Chapter 67: The Cell Games Grand Opening
Artificial Humans Saga Part 3: The Cell Games- Part 6
[Musical Cue #1: Opening- Time to Say Goodbye by Jeff Williams feat. Casey Lee Williams (RWBY Volume 2 OP)]
[Musical Cue #2: Ending- Creeping in My Soul by Cryoshell]
It was early morning as Goku, Gohan and Raditz sat around the table at the Son Family residence at Mount Paozu, all being incredibly quiet as they waited for Chi-Chi to finish making the large breakfast that they had planned to eat. They knew that this was going to be a long and rough day for all of them, so they needed to eat as much as possible before the grand tournament for the fate of the world.
The Earth-raised warrior, already in his Mastered Super Saiyan form looked the most relaxed out of everyone in the house, humming calmly as she swinged from side to side waiting for the food to be ready, which made the other two Saiyans feel both relieved and still concerned, since they knew that Cell would be powerful.
"There are always two things I can say that get my blood pumping: Chi-Chi's food and a good fight." the Earth's greatest warrior said as he spoke rather lightheartedly while also having an expression of a blissful child plastered all over his face, which concerned his older brother quite a bit, given the situation that they were dealing with.
Because of his younger brother's remark, Bardock's oldest child looked over his younger and foolish sibling with a slight scowl. "Tell me, brother, are you actually so confident in whatever plan that you've made that Cell would be 100% killed? Because as someone who had fought him, you should know not to expect him to be too much like you. He is part Cooler, King Cold and Vegeta, so don't trust his word whatsoever." the long-haired Mastered Super Saiyan spoke up to his brother, sharing his own experience with the creature while also giving a little insult towards Vegeta and the two dead Frost Demons.
The Earth-raised Saiyan simply smirked and waved away his brother's concerns while the son of the planet's greatest warrior simply smiled with confidence in his father. "There's nothing to worry too much, Uncle Raditz. I know that dad found something inside the Hyperbolic Time Chamber and he is for sure can defeat Cell." he said with full confident in his father's plan, sure that there was no way that the man who had beaten the odd over and over again could lose.
The burly Saiyan looked skeptical as he raised an eyebrow and looked back from his nephew to his brother, the latter nodding and giving him a cheeky grin that showed that he confirmed what his son just spoke of and then he gave him a thumbs up to reassure the burly man of the success of whatever plan he cooked up.
In defeat in his argument with his brother, the long-haired Super Saiyan just sighed. "Fine, I'll trust you and whatever plan you have in store. If it is anything similar to your other ideas to either make us strong or by us time, then I'm willing to trust you on this." he said as he leaned his back against his chair and crossed his arms.
They then spend the next half-an-hour eating their breakfast, which consisted of so much food that their bellies swelled from the amount that they had eaten. Because of that they had waited nearly an hour until they were finally prepared to go and fight in the Cell Games, right after taking Chi-Chi to the Capsule Corp. building, where everyone who wasn't going to fight in the Cell Games stayed to watch the entire even, especially since Bulma worked on special cameras of her own. That group included Master Roshi, Oolong, Puar, Chiaotzu, Launch, Bulma, Baby Trunks, Bra, Krillin, Archako and Maron, keeping up to their promise on the lookout four days earlier.
In front of the large building the three Saiyans met up with Trunks and Yamcha, who came there specifically to say their goodbyes to their loved ones in case things took a nasty turn during the tournament for the fate of the world, which were just brushed aside casually by Goku, who told them both that "He had things under control." in his own words. The group also saw that the swordsman from the future was wearing the same clothes and jacket that he wore when he first arrived in the timeline three years ago, with his sword strapped on his back.
However, before the group could fly away to where the Cell Games were going to take place, Krillin rushed to the group.
"Wait up!" he told them as he waved to them from the balcony of one of the upper floors of the building, to which everybody waved back happily, including Future Trunks. "Remember, don't use techniques like the Kienzan! He will simply heal from it and grow stronger!" he warned as he gave them his advice, to which Goku simply gave him a huge grin and a thumbs up before everyone flew away.
[Musical Cue #1: Opening- Time to Say Goodbye by Jeff Williams feat. Casey Lee Williams]
The Cell Games Area,
Perfect Cell stood in the middle of his squared, tiled area in the middle of the wasteland in which the battle between Goku, Raditz and Vegeta for the fate of the world once took place in more than almost seven years ago. He had his eyes closed and his ears open, his nose taking in the smells of his surroundings and his armored shell over his skin felt the wind moving against it smoothly. He had heightened every sense he could think of as anticipation for the arrival of the Z-Fighters made his body nearly shake with excitement. His final battle with Goku, the greatest hurdle that he had to overcome to truly win was going to take part today, and with Son Goku's defeat he knew that the moral of the defenders of the planet and their last spot of hope would truly die. That's how he knew he was going to win, by breaking their spirits completely.
'To be honest, I really think that they have a chance to at least give me a challenge, especially after feeling some of the powers that they had a few days ago. I'm just afraid that this will be the only chance that I'll have to fight someone who can challenge me in my whole life.' he thought to himself as he frowned slightly with regret, his thoughts showing how much he was afraid to lose the one place where he could get a challenge.
He opened his eyes as he heard heavy footsteps on the group walking towards the area, forcing the ultimate life form to open his eyes with an intrigued look in them as he wanted to see who the challenger that had just arrived is. His eyes then widened with shock as he saw in front of the area, right outside of its boundaries stood none other than a fully repaired and functioning Android 16.
This made a chilling grin appear on the bio-android's face to appear as his eyes locked with those of his fully mechanical brother. "Well hello there, Adrian." he started the conversation by referring to the giant of a man by the name that inspired the creation of the robot, the late son of Doctor Gero. This didn't get a single reaction out of the android, so the bio-mechanical being simply kept on speaking. "Fancy seeing you here before everyone else. I'm surprised that you even decided to show up at all, given how utterly powerless you are in comparison by now. I can still remember that fight we had with seething anger." he said as he simply spoke to his "brother" in a jovial manner, not showing any anger despite the claims that he made.
However, Sixteen didn't react at all to all that the bio-android had to say to him, as his eyes simply darted around the area and scanned something. After he finished looking around, his eyes locked with Cell's once more. "What do you have hiding around?" he inquired unflinchingly at the presence of the powerful being.
