Chapter 52: There's No Wrath Like A Brother's Scorn
"HOW THE HELL DID THEY TAKE THEM," Jaime yelled. "WE WERE ALL RIGHT HERE."
"Jaime , calm down," Ma'gann tries.
"How the hell can I calm down when that psychotic agency are probably torturing my boyfriend AGAIN," Jaime screamed.
"Jaime, if you want to find them, then freaking out like a chicken with your head cut off won't help," Alya says, crossing her arms.
"Guys, I think Nightwing's broken," Melinda called.
She was waving her hand in front of the Gotham and Bloodhaven hero's face, getting no response in one way or the other. At one point, she just gave up the waving and slapped him across the face. But once again, she got nothing.
"Oh for the absolute love of," she swore. "Tempestus."
(Before any of you say anything; yes, these spells are from Ben 10. I do not own any of them. But for any of you that have seen the show and recognized these spells, props for knowing good television.)
Water came up, from the floor. She bended it to her will and sent it right at Nightwing. When he crashed onto the floor, the water had finally managed to wake him up. He spit the water out, Melinda looking rather proud of herself. That was until the angry brother was in her face and looked ready to kill.
"Melinda, please tell me you have tracking spells in your arsenal," he basically pleaded. "I have a few people that need to be skinned alive."
The look in his eyes scared them all.
"Nightwing," Lena tries.
"Don't even, Lena," he growled. "Screw morality, I will make whoever took my brothers wish that they were never born. And even then, what i'm gonna do will be a mercy."
"Please tell me i'm not the only one scared," Gar shivered, most of the others raising their hands.
"We need to get back to Mount Justice," Kaldur said. "We can use the tracking system installed in their ear coms. If not, we know where one of their facilities are."
"And if neither of those work," Alain asked, still panicking a little.
"NOBODY ANSWER THAT," Roy yelled the order.
*****Time Skip Back To The Cave*****
"Tell us what happened," Batman glared at the team and mystics. "Where are Phantom and Gold Siren?"
"And where are Artemis and Wally," Green Arrow added.
When the teen heroes got back, they called in a "Code Red" with the league. Batman, Black Canary, Green Arrow, Red Tornado, Flash, and Martian Manhunter all arrived soon after they sent the alert. They were instantly worried by the looks on their faces.
"Artemis and Kid Flash betrayed us and the Guys In White have the twins," Lena burst out, then immediately covering her mouth.
"WHAT," the adults yelled.
"What do you mean that Artemis and Wally betrayed the team," Flash freaked. "They would never do betray the league or the team."
"Really," Valerie pipped up. "Then explain why Artemis had arrows or ectoranium and black pearl, elements that can hurt mystics and ghosts, who we're trying to help. Explain why Wally had one of those arrows at Siren's neck and was threatening to cut out his vocal cords. Explain how every mission we had was always worked against the mystics. The Light suddenly having access to the elements that hurt them. Vlad just so happening to be at Santa Prisca. Villains being able to get to Camelot, the Eternal Spring, Delos, and the Library. Music Meister, a villain that forced Siren to use his most hated ability. Them knowing about the Weapons of the Ancients."
"How could none of you ever see the connection," Krinos yells. "How could none of you notice that it was never a hero that was targeted, but magic. Specifically, Phantom and Siren."
"You all suspected a mole," Manhunter asked the mystics and Red Huntress.
They all nodded.
"And why didn't you bring this up with anyone," Canary asked, crossing her arms.
"Would you have believed us," Alain glared. "Would you believe any of us over two of your 'sidekicks' that you've known for years."
"Look at us," Caitlin says. "I'm a were-cat. Alain's a werewolf. Then you have two sirens, a ghost, three vampires, an animal witch, the children of Morgan LeFey, and the lord of nature."
"We've faced rejection our entire lives," Juliet said. "So tell us the truth. Would you have believed a bunch of 'freaks' and 'monsters' over your own sidekicks?"
The gaze of the mystics and Huntress would be enough to send even the Joker running, screaming for his life.
"As much as I like putting these guys in their place, we have a kidnapped ghost and siren to rescue," Erica reminded.
"And psycho scientists to skin alive," Dick growled, Batman feeling sympathy for his first protégé losing his brothers for a second time.
"How were they taken," Tornado asked, as Nightwing and Batman started typing on the holographic computer.
"We had all been separated into the story sections when the agents, Nazi, and villains attacked us," Ethan explained. "Myself, Erica, Roy, and Caitlin ended up in the Graphic Novels section. Lena, Nightwing, Kaldur. Juliet, and Alya were in the Children's section. Orion, Alain, Ma'gann, Valerie, and Garfield were in Horror. Phantom, Conner, Krinos, Mason, and Sarah had been in Mythology. And Siren, Jaime, Melinda, and Skylar ended up in the Fantasy section."
"We sent them all to who knows where after beating them until Tuesday finds a saddlebag full of buckwheat," Alya took over. "We went to check on the heart before searching for any stragglers. The heart was fine and the defenses would be too strong for any human or mortal to get through without us. But when we turned around, the twins were gone."
"I went over to check something I saw on the floor," Roy said, pulling it out. "It was this small shard of ectoranium."
The mystics moved away from him, feeling the small pain brought on by the shard. Caitlin hissed at it like the cat she is and Alain growled at it.
"Dame it," Dick swore, slamming his hands on the keyboard.
"Language," Lena warned, putting her hands over Beast Boy's ears.
"Nature users," Sarah threw her arms in the air. "So golden hearted that it makes your sweet tooth hurt."
"Hey," Lena and Krinos protested.
"Sorry, but their trackers have been disabled," Dick says, through clenched teeth. "And according to a message from Superman and , the facility from before has been cleaned out. We have no way to find them."
"That's not entirely true," Juliet says.
Many heads turned to face her. The Camelot witch was standing next to Alya, Alain, and Melinda.
"Just look at the four of us," Melinda gestured. "Two all powerful witches that could easily cast a locator or tracking spell. And also an animal witch and werewolf that can track scents for miles."
The stares that they got from the heroes were priceless.
"How you people have survived this long without abilities, like ours, is a magic on its own," Caitlin shook her head.
"Then let's not just stand around here like statues," Jaime said. "I'm going to have a panic attack if we don't find my boyfriend soon."
Choosing to ignore the looks from the adults, the team ran off to the hanger. As they all sat down in the formed chair of the bio-ship, minus the mystics that can fly, Nightwing looked at something that he had hidden in his hand. He stared at the object in his hand. It was a navy blue, gray, and regular blue amulet with a quartz center and two sides bent upwards like elephant tusks.
"I will find my brothers, and save them," he said to himself. "And when I do, I have a friend that will be having a very heavy handed 'talk' with these psychos. Gods, i'm started to sound as sadistic as Joker. We're all gonna need therapy after this."
