Author's Note: Another brand-new chapter, peeps! This time, a longer one.

Happy reading, everyone! Riverdale doesn't belong to me.

Chapter 68

At school, Betty puts down a brand-new copy of the Blue & Gold newsletter. Veronica enters the office, with a copy, smiling.

"Quite the expose," Veronica remarked. "Whenever did you find the time to write it?"

"Uh, I stayed up all night." Betty replied, sighing. "Couldn't sleep after…"

"Me neither," Veronica agreed.

"Betty, you came through for me…in a way that no one else ever has before. But can we talk about what happened?" Veronica asked.

"What do you mean?" Betty asked, confused.

"The wig and everything." Veronica answered. "How far were you gonna take it?"

"Chuck deserved it," said Betty.

"You called him Jason," Veronica pointed out.

Betty's face wore a quizzical expression.

"No, I didn't do that." She denied, walking away.

"Yeah, girl, you did." Veronica insisted, following the blonde to her locker. "You called yourself Polly. It was like Dr. Jekyll, Mistress Hyde."

"You became another person." She added.

"Okay, I mean, I remember saying Chuck should apologize for Polly…but not because I thought he was Jason." Betty said, opening her locker and retrieving her backpack.

"Why then?" Veronica asks.

"Because I'm sick of guys like Chuck and Jason doing horrible things to girls like…me, you, and Polly." Betty responded, defensively.

She walks away and Veronica watches her.

"Good and evil. Light and dark," Jughead narrates. "Betty and Veronica. Two sides of the same Janus coin. Given Betty's article, Weather bee needed a sacrificial lamb…needed to make an example of someone."

The girls sat in the principal's office along with Hermione. Weather bee yells at them, for the playbook fiasco.

"So, after Hermione Lodge negotiated a lesser sentence for our two avenging angels…" Jughead continued.

"Next time, mija, you come to me first. You don't take matters into your own hands." Hermione instructed her daughter. She strokes Veronica's hair and Veronica nodded.

"Coach Clayton, to save his job, to save the school's reputation…was forced to cut his own beloved son and his goon squad from the team…an action that, though none of us knew at the time…would have terrible consequences in the weeks to come."

Chuck and five of his minions walked down the hallway, frowning. They are followed by Weather bee and Chuck's dad, Coach Clayton. Ethel, Josie, Cheryl, Betty, Veronica, Tina and Ginger stood at the end of the hallway. The student body took pictures from behind, witnessing Chuck and his cronies' fall from grace.

Passing by the dynamic duo, Chuck shoots them a glare.

Ethel smiles at Betty and Veronica, and addresses them, "Thanks, Betty. Thanks, Veronica." She said gratefully.

"Thank you, Ethel, for going on the record. It made all the difference with Weather bee." Betty said.

"You're the bravest of them all, Ethel Muggs." Veronica commented.

"Hashtag 'Justice for Ethel'," Cheryl added.

Betty and Veronica looked at each other and shared a smile. They had come out on the other side, triumphant. And no matter what hurdles life threw them, they'd always have each other's backs.

"But one thing was certain: Betty and Veronica, now B and V…and maybe forever, had been forged."

Outside Riverdale High, Betty found a trash can, holding the infamous playbook. Glancing at the book, she tossed it down and poured gasoline all over it in the can.

Cheryl walks over to her and flicks the lighter open, throwing it in. The book caught fire and starts to burn.

"They walked through the fire and survived."

"Whoever drowned Jason, harmed him." Cheryl said sadly, under the guise of covering for her brother.

"Maybe Jason hurt people too. If he hurt Polly, I'm sorry."

Betty shrugs, keeping quiet. She and Cheryl continue to watch the book be destroyed. All the girls' names, including Veronica's and Polly's, went up in flames.

Betty: Polly, did you know that Jason & the football team kept a playbook with all the girls' names, including yours?

Polly: I heard about it.

Betty: Did Jason apologize to you for it?

Polly: Yes, he did. And I forgave him. Why do you ask?

Betty: No reason, just curious.

Meanwhile, in the Blue and Gold office,

"If you publish a story saying I fired that gun, my life will be ruined." Dilton warned. "I'll be banished from the Adventure Scouts and charged with a misdemeanor. So, what if I have a better story?"

Jughead and Betty exchanged looks. He gives Dilton a look, saying to continue.

"If I tell you what I know, promise me the gunshot stays between us." Dilton pleaded.

Betty walks over to him.

"You have our word. As journalists," She assured.

Jughead joins her.

"We all know about what happened between Ms. Grundy and Archie." Dilton began to say. "But what if I were to tell you, that I saw them at Sweetwater River. I'd seen Ms. Grundy's car by the river's edge."

"Despite all our recent troubles, I would've done anything to protect Archie…but Dilton Doiley had just opened Pandora's box…and now there was nothing I, or anyone, could do to save him."

A/N: And that concludes the end of episode three "Body Double"! Originally; Chuck and his goons getting suspended, Betty and Cheryl burning the playbook, and Dilton's shocking confession were all going to be separate chapters. But, I didn't want to cut off Jughead's narration.

Anyways, the next chapter kicks off the start of 1x04, "The Last Picture Show". And Betty will confide in with Charles about her secret communication with Polly.