The amalgamated creature simply smirked as if he was pleasantly pleased with hearing what the question was. "Oh, so you found them out, huh? Well, it's just a little present to the Dragon Team in case they try to intervene with my destined fight with Son Goku. Or just to beat the crap out of Vegeta, Bryco and Tien Shinhan." he said while keeping up his jovial tone. The mechanical being was surprised that the self-proclaimed life form was so pleased at the moment.
"Why those three in particular?" Adrian inquired.
Cell simply shrugged as he kept smiling. "Because I hate them. They pissed me off the most thus far and that's why I want them to get hurt the most. With Yamcha there is no need to target him directly, since life screws him on general principle." the green-exoskeleton covered creature said with a smug grin on his face as he made a mean-spirited comment at the former-bandit's expense.
Suddenly the ki-sensing sense of the bio-android sent a wave of awareness into his mind and the scanners in the head of the android beeped as they both looked at the same direction: up. They both sensed someone appearing and saw a figure in the sky, who slowly descended down with what seemed to be some sort of an attempt to make himself seem important. Cell simply smirked mockingly. "Well, it seems that the prince arrived." he snickered as he saw that the Mastered Super Saiyan slowly reached the altitude where the two could see the short Saiyan royalty.
While the flame-haired Mastered Super Saiyan continued to descend down slowly to the ground, the amalgamated creature looked at his wrist with boredom, mimicking the action of looking at a wrist watch. He then looked back at the prince and gave him a smug smirk. "You know your bluster isn't going to work on me, short stack. So why don't you get down here and stop wasting our time? Unless you're just buying time for Goku to show up just to praise you so you could feel better about yourself?" the amalgamated creature kept up with his taunting, to which the flame-haired Mastered Super Saiyan scowl at the creature, to which said creature simply kept smirking smugly, satisfied with the reaction.
When the man's feet finally made contact with the ground, they a barely audible "TAP!" sound, which Cell and Sixteen could hear perfectly well. The prince had landed not too far to the large, redhead android's left, his hands not unraveling from their crossed posture and the stance in which the prince stood had not changed at all, his body not moving an inch while he was descending to the ground.
Cell chuckled as he looked at the Saiyan whom was last of his royal bloodline. "Oh come on, Vegeta. Are you seriously pouting while still trying to look cool and proud?" he inquired as he pointed at the Saiyan while also snickering, making the man's body shake with rage. "Arrogance does not benefit you. So why don't you just do what you do best and start crying like that baby that you call "son" does? Because in reality you're nothing but a simple big baby in a small man's body." the amalgamated creature finished his mocking as he began laughing out loud.
The prince finally cracked as he looked seething with rage. He began charging at the creature, but the mechanical being grabbed him from behind and held him in a Full Nelson lock with all of the might that his gigantic body could muster. Improvements from Bulma included.
"FUCK YOU! FUCK YOU! I'LL TEAR YOU APART, YOU PIECE OF SHIT!" the golden-haired royal screamed at the top of his lungs as he waved his hands frantically, sneering and growling like a rabid dog a the ultimate life form, only to then raise both of his arms, extend them forward and flip the monster off! "I'LL RIP YOUR HEAD OFF AND DRINK YOUR BLOOD FROM THE NECK STUMP, YOU FUCK!" the prince kept on screaming in rage as he kicked his legs in the air forward as he flipped the bug-man as hard as he could.
"Jeez, not even five minutes and you almost start a fight by throwing a hissy fit and cursing like an edgy teenager. Not surprising when it comes from you, Vegeta." a voice came from above as it stopped Vegeta's rage momentarily, making them all look up and see that in the air floated none other than Tien Shinhan, who quickly descended down to the ground with his arms slumping besides his torso as he looked completely relaxed, if not a bit irritated.
At this point Cell's expression became sour as he saw the human, who was already in his Mastered Burst Limit form, which wasn't really noticeable to anyone aside from his red eyes, as his aura was not activated at the moment. The perfect being looked into the eyes and his own eyes narrowed. "Tien..." he said with anger and bitterness to his voice, showing that it was oozing with hatred. "Not only are you here, but you're also using the same form Yamcha used when he fought against me." he analyzed the human only to take a deep breath before exhaling. He was probably very nettled at this. "I would really love watching you suffer before I kill you. Painfully so." he said with completely serious, which contrasted heavily with how he addressed the Super Saiyan prince.
Despite the enormous amount of killing intent that radiated from the perfect being could freeze the human in place, and it certainly did concern the redhead android quite a lot, the bald martial artist master simply smirked and showed that the threat completely unfazed him, angering the creature even more.
"Oh really? You really want to start throwing punches now, Cell?" the three-eyed warrior inquired with a taunting smirk on his face as he looked straight into the hateful eyes of the amalgamated creature. "Do you really want to throw punches before the cameras show up? You did want this even to be televised so that you could shatter the hope of all the people of Earth, right?" he kept on inquiring as he looked completely smug at the amalgamated being, thinking he knew why he did the things he did before the beginning of the Cell Games.
Grinding his teeth furiously, the ultimate creation of Doctor Gero and Doctor Wheelo took a big breath in, before exhaling as he tried to calm himself down. He did this for a whole minute, which surprised the two warriors and the android with the red Mohawk, before the ultimate creation finally calmed his nerves completely. "In a way, that is one of my goal by inviting the entire world to see this tournament." the creature said, confirming at least in part the assumption that the tri-clops had about his reasons to create the tournament. "However, this wasn't the only reason." he said as he raised his finger up.
The tri-clops raised an eyebrow upon hearing what the bug-man had just said, waiting to hear how he continued his explanation from there. "You see, how many people on Earth know about Freeza and his family, whom spread terror across the entire universe?" he asked as he looked at the three while a smirk rose to his face. "How many had even heard of Dr. Gero and Dr. Wheelo until I made my announcement? Some probably still remember the Red Ribbon Army, but not very many of them." he said as he continued on talking, going on and one.
"What's your point?" the prince suddenly cut him, feeling this whole thing felt to him completely unnecessary at best.
This made the perfect being to scowl. "My point, Vegeta, is that this world is living in complete ignorance about not only everything about the universe around it, but about the most important things that happen on this planet, like when a bunch of martial artists are fighting to prevent it from exploding. I want them to know who is going to kill them all, so that's why I wanted this tournament to be televised." he explained as he kept on a big smile on his face, completely unfazed as he spouted his reasons for the tournament.
