed, see you tomorrow!"
Cassandra was up extremely early that morning. To keep herself occupied she packed her bag for the day ahead. She placed her Death Eater robes and mask in the bag along with some money for souvenirs. She then planned her outfit, in honour of the Bulgarian team, and then went to the house's main library.
She opened the huge oak doors and took a calming breath.
"Hello Cassandra, what are you doing up so early?"
Cassandra jumped, startled, before glancing where the voice had come from. Remus Lupin was curled up on the chair in the corner of the room, a book on his lap.
"Hey Rem, I couldn't sleep for any longer I'm just so excited for today!! How are you feeling about everything?"
"Well I'm a bit nervous, I'm not exactly used to this you know, but I'm kinda just happy to be able to let my freak flag fly, and not be controlled by Dumbledore anymore."
She smiled and walked over to sit on his lap, giving him a hug. Since they had left school they had spent a lot of time together, considering they were both almost always in the library. Cassandra was beginning to see him as family and Remus was starting to see her as part of his pack.
Neither of them knew the other felt like that so they just sort of vibed silently with each other. Lately though they had been hugging quite often.
"Just be careful though Rem, it is your first time!"
"I will, don't worry!"
Soon everyone was up and having a lovely breakfast at the table. Cassandra quickly finished her meal, saying thank you to the house elves as they took away her plate.
"You look lovely sweetheart, Bulgaria should be honoured to have my beautiful little girl supporting them!" Tom stated proudly.
Bellatrix nodded her head in agreement.
Cassandra just blushed. She was wearing a dark red knee length dress that hugged the curves that had gotten more defined over the past months. She wore black tights underneath along with red flats that matched the dress in colour. Her hair had gotten more curly and wild since school ended so Emerald had pinned it behind her ears for her with a black clip.
Everyone made their way to the fireplace, hugging Cass goodbye. "Now have a good time sweetheart and have fun!"
She grinned before grabbing some floo powder, stepping into the fireplace and yelling, "Malfoy Manor!"
She stepped out gracefully and took in the very strange sight in front of her.
Draco was hidden behind the couch, looking half scared but also laughing his head off. The living room was a mess, the other couch was tipped up there was feathers everywhere and there was some glass smashed on the floor.
And, slap bang in the middle, was Lucius and Narcissa duelling. Cass's aunt waved her wand and suddenly Lucius was hung upside down.
"Cissaaa," he whined, "we have to bring themm! They're family!!"
Narcissa looked at her husband sternly, "the peacocks do not need to come with us! There is literally no point - now stop acting like a child!"
Lucius looked like he had relented so Narcissa slowly lowered him down. However once back upright and on the ground he shot a tickling hex at her making his wife double over laughing.
"S-stop... Lucius A-abraxas Malf-foy!" She laughed out.
Cassandra let out a small giggle, which turned into a chuckle; which then turned into her clutching her side. "What the bloody hell are you guys doing?!"
Lucius and Narcissa whipped their heads up and blushed, looking awkwardly at their niece. "Ummm..."
"Father wants to bring the peacocks to the match to tie outside the tent but mother doesn't want him too and thinks it's a bad idea." Stated Draco crawling out of his hiding place.
"Aunt Cissa just let him do it, the portkey is going to leave soon and if you keep arguing and duelling we are going to miss it!"
"Thank you Cass!!" Stated Lucius before rushing out the room whilst Cassandra and Narcissa put the room back to normal. A few seconds later he returned with several of their purebred peacocks.
Cass's aunt just sighed and then pulled out a china teapot. They all grabbed onto it just in time and suddenly they weren't in the Malfoy living room anymore.
They had arrived on what appeared to be a deserted stretch of misty moor. In front of them was a pair of tired and grumpy-looking wizards. They both looked to be dressed very strangely. One of the men wore a tweed suit with thigh-length galoshes and his colleague wore a kilt and a poncho.
"I understand muggles dress differently to us but I don't understand why people think they wear mismatching clothes." Whispered Cass to Draco as Lucius said hello to the men and passed them the portkey.
"Hello Lucius," said the one he had called Basil wearily. "You um might want to put a notice-me-not charm on the animals whilst you go through the gate. Your campsite is bout a quarter of a mile's walk over there, first field you come to. Site manager's called Mr. Roberts."
Lucius nodded respectfully and led the way. After about twenty minutes, a small stone cottage next to a gate swam into view. Beyond it was hundreds and hundreds of tents.
