Things are gonna get a little different now with Soluna on board, as Star and Marco's daughter she'll be very important moving forward. I had actually created her earliest version as far back as the middle of season 1, I wanted to add her into the fray of all the Starco kids but I never really found the time. I'm actually glad that I ended up saving her for the story, that way her development can be a surprise.

To Sugar: Tom and Janna are a real fun pair to write, I wish I would have made a few more chapters focused on their relationship. The name Soluna means 'sun and moon' in spanish, connecting to both of her parents heritage in a way. I've actually loved that name long before this show ever came out (there's an interesting story to it actually,) and when I was coming up with names I realized how perfect it would fit.

A few days had gone by since Star and Marco returned to the castle with their newborn daughter bundled up in their arms, thanks to some intervention from Moon and Eclipsa the new parents hadn't need to worry about the media popping up at every corner trying to get an exclusive feature with the baby princess. The king and queen also minimized their time working with the council for the time being, neither of them wanted to leave Soluna's side. However, even with all of this outside help, Star and Marco still found themselves overwhelmed…

"Star, she's crying again!"

"But we just changed her diaper five minutes ago!"

The two had underestimated how hard taking care of a newborn baby was, it hadn't even been a week and the couple could count how many hours of sleep they've gotten on their hands. Soluna kept them on their toes with her constant needs, almost purposely waiting until their guard was down before making another demand.

Star got up off the couch and took Soluna into her arms, by now her motherly instinct had caught on to what kind of cries meant what "She's…hungry! Can you grab the formula off the table?"

Marco raced to the small table by their bedside, grabbing the bottle of corn-flavored liquid and bringing it to his wife "It's almost out, should I go make some more?"

"I think she's ok for now…" Star observed the baby as she downed her formula, letting out a tiny hiccup when she was finished. The little red octagrams that decorated her cheeks briefly glowed for a split second; quickly enough that Star didn't realize anything was amiss until her daughter started to slowly float up into the air "Soluna!" she jumped up and forced the baby to adhere to gravity once again.

Star let out a sigh of relief, the one thing she and Marco were completely unprepared for was Soluna's magic. She was the first Butterfly born with the new magic, so they thought she would have to unlock it like everyone else. It turned out that having the two most powerful magic users' as your parents let you skip dipping down and lets you access magic shortly after being born. So far she had only manifested small light spells and 'levitato', the latter of which seemed to be her favorite as she would start 'leviato-ing' things at random.

"Well she's getting better at least; last time she lifted me 20 feet off the ground." Marco spoke positively despite his tiredness, laying an arm around Star's shoulder while he stared down at his daughter. Soluna had finally stopped crying and was now giggling instead, trying to clap her hands together as best as she could.

The laughter didn't last long; a small gurgle came from Soluna's stomach as her face turned an unpleasant shade of green. Star flung the baby over her shoulder and gently patted her back to help her burp, after the third pat she heard a sickening noise as something seeped through the back of her dress.

"…she threw up." Marco pointed out the obvious.

"I know Marco, I can feel it."

"…she got me too…on my shirt."

"Just-just cast the cleanup spell, please?"

Red magic flowed out of Marco's hands as he motioned towards the chunky mess "Squeaky clean washer dream!" a stream of bubbly water emerged from his palm and circled around the three of them making a soapy tornado. When the bubbles disappeared they took the mess with it and the family was fresh and lemon-scented "Why is it always lemon? Can't we change up the scent?" Marco asked.

"I dunno, when I think fresh and clean I think of lemon scented. Just think about it next time." Star shrugged. The quick magic bath amused Soluna and she started to laugh once again before letting out a soft yawn. In seconds the tiny princess had already fallen fast asleep, unaware of the doting faces of her parents as they watched her.

Star and Marco exchanged a loving smile with each other before turning their full attention to their baby. Taking care of Soluna wasn't always easy, but she was worth every second of it.