Suddenly, with a loud "ZIP!" sound, the rest of the Dragon Team appeared out of thin air and stood behind the three warriors whom had already arrived. All the members of the group had powered up to their strongest form, with the exception of Katanaji, who had no form to transform into. Among the group Future Trunks was wearing an identical outfit to that of his father, but he also carried his sword on his back, ready to use it if the situation required him to. He didn't care that using weapons were probably prohibited in this "tournament", he was going to make sure that Cell was dealt with no matter how it looked to others.
Goku was wearing his usual Turtle School gi on his body as he started doing some stretches to warm up his muscles for his fight. He was completely nonchalant about the threat that was looming over everybody and in fact just looked excited for another fight. He looked around the group with a smile on his face while he did his stretching. At first he looked at Cell as he felt a fiery need within his body to punch the amalgamated creature in his jawline and get punched by him in the cheek. The thought of fighting someone with such power that emanated from the amalgamated creature's mere presence made Goku's body shake with thrilling anticipation.
After looking at the bug-man, he looked over at the Saiyan prince, who glared daggers at him, which the Earth-raised Saiyan didn't fully understand and neither did he really care if the prince loved or hated him. He stopped his stretching for a few seconds and waved at the prince with a huge grin on his face, only for said prince to immediately flip him off while several veins were throbbing visibly on his forehead. As a response to that, the Earth-raised Saiyan simply gave him a thumbs up, pissing off theprince even further than he already was after Cell's taunting. 'As expected of one of my greatest rivals.' he thought to himself cheerfully.
He then looked over to his older brother and to the giant Namekian warrior. Both looked back at him and gave him a stern nod, showing that they knew that he was up to something, that he had a plan to deal to with the ultimate life form, but he knew that they didn't know exactly what he had planned. If they had, they would have refused to allow him to do it, claiming it was reckless and stupid. However, once they would see what he saw, what he discovered, then they would completely agree with him.
Just when the Mastered Super Saiyan had finished his stretches, everyone could hear the sound of helicopter blades coming on their way to the arena, which made all the fighters look in it's direction. Cell smirked as a helicopter finally showed itself in the open area, trying to maneuver around the mountainous area of the wasteland. "Ah, it seems like the filming crew is finally here. Soon enough I can start the opening ceremony." he said nonchalantly as the smirk on his face showed that he was happy with this development.
It took a few minutes before the chopper could finally find a solid place to land on without the helicopter falling or being destabilized, just so that no one inside it could get hurt. Vegeta looked as he noticed two figures coming out of the machine and spat in disgust. "Pathetic. To think that we need to wait for some humans before I smash Cell's smug prick face in and obliterated him down to the last cell is utterly infuriating and revolting." he said as he ground his teeth while he spoke rather silently to himself.
"What was that, Vegeta? I couldn't hear you over from up here?" the amalgamated creature mocked the prince with a smug expression of satisfaction on his face.
The prince turned to the perfect being and narrowed his eyes with hatred. "Just wait until I get my hands on you, you wanna-be freak." he insulted with venom in his words as he slowly raised his right arm, which shook with anger just to flip the bird at the perfect being one more time.
At this the amalgamated creature simply laughed mockingly. "When you get your hands on me? You wouldn't reach me with your short arms before I bash your head in, Napoleon Complex. And unlike me, you can't heal, so you'll just be another wish on the dragon balls." he continued to mock the flame-haired royal warrior before he turned and looked at Bryco. "Same goes for you, "honorable" bastard." he said as he insulted the man instantly and without hesitation after threatening to kill him. He then looked over at the tall, bald human and narrowed his glare on him. "And of course you'll get the worst of it, Tien Shinhan." he threatened the Earthling next with venom in his voice.
The tallest Mastered Super Saiyan sneered at the amalgamated being trying his best to intimidate him while the human simply smirked mockingly with confidence.
When the entire group turned slightly at the sound of feet hitting the ground, they noticed that two people were running towards the area, making Cell smirk. "It seems that broadcast is about to start." he said as a small smile appeared on his lips before changing it into a stoic expression and he crossed his arms in front of his chest while standing tall, looking as having an incredible presence.
Goku, in a moment in which his eyes widen, then reverted to his base form and smiled while putting his hands on his waist. "Alright, we're about to go on TV! Maybe someone will recognize us from all the Tenkaichi Budokai tournaments that we participated in?" he asked as he showed a lot of excitement over being seen on TV. "I really want to say hello to King Furry. After all I did save his life and never got to meet him." he said with a big smile on his face as he remembered his battle with Piccolo Daimao in the capital city of Earth.
Yamcha nodded his head as he also reverted to his base form, knowing that that way he would be recognized for his successful baseball career and less for his embarrassing defeats at the Tenkaichi Budokai. He sighed in defeat thinking about those matches from back at the day.
Tien simply sighed and crossed his arms in front of his chest but didn't revert back to his base like the other two. He knew that his three eyes and bald head were enough for people to recognize him. Not that it mattered to him was to save the planet by defeating Cell. He didn't want the fame, he did want to be appreciated and his skill to be praised for being masterful, but he still had ways to go to catch up to Goku in terms of power and skill. But right now all that mattered to him was Cell's defeat.
Gohan sighed with an annoyed toe as he pinched the bridge of his nose as he looked at his father. "Dad, why do you care if someone recognizes you or not? We're not about fame or fortune and we just want to save lives, right? So why do you care?" he inquired as if he was utterly baffled about his father's behavior.
The green-skinned warrior then looked over at the palm-haired Saiyan. "You know, he's got a point. This is way too out of character for you of all people, Goku." the giant Namekian warrior remarked as he had a completely stoic expression on his face while also crossing his arms in front of his chest. "What's the catch this time?" he asked as he was worried that the Saiyan was trying some trick.
The man simply shrugged his shoulders with a look on his that simply said "why not". "Come on, guys. If we're going to be on TV then we should just enjoy it a little bit. I mean, I'll be so focused on my fight with Cell to really care about it, so I wanna care about it now just for the fun of it. Don't you guys wanna have fun?" he asked as he finished his jovial and nonchalant explanation, making everyone sweat nervously while looking at him.
"Brother, have you gotten another bump on your head or something?" the eldest son of Bardock questioned his younger brother with a completely serious tone while in complete disbelief other how his brother was acting. 'He's taking things too lightly. he might have too much confidence in that plan of his.' the burly Mastered Super Saiyan thought to himself with concern.