A man was standing in the doorway, looking out at the tents. The group all sneered before the muggle looked up at the sound of their footsteps.
"Good morning sir" said Lucius formally.
"Hello!" Stated the man giving them a funny look.
"Would you be Mr. Roberts?"
"Aye, I would," said Mr. Roberts. "And who're you?"
"I am Lucius Malfoy, I booked the space for nine tents a few days ago. Ours is quite big you see, we can't have the children being cramped can we?"
"Aye, of course Mr Malfoy sir," said Mr. Roberts, realising this was one of the highest paying customers. "You've got a space about halfway up the field. Just the one night?"
Narcissa nodded.
"You'll be paying now, then?" said Mr. Roberts.
"Yes, certainly!" Said Lucius. He had already got the money sorted so he didn't have to faff and make it look like he didn't know what he was doing.
"You ever been camping before?" said Mr. Roberts suddenly.
"Yes of course we have, why?"
The muggle glanced at Draco and Lucius's polished suits and Narcissa and Cassandra's formal dresses. "No reason."
He didn't keep them any longer. "A map of the campsite for you!"
"Thanks, keep the change."
The muggle grinned looking down at the 200 in his hand. Once out of earshot they all scoffed and rolled their eyes, but luckily tonight they would get to show the man what they actually thought of him.
They reached the massive space reserved under their name and with a flick of his wand Lucius put up the tent. It was a royal purple, made of silk, and looked like a miniature palace. Lucius removed the charm from the peacocks and tethered them up gently, cooing at them and hand feeding them whilst Narcissa shook her head fondly at the man she married.
Hours went by, they chatted in the tent, went out exploring and Lucius even placed a few bets (secretly of course). It was soon dusk and the air was full of anticipation. Salesmen were Apparating every few feet, carrying trays and pushing carts full of extraordinary merchandise.
Cassandra bought a Bulgarian scarf, a silk version though that went with her outfit. Draco and Lucius switched their ties to a deep red to match the girls dresses.
Draco bought a tiny model of Firebolt that really flew and they all purchased a pair of omnioculars so they could replay action, slow everything down and bring up a play-by-play if needed.
As they made their way to the stadium Cassandra caught something that made her pale considerably. Cedric was stood laughing with the twins around their families. She had had no idea that any of them would be here and just hoped that they got out safe tonight.
Before she could overthink too much the boys noticed her and waved, coming over to them - the other Weasleys, Potter and Granger following.
Cedric pulled her into a huge hug, lifting her up. "Hey Cassie! How are you? I didn't expect to see you here! You look amazing by the way!"
"Hey Ced don't hog her we want a hug too!" Said George pulling her in between him and his twin.
Mr Weasley looked appalled at the fact his son's were hugging a Slytherin who was with the Malfoy's. Lucius had narrowed his eyes at Cedric though.
He coughed, "Cassandra sweetheart would you like to introduce us to your friends?"
Cass paled slightly. "Of course Uncle Lucius, this is Cedric Diggory and Fred and George Weasley." She had to add the twins on even though he had already met them, else it would look suspicious.
Cedric smiled at the glaring man, "it's nice to meet you sir, and you ma'am"
Before Lucius could snap Narcissa interrupted, "call me Narcissa and call him Lucius, it's always nice to meet Cass's friends. If you don't mind me asking what house are you in?"
"Hufflepuff ma'am- I mean Narcissa. I've been friends with Cass since second year."
Lucius raised his eyebrow and glanced at Cassandra questioningly, "oh have you now?!"
The girl blushed and buried her head into Freds chest. Cedric nodded, "well me and father best get going, we have to find our seats on our own as these lot are up with the Minister."
Draco sneered, "well that's a surprise, how'd they aff-"
"Why don't you join us as Cass's guest? I'm sure the Minister won't mind and it would be lovely for all you friends to watch the match together!" Narcissa stated whilst covering her son's mouth.
She knew Cassandra liked this boy and that he liked her and she didn't want her son and husband ruining her nieces chance at happiness.
Cass looked excitedly up at Cedric. "Will you? It would be so fun!"
He looked into her eyes and sighed, "only for you darling!"
Fred and George grinned too, linking arms with both of them, "come on love, we've got a match to watch!"
They then led the way to their seats, leaving several annoyed Weasley's and Malfoy's in their wake, as well as a Potter and a Granger.