Walking into the castle after a day out with her friends, Star didn't expect to come back to much. So when she saw the entire foyer covered in bubble wrap and soft cushions she was understandably confused.

"What in the-"she stepped into the padded room, surprisingly not yearning to pop the bubble wrap. The place was packed like a fragile glass in a box, one that could keep the glass safe even after falling down a flight of stairs.

Wait…safe…

"Marco!" the queen had a feeling she knew who was behind this, hopping over the padded floor she made her way up to their bedroom. It wasn't just the foyer that was wrapped up, every inch of the side of the castle that wasn't a workplace was covered in pillows and bubble wrap. When she finally arrived at the bedroom, she could hear the sound of her husband and daughter behind the door. With a strong kick, Star burst the door open "MARCO BUTTERFLY-DIAZ!"

Her loud entrance startled Marco who fell backwards onto a pile of fuzzy pillows, causing Soluna to giggle at her father's expanse. The tiny baby was covered in Styrofoam padding and wearing a helmet on top of her head.

"H-hey Star." Marco greeted as he pulled himself up.

"Marco would you mind explaining all the decorating going on here?" Star put her hands on her hips as she waited for an explanation.

The king held his daughter in his arms and stood up to look his wife in the eyes "Well I sorta…baby proofed the castle." He sheepishly admitted "Soluna got a papercut earlier when I was reading her a book and when I went to get a bandage I stubbed my toe! It made me realize how many ways a baby can get hurt in a place like this, so I did the responsible thing and made everything safe!"

"Marco, there is being safe, and there is going way overboard. This is the second one." Star shook her head disapprovingly.

"So I might have overdone it a tad, but it's for the greater good!" Marco argued his point "She's almost fallen several times when she levitates herself, she tried to poke her head out of a window, and then there was the stunt you pulled at her unveiling last week!"

ONE WEEK AGO

Hundreds of people stand below Earthni castle, looking up towards the balcony as the queen steps forward with the princess in her arms. Star holds Soluna under her arms and lifts her over the side of the balcony and up towards a beam on sunlight.

"IT'S THE CIRCLE OF LIFE!"

The music loudly plays as the crowd cheers; Marco however runs up behind Star and lets out a panicked gasp "STAR NO!"

FLASHBACK OVER

"Oh you know I wasn't gonna drop her!" Star reassured her husband "If anything, all this bubble wrap will end up hurting her more."

Marco looked at her incredulously "How could she get hurt with bubble wrap?!"

"While we were having a flashback Soluna wrapped herself in a cocoon of the stuff." Star lifted up her daughter who was indeed cocooned in bubble wrap, somehow she had gotten out of the safety gear her dad put her in and was now trying the pop the bubbles by rolling on them. Frantically, Marco started pulling away at the wrap and freed Soluna "Ok, yeah I'm taking this all down."

And so Marco learned you can baby proof the castle, but you couldn't baby proof a baby.

The hellevator opened in the middle of Lucitor Castle as the royal family of Earthni stepped out into the underworld. Little Soluna gazed in wonder as she laid her eyes on the demonic kingdom for the first time, babbling to her mother as she tried to speak in baby language.

"You've waited a long time for this Soluna! Today you get to meet a new friend!" Star cooed to her daughter, strapped into a harness on Marco's chest. Last month Tom and Janna finally had their baby, a little girl just like they had. A few weeks had gone by until both sets of parents decided it was time for their kids to meet.

Arriving at a door made of black stone, Marco checked the slip of paper in his pocket and lined it up next to the demonic writing engraved on it "Yep, this is the right one." He grasped the doorknob and cautiously opened the door. Poking their heads inside, the two spotted Tom and Janna near a really creepy looking crib "Hey, about time you guys showed up!" the king of the underworld greeted his friends.