Goku simply waved his hand. "Nah, I'm good." he said with a huge grin on his face.
This made Cell chuckle. "Hm... it seems that Son Goku has a talent for the theatrics as well. Good to know. Now I need to get my serious face on." he said as he then returned to looking strong and intimidating through presence alone.
It took a little bit of time before the filming crew finally arrived to the area, with the TV announcer looking like a rather short man who was wearing a fine black suit over a white, long-sleeved undershirt, as well as a black tie. His hair was groomed and he had a small and very identifiable mustache. He also held to his microphone so tightly that it seemed as if the thing was glued to his hand. His cameraman was a taller blonde man wearing a pair of jeans, a t-shirt and a baseball cap turned backwards.
The announcer turned to the cameraman, who quickly put up the camera on his shoulder and prepared to start filming. "And roll it." the announcer said to the cameraman, who simply nodded quickly and quickly turned on the camera and gestured that he started filming. "Hello everyone. Jimmy Firecracker here from the newly-dubbed "Cell Games Arena", which today will host the tournament that will decided the fate of the entire planet! And the only station to film the events live is none other than the illustrious, worldwide Z-TV!" he announced with great enthusiasm as he seemed to be trying to hype the crowd at home as well as build tension by scaring them.
The entire group and the greatest creation of the two doctors looked at the announcer, with a bead of sweat appearing on the brow of the entire roster of the Dragon Team: humans, Saiyans and Namekians alike. On the other hand, the greatest creation of Dr. Gero and Dr. Wheelo had a small smirk appearing on his face as he listened to how the announcer hyped up the event. 'Hm... he does have a great style to him. Very entertaining.' he thought to himself as he stayed completely still on his stage.
"Today, after an entire week of tensions rising across the entire world, all eyes are now centered here on this square, tiled area with four perfectly structured columns, which are impossibly shaped to witness our world greatest fighter and champion of the 24th Tenkaichi Budkai, Mr. Hercule Satan, to fight and save us from the huge and impossible threat of the perfect amalgamation of mechanical and biological engineering." the announcer, Jimmy Firecracker kept on talking as he continued to hype up the event while speaking with fear and excitement in his voice, talking so much as he also brought up a subject that confused both Cell and the entire Dragon Team.
'Wait, what?' Cell thought to himself as he raised an eyebrow with interest and straight confusion that he heard that he was going to be challenged by a lowly human whom he had never heard about, who apparently won the Tenkaichi Budokai. 'Is this a joke?' he asked inside his head as was not sure on how to take this new information.
'Wait... what?' Goku thought to himself as he heard what the announcer was talking about and his eyes lit up with stars in them as a gigantic grin appeared on his face. 'There was another Tenkaichi Budokai?! And its champion is here?! This is gonna be great! I'm gonna get to see a new type of martial arts! Then I'll get to fight Cell!' he thought to himself with excitement as the thought of new fighting styles made him feel giddy like a child.
Katanaji simply rolled his eyes and groaned with an annoyed tone to his voice. 'Of course you would think that, Goku.' the Namekian thought to himself as he had read the palm-haired Saiyan's mind.
'Wait, WHAT?!' Trunks's eyes widened with anger as he heard the same announcement that everyone else had heard. 'Are they freaking insane?! They're sending a regular human to fight Cell? Do they want that man to die?! What is wrong with everyone in the past?!' he thought to himself furiously as his body shook as he was enraged and utterly baffled with what he had heard.
Not noticing anyone of the Dragon Team just yet, or at least not addressing them yet, Jimmy Firecracker continued his speech. "However, while many of you showed fear and panic over the potential destructive threat of the biological machine, our champ's strength and skill is mighty enough to give him the title of "Strongest Under the Heavens". He had also said in an interview with Z-TV, which you should without a doubt watch in our official website , where he had stated that Cell uses nothing but tricks of illusions and mirrors, without showing any real skill of martial arts. From that interview "The Champ" showing great confidence in his chances of defeating the bug-looking person standing in that arena. What do you all think? Does he. Stand. A. Chance?!" the announcer kept on talking to the camera on and on, with some of the things that the announcer said making most of the Z-Fighters very concerned or pissed.
Cell, who heard everything thanks to his enhanced hearing courtesy of his Namekian DNA, furrowed his brow. 'Okay, that Mister Satan guy is now on my 'Shit List' right beneath Sixteen.' he thought to himself as he was definitely offended.
Tien scowled and ground his teeth while snarling with fury as veins throbbed across his brow and neck, seeming like they were about to burst at any second. Out of all the Z-Fighters, he looked the most infuriated, offended and personally assaulted, looking even angrier than Raditz, Vegeta and Bryco as they also scowled and snarled to different degrees.
'How dare he?! Just because that Mister Satan guy won the Tenkaichi Budokai makes him think that he can just lump legendary techniques and the perfection of mind and spirit as mere "tricks of illusions and mirrors"?! Everything I worked for my entire life, all the skills I acquired, all the ki techniques I mastered and invented, all the credibility I've gained among warriors thanks to my hard work and determination are going to be thought of by the entire world to be just "illusions and mirrors" because of some overconfident oaf!?' he thought to himself as he started to see red.
Everybody noticed this change in attitude and demeanor in the tri-clops almonst immediately, with Goku and Yamcha quickly putting a reassuring and comforting hand on each of the bald man's giant shoulders to try to calm him down. Yamcha had a serene and understanding expression on his face while Goku had a big, joyful grin on his face.
"Hey cheer up, Tien. We just have to focus on Cell, right? Will punching him in the face make you feel better? I certainly would make my blood pump with a thrill in it." he said happily as she tried to help his friend recompose himself with a positive attitude.
Suddenly, the TV announcer turned and saw that the group of warriors who were hanging around and waiting for the fighting to start. "It appears that Mr. Satan isn't the only person here to day to challenge the monstrosity. It appears that several other people have gathered here to test their might in an attempt to defeat the terrifying creature that is Cell. We are now waiting for our researchers to identify these people. But being the brave firecracker that I am, I shall go and interview them myself!" he talked to the crowds whom were probably watching from around the world before he started to run towards the defenders of Earth, his cameraman right behind him.
The first person that he reached to was none other than Katanaji. He then put the microphone close to the face of the green-skinned alien. "Hello there, green-skinned individual. Who might you be? Might you share the reason as to why you have come here today?" he inquired as he tried to goad the giant alien to give an interview.
