It was nighttime in the Loud House. Lynn slowly walked to her room, got into bed, and began to think. That day she had shown Lincoln and Clyde to her middle school. Her advice had only made things worse. No one hated Lincoln and Clyde. They just hated her.
Lynn had been miserable all of last year. She had been bullied throughout sixth grade, yet no one knew. If she let them know, if she showed weakness, the bullies would win. At least that's what Lynn thought. Now, she felt alone.
Maybe she deserved this. She was mean to her family, but it was all play, right? She would never mean to hurt them, right? But she did. That day, her advice had put Lincoln and Clyde in the crosshairs. Lincoln and Clyde had trusted her. They shouldn't have.
Lynn couldn't help but blame herself. She knew that she had done something wrong. She was targeted, not Lincoln, not Clyde, not anyone in her class. It was her. It was always her. Why was it always her?
She thought about that day. It was the first time she had opened up. She told Lincoln and Clyde everything. She had shown weakness. Lynn Loud does not show weakness. She can't show weakness... But she did. No one could help her. It was all in the past, but it still felt so real.
Lynn checked to make sure Lucy was still asleep, before breaking down in tears. That night, Lynn cried herself to sleep.
Well this was a downer, but I can't help but find that fitting.
I don't think any other episode has made me feel bad for a character as much as Middle Men. This is one of my favorites, mainly because we see a softer side of Lynn, not to mention actual character development. She had already started to grow on me after Net Gains, but this is what sealed her as a character I like.
I can't help but worry someone's going to leave a comment saying something along the lines of, "Lynn deserved to be bullied... Yada yada yada, No Such Luck, Lynn sucks, blah blah blah." Please don't. If you were talking to a real victim of bullying, would you point out all the mean things they did and say they deserved it? I sincerely hope not. Just food for thought.
