Jupiter Jones was vibrating on the spot, the only thing keeping her semi-contained was the fact that her seat belt was tight across her torso and it was pinning her down.
Grey's human face was smiling, their eyes, nearly the right shade as their real eyes were glittering. But it was the soft hum that they did, that was what told Jupiter that they were content. As Venus Greyson, Grey would be Jupiter's 'au pair' which basically was a fancy word for a live-in nanny that would help her with her physical therapy and some basic learning stuff. As long as they wanted it, Grey would be with Jupiter. That was Jupiter's first promise to them, and she would keep it for all her life.
Her grandfather's face was tentatively pleased, leaning back in his seat. Jupiter still had mixed feelings about her grandfather, an old wariness of what little she knew had occurred between him and her parents. Not to mention the fact that he had wanted to take her from her mother, which made her feel a little scared of him. I can admit that much. But she also saw the fact that he is trying. And for that, she will try just the same.
And her mother, her mother who is holding her hand. Warm and steadying, as she always is.
"Is it very far?" she asks, still nearly jumping on her seat. She was more or less safe, she was healed, and it was now time to leave the city once and far all.
"A couple hours out of the city, poppet," is her grandfather's response.
"It is lovely, Jupiter," her mother assured, hand squeezing her hand, "I saw it myself. You will have your own room, and the greenhouse is already full of your plants. I've kept them safe."
Warmness spread in Jupiter's heart. It was hard to describe, hard to exactly measure how much it differed from how Seraphi had lived her life. Life had denied her family, taken away any semblance of affection when she was a child, and she had been molded by her life quickly to become the head of the Abrasax House. And the coldness of her Entitled life had made her too broken to make her own family with her children.
But that's not me. I have my family. I have my Mama, I have my grandfather and my cousins and aunt, and I have Grey. I will not be the same.
"Thank you, Mama."
Thank you for all that you do.