Katanaji simply pushed the microphone away from his face. "I am not the kind to talk freely to others. I am willing to share wisdom, so I suggest that the two of you should leave this place now if you want to live to see tomorrow." the Namekian said as he imparted his words of warning not as a threat, but as a very fine suggestion for the two humans to do.
"Oh, oh, I wanna talk too." the palm-haired Saiyan said with childish enthusiasm while carrying a giant grin on his face, making almost everyone of his allies groan in annoyance while his son, older brother, the bald monk, the time traveler and the Saiyan prince to pinch the bridge of their noses.
However, this was enough to get the attention of the TV announcer, who then walked up to the martial artist as quickly as he could and shoved the microphone in his face. "And who are you supposed to be, good sir?" the short man asked as he tried to get the group to open up and talk.
Goku grinned as he put both hands on his waist. "I'm Son Goku, and I'm gonna punch Cell a lot today." he said with a jolly tone while he spoke to the man completely nonchalantly, showing no real care in the world and only seemed to care about his upcoming fight. Sure, those who knew him well knew that he deeply cared about saving the world, but right now he just wanted to fight the greatest creation of the two doctors who sought his demise.
The youngest of the Z-Fighters gave a defeated sigh upon hearing what his father had to say to the press. 'Huh... well, he's not lying and he's definitely not wrong. But thankfully that's all he said. The last thing we need is a bunch of reporters on our doorstep.' he thought to himself as he was concerned about what his father might say. He then looked up at his father and smiled. 'But I know that you'll beat him, dad. You always save us, the light that pushes the darkness away.' he kept thinking to himself as he thought about how he saw his father.
"So, Mr. Son Goku, do you believe that you can do any better against this monstrosity than Mr. Satan, the man who had gained the title of "Strongest Under the Heavens" by winning the greatest tournament of martial arts?" he inquired with added flair of dramatics by using pauses in his sentence while also looking at the camera.
The Earth-raised Saiyan simply shrugged his shoulders. "Eh, I don't know. I mean, I also won the Tenkaichi Budokai 11 years ago and reached the finals in the two tournaments prior to winning, so I think I can manage." he answered completely nonchalantly as he then looked over at the bio-mechanical android. "Hey Cell, what do you think?" he asked in a friendly manner as he kept on grinning like an idiot.
Vegeta, Raditz, Bryco and Trunks all facepalmed at how idiotic the Earth's greatest warrior was sounding right now. 'Fucking idiot!' Vegeta thought to himself as he slammed his hand against his face the hardest.
'Is he serious?!' Mirai Trunks thought angrily as he was starting to lose patience with this whole farce and just wanted to charge at Cell himself to just kill the bastard and get things over with.
'He's looking like a clown right now? Is he doing that intentionally? Does he have no self respect? No honor?' Bryco thought to himself as he slammed his hand against his face multiple times.
'Kakarot, right now you're being either a giant dumbass or a giant smartass. Both of these feel incredibly out of place for you. What is it that you're trying to do?' Raditz thought as he seemed the most concerned and thoughtful over his younger brother's behavior.
Cell clicked his tongue loudly as he had a slightly irritated expression on his face before he took a very long and deep sigh. "Fine. You know what, Goku? I'll crush that Mr. Satan before I fight you. But before any of that..." he said as he then looked over to the cameraman as a smirk rose to his face. "Oh cameraman, keep the shot completely on me. Mr. announcer, may I have the microphone?" he asked only to then use the afterimage technique to sneak upon the human and steal his microphone from his hand and return to the spot where he stood an instant later before the none-powered individuals could even notice that he moved, much to their shock as they were to seeing the device in the creature's hand.
Clearing his throat, the amalgamated being put the microphone close to his mouth. "I hope all of you back home will enjoy my song to open the ceremony. Trust me, it's a killer." he said to the camera before he started singing out of the blue.
"P - is for priceless, the look upon your faces.
E - is for evolution, over all your puny races.
R - is for revolution, which is currently televised.
F - is for the finish of your fledgling, pathetic little lives. Now allow me to repriiiiiise!
E - is for exquisite, the marvel that is my body.
C - is for this ceremony, which is sweet as a candy.
T - is for the terror upon you I'll bestow.
My name is Perfect Cell, and welcome to my grand life and death tournament, The Cell Games!" he shouted at the top of his lungs with a mixture of glee and excitement as he raised his arm that held the microphone over his head and suddenly from all over the mountain range around them beams of ki were fired up into the sky before exploding like fireworks.
It was then, during the large and bright light show that all of the Dragon Team realized that there were other ki signatures around. They didn't really feel them because they were so low, but it made all of them more wary and on-guard as a result of that.
'What the hell was that?' Katanaji thought to himself with concern as he started to ponder on what exactly were the ki signatures that he had just sense. He couldn't really sense it fast enough and get a clear read because they were probably heavily suppressed and only acted up for a second, but now he was clearly on high alert. He looked over to Goku and Gohan, with the latter looking around with a concerned look on his face. 'So they sensed it probably better than the rest of us. Good. I hope that Gohan will remain vigilant to warn us in case anyone tries to backstab us.' the green-skinned warrior thought to himself as he took into consideration the enhanced ki sensing ability that the two possessed.
After the song, Cell threw the microphone back to the TV announcer, who managed to stumble slightly as he caught the device in his hands before forcing a grip on it with his left hand while also putting his right hand over the earpiece that he possessed in his right ear.
"This has just come in. Information on these new and intriguing contestants. In front of us we have none other than three participants of the past Tenkaichi Budokai tournaments, alongside baseball superstar Yamcha, the second baseman of the West City Eastmen. The two well known contestants next to him are winner of the 22nd Tenkaichi Budokai and semi-finalist of the 23rd Tenkaichi Budokai, Tien Shinhan. The one who called himself Son Goku is himself the finalist of the 21st and 22nd Tenkaichi Budokai and winner of the 23rd Tenkaichi Budokai." he explained to the audience across the world as the tri-clops gave a huff of satisfaction.
He then pushed in front of Goku's face once again. "So, Mr. Son Goku, what is your opinion on this tournament and do you agree with Mr. Satan's statement about Cell?" he inquired as he obviously desired more of an interview with the former champion.