Looking down at her baby, Star grinned excitedly "Soluna, there's someone we want you to meet!" she placed the baby on the soft carpet, watching Soluna observe her surrounding with confusion. The sound of another baby quickly got her attention as her eyes latched on to the bundle Janna held in her arms as she walked over "Soluna, this is Mandy!" Janna unwrapped the blanket around her baby and placed her on the floor across from the other princess.

Princess Amanda Lucitor, Mandy for short, for the most part resembled her father. She inherited all of his demon traits save for a tail, while she had gotten her hair color and face shape from her mother. The demon baby noticed Soluna's presence and began crawling towards her.

The parents stepped back to watch how things would play out, both fathers got out their phones and began filming their children. Soluna didn't move at all, she only watched with curiosity as Mandy inched closer to her by the second. When Mandy finally got close enough, she reached out her hand and patted Soluna on her cheek marks, smiling cutely.

"Awww!" everyone but Janna cooed, the demon queen silently smiled instead.

With her other hand, Mandy started patting both of Soluna's cheeks, while the brunette baby sat there not knowing what to do. In response, Soluna grabbed on to one of Mandy's horns, not letting go until her new friend stopped tapping her. Once she was free, Soluna's marks lit up and she started lifting off the ground. Star intervened and gently pushed her daughter back to the floor.

Mandy laughed and patted Soluna's face again, causing the baby to levitate Mandy into the air briefly before Star caught her too. The tiny demon cheered and looked to her new friend for attention, once she saw Soluna was watching Mandy pinched her nose and launched tiny flames from the tips of her horns. The little Butterfly was impressed and laughed, using her magic to conjure a few bubbles that floated towards Mandy.

The two princesses showed off their powers to one another, bonding and becoming fast friends. The babies paid no mind to their fathers as they ran around the room putting out fires and keeping spells in check, Star just continued to videotape the moment while Janna let out a content sigh "Not even a year old and my daughter can start a fire with her bare hands, I am so proud of her already."

OXOXOXOX

"Come on Soluna, say it with me…Da-ddy."

The toddler batted her eyelashes, not opening her mouth in any attempt to speak.

"Ughhh…Soluna!" Marco groaned as his face met his hands, his daughter had her first birthday about two months ago, he knew she was going to say her first word soon. However Soluna was a very quiet baby, she never even attempted to say a word. With her dad's eyes no longer on her, Soluna crawled away to continue playing with her toys.

"Marco, what'cha up to?" the king jumped when he heard his wife's voice coming from behind him. Star raised an eyebrow at him as she set down her plate of nachos on the coffee table "Oh-uh just playing with Soluna!" Marco unconvincingly answered.

"Marco Butterfly-Diaz, were you trying to get Soluna to say your name as her first word?" Star pointed accusingly at the guilty party.

"Whaaaat? Nooo…" his words trailed off, and his eyes avoided hers.

Star folded her arms across her chest and disapprovingly raised an eyebrow "Marco, we agreed that since you were Mariposa's first word that I would get to be Soluna's."

"I know, but in my defense Mariposa said 'Marco', not 'daddy' or 'papa'." Marco countered. Star's disapproving stare refused to vanish at his case.

Soluna paid no attention to her parents, but the smell of nachos filled her nose and made her mouth water. Crawling over to the coffee table, she used her magic to bring a few chips down into her tiny hands "Naho." She tried to bite into the chip, only to find it wasn't soft and easy to eat like her baby food "Naho!"

Star and Marco froze and slowly turned to their daughter, they both heard it, while they were deciding which of them would be Soluna's first word, the princess chose her father's signature dish to be her first instead "Oh my god…she said her first word….MARCO SHE SAID HER FIRST WORD!" Star gripped the front of Marco's shirt and shook him around excitedly.

Holding another chip, Soluna held it up to her parents and repeated herself "Naho." Her parents instantly fawned over her and pulled her into a hug "We are so proud of you sweetheart! You can talk now!" Marco nearly cried, inside his head he had already begun planning on getting her to walk next week.

Held in a bear hug by her parents, Soluna didn't care, she just wanted to eat the chip.
