A canon-compliant drabble on The Amazing Spider-Man #112.

Spider-Man had caught some goon with flair, webbing him to the hood of a car, and then leaving a crowd of adoring fans calling out after him as he took off, web-slinging above the streets of New York City.

Gwen was with Flash, who was still trying to catch Spider-Man's attention, but Gwen was quiet.

"Hey Spidey- Hey, wait!" The blond tried, before giving up. "How'dya like that? He didn't even see me!" Flash sulked.

"It's just as well, Flash. I don't think...I could have faced him." she responded, the two of them watching Spider-Man leave.

"Gwen...you don't still believe he killed your father, do you?" Flash asked, turning serious.

"It's not just that, Flash. It's Peter... and his aunt... I can't help feeling responsible... and somehow, when I see Spider-Man... it just reminds me of everything I've done wrong... to hurt Peter... without thinking!" Gwen responded, rubbing her arms as she looked away.

"Don't blame yourself, Gwendy... Parker draws trouble like a magnet!" Flash explained, draping his arm across her shoulders and guiding her away from the crowd.

"Flash, you promised not to ride Peter anymore. You know how much he means t-" Gwen tried, before Flash interrupted her.

"Sure, Miz Stacy. I'm just kidding. Parker's all right, I guess...though he's never gonna be a Spider-Man!" He beamed.