The palm-haired Saiyan looked over at his son and took a deep breath, his face turning from a childish excitement into a very serious and stern expression on his face, showing that despite being a battle-hungry manchild, he still knew that this was something serious and that he should take things as seriously as possible. "I haven't met Mr. Satan yet and I certainly can't wait to see what he has to offer in terms of martial arts skills, but I heavily disagree with his statement about Cell. The threat to the planet is genuine and that's why we're all here to save it." he said while speaking very seriously to the short TV announcer, which surprised not only Gohan, but most of the Z-Fighters as well.
Suddenly everyone heard a loud blow horn that echoed in the air, which got everyone's attention and caused both Perfect Cell and Katanaji to cover their ears in pain. As a result they all looked in the direction which the sound originated from. Nearly half-a-minute later a large helicopter appeared in the distance and it seemed to be heading right towards the arena. It was painted fully black, but on the sides it had two red devil horns painted on their with the word "Satan" in between the left and right horns.
Almost all of the Z-Fighters, with the exception of Goku, Gohan and Yamcha scowled at the sight of the large helicopter as they immediately didn't have the best impression of the man who was probably sitting inside that chopper. Jimmy Firecracker's cameraman had his camera completely locked on said helicopter while the announcer began talking to the audience. "Here he is, folks. The current martial arts champion and arguably one of if not the greatest fighter and warrior on the face of the planet, Mr. Satan, has finally arrived! Will his presence here would be enough to take down the multi-talented Cell, or will one of the former champions will defeat this creature of great showmanship to save our planet?!" the man hyped up the arrival of the champion of the 24th Tenkaichi Budokai with great flare to his voice and mannerisms.
As the chopped was quickly arriving right above the stage of the Cell Games arena, the side door of the vehicle opened up to reveal the man who was proclaimed as "The Champ", Hercule Satan. He was a tall man who had a slight tan to his skin, as well as having an incredibly muscular physic to his body that showed that he has indeed trained for decades to steel his flesh and blood into a tool capable of performing great acts of strength and could possibly have the capabilities of using great skill in the martial arts.
Though he did have a strong body that matched the type of physical appearance of the likes of someone like Tien Shinhan, considering how large and broad his incredibly muscular shoulders were, the human champion had several quirky features to his appearance that made a slight whiplash and dissonance with what was expected of a master martial artist like the mythical hermit Muten Roshi. On the large man's head was his utterly ridiculous hairstyle, which was just a giant, black-haired Afro, a fairly large mustache and some sickly-styled sideburns.
The gi that he was wearing was a top that was open to the point that the opening on his top had reached down to the center of his torso and revealed his very hairy chest, as well as having sleeved that were folded up until his elbows, though they were still so large that there was a very large amount of space to fill those sleeves with an entire fire extinguisher. The pants that he was wearing were just plain white baggy pants and he wore tall black boots with their center being a long strip of white going vertically from the top center of the boots down to the tows, while having many small horizontal lines across the length of the vertical line, and his lacing and soles of the boots were also white.
The man had his clothes tied together using a white sash, which above it was what was the biggest feature about him: a golden belt with an emblem on its center wrapped around his waist. It looked very extravagant and showed a bit about the mans personality, something rather vain that the human fighters of the Dragon Team did not appreciate very much. Finally, the champion of the 24th Tenkaichi Budokai had a long, white cape that was tied around his neck and reached down slightly beneath his posterior.
As the cape blew in the wind while the helicopter descended closer and closer to the arena, the man took out of his pocket a capsule and threw it down on the arena. With a poof and a large explosion of smoke, something that was a common thing in every capsule ever made, what appeared to be stored in it were so many rectangular, thick tablets of stone that they were stacked on top of each other, reaching to the height of 5 meters in the air. It was then that Hercule Satan jumped from the plane, did several somersaults before bringing down his hand down in a chopping motion and striking at the center of the top stone tablet, slitting it in two. In just a few seconds later, every single one of the stone tablets broke apart into two perfectly symmetrical halves while the human landed right in front of them, not looking any worse for wear except for the fact that his hand was a little bit swollen. There seemed to be no injuries to any other part of his body, most importantly the knees.
The entire group looked on at the human martial artist with various reactions: Goku had a big smile on his face, as now someone was standing inside the ring and was about to fight, showing a unique style of martial arts. Tien, Yamcha, Katanaji and Gohan had raised an eyebrow which showed both their surprise and their positive impression of the feat that The Champ had just done. Adrian looked stoically at the arena with no real reaction and Vegeta, Raditz, Bryco and Mirai Trunks looked both not impressed and confused.
"The fact that not only are his knees completely uninjured from falling about 10 meters in total and having the raw strength to break all those stone tablets with one chop is certainly something far above the level of a normal human and maybe even above all martial artists who cannot use ki." the three-eyed man said as he was eying the martial artist who was standing on the ring, blowing on his swollen hand. "The fact that someone like him rejects the utter existence of the mysticism and spirituality is logical from his standpoint, but it makes it even more infuriating." he continued to talk as he was getting even angrier, as he scowled angrily and bared his teeth and growled his words.
"But still, that was certainly an amazing feat for any martial artist to proclaim." the former desert bandit said as he tried to lighten the mood.
After the martial artist and showman finished blowing on his swollen hand to the point that the pain went away, He started to do some stretching as he prepared himself for the match, all the while he was receiving cold glares from the bio-android, who kept a somewhat stoic expression on his face and had his arms still crossed in front of his chest.
Meanwhile, Jimmy Firecracker was looking at the camera while the champion of humanity was stretching on the tiled area, making sure not to stand completely in front of the camera so that the shot of the champion was not blocked. "And he is folks, the great Mr. Hercule Satan has made a grand and dynamic entrance while entering the arena at the same time. Such declaration with such confidence is truly befitting for The Champ! Such display of strength and durability, he sure is someone we can trust to defeat the menacing Cell. I want to hear you viewers across the world chant our champ's name until I can here it here. Come one people, give Mr. Satan power through your hope!" he chanted as he tried to hype things up for the crowd who were watching this around the world, to which many of the Z-Fighters simply groaned with an eye roll.
When the man finished stretching, he stood up and turned to face the camera and the TV announcer and raised his right hand, making a "V" sign with his index and middle fingers. "Listen to me, people of the world. I, Hercule Satan am here to kick the ever-loving heck out of the fake, cowardly and weak man in this arena, prancing around in some fake costume and frightening you all using cheap tricks like lights and mirrors." he boasted as he pointed at the amalgamated creature and started to insult him while shouting loudly towards the camera.
