In the last place he looked – their hotel room in LA – Drakken finally found Shego, sitting on the king sized bed with her knees drawn up to her chest. "Where have you been? I couldn't find you anywhere."
Shego barely glanced at him. "Sorry. I just …"
Drakken frowned. "Are you ok?" A shrug. Drakken sat at the edge of the bed and reached for her hand. "What's wrong?"
She pulled her hand out of his grasp. "You're not right for me," she whispered.
The realization of what exactly she had said washed over Drakken slowly, chilling his blood. "I – Are you breaking up with me?"
"No. Yes. I don't know."
Tears welled up in Drakken's eyes, but he held them back. "Wh-Why?"
Shego turned so that her face was completely hidden. "You're down there giving speeches and being brilliant with the other scientists and I – I didn't even know what a 'pheno-generator disruptor' was."
He opened her mouth to explain just what his latest project was before he quickly realized that wasn't the point. "Shego … Are you saying you're not … good enough for me?" She didn't answer. So after a beat, Drakken … just started laughing.
At last, Shego turned to glare at him. "What's so funny?"
"Oh, no, wow!" Drakken wiped tears from his eyes, but they were tears of mirth now. "I just never thought, in a million years!"
"Spit it out doc."
"You're perfect," Drakken blurted. "You're funny and sexy and I don't know why you think otherwise, but you are smart."
"Yeah but not –"
"I wouldn't want to be with anyone that I didn't think could match my intellect." Shego rolled her eyes, but Drakken pressed on. "You're one of the smartest people I know."
Shego scoffed. "You're down there rubbing shoulders with some of the most brilliant minds in the world."
"Half of them don't even know how to string together a coherent sentence," Drakken said. "I love the way your mind works."
A small half-smile found its way to Shego's lips. "Doc –"
"Forget them. Can we order room service and watch a bad movie instead?"
The smile widened, and Shego turned her grin toward Drakken. "Yeah," she said. "Ok."
