Ch 42

The day Kerrie and Embry arrived in Washington Jake and Ness picked them up at the airport.

"I'm so happy you're here. Everyone is so excited to have you two back!" Ness said jumping up and down. Kerrie started laughing at her excitement.

"We're glad to be back." Embry said as Jake patted his back.

When they arrived at the house everyone was gathered. Katie, Rory, and Seth were on the porch. Kerrie took Rory from her sister cooing over her nephew. When they stepped inside Sue took Rory.

"Oh my gosh." Kerrie said seeing the house fully decorated.

"Katie told us how much you love Christmas, almost as much as Halloween." Leah said as Kerrie hugged her and then Katie. Tiffany hugged them next.

"Welcome home!" She said with a smile.

"I've missed you, mom." Embry said as she stepped back.

"I'm so glad you're both home. I did some food shopping and stocked the shelves. Kerrie, all your packages are in the guest room. I didn't want to overstep and wrap them. If you need help just let me know."

"Thank you so much."

After having some food everyone let the pair get settled. Embry smiled watching Kerrie start to unpack her things. He had asked Sam and Emily to pick up another dresser for their bedroom.

"Sam built it." Embry said watching Kerrie's face.

"You think of everything."

"Not everything. I need to do a bit of Christmas shopping for mom and I need to pick up something for Sam and Jake. Want to come along?"

"Sure, I need to pick up wrapping paper. I've gotten loads of things delivered."

The pair went to Port Angeles and after a few hours they stopped for dinner. While walking back to the car Embry let out a growl as Alice and Jasper appeared.

"Hi Kerrie."

"Hi Alice, Jasper." Kerrie said as Embry stepped closer to her side.

"We'd never hurt her." Alice said as Embry glared at them.

"What do you want?"

"I need to talk to Kerrie about what we saw. Has it changed?"

Kerrie shook her head.

"I haven't see it again."

Alice paused to think before speaking.

"My vision changed, we will talk to Jacob about it. If you see anything let us know."

"Ok, come on." Embry said leading Kerrie away.

"She is so weird." Embry said as Kerrie sighed.

"Maybe it won't happen."

"I hope so."

The days past by in a blur and soon enough it was Christmas Eve. Embry was sitting with his mother on her couch.

"Embry, it's beautiful. When are you going to ask her?"

"I was thinking tomorrow but I want it to be just us."

"Take your time, you'll know when the time is right."

Christmas Eve night Embry lay away next to a sleeping Kerrie who was curled against him. She had been asleep for hours but he couldn't sleep. Christmas passed in a blur. The day was busy with family and Embry was still working out how he wanted to ask Kerrie to marry him. Kerrie has offered to host dinner with Tiffany, Sue, Seth, Katie, Rory, Leah, and Tim.

The days after Christmas were busy as well as they continued to get settled in the house and Kerrie had interviews for teaching positions. New Years came and went and still Embry was at a loss on how he wanted to propose. Teaching positions were hard to come by and Kerrie had been substituting at the high school for a teacher on medical leave but the teacher was due to return in March.

"You should go to Disneyland." Katie suggested a few days before Valentine's Day.

Embry had resorted to calling Leah and Kayte over one day during his lunch break to get their ideas.

"That is the best idea I've heard." Leah said as Katie pulled out her phone.

"Let's take a look." Katie went to work playing around with dates and helped plan a trip in early April. Katie helped by printing out a map of the park and then a list of possible places to propose.

"Just ask her in front of the castle or something." Leah suggested a few weeks later as Embry went back and forth with the pack about closing a restaurant. Embry's face lit up.

"That will be perfect. Katie is already planning an engagement party for when we get back." Embry put together the final details. Ness and Jacob had heard of the plans and she had talked him into tagging along for the sake of pictures and possibly a video. They would be taking separate flight and not arriving at the park till shortly before the proposal at dusk in front of the castle. Embry didn't spring the plans on Kerrie still the night before the flight and she ran around the house frantically trying to pack.

"Katie did it for you." Embry said with a chuckle pointing to a suitcase in the corner of their room. "I figured it would be nice to get away for a few days before you started up the job search again."

Kerrie smiled.

"This is great. Have you ever been?"

Embry shook his head as Kerrie started rambling off facts and how the park was different then Disney World but special because Walt got to plan everything. Embry took in it all as Kerrie continued to chat through dinner.

The next morning they drove to the airport and boarded their flight at 10am. After getting a cab to the hotel they checked in.

"This is amazing." Kerrie said looking around the inside of the Grand Californian Hotel. Embry grinned watching her take pictures on her phone than camera before they went to their room.

"How about a shower before going?" Kerrie asked kicking off her shoes.

"What about a bath?" Embry asked pushing open the bathroom door.

Kerrie tossed her clothes in a pile after she turned the tub on.