The defenders of the planet sans Goku simply had a sour expression on their faces as most of them crossed their arms in front of their chest. 'He's a dead man.' they thought while listening his boastful and overconfident speech while he had his back to the same one whom he was insulting, which wasn't the smartest move to do.
Meanwhile, Mr. Satan had continued his speech to the camera, speaking loudly and bombastically so that his words would be perfectly understood and heard. "I can assure you that I do not fall for those cheap tricks. I can already tell that he had planted around the entire area explosives to give the illusion that the beams of light that are created from the mirrors that are somehow places all over the area actually have any destructive capabilities. You don't need to look at this this coward with fear, because he is obviously wearing some cheap costume and he knows nothing about real martial arts." he continued his speech as he went to further mock Cell and his grand capabilities, making both Gohan and Mirai Trunks feel frightened as their imagination ran wild with how gruesomely the bio-android would torture the human before brutally killing him.
"Compared to me, who's fists are like dynamite, knows that true power comes from my own punches and kicks, not from some trickery that falls under the guise of "mysticism", which is also just a bunch mumbo jumbo that average martial artists use to make themselves look like they are "legendary" fighters." he spoke as he mocked the existence of the mystic arts such as ki, explaining it all as magic tricks. "But neither you, my fans nor I fall for such cheap and cowardly methods to stain the honor of true martial arts!" he finished his long speech as he raised up his second hand in the air, making the same victory sign as he had a huge smirk of overconfidence on his face.
Perfect Cell looked at the man as his eyes narrowed. 'Yep, I think he just surpassed Bryco on my shit list. Let's see if he could surpass Vegeta and Tien.' he thought to himself as his body shook with anger at the insults this ant was throwing in his direction. However, some of it was mitigated by echoes of cries of hatred of those souls that he had absorbed into his very being, wishing death upon him and cheering on for the human champion, raising both a sign of guilt in his heart. However, he stayed silent.
However, Mirai Trunks quickly ran forward up until he was in front of the arena and looked at the martial artist with the Afro. "Excuse me sir, but you really shouldn't take this lightly at all! Cell will kill you if you go on like this!" he tried to warn the man with panic in his voice, hoping that his logical plead could reach the man.
However, the future swordsman had no such luck whatsoever. "Ah, it seems that you truly know nothing about martial arts, young man. It's obvious that it's nothing but cheap tricks and theatrics. But don't worry, I'll prove that to everyone by finishing this battle quickly." he told the Super Saiyan as he threw his cape off his body and turned to face the amalgamated creature, entering a fighting stance. Meanwhile, the time traveler had a bead of sweat coming from his forehead as he just couldn't believe how idiotic that man was.
'But no matter what, I have to stop him from dying.' the lavender-haired young man thought to himself as his body shook with a sense of nervousness.
At that point Jimmy Firecracker went ahead and put his microphone in front of the palm-haired Saiyan's face. "Mr. Son Goku, as a fellow champion, do you believe that Mr. Satan has a chance at winning the being who calls himself "Perfect Cell", or will he take his first victory as world champion?" he inquired as he asked for the man's opinion, hoping to get some useful commentary.
Goku simply gave his friendly Son smile and shook his head as he closed his eyes for a few moments. "Nope." he said cheerfully as he put his hands on his waist and opened his eyes. "But I still want to watch the fight to see how The Champ fights. I always like watching new styles of martial arts." he said with a genuinely honest and kind tone to his voice as his hands were on both sides of his waist.
The other defenders of Earth then noticed that the burly human turned his head slightly towards the palm-haired Saiyan and narrowed his eyes, only to then turn his gaze back to the ultimate creation of Dr. Gero and Dr. Wheelo and started to perform a Kata. This got the attention of everyone as Goku turned to look at the man with stars in his eyes while squealing like a young kid getting a present, while the camera focused its image on the martial arts champion who was performing his Kata.
"And it seems like Mr. Satan is performing a series of moves to show his skill to intimidate his opponent. Such grace! Such focus! It's no doubt that the fearsome Cell himself is even so focused on our champion and most likely analyzing him. To be capable of making someone take you seriously just by performing a few moves on the air as your opponent, that is the true marking of the greatest martial artist in the world!" the small announcer spoke while appearing like he was being fired up, trying his best to hype the man further.
The Z-Fighters themselves also examined the Tenkaichi Budokai champion as they saw that his Kata had very precise moves that focused heavily on the way power was transferred across the body, with heavy emphasis on punches that rose from the waist to the chest and then launched forward, high kicks and elbow strikes. Seeing that the man was actually quite skilled man the humans in the group to raise an eyebrow at the display of the Kata.
"Huh, he certainly is skilled. Too bad he is such a short-sighted moron." the three-eyed, bald martial artist said as he showed quite a bit of disdain for the man on the area, despite being impressed with his fighting style. The fact that Hercule Satan mocked the mere idea of spirituality was probably what made him feel sour and angry at the man.
Yamcha then chuckled as he had a bead of sweat rolling from his forehead. "I really feel bad for him now, because there is no doubt that he will die." the former desert bandit said as his jaw had fallen slightly and his lips curved slightly upwards as his left eye twitched because he was overwhelmed with nerves.
When Mr. Satan finished his Kata he turned to the camera and once more raised both of his hands with a victory sign while also grinning like a smug idiot, unaware of the danger that he was turning his back to. "Yeah! This is how it's done!" he shouted as he then turned to his opponent, who still kept himself standing firm with a less-than-amused expression on his face as he still kept his hands crossed in front of his chest. "How do you like that, poser?! What, cat got your tongue?" he asked with a mocking tone as he entered his fighting stance once more. "Look at you, you're not even entering a fighting stance. No wonder that this fight is going to end quickly." he continued to taunt the bio-android as he kept on boasting and puffing his chest, preparing to start the fight.
"Hey, moron! Get the hell out of the ring and let the real fighters fight! We don't need clowns like you making a mockery of themselves!" the prince finally shouted at the man as he had had enough of the burly, mustached human's boasting and arrogance.
At that point Mr. Satan turned to look at the flame-haired Super Saiyan elite with a furious expression on his face, with veins bulging on his brow. "Now you listen here! I'm the world champion! I am the best martial artist in the world, as well as the strongest man in the world! I do not need to listen to the opinions of some so-called "former champions" or of some second-rate fighter who wears armor because he's too scared to get hurt! I'm what counts here! Not some hillbilly martial artists wannabes from the boonies or wherever you come from! Do you read me!" the man screamed at the top of his lungs as he couldn't hold the anger that was his damaged pride and insult to his reputation by the prince.
However, these remarks infuriated the Mastered Super Saiyan, who quickly raised his right hand and started to charge a Big Bang attack aimed right at the man, but the burly Tenkaichi Budokai champion seemed unfazed by the threat of the ki attack. Thankfully, before the shortest full-blooded Saiyan could fire his attack, the short and spiky-haired Saiyan, who was the tallest of the full-blooded Saiyans grabbed the prince's arm and raised it above his head, making the flame-haired prince to glare dagger at his "ally" while also snarling furiously.
"Calm your tits, princess. This is an official battle, an honorable 1v1 battle. It would be a stain on your honor to intervene. Not that you have any honor left, you backstabbing asshole." the Mastered Super Saiyan insulted his former superior and the man he probably hated the most after Cell.
"Go to hell! You talk about honor? Since when the shit did you have that?" the prince retorted as he asked his insulting question towards the taller man.
"Go to hell? I'll send you there myself!" Bryco threatened as they both were busy glaring daggers at one another, both of their auras blazing to life.
"HEY! This is my time! Shut up and let me show you how a real martial artist fights!" Hercule Satan intervened in the argument between the full-blooded Saiyans before turning back to face Perfect Cell while the camera shifted from focusing on the argument to filming the champion himself.
He then walked around the large pile of broken stone tablets that had been split apart by him as he entered a stance once more. "Now it's about time for me, Mr. Satan, to end this one big farce and show you why I'm the world champion!" he said as he started to make several posses and then punched the air several times. Afterwards he started spinning his right arm around the shoulder, with the pace of the spinning growing faster and faster. "Now fall to my Dynamic Punch!" he said as he charged towards his opponent.
Cell finally uncrossed his arms and lowered them to his sides and then raised his right hand up to his left cheek. His muscles started to tense as he put more and more power into his hand as he prepared to turn the man who was running towards him into red paste. However, his eyes widened when his head was started to get filled with voices once again.
"Heartless monster!"
"Evil beast!"
How could you kill us all like this?!"
Why didn't you show any mercy?!"
Do you have no regrets?!"
I HATE YOU, YOU LIAR!"
"I thought you really wanted to be my friend."
All the voices of all of the souls whom were inhabiting his body cried in unison, releasing their rage and anger, their cries of injustice and questions of morality. All of these noises caused Cell to feel like tears were coming up into his eyes and he felt like he was chocking. He felt uncertain, unsure and all of the power in his hand quickly disappeared, as well as any killing intent that resided in him at the moment.
When he released his attack, the champion was close enough to him to receive it in full with no time for him to even react. A powerful backhand hit the man's right cheek and he was sent rolling to the left and right out of the arena, but that bitch slap was not strong enough to even break a single bone in the martial arts champion's body and merely ringed him out.
Jimmy Firecracker and his cameraman looked shocked as they saw The Champ rolling out of the arena, with their jaws slacking and their eyes nearly bursting out of their skulls, while the Z-Fighters were not surprised whatsoever at the turn of events, though some were pleased that at least the amalgamated being didn't kill the man. However, there were two people who had a different reaction. The palm-haired warrior smiled as if something was confirmed in his mind, while his son's eyes seemed to widen with some sort of realization.
"This is awful, folks. Mr. Satan has been defeated!" the announcer screamed with a panicked voice as he looked at the camera and pointed towards the man who was lying on the ground, groaning. "Are we out of any kind of hope?! Is this world truly doomed if our greatest champion was beaten so easily?" he asked as he addressed the audience while speaking to the camera.
Perfect Cell then raised his left arm and fired an invisible wave of air pressure that blew all of the split stone tablets off of the ring as he looked over at the Earth's greatest warrior. "Son Goku, are you finally going to come up here and face me? Because that clown made me lose my patience, so I'm not in the mood to torture and kill Tien Shinhan." he said with a stoic and serious tone to his voice, though the Earth-raised Sayan could notice something else inside of the ultimate life form's tone of voice.
However, the man just smiled as he walked up to the ring. "Sure, I could have waited for everyone to get their turn, but I'm out of patience as well, so I really just want to have a fun fight." he said as he got into the ring while his walk showed that he was very confident, only to stop a few meters from the edge of the ring that was behind him, only to stance casually with his arms resting to the sides of his body while a smirk rose on his face. "So Cell, how about it? Ready for a real fight?" he asked as he showed happiness and excitement mixed in with his confidence.
Hearing this made Cell smirk as he clenched his palms into fists very tightly while his muscles tensed. "You don't have a clue who long I've been waiting for this." he said as he released some of his power, creating very powerful gusts of wind that blew around the entire area.
Now the tension in the ring was rising as everyone held their breath, waiting for Goku to transform back into his Mastered Super Saiyan form so that the battle for the fate of the Earth could begin at last.

[Musical Cue #2: Ending- Creeping in My Soul by Cryoshell] *Chorus Only*
Here I am
I am lost in your land
And I hope you will be
Creeping in my soul
Shadows fall, let me out
Hear my call
And I'll always believe
Creeping in my soul...
With Goku volunteering to fight against Cell first, the Cell Games and the fight for Earth's survival is about to begin. Can Goku truly defeat this opponent as well, or is Cell a wall that even he cannot break through? Is there something in his secret plan that will give him the upper hand in this upcoming fight? Find out on the next chapter of Changed Path...
Woah, okay, this took way too long for me to write, but with a new job that takes most of my day, I'm really tired and never really in the mood to write. However, I will honestly try to get the next chapter to come out in less time than this one did. I honestly also didn't expect this one to be as long as it was. Just thought that it would go like: Everyone arrives to the Cell Games, Mr. Satan and the filming crew shows up, Mr. Satan trash talks Cell, loses and Goku enters the ring. That's basically what it was but I wrote it in a lot more words that I initially intended to. But next time it's Goku vs Cell and it will probably be not as long as this one.
Anyway since there aren't any meaningful reviews for the last chapter, R&A is off.

Anyway, until the next time we meet, this will be all you will get from me. I hope that you all stay healthy, live well and stay happy. Bye bye.
